I haven't been around much lately. I don't know if I can make December. I have so much going on right now.
SoCal-love the photos.
LisaSDCA-how are you doing girl?
Sylvia-Aren't you having surgery next week?
-
Assuming I remember that day ... 12/13 & 19/20 is ok for me.
-
Hi,
Hope you're all enjoying the rain. Driving home from Las Vegas right now. I'm glad it's Tom that's driving and not me. Our daughter was in the half-marathon yesterday. Boy was it cold and we were outside for 2 hours early in the morning and then for about another 4 hours. My hands and feet were freezing. I don't know how I did it.
I can make the 20th or the 27th.

I just have to speak for myself, but I am smothered by all the holiday activies and stuff going on..so I am thinking how about after Christmas?? Like the 27th or later...what do you think??
Has anyone had any contact with LisaSDCA??
-
I still haven't heard from her, Lisa. I'm hoping someone else has. I will call her next week if there's no word.
-
Boy I am beginning to feel like a stranger to this place. I am just so busy with the boys and work. I do miss you all. I am with SoCal though. I just don't have time to come to San Diego right now. Things are just to hectic. I haven't even bought any presents for anyone yet.
I just texted LisaSDCA's daughter and asked about her. Taylor said she is doing pretty well and able to drive a bit. The new chemo seems to be going well. She is going to tell her to post.
Sylvia-Hope you are feeling better. Really once the pain goes away you will be happy with your decision.
I am going to check around the old stomping grounds here for a bit, hit Nosurrender site and then check my Facebook account. That should only take me 3 hours.
Take care all.
-
Yep--pretty much the same for me--wanted to do our lunch early in the month if we could---but that didn't seem to come together---I had everything taken care of b-4 I went in and now will just be relaxing and becoming "unbruised" ---hopefully---
Happy Holidays to you all!!
Sylvia
-
I have to go to Central California next weekend. But could possibly make the 27th. I've missed not seeing you all in the last few months. Too much going on - some good, some not so good. But as they say, que sera, que sera.
Happy Holidays to all.
-
I'm here. I'm alive.
I can probably make the 27th.
My excuses can be found on the Brain MRI is Making Me Crazy thread in the st.IV forum. Oh, and I haven't heard a peep out of Taylor - so much for her telling me to post...
Lisa
-
I can also make the 27th. I got a 4 day reprieve from next T/C, so instead of the 24th I get it on the 28th. The 27th will be perfect.
LisaSDCA, I read your post in the other thread. I, too am tired of being sick. And I don't have to deal with half of what you are going through. Hang in there.
Read any good books lately? I need a funny non-fiction. Any recommendations?
Hugs to all.

27th ok for me too. As long as we aren't in the same shopping center as a lot of people trying to exchange gifts ...
-
I am game too for the 27th...
-
Lisa,it is good to hear from you...it is alright to whine here...we know the drill!!
I could pick you up...
-
I have not yet posted here but I'm also in San Diego. I just had bilateral mx on 11/5 and am waiting for reconstruction after the first of the year.
I would love to join you for a get-together if you're open for newbies!

I'm new to this board and recently diagnosed San Diegan. The only information I received from my breast surgeon is that I have IDC at least stage 3. I had mri, ct/pet, blood tests last week to learn more about my situation. I have an appointment with onc doc and surgeon on Thursday to reveal the details of my tests, path report and hopefully talk about treatment options. After talking with my social worker, I'm learning about the underground cancer network in SD. Who knew?
-
Nkrun:
Certainly not me! I'm having a heck of a time finding groups, etc. around here. (Although I must confess I've not yet asked my docs or at Moore's where I had a 2nd opinion done - the holidays are just too busy).
-
hi everyone is welcome...
where should we meet this time...I am with Guitar Girl,..somewhere not in a shopping
center
-
hi! I just moved to the San Diego area, Tiera Santa to be specific. I am living with my daughter here. I was diagnosed back on April 8th, had a double mast, and did 5 months of chemo where I used to live in Wichita Kansas. Moving here was for many reasons, one bieing I turned housebound and my health was suffering so with the colder weather there moving here with more sunshine was healthier for me. I was orginally born and raised in L.A. County and have lived in Escondido many years ago,
I am hoping/wanting to connect with oth4er survivors in this area. Please e-mail me for my aol address and who knows make new friends!
Shaesallah
(Tina)
P.S. I am 56 yrs and could also use help in getting a new oco and family doctor set up here

Hi, I know of a restaurant that's not in a shopping center - well I wouldn't call it a shopping center. It's an Indian restaurant in Mira Mesa close to Miramar Road. There's a small complex of Indian stores there - I don't think we would have a parking problem.
There's also Tio Leo's near I5 & hiway 56 - that's not in a shopping center.
Asked my daughter and she came up with these - none of them are in a shopping center where you would find crowds returning stuff - some are in small malls
Applebee's in MIra Mesa
Olive Garden & Marie Calendars in Carmel Mountain
TGIF & El Torito in Fashion Valley
Chili's on Mira Mesa Blvd near 805
Red Robin in Del Mar Heights
Hillcrest: Bread & Cie, St Trope
We ought to be able to find something that will work for all of us.

Hi nkrun, mirbelle, tina! Wow - a bunch of new SD ladies. I am new too- haven't been to any of the get togethers yet-just started reading the SD area topic. Had a bi-lat mx on Nov 20th - doing well except for the nerve pain. Crazy and unpredictable.
Will start Chemo in Jan - suggested AC every three weeks for 4 cycles then Taxol weeekly for 12 weeks. I am with Kaiser and found a great surgeon that Lisa also had - Dr. Ressa. My Onc Dr is new to Kaiser - just moved from UCSD - Dr. Cheng Just getting to know him.
Look forward to getting to know you all better. Mirbelle - your girls are beautiful. I have a 12 year old boy.
-
Welcome to all the ladies who are new ...we look forward to meeting you...
How about something central...like Chili's on Mira Mesa by 805
or something on Carmel Mtn..but that might be busy..
Long drives from South Bay..
There is a Tio Leos on Morena..
-
Any of those suggestions would work for me. I'm in Rancho Penasquitos, so pretty central.
Cammy2 - Thanks! My girls are 17 months and almost 3. Hard to believe they are getting so big.
Tina - The oncologist I saw (and my husband as well) is in Escondido, Joel Lamon. I've heard some find him a little gruff, but I loved that about him - he is very straightforward. He seems very caring to me though so I really don't know if I would call him "gruff" anyway. He seemed extremely intelligent and was very thorough. I didn't end up needing chemo or anything so the way he ended my visit was "I hope I never see you again" with a smile. Works for me!
-
Shaesallah - I just sent you a pm with info on a couple of good doctors. Hope we see you on the 27th.

-
I'm available on the 27th. Let me know what time and location. I may have a friend with me, depending on her chemo schedule.
See you soon,

Hello all...and special hello to the newbies--as someone said to me "You are joining a club that NO ONE wants to belong to".... Eight days post recon and feeling better everyday--determined to get off of percoset in the past few days and have done so--relying on tylenol every 4 hrs and my colon thanks me!!! When I was staring at the same sudoku for 3 days w/o writing anything-I figured out how crazy making that stuff is...no wonder they tell you not to operate heavy machinery!!
Anyway--prob won't be able to make the 27th--that is Gretchen's B-Day (40th) so we are planning BIG things--but I wanted to specifically talk to Mirbelle....What I found so comforting/helpful-you can put alot of different words in there--you can feel free to read all past posts on all of the gals who post here and read their stories--what I wanted to say to you today is some advice that was given to me by SoCalLisa (Liz)--take one step at a time and you will make the decisions that are correct for you--not every person --even with the same dx -makes the same choice. You get as much info as possible and slowly build your defense and you will get thru and out to the other side.
Also--something else- a DR (DO) who I know professionally gave me good advice--when he asked me what was wrong/going on (in Feb/06) and I told him that my 37 yr old daughter and I were both dx with bc-no family history,no braca1 or 2--He said- "You both need to do everything you can right now-while you are healthy --to save your life-do not worry about saving a little breast tissue...so while we both had very different treatments--and I just had recon to "pretty-up" the girls--my daughter had bilat mast and recon in April of 06-we made it thru--
This site gives you hope and while it is the DX that can keep GIVING---trust in the wonderful science of the day and pray that a cure is coming---until then- we fight the good fight.....
-
Just reread my post and realized that I neglected to put "nkrun & cammy2" in for a special reference--for me it is always so maddening to hear about the young ladies with children who have to go thru this....peace.
