Shirlann-Your such a hoot. It is the Mimi's on Mira Mesa Blvd. right off the 15. Yes it is the 31st. Does this mean your #7?
Jean-Come on down. We love to meet out-of-town friends.
-
Hello--i guess I'm #8--may have a new guest too--have heard of a newly dx'd teacher from Carlsbad---has only had a biopsy so far and is an aquaintance of my daughters--being bombarded with plans and not sure what she is doing just yet....
-
Sylvia-Are we riding together? If you are bringing a friend and have to go to Carlsbad first I will just drive myself. I was hoping to bring a friend who was dx 2 weeks ago but it looks like her chemo will start on Thursday so it is unlikely she will feel like lunch out.
-
Jean - welcome to the group. Let us know if you need instructions on where we are going. Depending on what part of town you'll be in, car pooling is also an option.
-
Hi,
Brenda--i'm going to email Pat tonight and ask her if she would like to meet us for lunch--and see what she thinks..and yes i would like to ride together---not sure where she lives--only know that she works for Carlsbad....
-
I still don't know what I'm doing yet either, so I should get along just fine with that person ... oh you meant about the cancer, not life. I don't think there's a cure for being a permanent life space cadet.
Got something in the mail about a survivors weekend. Have any of you gone to that? Worth going to?
-
Susan, I went to,the event at Spanish Landing if that's what you're talking about. I don't think it was a weekend, just a day I went to see two speakers that I was interested in, and the 'carnival' between the speakers.I'm not interested in vendors or radiology groups. Then I left There was plenty of free parking. I imagine the whole thing has grown somewhat in the two years since I went - middle of chemo and pretty spent afterwords. One speaker was really worthwhile.

Just got word that the new lady cannot make it this sunday but to keep her posted for future---not sure what she is doing and trying to figure out her options--talking about a double mast, or having chemo and rad for 12 weeks and then surgery or some STUDY thing---Gretchen heard it was 3cmx5 cm and triple neg--but if she hasn't had anything but a bio--I don't know how they would know that---anyway-- in one breast and abnormal in the other ---she is 56...oh man---and it doesn't sound as if she has a good support system.
-
So it looks like 8 then. Sylvia what time would you like to leave. Dh needs to put brake pads on the van Sunday so I may have him drop me off or something. They are squeaking like crazy and I hate it.
-
So unless I hear differently, I'll make a reservation for 8. Should it be for 12:15? or for 12:30?
-
Brenda--i can drive np---and i would say 12:15 should be fine for time---can you come to my house Brenda--or I can pick you up...?
-
Thanks for taking care of the reservation Brahna.
Sylvia-I can drive our old car over to your house. As long as your dh doesn't mind it sitting in front of the your house again. LOL.
I am really looking forward to seeing you all again.
-
Didn't Lisa#3 say she could make it? Maybe I should PM her. It's nearly in her neighborhood.
Lisa
-
ok Brenda--see you on Sunday and feel the same about seeing everyone for another get together---and Brenda--you are the navigator again, right?
-
does anyone get treatment at UCSD?
-
I think several 'members' do. It's a great comprehensive Cancer Center. I know that several women are participating in a trial there.
Why not join us for lunch and meet a few? We really are a friendly, accessible bunch!
Lisa
-
the trial we are participating in isn't for cancer treatment - it's for post-treatment new age, healing touch. I don't know if any of us are actually going to the UCSD cancer center.
According to my onc, one of the best breast cancer specialists in Southern CA is there.
-
I made the reservation for 12:15 on Sunday. It's in my (nick)name - Bonni.
Just in case we have a couple of more people, I made the reservation for 10.
-
Sorry to respond so late - I'm #9
I've been so busy with my number 1 son - I'm either at UCLA or in Santa Barbara. I am so tired of the 5 and the 405!!!!!
And now I have a cold - it's been a week and I can't shake it. Hopefully by Sunday....
See you then,
Lisa
-
Sylvia-I know the way. See you around 11:30-11:45?
-
Hi dear sisters, yes, I am number 7, hmmm, maybe number 8? Oh well, some number, but I will be there! Can't wait!.
Hugs, Shirl
-

As usual, it was so good to see everyone today.
Bonni - it was nice to meet you. Best of luck with chemo this week. Please feel free to use us as a source of info or...
Wish I'd get over this stinkin' cold ;-(
Love to all,
Lisa #3
-
Lisa#3 - you looked so vibrant and fit, I didn't even realize you were still battling that cold.
Bonni - so good to meet you. You've certainly got an event-fiilled week ahead of you. Remember the anticipation is worse than the reality. I've just realized that my first meeting with these wonderful women, I was in the exact same position you are - my 1st chemo the following week. Lean on us.
Jeanne - adored that necklace!
Shirl - did I hear you making travel plans from that end of the table?
Susan, I apologize if my steroid-shakes ruined the picture, maybe you could post the ones aroud the table?
Lisa - the walking wounded
-
It was another lovely luncheon. Every month I look forward to our time together.
SoCal-When will you be back? We can schedule our next luncheon when you return.
-
Hi - I enjoyed having lunch with everone. Thanks for all your suggestions and advice. Hopefully, I'll be ready for Thursday.
