Great job Brahna!
Okay did anyone see that besides LisaSDCA and Lisa #3? I typoed Brahna to Get job instead of Great Job. Sometimes I wonder if I am even home up there.
-
- Way to go Brahna! I missed the last lunch so didn't get to meet you, but hope to this month.
- I've been toying with idea of doing the Komen 3 day this November...
- Brenda - glad to hear the thyroid was uneventful.
- Liz - thanks for the roses. I'm looking forward to surgery on Monday. I hope the PS can make "the girls" a close match. Have a lovely trip and send pictures.
- Count me in on the 31st - any suggestions as to time/place?
- LisaSDCA - are you home? Can we do anything for you????
- Lisa #3
-
Wow - things have been busy 'round here!
Brenda, it's always happy news to hear the results are clear and worry-free!
Lisa#3 - Stage 2 on the bosoms already! You'll look mah-velous I'm sure!
SoCal - just enough time to wish a Bon Voyage! It will be difficult not having you at our brunch - you are always there!
Brahna ~ congrats on meeting your goal of the Survivors Lap so soon after surgery. You're a strong woman!
Just saw my daughter and sister off to the airport (T's driving her 'taxi-service' and then going back to Newport Bch) and I am tuckered out. E. and I had a great visit together for Thur night and Fri.night (got to the Getty after all, the sweetheart pushed me in a wheelchair the whole time!) in the apt. and then we drove out of LA Sat. as fast as we could go.
Yes, I broke my foot (thus the wheelchair) and it was DAMNED inconvenient. Schlepping everything up to the apt., getting through long hallways at the hospital, walking about a block from parking structure to clinic - you get the idea. Of course I thought that being right there at a huge Kaiser facility I'd be able to get seen btwn my appts. No - they only had the option to go to the ER ('if it's a fracture we have to send you to the ER"). I am not going to wait around for 6 hrs. with flu and coughs so that an MD can give me a walking boot! Geez. I am thinking about going to the Primary Care Walk-In Clinic for Sun. or I could try to get an appt w/ my Primary for Mon., when I have my PET scan scheduled - that takes hours. But I'll be right there - again.
My treatment was uneventful. Tinnitus and headache (and of course fatigue) are a nuisance, but I anticipate those symptoms will moderate soon. Got some good discourse in with some of my alternate doctors on the same neuro-oncology-radiology 'team'. It all hinges on the PET scan on Mon. whether the original tumor is active again.
I got two books read in LA, and just begun on a third, so I am going to take it and try to relax. They've upped my decadron levels (ugh!)and anti-seizure meds and I haven't gotten more than 3.5 - 4 hours per night sleep. And I'm supposed to be healing and resting and taking it easy. Yeah, right.
Thanks for thinking of me!
Lisa
-
Lisa - so good to have you back in SD. Good luck with the PET scan for Monday
Brahna - I am so amazed you did the walk so soon after surgery - that means you are in great shape.
I'm in for the 31st.
Brenda - I'm in for my second treatment with Janet on Wed. Now that I've done this, we need to talk ...
-
I should be able to make it on the 31st.
-
Hi all, I am here in Flagstaff AZ...it was 107 in Phoenix and it dropped to 57 degrees coming
up the mountain...and it is raining..but I did take this picture on our way up to Flagstaff
-
Susan-I have my last healing session tomorrow. We can compare notes on the 31st.
SoCal-Looking forward to lots of pic from around the country.
-
LisaSDCA - when do you get the results of the PET? I'm sending positive thoughts your way!!!
I had stage II yesterday and am home healing today. A few twinges of pain, but it's not too bad. I've been relaxing at home today. Watched "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" and did homework for my photoshop class. I will pop into work for a meeting in the morning, and then take it easy the rest of the day. I'm thinking of getting a fun tattoo instead of a pink areola for my stage III....
So far I think there are 5 or 6 who've said they are in for the 31st. Anyone else? Anyone have a preference as to where to go.
GuitarGirl - do you want to ride together on the 31st?
Lisa #3
-
Lisa#3 you are awesome - "pop into work for a meeting in the morning" and you just had surgery yesterday!?!?
I should be out of my cast and into a knee-high rigid boot by the 31st - so I can drive, but shouldn't drive far. My many years' favorite is a place on Adams Ave., directly under the Normal Heights sign, Jyoti-Bihanga. We'd have to go early because they serve an all-you-can-eat brunch several Sundays a month just until 1pm. If we decide to do that I'd have to check with them re brunch.
http://www.jyotibihanga.com/menu.htm
On the opposite end of the spectrum, still on Adams Ave., there's a newish Premium Grass-fed Beef joint called The Burger Lounge and it has been very popular. I ate at an outside table in my little neighborhood and had a wonderful time. It features "fresh-tossed salads, turkey burgers with fresh basil and our own vegetarian burger made from organic Quinoa" for the vegetarians, not to mention the heavenly fries and onion rings! Decadron makes me hungry.

Here we are in Utah..it rained on and off and mostly it was cloudy..but here is Utah..
-
SoCal-Postcard perfect.
Lisa #3- I have thought of doing different tattoes but I am not even done with recon yet. Your doing great.
LisaSDCA-Both those places sound so good. Either one works for me. What time do you think we need to be there to get a table on a Sunday? Probably before 12:00 huh? I can do that. I just have to go to church early.
Susan-I had Weds on the brain all day yesterday. My session is actually on Thurs.
-
Can anyone tell me when our next scheduled brunch is? I think it is the last weekend in May - but nor sure where or when??
-
jeanne- We are going to either:
http://www.jyotibihanga.com/menu.htm or http://www.burgerlounge.com/ on the May 31st.
They are both near LisaSDCA's house. We'll probably meet some time a few minutes before 12:00 to get a table. I haven't check on that yet. Lisa have you?
Which place does everyone want to go to. Either looks good to me.
-
You know what - this makes NO sense.
The only person South of me is SoCal and she's unable to make this meeting. Even Susan and Brahna are to the North. I will be able to drive because I'll have my boot, not a cast, by then and you dont clutch much (hee!) on the freeway. I'll even be taking real showers soon, too! That's more of a challenge than some freeway driving.
So it makes no sense for the greater proportion of you to adjust your schedules, go to church early spend an hour each way just coming to my 'hood. I insist on at least a half-way point or thereabouts. Del Mar? Something along the 15 near Mira Mesa/ Mira Mar? There's dozens of spots.
Let's wait until I get my head cut off before I am truly incapacitated and you ALL can indulge me (my crainiotomy).
S'okay?
Lisa
-
If you want to come to Mira Mesa, we have lots of restaurants. Souplantation, Mimi's, Fudruckers, and then there are the ethnic ones - El Torito (Mexican), Hapa Shushi (Japanese), Mandarin Gardin (Chinese), PhoCaDao (Vietnamese) and more (Islands, Ihop, Pat and Oscars, Buca di Beppo, . . .)
Brahna
-
I love Mimi's.
-
Mimi's it is then? Sunday the 31st at about 12:15-12:30? Could someone see if they require reservations? We can get a number- Count off - I'm #1
Lisa
-
I'm #2.
Jeannie
-
don't forget a camera
-
I'm #3 and I always have my camera with me. I don't think we need reservations but I'll check with them.
-
I called Mimi's -- It's best to make a reservation so when we have a count I'll take care of it.
-
#4
we'll miss you Liz - I'll try to remember my camera too.
-
Liz - the Utah picture is beautiful. Keep 'em coming!
-
-
I live in LA but please put me on your list. My dh works in SD and commutes (yep-really). I can come down with him and spent the day or night and attend a meeting or luncheon.
-
Jean
you are # 6 -- looking forward to meeting you.
Brahna
-
Sooooo, it is the 31st and at Mimi's? Which Mimi's, there is one next to my house, hahahah
