Brenda, you know I would always try to be there, and we even made this one for after church let out :::pout:::
But - - - I have my confirmed reservations to fly to VA on Thursday. Of course, not enough time to get a lymphedema sleeve (preventive purposes) and I'd sure like to know how a person on lifting restrictions is supposed to get a suitcase out of the trunk of a rental car at a dinky motel in a little tiny town in NC. It's not as though they have a bellman.
My sister suggested unzipping it and carying my things in piece by piece. I may just end up doing that. Lets hope I'm on the first floor.
Lisa
-
Lisa, travel safely. I am sorry you lost a family member. Don't lift; go into the lobby and ask the person at the desk for help. Believe me, I stayed in some less than stellar places this last trip (even posted a bad review on trip advisor), but you can always get someone to help.
If you ladies set a new date, post it here and I will try to make it. I will miss seeing everyone this month, though.
Melia
-
Lisa I am sure you can find someone to help you. Please to not risk lifting anything. It is not worth it.
O.K. so who can make it for Sunday? Shall we reschedule or not?
-
I'm a 'probably'.
-
I say let's reschedule for Dec....
-
Hi sisters, and Brenda too, I am sitting in Puerto Vallarta! No Norovirus so far, hoping for the best.
It will ruin the cruise industry, if they don't get it figured out. We were forwarned and went over the whole cabin with bacterial wipes, door knobs, TV remote, everything. And we carry the "wet stuff" and use it constantly. They have it all over the ship, too.
BUT, you can still get this thing. I am sorry, Brenda, that's just what you needed. Dang it.
See you all soon, hugs, Shirlann
-
I am thinking we should reschedule for December too.
-
Hey, Girls...
My eyelashes are growing in
-
Yippee for eyelashes! I grew some in my tear ducs. That was odd. I think they finally fell out though. I will have to go look.
-
OK all..I have to cancel too..my back went out today and I am almost flat on my back..
Brenda..I don't have the phone numbers, they were in my hard drive of my dead computer...
Hugs, SoCal
-
O.K. ladies it is official. We are going to cancel our November luncheon. I guess it had to happen sooner or later. 9 months without ever having to cancel is a pretty good record.
Is December going to be any easier on everyone? The holidays are such a busy time. December 9 is about all I have open.
Missing you all.
-
I really like December 9.
-
Hello all-I can do Dec 9th....how about we bring a small ($5-$10) exchange gift and make it a Christmas party---or to be pol correct we can call it a Holiday party?! Sylvia
-
I like that idea. Christmas party is my preference though. We can just bring the gifts and make sure nobody goes home with the package they came with. That sounds like fun. Do we want to consider a place that is not so close to a mall? The traffic on a Sunday a few weeks before Christmas may be a little unpleasant.
-
Hi my dear girls, I am at sea, about 500 miles from San Diego, but I thought we got in today and found out we get in tomorrow! Soooo, I would like to re-schedule too.
The gift idea is fine with me and I can make the 9th. So when I get home, I will get back on and see what is up. But I will not be there tomorrow.
Love to you all, Shirlann
-
Hi All,
I will try for the ninth, but it's very hard for me to commit on a Sunday. That's our family day, and it's rare that nothing is going on. So I will stay flexible and will come if I can. But DO NOT work around me; December is a crazy month all on its own, whether it's a Sat or a Sun! We need to do what works for the most people, and figure we will all catch up eventually.
Happy Thanksgiving all! We do all have so much to be thankful for this year, don't we? Even those still in treatment. And least there is an end in sight. I am just coming up on a year since diagnosis, very odd feelings right now.

I know a place, if no one minds coming to the Sea World exit off the 5. There is an Italian restaurant on Morena Blvd. It's called Sardina's. I just love it there.
PS - I also vote for calling it a Christmas party
-
Melia-we don't have to do Sunday's that often. Besides the babysitting thing we have a lot going on in December on Saturdays. The boys have rehersals for Christmas Concerts and stuff coming up. I really hope you can make it this time.
Starfish-I don't have a problem with the Sea World area. We have not done Italian yet. I don't think so anyway.
SDCALisa-Hope you are doing O.K. on your trip. Sorry you had to go for a death in the family.
Shirlann-Did you enjoy your cruise.
Lisa #3-I hope you did not go to lunch today. I did not hear back from you so I assume you checked here or your email before going.
Sylvia-Maybe if we go to the place starfish mentioned we could ride together.
SoCal-I hope your back is better today.
Nash-Can you come on the 9th?
-
My 6th (and LAST!!) chemo round is Dec. 6th, so the 9th is out again for me. However, unless radiation really throws me for a loop, I should be able to come to lunch after the holidays. Really looking forward to meeting everyone!
-
Yes, Brenda, the cruise was just fine. I am okay with any plans for December. Just make the plans, or Lisa, who is such a workhorse with the planning. I am IN.
Love you all, Shirlann
-
Happy Thanksgiving to all my San Diego sisters. I love you and thank God for your love and support.
-
Hello and a very Happy Thanksgiving to you all!! Yes---ride sharing is a great idea!
Sylvia
-
Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!!!!
Looking forward to getting together soon.
PS - Think of me on Monday... another PS appt.
-
Hi sisters, have we set a day in December? I don't have anything on my calendar. Let me know.
Hugs, Shirlann -
Shirlann-I think we are still trying for the 9th some place Starfish knows of near Sea World. The time has not been determined.
What does everyone else think?
-
I can do the 9th for sure. The name of the place is Sardina's on Morena Blvd. by Sea World, if you ladies are interested in Italian food.
Does 1 pm work for everyone?
-
Hello friends -
Sorry to have been absent for a while. I'm disappointed to return and not find a picture from the November gathering, but I suppose it was inevitable that one would not come together someday.
I spent Thanksgving in the hospital
and do not recommend it as a celebratory place. After much IV Zofran and Dilaudid, an ultrasound and CT scan, I seem to have a 5mm+ renal calculi. Chemo - the gift that keeps on giving! Right now it is acting as a Sword of Damocles, as it is wedged in my kidney but may choose to go on walkabout at anytime - as the ER MD said "causing crippling pain". At least I was not scheduled to hostess a crowd that day, instead only disappointed a group who were expecting my Praline Pecan Cheesecake. But I got no leftovers, either.
Dec. 9th works and Sardina's is good for me - my only hesitance is that normally they only open at 4pm on SUndays - except during football season. They advertise their BIG tv's. Do we know if they get a big sports crowd on Sunday afternoons? We like to be able to hear each other and we do have a lot to say!
Lisa
-
The 9th works for me - I'll go anywhere so whatever time and place works for everyone else is good for me.
I've got chemo tomorrow and for some reason I am more anxious about it than usual and I don't know why. I buzzed my hair a week ago but by Thanksgiving it was looking patchy so my friend shaved my head. I look like my brother now ;-)
LisaSDCA - I'm so sorry about your turkey day. So, was it like a kidney stone? I hope your are feeling better!
Lisa #3
-
O.K. lets go for the 9th at 1:00 but we may have to change the location if what Lisa says is the case. I don't think the sports bar enviroment will really work for us. I have never been there so am clueless. Any other suggestions on a place?
LisaSDCA-So sorry you had to go to the hospital. It sounds painful. Apparently chemo does more to me than I want to know.
Lisa#3-I hope chemo goes O.K. for you tomorrow. Isn't it strange how sometimes we feel differently about things during this journey?
Well I can't wait to see you all again.
-
Hey Girls:
LisaSDCA, so sorry you ended up in the hospital!
Last I checked, Sardina's opened at 1 pm on Sundays. But I will call them tomorrow and double-check.
Lisa 3 boys - how has chemo been so far?
