I hope I'm not working on the 23rd...I would love to meet you girls.
Hope you're all having a nice day!

ALOT of emotional things goin on and too much on my mind and cannot even fornulate it in my journal. My DH is very close to getting a final ok for his retirement and the meeting is Thursday. 31 years on the job and it is defintiely time . Moving to AZ is still actively goin and no house found yet. HAVE two breast cancer women i am working with on the phone and it takes me back to where i was a year ago and yet am so grateful i can help them!! My sadness is coming from two women i know and am close to at church and they are both goin because of cancer. I was goin thru chemo with one of these ladies and hers did not take and now had a heart attack as this last round got her very badly. IT is all something she is knows and is ready to go. I feel this disease all around me and i am so emotional over watching it and knowing GOD spared me thus far.
I am so tired today and am nuturing myself and trying to stay in the moment as it is all a gift and maybe because i went thru this BC journey i am, just that muuch more in tuned to what to be grateful for more than ever!!!
Anyone goin thru TX and tests etc.. thinking of you AND sending good thoughts!!!Mak. .. hope no cold and no viruses!!!!'
Hugs,
Donna

I'm in! April 23rd sounds fine. Thanks for setting things up, Donna. Hang in there.

Donna, I am sorry to hear about your Church friends. I think it is difficult to watch this go on while knowing the outcome when we are spared and God-willing about to get on with the rest of our life. Since I so strongly believe that we create a total life plan from beginning to end before we come into this life, while I am saddened by the losses that are endured another part of me understands that this life plan and choice was theirs, not mine, and they were able to shed this life and move into a very precious and wonderful eternal one. No longer restricted on the earthly plane with bodies that are subject to gravitational energies that weaken and tire you out, and illness that always exacts some kind of toll, with all the difficulties and endless trials we often face --- we must go on as the elan' of life is demanding and will have it no other way.....but those who have attained their next step up are most truly alive in all the eternal ways that you cannot be here. We miss them and love them, but they are indeed fortunate to have fulfilled what they needed to accomplish here and go on to that next very wonderful step. An earthly death is just a shedding of the body we needed to have to move our very old souls around while we are here. We do not truly die....we just transition to the next step.
Hope things get better for you and your emotions get back to a good stable place.
Hugs, Jackie

FYIO --- tonight while trying to do something else....I changed a setting on my computer which I missed for such a long time. Smerf, I think this as well came up for you too. Anyway, for the longest time my computer rather than reading from side to side as it always did, started reading in more of an up and down fashion.....as though the computer was wasting so much paper with all the blank space. It also was difficult reading posts, as well as writing them.
While trying to figure out something totally un-related I went up to the upper tool-bar where it said page and clicked on it. Several lines down it said something about compatility view and for the heck of it....I clicked on it. Lo and behold.....my computer changed from the up and down style that I put up with for so long and went back to a side to side type view. So...any of you with the Vista pc....if you have the same problem....it can ve repaired from your tool-bar. I'll be checking back with you tomorrow. See you all then.
Hugs, Jackie

Morning ALL! try this again!! Loose these posts alot lately as i know my computer is not as sharp as it shoulld be..lol.
Jackie... as always your replies and words always put things in good perspective and love your wisdom! IT is a NEW day and am feeling alot of good peace today. Did some good journaling last night and this morning and pulled out some old meditation books and switched out with some of my current ones. Looking at what occurred yesterday gives you a good idea of what emotional times can do and gives you a chance to relfect and be grateful where you are today!!!!
Yea Southsiders!!!April 23rd it is for lunch at PF Changs..Elfsong...hope this still works for you. Laura... HOPE you are not working!!!Also.. will make reservations for around 11:30 as this place gets crowded early and would take us time to get organized at the table etc..lol!!!Looking forward to meeting all of you again in some cases!!!
Jackie.. BTW.. love the pic of the newborn kitten.. what a beauty!!!
There is SUNSHINE today. For ALL those in Tx and need inspriation.. the sun helps ..it always did for me. IT is a sign of warmth and giving inspiration when everything around you seems dark and dreary. Keeps you goin strong as you are and need to be reminded of that!!!!Princess warriors and shining!!!!
Be well today. Go for a special massage today at my Dr;s office and pick up more supplements. Thank goodness for this healing time!!!!My joints hurt today but not like it was!!!
Sunshine Thoughts!

Good morning... still can't smell anything, but at least whatever is coming out seems to be making me feel better.. A bit scared that I'll not be able to fight off this cold and the chemo at the same time.. But, I am hoping the dr's know what they are doing when they told me yesterday that as long as the blood levels are good I'll be able to get treatment.. which I so need at this point.. Well.. crossing my fingers for feeling better tomorrow and of course worried about passing this pesky cold to the baby.. hopefully not... For now, I'll just work away as I look at the nice sunny skies out my window... Hope some of you can get out there and enjoy the day on my behalf!!
Marina

Isn't this sunshinie WONDERFUL! Wow! I need to get back outside and do SOMETHING! What a mental boost the sunshine is!
Jackie, I have the Vista system, too and had the same touble as you with the up-and-down narrow posts. I followed your directions and I am back with the wider posts. Thank you, thank you!
Laura, I like your hair. It doesn't look too red in your avatar but I do like the darker color. Very flattering!
Mary Jane and I had a great time on our shopping excursion yesterday. I have about got my Easter baskets all finished. I even make one for my son and his wife and love doing it. I made it home about 9:45 last night.
I'm off to enjoy this lovely weather. I hope everyone is soaking up some of these rays!

Just a quickie here. Rita -- I'm am so happy you were able to "fix" your computer. I so hated the way it was and really thought I was forever doomed ( this computer has tons more memory so should last for a very long time ) and I too was thrilled to get back to the wider version. I also decreased the size of the type from the same area as I don't need it as large as it was. That can also be done on the bottom of your screen, but better from the other area.
Went and had my big blood draw. Funny thing.....after being at the emergency room a couple of weeks ago where my blood pressure was wonderful....suddenly at Mt. Vernon it was high146/96 which is not near what it normally is -- with my meds. They rechecked it today and it is still high. They sent me home with a blood pressure machine I can use on myself with the self-inflating cuff --- the kicker was.....we tried it out in the office and my blood pressure was already going down. I think there is something afoot with the machines in their office. I know they have to be re-calibrated every so often and maybe it is close to time.....or maybe for the first time in my life I am getting high readings just by going --- knowing it is going to be taken. Well, we will see. I have to do it twice a day and report back in with my numbers after a week.....or in a couple of days if it stays too far out of range.
I'm sure it will be fine....though it is one of the things that usually gives you no indication ( unless it gets really high ) that a problem is there. I will do wonderful.
See you all later. I'm off to feed feral cats. Be checking in later.
Lots of hugs, Jackie

Good Afternoon~~ What a great SUNNY day~!
I wrote down on April, 23rd Lunch at Pf Chang.. Thanks to Donna and rest of ladies to set the date.. Cna't wait to meet you all!!!
Laura- I hope you are not working that day, I love to see you again~!
Jackie- I enjoyed your wisdom too and love the picture of new kitty, precious... I hope your blood pressure will get back to normal soon..
Donna- I hope you feel better.. I know how hard to control emotional things, let's take deep breath and let it out with ah~~~~
Looks like you and I have lot of things going on and for me it's frustrating, w/o knowing what's coming next... My dh wants to move again and he applied few different locations already, why I am not surprised...
Marina- I hope you get better soon.. I had bad cold during the chemo too, I used box of Kleenex by myself less than 3 hours and my 2 year old son got it from me and he ended up at ER with the high temp. with seizer.. we had to call 911..omg, that was the worst and most scary moment of my life... and I felt so bad he got it from me...
My thoughts and prayers are going out to the ladies with treatment or waiting on any results..
-
Hello everyone. We got back from our cruise Sunday. Had a good time. Weather was wonderful. I has taken me 2 days to catch up with all the posts. Today was my last Herceptin. Hurrah!!! My next Onc appt is 3 months from now. They also made an appointment to see about getting my port out.
Best wishes to all of you still going thru treatment. Annette
-
Interesting....blood pressure reading tonight -- 128/85. I do think there is something up with the machinery at the Clinic, but will withhold judgment till I have done this a few more times.
Elf, sorry to hear that a possible move may be in your near future. I think your hubby must have been a Marco Polo or Christopher Columbus type in a former life....he seems to so enjoy "discovering" new places to put down temporary roots. I am sorry about your little one and hope he is doing much better now. That I'm sure was really scary.....the little ones seem so defenseless when they are sick. They bounce back a little better and quicker than we do though.
Well, I need to do a couple of things and get myself something to nibble before Denny get home from work. Had a great breakfast at the Waffle Station Restaurant after the blood work. About the only time I will allow myself....a big waffle, 2 eggs, hash browns and coffee...I am still not hungry and that was 11 a.m. this morning, but I have night meds to take so need to get a muffin with p-nut butter. See you all later.
I really enjoyed the sun today. Make me a cheerful, happy camper.
Hugs, Jackie
Hi to Bj, Connie, Laura, Wendy, Smerf, Susan,Tdbear.....well all you fantastic people.
-
Hi All! Had my biopsy today! The doctors used much smaller needles than the doctor who did my first core biopsy. No glue used this time. I doubt I'll get an infection like I did the first time. I'll have the results in two days. There were actually two areas that the doctor found both in the same vacinity. The way I was positioned I could see the monitor and the doctor explained what she was seeing and doing. It was really cool.
It was so nice to be out in this warmer weather instead of in the office. Makes it hard to believe that we may have the horrid s word this weekend Maybe their wrong.
Have a wonderful evening!
Carolyn

Thinking of you all. I am teaching this whole week and it feels okay, but I will be happy to have freedom again with Friday
Wendy, I heard about the teacher cuts in Elgin. Would that be your DH's school? It is all very confusing and alarming. HOW do you cut 1000 postitions and still keep the school functional?
Carolyn, I am waiting with you.
Jackie, hope the BP comes down.
Okay, amidst all this, I have to tell you that I do not have gout. I have arthritis in my foot. It is called a bunion and it now reminds me of old ladies complaining of their bunions and not old men complaining of gout. So I guess I am happy. I do not know how to feel, really. .So off to the podiatrist I go. Isn't life merry? I was told that I could not blame this one on Arimidex! So keep swallowing that little white pill, girls. I would have anyway and would have just overdosed on cherry juice if it was the gout caused by Arimidex. Life is becoming baffling for me.
Have fun tomorrow and love being Irish for a day!

Hi all,
Donna, believe it or not, my boss will be gone again on the 23rd. He has a his own place in Florida and is back and forth often this time of year, sometimes a whole week, other times just a long weekend. I love it, then golf season starts in May!
I may as well add my lastest malady to the list - I have been getting my period every two weeks since January. I was in menopause from the chemo up until about a year ago from now, then went back into menopause for the summer. This fall I started getting periods again and once I went for close to 60 days in between, but I knew it was not menopause because the hot flashes did not start again. Well, like I said since January I have been getting my period pretty regularly every two weeks. And it is heavy and times and just nasty. Also, I have been exhausted for awhile and I think I am probably anemic because of this. I called my gyno yesterday and I am going for an utrasound thusday night. I told them it was starting to affect my quality of life. Truthfully, this is more disruptive and annoying than chemo ever was.
They called me back today and after the dr. heard about my issue, if nothing shows up on the ultasound and since I am not a candidate for birth control pills they will due a unterine albation (sp?). It is basically removing the lining of the uterus and will hopefully stop all bleeding for a while and if it does come back, it will hopefully be like a normal cycle. They do put you out for this and it is done at the hospital, which is fine with me. I know someone who recently had a uterine biopsy and she said she would rather have her uterus removed than go thru that again. I will also remind the dr. that my mom had uterine cancer, but was much older than I am now, in her 60s.
Just wondering if anyone else had this issue while perimenopausal or had this procedure done.
Hope everyone can get outside and enjoy the weather before winter returns this weekend.
Lisa

Good morning girls
Lisamed I wish I could give you some info but I have nothing. I am sure someone here will come through.
Zap. Arimidex does cause artheritis. That was one of my main concerns with it. I am glad its not gout. I cant believe how much you are working.
-
NO, NO....We don't want snow this weekend!!!!
Jackie, my blood pressure is always significantly higher when I'm at the doctor's office than when I take it at home. My dr. calls it the "white coat syndrome." The nurse usually takes it when I first get there. Then we go about the rest of the visit and before I leave they take it again. It has almost always gone done from the first reading.
Carolyn...crossing my fingers and toes for a good biopsy report for you. Please let us know as soon as you can. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Nana...l hope you had a great time! YEA! No mo' herceptin! Are you going to be able to make the Bosom Buddies dinner tomorrow night? I'd love to see you again.
Oh Lisa, there is always something, isn't there? You poor thing! You probably are bordering on anemic! I don't know anything about this procedure so can't help you there. Hang in there, though. The days do get brighter! :-)
Well, I'm off to bowl this morning. We are now done with the Tuesday morning bowling league except for our fun day and bowling banquet in two weeks and we've only got a few more Wednesdays to bowl. I love bowling but once the weather turns nice, I want to be outside.
Hugs to all of you...........
Rita

Lisa...No. heaviy periods but it is great you are seeing your DR. Have heard this before as a menopause affect though. IT has to be affecting your life big time and it is not something to live with!!! I am in the midst of what ovaries are needed for as they are wanting to remove them and even in menopause they do serve a purpose. ALSO.. glad the lunch date will work.. good timing for you and ALL of us to meet!!
Susan..Our school distrct having ton of layoff of non tenure teachers..pink slips goin out this week. Next year, some classes are said to be goin to approx 30 students per class. As a part time teacher, NO way for me!!!Berhavior is a issue in class room as it is these days!
Jackie...Will you check ypu BP today, to see if it was that time or machine off? Don;t ignore!
Carolyn...Glad your BX is done. Healthy and good thoughts goin.
budders....aren't you goin top FLA. soon??!!! Hope YOU are WELL!!And your golden..mine are total mud puppies. My one goldenLiberty went "swimming in mud" one morning.. the blond one of course!!!!
Be well and enjoy the SUNSHINE!!Teach tomm and will be enjoying today.

Just got out of the hospital after trying to do 10 days of Xeloda/Tykerb but it gave me severe diarrhea for the 10 days and I was dehydrating. Ended up my kidney creatine levels were 2.8, normal is 1.1 and my potassium level was 1.1 and should be 3.5. My sugar levels went up to 148 so they had to give me insulin to lower it. I was so stunned that all of these things happened due to the chemo and dehydration. Now my kidneys just need to heal. How can I find out what other things like that can happen?
Seeing my onc today to go back on the Xeloda/Tykerb but at a lower dose and with some diarrhea meds.
Sun is shining! I am planning my pink garden! Decided to start the plants from seeds since I am home! Cannot wait to see the results!
I am in Downers Grove so the luncheon sounds great to me too!

Elf - Hi - I would love to see you too! Annette - So glad you had a nice vacation! Congrats...NO MORE HERCEPTIN for you! PORT BE GONE!
Susan - I'm glad it's not Gout. That can be a real chronic pain-in-the-butt! I have a bunion too. Next time we get together, let's see whose is worse! lol My Podiatrist told me to only have surgery when it gets to the point of being constantly painful. Other Pod's were practically begging me to have surgery. Of course, I've chosen to wait. When it acts up, I use a topical natural cream that my Pod recommended. It's great to NOT have to take a synthetic systemic pain reliever. Best wishes to you.
Lisa - Best wishes to you on Thursday. Fingers crossed - maybe it's just a cyst. Keep us posted.
Carolyn - Glad the biopsy went well...hang in there. Everything's crossed for you!
Joann - I was wondering where you've been. So sorry you went through all that. Hang in there. And...I would love to see photos of your pink garden when it's up and blooming!
----------------------------------------
HI EVERYONE! Hope you're all enjoying this warm spring-like day. Had b-fast with a gal pal this morning and am now heading out to the forest to do some clean up.
-
Joann.. Great!! A nice luncheon may be just what you need!!!Take it slow and rest up, do the fluids for the kidneys!!!!
Ok Laura and Susan.. I do not have gout or need to see a Podriaist..but i have a horrid corn on my little piggie toe..lolol!!! It hurts. Ready to put some duct tape over it to keep the corn pad in place!
Lisa.. Good thoughts goin for you Tomm.!!!]
Finsihed vacumming house, garage, car.Walked the dogs 1/2 mile, i then walked and cleaned the yard and got a manicure. Whew.. this is what sunshine does for me and HUNG blankies out on line. Goin to MIL's for corned bef and cabbage as DH works tonight.
Stay in the SUN!!Donna

Hello.. I am at treatment.. counts were good so was able to get my tx.. also got examined by my Onc.. he said my lump is flatter softer and smaller.. and he can't feel my enlarged node anymore.. So I am a happy camper. He will check in a month and if still more progress then he'll hold off scanning for another month.. Needed some good news.. DH has my cold now.. and baby decided to be up 12-6 am.. UGH.. hoping she is not getting my cold.. But.. now I'm a happy camper so won't let the cold get to me... Oh, he is checking my vitamin D and will allow a supplement.. so good news!!
Loving the sun outside the window as I work away and read these posts at the hospital..
Have a great day everyone!!

Joanne, how scary. Isn't it odd how well each react to those meds in our own ways. Now what? I am guessing they need to stop that regime or was it over anyway?
I was wondering about Marina and up she popped with her post. So glad for your good news.
Just made our flights to DC right after Easter. The cherry blossoms will hopefully be in full swing,
Buds, I do work a lot. I rationalize that I am working so much because I want the money to spend on fun things, but I hare come to this terrible conclusion that I am a working person at heart. I do not want to work full time and I am thrilled I retired, but I love the structure work provides. This was a great week for me to work as we are getting our house aluminum sided and the pounding and lack of privacy is awful.
Later...................

Sun, glorious, sun! I need to get out there and take a walk before it goes down.
I'm STILL battling this plague (at least, that's what I've decided it actually is
). My husband had the same thing - fever, bad cough - and it lasted almost 2 weeks. He's still coughing a little, but feels fine. Mine started with body and joint pains that I initially attributed to Femara SE's flaring up. But then I went into the rest of it, and it's just hanging on! I did start Levaquin a few days ago, and haven't had the fever since. Now, if I could only quit coughing and get some sleep! I swear, I feel like I've been sick since early December. I only had some brief periods of time in there when I felt well. I think I'm due a nice long healthy stretch. I have so much that needs doing around my house and all I want to do when I come home from work is just lay on the couch. That has to stop soon!
Lisa - It sounds like your Gyne is talking about an Endometrial Ablation. They've become a fairly common outpatient procedure for women with heavy bleeding issues (menorrhagia). There are several different ways to perform the procedure, and I'm sure your doctor will explain which method he uses. Several of my co-workers have had the procedure and all have been happy with the results. It is really good that you are getting a sonogram first though, to check for fibroids, polyps, thickened endometrium, etc. Part of our office protocol is for a patient to also have an endometrial biopsy prior to the ablation, but that can be done at the time of the procedure. I had an endo bx. in the past and yes, it hurt like hell. I hate to admit it, but the desire to never do that again was part of my decision to have my hysterectomy! But to be fair, I have seen many women have one and, while it's uncomfortable, they do just fine. Like most in-office procedures, the patient pain responses are extremely varied.
I would DEFINITELY speak to your doctor about your mother's history of having uterine cancer. There has been some concern about diagnosing endometrial cancer in a patient who is post-ablation.
Hope it all works out for you! Maybe they'll just find a little trouble-making polyp in there and they can just snip it out (also outpatient).
-
YEA Marina, we love hearing good news! So glad that the lump is smaller and that he can't feel the enlarged node anymore! SUPER!
