Fancy,
Thank you for sharing the picture with us. Like Denise said, my heart does go out to you.
Hugs, Madison -
I just talked to Jankay and she is so full of emotion because she received an afghan. She said it could not have come at a better time, she really needed it. I told her to wrap and feel all the hands of love that went into making it for her. On her behalf (her kids are dominating the puter) Thank you to all of you for your expression of love and support.
-
Thank you Z for letting us know Jankay received her afghan....we want her to enjoy and and feel all the hands of love that went into the afghan.
Ladies, I mailed 3 this week...Jankay received one....we have two more packages that should be received....I'll do some tracking later today,
Hugs, Madison. -
Madison, I'll be mailing squares to you tomorrow. Am going to send a few more to you this time with Vickie getting less. My aunt is doing this also and is whipping them out like crazy. LOL We'll have more next week I'm sure.
Hugs
Liz -
Liz, thank you.....I was not going to work on any afghans yesterday or today because of DD's law school graduation..but...I can't help myself...yes, I have been working on afghans.
Also, I tracked the afghan that was mailed Monday and it was delivered yesterday. Jankay received hers today....and hopefully someone will receive one tomorrow....
Be back later....Hugs, madison -
To all crafters:
I've recently received a ton of yarn from the mom of a friend. She has had a stroke and cannot knit. She wanted to make sure the yarn was used. I would like to share this with anyone doing the afghan squares or any other kind of charity knitting. Please PM me if you need yarn. Thanks.
love,
Cherryl -
Hi all!
Madison: I mailed squares yesterday!! Priority..so they should be there Monday. oops..make that Tuesday cuz there is no mail on Monday!
Cherryl: What a wonderful donation! I'm sure your Mom's friend will be thrilled to see how it is used!
Hugs,
Denise -
First: Fancy, I was SO sorry to hear about your dear husband, I was at a loss for words for a few days. Life is so short and so precious. God bless you both and I hope you will continue to come here for support and caring and keep us posted on how you are doing.
Madison: Mailed a package of 15 squares this morning but I don't guess you will get them until late next week. Good that Denise beat me.
Cherryl that is good news too about the yarn. Jule/JPANN may need some, maybe you can PM her. I am still using up my stash. -- Donna in VA -
Hi Donna,
I just mailed a package off to Jule.
Hi Jule, it's on its way. And I have more when you need it.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.
love,
Cherryl -
I just have to say that I Love this site! How everyone is so considerate and think of others....not only are we making squares and having them assembled. But, when ladies need help with supplies...you are right there!
Hugs,
Denise -
Denise, I agree with you....everyone here is wonderful.
The speaker at my DD's law school graduation said that the graduates should remember only one four letter word......if they remember this word then they could change their city, community, state and world. The four letter word was HELP....give help where needed...use your abilities and talents to help others...make a difference
I thought of all of you during the commencement speech...because what each of you do is HELP....help to make someone's life better by letting each and everyone of our recipients know they are loved. We have sent over 19 afghans to individuals. Each afghan takes 42 squares...you have made all these squares ..you are all AWESOME.
Hugs, Madison -
Wow Madison, that 798 squares from women all over the country. I'm so proud to be a part of this group and there aren't enough "thanks" for you and Vicki for the hard work you do to take the squares and make beautiful heart warming afghans. I am so thankful I found this thread. It really means a lot to me.
love,
Cherryl -
i agree cheryl
they are awesome
i LOVE MINE -
hi to all, my name is Lucy i go by hollyann on the chat line. jankay sent me to this site because i love to crochet and was interested in the quilts. she sent me a beautiful picture of herself holdsing one of the afghans she had received. I am very much interested in contributing to the afghan squares. if some could e-mail me my address is www.lucyemmons222@yahoo.com. thank you very much
love hugs and prayers,
Lucy -
Hi hollyann/lucy. Welcome to the wagon circle.
-
Welcome Luch/HollyAnn.....Vickie and I are the two individuals who construct the afghans from the squares....I tried sending an e-mail to you, but received an invalid e-mail address response. I am sure Vickie will send you her address also.
Thank you so much for helping us. As you can see from some of these messages, we have given over 19 afghans to our wonderful bc sisters (which means that all of our contributors have made over 798 squares).
Each "square" is really a 7 x 9 crochet rectangle. I think on page one of 2 of this thread there are several links that have some instructions (that is, if you need any instructions). These squares can be single crochet, dc, shells, any pattern you like to crochet. Any color yarn (make sure yarn is washable)....we love all the different colors in the afghans.
If you have any other questions, please ask....
Again, thank you for helping us.
Hugs, Madison -
Hi Lucy, and welcome. I just have to say the squares can also be knitted. I know you said you crochet but if anybody else asks, they can be either. Please use non-wool yarn. Wool will shrink when washed. I am working with some wool right now for another project and I must say that the acrylic yarn is so much more pleasant to handle that I would prefer it anyway.
Madison, that is a beautiful sentiment at your daughter's graduation. I was at one of the activities related to Rolling Thunder this morning. It really struck home that some people just do SO MUCH to help others. We should take time to thank them and try to contribute back in some small way as often as we can. -- Donna in VA -
19 afghans!! Unbelievable!! I have to look back and see when this project was even started! I remember not having a clue as to how to contribute, but going by the name "Damn Determined Denise"....I figured something out! I love the way everyone has helped everyone...sharing patterns, yarn and postage. And for some of us...........no names............sharing our lack of talent, and discovering the Knifty Knitter!!!
Love ya all!
Denise -
What is the knifty knitter Denise? I admit to being craft challenged. Is this something any dummy could do? I'd love to help..........Marsha
-
Its very easy to use Marsha once you learn how to wrap the yarn--which is very easy. You can get them at Walmart.
-
Marsha, I have NO craft talent at all. I tried over and over and then found this Knifty Knitter. It's a loom and soo simple to learn. Ask Denise, she and I were both in the dark but she got hers and learned it before me. For the rectangle one at wal mart it's about $11 and worth every penny. It's fun, too. I don't know how many rectangles I've done on it. Give it a whirl. Good luck
