I can't get my act together and I don't know why

Sue and Harley,
Thanks! Both of you saying that it does get better gives me hope!

I call it the roller coaster to recovery. UP and down, at first more down. I too have sat around in a very ratty bath robe all day long and screened phone calls. Since I live alone, I do not have to face anyone or prepare meals or any other family activities. When I go out, I try to put on a happy face, but every once in a while it hits - the gloomies. I felt pretty much the same way after my husband died - did not think anyone else in the world ever felt the same way. There is enough misery in the world without going out looking for it and it plunked itself in our laps unexpectedly. We can deal with it sometimes, but there is indeed a period of trauma and recovery needed. I am one week out of re excision surgery and praying for a good final pathology on Friday. The waiting and not knowing gets to me more than knowing, if that makes any sense.
I did not decorate, the good part is I will not have to take down anything or put it/them away. My mouse found one of the traps I set and I will have to get out the shovel and spray more Clorox on the floor. A bit of a funny: my son asked what I want for Christmas. I told him, rubber gloves, pocket size hand sanitizer, lyson and clorox and some throw away rags. I am so germ conscious that sometimes I drive myself mad. But my counts remain good and I hope this does not disqualify me from being on this thread. I do have piles of papers here and there and a stack of magazines over there. My windows and patio door may never get cleaned and my carpet could use a good shampooing - after a good vacuuming. Since I am not "allowed" to vacuum - yet, I have the perfect excuse.
Gentle Hugs, and a goofy smily face for each of you. Merry Christmas if I dont get back on before. Nancy

Nancy
I don't think it counts if you disinfect your germy areas of your house. We have to be careful to keep the house clean, and to wash those hands, so we don't get sick.
I'm praying for good news from your pathology report, on Friday. Please check in and give us the good news!!
Merry Christmas!
Hugs,
Harley

Oh boy..... thank you..... we keep our common areas clean. Personal spaces - disaster. And sometimes I have the downer thought of my family packing and clearing the room after I am gone. What will they do with all the angels and will they finish my quilts? We have a vaccuum but it sits silently in the storage closet. It has not seen daylight in months. And if we swept we would have to name the dust bunnies (and love them and squeeze them and love them.
I think I still qualify.... tee heee

Hi everyone and a Merry Christmas to all my slacker, can't get it together friends.
I didn't put up a tree this year, however, I do have a small decorated area.

I feel a little bit more in the holiday spirit. Tomorrow will be spent with my wonderful sons. :-)
Love you all!

Well, I went to mom's (her house is always clean) for 2 days and dh wont' be home most likely till sunday and dd is out with her beau to other family xmas, so the house is NOT decorated, or CLEAN and I'm really glad I'm not in the mood to even feel down about it all.
Baa humbug to xmas now. It'll be over in 2 days and we'll be back in the old swing.
But do have a merry xmas for me too ladies! Glad someone is in the mood, b/c this country is really in need of some uplifted spirits to get us through this whole mess!
-
I know some of us feel "Bah! Humbug", but as Wish said, it will all be over soon!
Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!
-
Please celebrate with me: NO EVIDENCE OF CARCINOMA, final pathology today after the re excision.
-
YIPPEE!! Great news, Nancy!!!
Happy New year to all... May we have a Happy, Healthy, New Year, and may we never get our act together, so we can all stay here on this thread!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you (((((((((( ladies ))))))))))))))). Without your care, concern, support, prayers and this website, I could not have done it. LOVE, Nancy
-
Great news Nancy!!! I know your so relieved! Yay!!!
<HUGS>

-
Nancy, Great news on the path report!!!! You must be so relieved.
Harley, I second your motion, Never to get it together, so we can remain on this thread for a long and untogether time.
Hope that everyone had a nice Christmas. I was together at the 11th hour. Was all done and went to bed at 1:30am on Christmas Eve. It is really hard being Santa Claus and a wife and Mother and have a part time job and be a daughter all at the same time. Oh yes and be a sister also and have crappy BC all at the same time. No wonder why I do not have it together. I don't know who I am supposed to be.
Now onward to New Year's. Yahoooooo!!!!!

I have come to the conclusion that I am no longer qualified to post on this thread. Not only is my apt. spotless and organized chore wise but my daughter went away for 3 days and she lives in same apt bldg. and I cleaned her kitchen (heaped and heaped full of dishes) too. I ruined her pink scrubby. I will be away when she comes home and finds out I did that.
-
Goodness, dream - did some cleaning gremlin come and take over your body??? I am usually organized and keep my apartment clean - ish, but I do have lapses from time to time. However, I live alone and have no pets, so who is going to tell if I am not??? You have never misplaced some thing or forgot an appointment ? come on now... we ALL qualify one way or another for this thread.
I am happy you are able to keep ahead of disorganization and dirt and have the time and energy to do it. Don't beat yourself up for that - grab a cup of coffee or tea and sit with us a while and we can let our minds wonder.
-
Wanna know what happens when you try to get your Christmas act together? and get all OCD about the pre-lit tree that doesn't light? and you spend 4 days winding 6 or 7 25-foot lengths of icicle lights around every strand and and replace every broken bulb? and can barely straighten up and have to lie on heating pad for the 4 hours you sleep? and your fingers are raw and your nails destroyed? and then you spend hours with your beautiful DD (who, along with everyone else in the family, has not come near the tree during the rewiring process) hanging the exquisite fantasy ornaments?
You have 4 power outages/surges due to high winds and come down, after your first long sleep, to find....the bottom level of lights still lit, and about 6 other bulbs, and a dead angel. I quit.
-
That rant written, HOORAY FOR NANCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Sorry, daffodil, but you made me laugh and i needed it. " I quit " really says it all.
-
Yay, Nancy!
Dream, I don't think you have to worry about being kicked off this thread. As Daffodil so entertainingly illustrated, all of your recent behavior is clearly a sign of OCD & is therefore pathological so we should really all feel sorry for you & you'll definitely need us when you hit the inevitable crash.
Daff, LMAO. I can relate from years past. This year, I only managed to hang my outdoor wreath on Xmas morning a few hours before my guests were due, then I almost didn't get my already-decorated tabletop tree up out of the basement to stick in the livingroom. My excuse is that I only recently survived BC, but to tell everyone the truth, I've been slacking off on Christmas decorations for a few years now. I have done it up big & I have done nothing in years past. Comes in waves.
This year Christmas was definitely minimal, but I figured getting the house reasonably clean & cooking a good dinner took the priority. That's my story & I'm sticking to it.
Hugs to all.
PATRICE!!!!! How are you?? How long do you have your son before he has to leave??
-
My dd spent the whole day scrubbing her room. Apparently one of our kitties wasn't happy we left him home while we were away even though he was well cared for, because he sprayed a bunch of stuff in her room. How is it a teenage girl can spend hours cleaning HER room, but can't take 5 minutes to pick up her crap out of the living room?
I was going to put away my Christmas Village today, but decided to keep my leg with cellulitis elevated and let the village sit where it is until I feel like putting it away. At this rate, it could be there until Easter.
-
For years now, I have managed to convince my family that any Christmas decorations that have not become fire hazards should be left in place until after January 6th, the feast of the Epiphany, and the twelfth day of Christmas. That gives us more than a week before we need to start working on putting decorations away.
-
So then...if it's still there for valentines day, you sprinkle red heart graffiti around it. St. Patricks, a little green from the lepros, then for easter, you take away the snow and hide tiny chocolate m&m's or eggs around the scene
Do NOT work on that scene while you are recouping Jane! Don't you think you've done enough damage for one year already!
Seriously... IF anyone mentions it stil being up, the best course of action would to be to moan and groan as you grab your leg and tell them the boxes are _______ (fill in where they are located) and that you're so happy to have some help putting them away while you are recouping!

-
PatMom,
We ALWAYS leave the Christmas tree up til after Jan. 4th, because that is my Wedding Anniversary! This year, I will try to take down all the decorations after Jan 6th, because I think that leaving them up through 12th Night sounds very cool!! So... it may be AFTER that, but not promising that it will be on Jan 7th!!!
Happy New Year!!
Harley

Did I miss something: Everyone got it "together" these past couple of days??? I totally lost it when I found a dead mouse splayed out in my guest bathroom tub. OCD with the lysol and rubber gloves, so I guess I do not need to clean that room for another year or so... I even threw out the shower curtain, put up a new liner.
Hang in there and Happy New Year.
-
Yep, a good case of OCD
Nancy, couldn't you have just washed the curtain
Sorry you are still having problems. Have to tell you about the time my mother left decon out for the mice at our cabin years ago. She came in the spring to open up and said she couldn't take a step without stepping on BATS! They'd gotten in through the fireplace when the cap blew off in a storm. When mice/bats eat that stuff, they get horrible dehydrated and seek out water, thus the toilet was full of them. She said she had visions of just burning the place down! I was working and couldn't get away,so dh went up to help her bury them in the back 40. She was ill about it all
Hope that's the last one you see Nancy! I'd be bonkers too with them. {{HUGS}}

So how's my peeps? I've missed you gals.
KAK: My son leaves this Tuesday...wish I could make time stand still. I also go back to work on Tuesday. Once things settle down, I should have some time to hang out here with all of you.
Got my house cleaned before he came home, with the exception of a couple areas that I threw/hid things, but it's been pretty nice being able to eat in our dining room and live like a halfway normal person. The trick will be keeping up with things after he leaves. Have a 50-50 chance of that happening.
Hope you all had a wonderful holiday and that each of you will enjoy a healthy...or at least healthier...2009!
Consider yourselves all hugged!
Much love-
Patrice
-
Thanks,and a {{hug}} back at you, Patrice!
It's been a nice/quiet time here, with NO visitors (I went elsewhere for christmas
so I didnt even have to clean much
Loved it! -
Well the counter has dishes, there are coffee splotches on the kitchen floor. I have difficulty bending over or standing for long periods of time.... so sigh, the dust bunnies are back and hopping up and down to be noticed. So I can be welcomed back in the fold again. As for my daughter, she has not washed a dish since I cleaned her dishes. I also cleaned her kitty litter (she has 3 kitties) and one of the cats kept jumping on my back. The other two showed me that they were paper trained when the k-box was empty (I was CLEANING it). They all got pets and love.
I am working on my new years resolution:
"If a task you have begun, do not stop until its done."
So all of the projects, books and things I have started are to be finished in 2009. Now as long as I do not life on this list.....! I do not want that finished in 2009.... am hoping for 2039.
