Robin, I'm so happy to see you back as well. Big hugs!
-
Thanks Colleen - she just rescheduled for next Monday which is good because she has an appt with the onc Tuesday so she'll only have to wait a day for the results...keep your fingers crossed for her!
Love Marisa
P.S. Hello newbies! I'm new here too
Gina..at least Mr. Fluffy's name is not Fluffykins - he would protest that more
That's what I would've called him..hehe
My husband doesn't like when I call him ..kins..I just do it to annoy him of course! -
thanks Jaz,glad to be back also.Wish I could have been with all of you over the weekend.we missed a great time.
Will be there next year though. -
I'm sure someone has a better pic of the Quilt that Shirley made..but here is one for starters!
Hugs,
Denise -
Robin, I have Beth's email but not her phone number; PM me if you need her email address. If you are depressed, please, go talk to the counselor.
BMD/Brenda, welcome and glad to see you posting. If I remember, I'll send you instructions on how to post pics and your avatar. If I forget due to chemo brain, PM me.
Wild/Jan, which part of CA are you going to be in? You'll have to let us know when you are coming and we'll do our best to get together.
Peter, I'm sorry that you are leaving. I'll miss you.
Cheryl, the weather has been unseasonably cool this week. Saturday I was at my sd's bridal shower and it was hot, Sunday I was making soups for the week. Mills is very close to where I live. You need to make a trip down here.
Colleen, back from sister's colonoscopy - 1-1/2 hours from start to finish. They did discover IBS but nothing more serious so she has to take some meds and see him in two weeks.
Denise, thanks for posting the pic of Shirley's quilt. That is awesome.
Marisa, I had a note for you but I can't remember what it was......I'm sure I'll think of it and will update my post.
Oh, my boot camp results.....not encouraging but not discouraging....no change although I did lost about a lb. a week......hmmmm.....I paid for another session today so next Monday I'm back out there.
Margaret -
Robin, I have Beth's number. PM me if you want it. In fact, she called me yesterday.
Doris -
Charlene, is that 2 fish swimming in the opposite direction? It is beautiful and looks like a Pisces symbol in some ways. (( am a Pisces). I'm sure you have lovely memories of her! What a talent.
-
That's ok Margaret - I'm still not good at remembering what people wrote or taking notes....probably because I'm looking at work and working at the same time or looking late at night and playing with my cats at the same time
Marsha, Any news on a better Dr in the area that will help you out? -
Hi All,
It looks like Pinkstock was a total blast for those that went. Ive really been enjoying all the pictures. Im crossing my fingers that Ill actually be able to go next year.
It did turn out for the best that I didnt go as tempting as Debs last minute coaxing was. I ended up spending the weekend with my MIL as my FIL is being transferred to a different nursing home. Hes threatening suicide (actually asked MIL to help) and while we all know its best for him to be somewhere they can best help him, its tough on her. So I went and kept her company and stuff.
Ive missed a lot, even though I keep reading pretty much every day.
Nicki good luck on the interview. My fingers are crossed.
Amy what cute puppies! But my DH would divorce me!
Denise itsy bitsy square? I missed something
Brenda I worked at a pizza place that had troubles with the A/C. Maybe its something about the pepperoni.
Cheri you got a boot! Thats great. Maybe you said and I missed it; can you take it off and wash? Thats the worst thing (among many bad things) about a cast.
Betty I hope the job hunt goes well and quickly. We are looking for a receptionist, but the commute would be a killer for you.
Peter my fingers hurt just reading about you. Poor guy. Do you have someone to kiss them and make them all better? Do Moms kiss boo-boos in Australia or is that an American thing? Im so uninformed.
Well, I am going to have to adopt Angels motto If its not one thing, its another. We found out today my son is being discharged from the Navy. He is devastated, poor kid. He was just never quite able to get back on track after he got back down there after my dads funeral. I dont know if it was just the work load, or Dads death, or stress probably a combination. Part of me can see why they couldnt keep him if he cant deal with stress; part of me thinks this is just totally unfair of them. We were hoping they would at least keep him as an electronics tech (hes qualified for that), just not nukes, but they decided not to. I know I dont have it nearly as bad as an awful lot of Moms, but I just feel so bad for him, and I dont know how to help. Rats. Anyway, send him positive vibes, please, and say a little prayer that he is able to make a good plan for whats next.
Hugs from A to Z.
Anne -
Good Afternoon Everyone! So many posts since this morning and not alot of time. So I guess Ill start with this page.
Jasmine: Poor baby! One of the major reasons I dont go away is that my dog and 2 cats would really have a hard time. They all rule this house - and nothing better change.
Colleen: whew! Im wiping the sweat off my forehead. You just helped me figure out what is going on with everyone. Hate not being able to get more computer time. Hi! Back atcha.
Emelee: Somehow I missed what is going on with your friend, but Im hoping for B9! Glad to see ya.
Denise: Thank you for the picture of the quilt. It is just absolutely beautiful. A touching moment for all!
Sherloc: What can I say, Im crying - its so darn pretty.
MargaretB: A pound a week is really a healthy wt. loss and it usually stays off. But I bet, you have more tone! I havent lost a pound, but my face does look thinner. Just went in the pool. Though I would swim 60 laps, did 90. Im on a Nicki special diet. Which means I dont know what Im doing. Trying to exercise, sick of south beach, cheating, then watching every calorie. Bet you have better endurance and thats a part of what this is all about.
MarshaB: Pisces here too! March 3rd. I just love being Pisces.
Anne: Your son. He did his part. In a selfish way, hes home and not going to Iraq. Time for him to start enjoying life again. There is so much controversy in the news nowaday, its beginning to look like VietNam was - and that plays games with our soldiers brains. Be glad he is home and help him start enjoying life without a heavy burdon.
BMD: Just seeing you post is great. You dont need to catch up, someone will write a post summarizing what others have said. Colleens was great for me today. Anyway, saying hello puts a big smile on my face.
So many more of you that I want to answer - but alas, my time is up. Hello from A to Z.
Vickie: Where are you sunshine sister.
-
What happened? Why are you leaving?
-
Seems to be some missing people today!! Madison,Vickie,Shokk..you all usually pop in from work! Cheri, don't recall seeing anything from you either.
Pam: Nice post.........but where are you today?
Puppy: Hoping all is going well for you!
Anne: I'm sorry to hear about your Son. You have had more than your share of WTH's lately. Prayers being sent and this might be a blessing that he is coming home.
Charlene: Everyone left but Mom............that's good, right? How'd the second fill go? I'm clueless about this procedure as I didn't have it!! The Girls are getting to Big for your shirts!! To Funny!
Nicki: 90 laps! Holy crap.......please tell me it's a small pool! Your diet is probably not a bad thing....sometimes being on a 'paid' diet is to stressful and backfires...I think you're doing fine!
Vickie: I think you should name your Birthday Present: Glenda!
I am just brain dead today....can't think of who I have wrote to and who I have not....Sorry.
Colleen: So glad you were able to see Warren, if only for a short bit! He'll be home before you know it and school will be in session!
Amy: Them there Pups are just to cute!!!! I understand that Gina is taking one of them!! Can't stay mad at Peanut for getting herself in trouble when you see the outcome!!
I'll be back....something just doesn't seem right to me on here today. Don't know why....maybe to many girls missing....just a 'gut' feeling that something is up.
What's up with someone with multiple identities? Just a short version........do we have spys? People playing around or people being malicious?
Robin: So glad to see you posting you naughty girl! See, we told you we'd hunt you down if you went missing and we sure did!! Sorry I missed your Birthday........hope you had a good one! How old are you now?????? JK!
I've got to go see what I've written to who......in the mean time....from Amy to Z....Love and Hugs
Denise -
Marsha, don't think I asked how the appt. went today...Did you make it through without wetting yourself? That is the worst! I had one a long time ago and I remember the tech telling me to wait to pee until the Doc had a chance to look at the Ultra Sound!! Good thing that was then and not now, cuz I know what I'd tell her today!
Also, any progress with Uniboob? Are you looking for a different Surgeon?
Hugs,
Denise -
I told you I was brain dead tonight! Forgot to Betty how things went today?
Hugs,
Denise -
Yea, got the use of Karl's PC again! Karl dropped mine off at the repair shop and they said it may be Friday until we get it
back. I thought I was going to hyperventilate!
Thank you to all regarding my niece. She had amazing talent and was a true free spirit. When I get my PC back I'll
post a pic of her. She was also very beautiful. Luckily I had her artwork uploaded to Photobucket so was able
to post it.
Peter - don't go
Jan - I'm supposed to do stretching exercise .. simple right? So why do I keep forgetting? Maybe I need a
dungeon to go to on a schedule!
Margaret - Yep, I'm like you in that regard as far as company! Love to have them, nice when they leave too.
Cheri - Where are you? How are things with Amber?
Marisa - Cute pic! Sending positive thoughts for your friend.
Brenda - You're right, we definitely deserve new duds if we can get em!
Robin - I'm jealous you'll get to meet Jankay. How sweet of you to give her a ride!
Colleen - Hoping you get rest tonight that you didn't get last night.
BrendaBMD - Great seeing you here in the circle!
Wild/Jan - Sorry to hear of your son needing surgery.
CherynC - I hope your appt. with the new onc went well. I'm happy to share my niece's artwork
Karen - Thank you. What a difference a week makes. You sound so much happier. Glad you had that trip away.
Jasmine - lmao about your spoiled dog's speak!
Colleen - Feel free to cheat off my posts anytime! If you try and read back in can take hours and hours!
Denise - Thank you for posting the pic of the beautiful quilt Shirley made. I'd love to see a close up of the
border.
Marsha - You are right about it being 2 fish! A lot of people don't see that and only see a design. It is also
done in the yin and yang design. She was also a pisces born on Feb 25th, 1980! How did your appt go today?
Nicki - You have the same birthday as Karl!
Anne - Sorry to hear about your son being discharged. Sending positive vibes his way for him finding a good
direction to go in now.
Denise - Yes, mom here is a good thing! lol My sister was wonderful here too as was my brother. But nice having
things getting back to a routine. It was actually my first post op fill yesterday and it went well. Funny how it
helped ease some of the discomfort I was having.
Jankay - how was your day?
Gotta go, dinner is on the table and I'm holding it up!
Love & Hugs,
Charlene -
All My Love, Puppy -
Brenda, Margaret and Cheryl, I'll let y'all know when we get a surgery date and our tickets changed. That would be so cool to meet you guys. If I remember correctly we will only have 2 maybe 3 days out there.
Our baby is in San Diego Marine boot camp. He's been there since Feburary, had pnemonia twice then got hurt during the cruicable. They passed him because he never quit, a senior DI on the night course pulled him off when he saw him hobbling up to the wall they climb over then jump down from. He is awaiting surgery on his torn knee cartilage and a nearly torn in half acl since mid May! They say maybe 6 months of healing after surgery then one more month of boot camp before he can move on. I guess its going to depend on if he heals up right if they will keep him or not. Pretty amazing to get letters from his fellow recruits thanking me for the candy I sent them and telling me how James has motivated them. They call him "gramps" because he's 22 years old. He had gone in to the marines a few years ago right out of high school and hurt his ankle bad enough to get a medical discharge. His recruiter had screwed up his contract leaving him with no time to heal up so they let him leave with the option to come back after a year. He waited two years and decided to go back in. I know he had alot of conversations with Shawn and Mike during their leaves, his two best friends that went in with him the first time. (Shawn and Mike came from single Mom families and still call us Mom and Dad as they kinda adopted us) So maybe those talks helped him decide to give it another try and here he is in med hold when he really should have graduated the first week of May if everything had gone right. I guess he's keeping on going after seeing how Mom and Dad have dealt with first a motorcycle accident and then BC in the past year. He just sent me a keychain that says "Marine Mom: Toughest Job in the Corps" James said well maybe God didn't want me to go to Iraq after all...he would have been heading there within a year after boot camp.
Nice to know there's another marine Mom here in this group! -
Ahahahaha Denise: Its a small pool, for sure!! Ends up being about 4 Olympic laps.
See ya all in the morning
Nicki -
Anne I'm so sorry about your son but as someone said at least he won't be involved in the war. I had such mixed feelings with my baby going in during this time, was proud of him but scared for him too. Being a Patriot Guard Rider we've seen too many young men like him come home in a box. I've shed many a tear for them especially the young ones. All three of my marine "boys" are proud of us standing up to the protesters at military funerals.
-
These are the protesters I speak of...this was the first PGR mission in Oklahoma back in November 05..look at what they do to the American flags and the horrible signs. Several states now have a law (thanks to us getting their attention) where they can only protest like an hour or 2 before and after a funeral and so many thousand feet away. Can you believe these people are a "church" in Kansas? Well its more like a cult since it is mostly family members in that church. Thats my husband front and center in the jeans jacket.
-
Here's a beautiful picture from a PGR mission...we have alot of bikers and we have people in cars/trucks that attend these funerals. If we aren't standing holding flags sometimes we come into cemetaries with flags already set up.
-
Want to learn more about the PGR? Here's our website. You will see on the right side all the missions going on in the different states...
http://www.patriotguard.org/ -
Wild/Jan, those are powerful photos. I have heard about that awful group from Kansas. The picture of the bikers with the flags brings a tear to my eyes. Thank you for sharing.
Anne, I am so sorry to hear about your son. I know how proud you are of both your boys and I am proud of them too! I am sure he wanted to stay so he could be with his band of brothers and fight the war... I have heard many many soldiers feel kind of lost when they get home because they want to be back fighting.
When does he return?
How about we give him a hero's welcome? I have sent many a care package to Iraq and Afghanistan- maybe we should all get together and make something for your Navy son to help him ease back to USA life and then make something for your Army son to remind him that he is loved and respected here at home?
I would really like to do it-
Please let me know if you think it is appropriate.
To all our other moms here with kids in the service, a Wagon Circle Care Package could be really cool don't you think??
I know that we have a couple here don't we? Wild/Jan, Madison... ooh I am forgetting. Let's do this! -
Gina - what a great idea. Count me in.
Okay - I can't think or stay awake. I'll see my wonderful family in the morning.
Hugs & Prayers
Liz -
Wow, it took me nearly an hour to read all of today's posts.
Just so you know who I am, I am the one holding up the quilt in the picture on the right hand side as you look at it.
Marsha- hope your US went well. I have to have one of those too sometime before the year is out. Also, are you going to Jamaica in December? We were there in March - had a great time. Be sure to climb Dunns River Falls, if you get the chance.
Cheri123 - I certainly remember chatting with you in the chat room. Haven't seen you there for ages though. It was so sad that Jen43 didn't make it. Have you heard from Mike recently? How are he and the kids doing?
Anne, so sorry about your son.
Wildabouthorses - the first picture of the protesters is very disturbing. I am certainly not a supporter of this war, but I do believe that our troops deserve our greatest respect!
Alwayshope - Sorry your doggy left a mess for you to clean up. This might sound funny, but my bunny has been in a huff too since I got back - he is finally coming around to being friendly again today LOL
Thanks to all for the warm welcome. I am looking forward to getting to know you all better as time goes on.
Glad to hear that most Pinkstockers have now gotten home safe and sound. We too had flight delays on Sunday, and ended up arriving home at about 4 am on Monday morning - with soaking wet baggage, since they left our cases out on the tarmac in the pouring rain!
Well, I came back to mountains of work, so I have to work this evening a bit too.
Hugs and chocolate xxxx to all
Elaine
Hugs and chocolate xxx to everyone -
Evening all....so sorry not to be posting
I couldn't find the top of my desk this morning
Now I can't find the floor of the laundry room
Have a great evening all -
Just watered some flowers and thought I would check in.
Anne - loved your thought that the Pepperoni was the problem with my A/C - you actually made me chuckle.
Gina, saw that you were told by gals at Pinkstock that you had a Southern accent - I about choked - If you are from NY and have a Southern accent - what would mind sound like - "country" I would think.
Denise, thanks for sharing the picture of the quilt. Shirley did a fantastic job.
Gina, count me in on the care package for service guys too.
WildJan - I have many mixed feelings at this point about the war - I do think the media fixates on all the stuff going wrong and nothing on all the good our troops do. I am proud of the troops and I tear up thinking of all the lost lives - all wars and now - that have kept me and my family safe at night to be free to sit here and talk with all of you. Vietnam was my generations war - I lost classmates there. I had best stop; I have strong feelings there.
Maybe a bit later everyone will have checked in for the day and let us know they are OK.
Oops, I meant to ask if I am the only one that is having this HUGE screen when I log on to the discussion board. Every thread if you try to read anything I have to scroll across - is it just something I am doing or is this the same with everyone? -
Wild/Jan I am very impressed with what you and your friends are doing. The site has some amazing photos. Thanks for that. My nephew is in the Air Guard and was in Afganistan last summer.
Gina, magnificent idea. Count me in, and yes, we could start by doing something for Annes son. That is perfect. -
Hello sweet sisters,
Looks as if we have lost Peter...no more big brother. Anyone no what happened and why he left. He seemed to be pretty unhappy about something that was said.
WildJan...I will check out your site tomorrow. The pictures of the protesters are so very sad. Say what you want about the war but support our boys who are there fighting for us.
Gina...great idea...count me in too!
Cheri Pal..where are you? How is Amber. Do we need to send out a posse?
Madison...miss ya!
Liz...just had to call and "pick" on ya today LOL.
Sue, Tgirl, Nicki, Choca, Denise, Anne, Alwayshope, Marsha, Angel, Puppy, Emelee, MB, Shokk (where are you?), Jankay, Robin, Iris, ChristineK, Casinogirl, everyone from Amy to Z...I love you all...I will catch up soon. In the meantime...sweet dreams and I'll see you in the morning.
Love and hugs to everyone
Vickie -
Gina, count me in too!
I need to go convince my son that he needs to put down his book and go to sleep. I thought he was already out, but I just heard him moving around again. Wish me luck!
Sweet dreams my dear friends!
Love you,
Sue
