how about drinking?

Congrats on the good brain MRI results, Ilona!
Yesterday, Bob caught that bug that's going around. We went out to a Piemonte winemaker dinner at Cellars tonight, and he could barely taste the wines (leaving the buying decision to me); his ears were so stuffed he left during dessert because he couldn't hear well enough to return the pages he got. I'm a bit nervous--got an important gig coming up Oct. 6 (Grove Folk Festival) and I can't afford laryngitis.
As to the DOTD, the wines were from Piemonte, Sicily, & the Veneto. First one was a Sicilian Pinot Grigio by Barone Montalvo; next three were Piemontese by Riva Leone--Gavi, Barbera & Barbaresco; with dessert, a Bariano Brut Prosecco (more refined than most Proseccos).

Mornin' ladies,
Wow ur DH must have really been sick, surprised he could stay that long. But leaving the wine list up to u is the perfect choice. Yep stay away from him.
JC u seem like u have very good attitude towards everything ur going thru now and the fact that u keep urself busy is great. Oh I know I talk about Joey a lot, but the first yr of his life my DD was very sick and he lived with me and after he spent every weekend with me and learned how to even clean my drains and was always helping me, literally waiting on me and staying close so we bonded so closely and now when he comes in my room and closes the door he wants to talk to me about very private things and we never repeat anything he talks or asks me about LOL I still call him my baby and he's 6'1'' and he agrees with me so... that's my story with him
OK Illi u' must have been a bartender cuz u really know ur drinks. Jeez I was and don't member any drink, but the simple ones like a beer.
Jazzy Joey is still in bed, he's so sick, Les is taking him to urgent care, I've hardly seen or talked to him he won't let me near him, brat.
Well everyone have a good day.
LUBS U ALL

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Thirsty Thursday! Sadie and I got to sleep in a little after I got up at 3:30 AM yesterday. But, I had a really good early ayem with the night staff yesterday, got lots accomplished.Going in at noon and working into the evening today, hoping to get as much accomplished with the evening shift, too. The work is showing results, the documentation patterns have improved enormously in the last few weeks. It's really nice to be able to point that out to people as I go. Sadie is pretty proud of everyone, too, or so she tells me!
Jazzy--I bet the eyes were tired by the end of the first day back at work! Glad you are taking care of yourself.
Janky--Glad to hear youreyes are recovering well, too, and that you are taking care of yourself as you should. I'm sure the restrictions are a pain, but better to follow them now and have a good result than risk undoing the good that was done.
Chi--I hope that Sears does put up something for protection. It's got to be cheaper to do that than to pay for damages if someone gets hurt in a situation like that one, or, God forbid, a deliberate attack situation. Sorry to hear about the train accident and how that's making Gordy's life harder. I do hope no one was hurt, but I'm with you, SOMEONE will find an injury somewhere, in someone. Sorry to hear about the meteorologist having to join our ranks, praying her journey hasn't been too hard. Ah, sparkling wines, what fun! Glad you guys had good ones!
Cammy Cat--Yup, it is officially fall! First day of Autumn was Monday, according to the calendar over my desk. That one really snuck up on me! Sorry to hear that Joey is under the weather. I hope it passes over quickly and isn't serious. I can't help but shake my head at you taking calls in your sleep. I wish I could do stuff like that in my sleep!
Librarian--I'm glad your PET scan went well. I tend to be grouchy with medical stuff cuz I can't have my coffee before hand. Sounds like you have gotten reasonably caught up on the carbs, if not the alcohol. I'm thinking of going to see the Downton Abby movie this weekend, if it rains like it's predicted to. I've heard good things about it.
HOORAY FOR ILLI!HOORY FOR GOOD SCAN RESULTS!!!
Chi--sorry to hear Bob's not well, praying you don't catch it.
Cammy Cat--praying for Joey, let us know what you find out at Urgent care!

Hi ladies - boy this week bites at work but will leave it there.
Cami - I hope Joey is okay. Let us know what they find out at UC? 🏥
JCS - how fun about your aunt coming & flying. I work close to the balloon park & been watching them get ready 🎈
Chi - I hope Bob is better soon too. 😷
NM - things going okay with the eyes. Week check up is tomorrow. I am really tired this week 😴
Ill- congrats on good brain scan results ❤️
Just talked to someone here who is newly diagnosed with bc. Going to share about BCO as a resource
-
Never been a bartender, just a cocktail enthusiast, lol 😆 but when our cabin is finished and we move out there, we will build a beach themed bar/shed. I plan to spend a lot of time ”relaxing” there.
-
Ill- I am making a road trip and coming to visit when that bar is in

No drinking tonight--possible dental emergency (which is putting me in Crazy Town), getting Happy ready to be sequestered for the night (NPO for bloodwork & ultrasound tomorrow). Electrician told me to keep this week open, so I did; landscaper dug the trench for the replacement line & conduit pipe--we had three dry days in a row. But then the electrician wasn't free till today and it'll rain tomorrow through Sun. I told him Mon. & Tues. will be dry...but we both forgot that's Rosh Hashonah. So the landscaper has to tarp over the trench to keep the line from shorting out and rendering the garage useless. (Will know more about the dental thing tomorrow after dropping Happy off at the vet and me at the Red Line station to go to the Loop; and Sat. when I see the periodontist). The dentist is more intrigued than worried, but I'm a wreck.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy TGIF day! Had a great evening at work yesterday, got lots and lots of progress made. Poor Sadie was sound asleep when I got home, and I'm afraid I startled her a little bit when I came in.She forgave me when I gave her a donut from the bake sale at work, though.
Jazzy--Healing take energy, that's why you are tired this week. People don't realize how much energy it take for the body to heal itself from what seem to be small injuries or procedures.
Illi--Aha, you're going to have a She Shed!Yeah!
Chi--Oh no!Prayers for good and pain free treatments!

Ilona, will it be a "chi-chi she-shed?" (Couldn't resist).
I see the dentist today, followed immediately by the perio (who is downtown a block from the dentist)--spoke to the latter, and he says he's had patients on Prolia who've had this happen whether or not they'd had extractions, and patients who didn't take any bone drugs yet "dropped a sequestered bone fragment." Says it's not uncommon if there are torii elsewhere in the mouth (I've had one on the cheek side of my gum by my upper R molar for as long as I can remember); and even if ONJ we've likely caught it early enough to arrest further deterioration. He has a CT scanner in his office--hopefully, it won't reveal anything going on deeper in the bone requiring any procedures. (So tomorrow will just be a recliner-shopping trip).
On the kitty front, looks like I may have been "busted." After his last feeding just before midnight, I roused Happy from his nap & sequestered him in the upstairs office (where he likes to sit on the chairs) with a litter box, water bowl, bra box (his de facto favorite bed) and dangle-toy. Shut the door as tightly as I could--latch couldn't click because of a fax phone line running along the jamb and across the threshold, so I also barricaded it with a wooden shoeshine box full of polishes & brushes. Went to bed, but when I woke up this a.m. and checked to see how well he calmed down, I was dismayed to find the box dislodged and the door open about 3-4". I had forgotten what a strong little guy that solid 11-pounder is. I cursed at myself for not emptying the kibble dishes in the kitchen (I had to keep some out for Heidi to nibble between her naps on the bed with Bob & me). Just then he slunk back upstairs with a sheepish look on his face and waltzed back into the office. I lied to the vet and said his last meal was around midnight--they're not drawing bloodwork, just sedating him well enough so he won't rip them to shreds when they pass that ultrasound wand across his belly; but if they see undigested kibble bits in his GI tract...as I said, "busted."

Good Morning everyone! Met with the MO this morning. The PET scan was excellent! No sign of cancer in the breast or lung. We will continue Abraxane until mid-December, then start 2020 chemofree. I asked him if I had been misdiagnosed and he said no. Rather I have had a wonderful reaction to the medication. We talked about some supplements. He does not seem to favor much of that. Talks about how there has not been much research done on humans with good results. Guess I will look at trials supporting supplements and continue doing research into things.
We went to see the Downton Abbey movie yesterday. About halfway through the projector (or whatever they use) broke and could not be fixed. We did get a voucher to return on another day. I ran into several librarians I used to work with. It was fun to chat with them and catch up on how life had been treating them.
Off to the mountains after chemo. I cannot wait to sit on the porch with a glass of wine and watch the shadows move across the ridges. Hope all have a great weekend!
-
Yay for negative PET scan, JCS! Enjoy the wine and the scenery (I grew up in Brooklyn and lived in Seattle 7 yrs) and I miss mountains so much that I MUST have an annual mountain "fix," be they the Catskills, Appalachians (especially Smokies/Blue Ridge), Berkshires, Sierras, Cascades or those surrounding Vegas. Chicago is SOOOO flat!

On the drive in this morning. Tons of them in the air

Happy Friday Funday and yippee it is the weekend for those working gals! Yayyyy - I just got stable ct and bone scan results today, so good for 3 more months!! Like JCS I am celebrating!
jazzy - love the balloons! How is your eye? Mine is really good, I am feeling like the healing is working, and I know that I can see better! I am glad you are sharing BCO with a newbie as I have learned so much from this site!
NM - I would forgive you if you brought me a donut too;) dotd looks yummy!
chi - hope you get the mouth stuff figured out with good results!
illi - Where is your cabin? Relaxing will be such a treat.
cami - hoping Joey is feeling better?! Love the kitties...
Hi mema, goldie, teva, and all - here's to a warm,, wonderful, weekend for everyone Cheers!
-
ChiSandy - I'm supposed to start Prolia as soon as insurance pre-approves it - scares me to hear about your tooth problems. I really need to be on something as my bone density has decreased 4.5% since the last one - and I've been osteoporotic for a few years. Hope all went well with dentist and periodentist.
-
Janky - second follow up this afternoon & all is looking good per the eye peeps. Final follow up is 10/18. Then if all is good, we move to the second surgery.
How is your recovery ?

Oh Chi the dental woes 😔

Janky & JCS--you need to clink virtual champagne flutes across the border!
Everything's ok with my mouth. Dentist said the fragment (pictured below) looks like tooth, not bone; and that it likely broke off one of the two abscessed teeth in July 2018 (after I crunched down on a pizza crust in NYC) and took up residence in my palatal arch, causing the sore to which the abscess eventually spread. Makes sense: the night of the day after, the sore and that tooth were so painful I couldn't chew steak or sourdough bread on that side, and until we figured out about the abscess and I got the root canals I was afraid it was loosening. After the root canals, tooth-colored acrylic fillings were placed over them, I had some antibiotics, and the sore healed for awhile until that piece decided to work its way out of my mouth. OTOH, the periodontist is sure it's necrotic bone--but not from ONJ, as the CT scan showed no degenerative bone changes since July 2018, and there weren't any then. He says this kind of thing happens a lot to older patients who have torii, and not to freak out if it happens again. He says the tooth looks normal on the CT so the fragment couldn't have been tooth--but the dentist countered that the acrylic filling shows up the same as enamel & dentin on a CT. At any rate, I'm not losing any teeth anytime soon (barring trauma). In fact, the orthodontia made the two root-canaled teeth much more secure--no wiggles. Whew!
He says he sees occasional ONJ in implant patients who weren't honest with him about taking bisphosphonates or Prolia. But he's still relieved that I'm finished with bone meds (knock wood).
And Happy? No liver or pancreas enlargement nor masses. Some mild inflammation of the intestines--not rising to the level of feline Crohn's but definitely kitty-irritable-bowel syndrome. Treatment? More frequent smaller feedings of a prescription digestive-soothing wet food, and a daily probiotic--which we're already doing. He did puke a bit when we brought him home, because he ate everything that wasn't nailed down and still begged for more (then ate some of the wheatgrass that he & Heidi battle over and erped up a hairball).
So everything's back to normal here. Bob got home early, so we had leftovers supplemented with a Caprese made from one of our homegrown tomatoes. DOTD: St. Supery Napa Cab. Sauv. 2015.
-
chi - I am clinking my champagne flute with JCS' virtually! Sure happy that your dental 'woes' should be better, and no more wiggles
Also glad you have a handle with kitty!

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Saturday! Lovely weekend shaping up here, and I thought it was going to be rainy this weekend! Got the stitched out of my hand last night, now it's much less sore than it has been. It's definitely going to leave a mark, though. Oh, well, at least it's on my hand and not on my face, right? Every day when I take the bandage off and clean it up Sadie has to come over and sniff it and check it out for herself. I probably trust her nose more than I trust just about anything else to pick up signs of infection early!
Chi--sounds like Happy is not only a strong little guy but a bit of an escape artist, too! Hope this testing goes well.
Librarian--HOORAY FOR A GOOD PET SCAN AND GOOD TREATMENT RESULTS!!!Sorry to hear about the projector breaking down. I think I'm going to go see Downton Abby after the bean suppah tonight, if the timing works out right.
Jazzy--That's a different traffic hazard to content with!
Janky--ANOTHER HOORAY FOR GOOD SCAN AND TEST RESULTS!!!
Karen--praying your insurance moves quickly and you get the pre-auth soon!
Jazzy-- good to hear the recovery is going well!
Chi--wow, that is a lot of dental stuff to have going on. Glad to hear you aren't losing any teeth, though. And glad to hear Happy is doing well!

NM - I thought we were having a lovely fall weekend, then, ooops, woke up to a skiff of snow and a gray, dreary day! Oh the battle scars we endure eh? I, too, would trust Sadie to sniff out infection! Enjoy your unexpected weekend!
karen - good luck with getting the insurance approval, I am talking with my Oncology team this week about xgeva coverage, fingers crossed for us!
Have a relaxing first of fall weekend everyone Cheers!

We had a high here today of 60. Same tomorrow, with rain. Monday, 84. Tues., 80. By Fri., high of maybe 58. Welcome to Chicago's shoulder-season roller coaster: spring & fall consist of winter & summer duking it out till the next season wins.
No alc. today—DOTD was an unsweetened blood orange seltzer with full-spectrum CBD (half-can over ice, 20mg in a full can). No hemp taste at all, but little fruit taste either. At least my back feels better. A note to those whose job requires drug testing: even the allowable .03% of THC in a full-spectrum CBD product is fat-soluble and can accumulate—it has a 4-week half-life, even if it's producing no effect whatsoever. Here In IL, a school bus driver lost her job when she took CBD oil that she didn't know had any THC. Both the courts and the legislature are being hidebound dinosaurs and refusing to rescind their zero-tolerance laws for THC, not even willing to set a limit above which one is presumed to be impaired, like alcohol which is .08. Our Governor campaigned on and signed the law making recreational marijuana legal come Jan. 2020–so I'm going to write him to urge the Assembly down in Springfield to reconsider and set a limit, and will do the same for my state legislators, alderman, and mayor. Meanwhile, before you buy (certainly before you ingest), go to the product's website and check the third-party lab test report—if it's truly THC-free, the report will say so.
IMHO, it's insane that you can safely get drunk or take a muscle relaxant or even an opioid the night before and not be deemed impaired the next day, but toke or even take a full-spectrum CBD product once and then fail a drug test 4 weeks later! (I actually had to defend just such a DUI—in order to keep my client from getting convicted, we had to agree to state-certified “drug school"—the same substance abuse counseling program as opioid, heroin, speed or cocaine users are assigned—and a fine twice my legal fee)

Good morning friends- I am at work, that is right, WORK! Started a pilot go live and needed to be here during shift changes to complete cycling through the team to be ready for expansion with providers next week. We are doing well, few issues since we began Thursday. I will have some OT in this week which will help with all the out of pocket stuff this fall. Money goes out, Out, OUT with medical and family coming for balloon fiesta too. Balloons are flying more and more all the time, and the event begins next Sat. Family arrives on the 10th for the long weekend. Can you say partay?
-
Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Sunday Funday! The leaves are really turning color around the house now. I've got a stand of white birches that turns a gorgeous yellow/gold. Went to see the Downton Abbey movie after the beansuppah last night, and really enjoyed it.It's been a long time since I've been to a movie in a movie theater, and the one I went to had a reputation for being messy and not very comfortable so I was really surprise that (1) you got to pick your seat when you bought your ticket, (2) the seats have been replaced with bigger, reclining seats that were very comfortable, (3) the popcorn and soda prices are pretty much what I remembered, and (4) thetheater was spotless. Fairly busy but things moved right along, too. Sadie was not crazy about my getting home so late, but she forgave me after a half an hour of belly rubs and ear scratches and my telling her all about the movie. She used to watch the series with me.
Janky--a "skiff" of snow? That's a term that's new to me!I bet it's the same as a dusting--enough snow to see but not really any accumulation?
Chi--Good info about THC.I'm going to wait until I'm no longer working and thus no longer subject to drug testing before trying cannibis. Most health care employers take Medicare money, which is federal, which means having to follow federal law, where THC is still totally illegal. It is crazy how different substances are treated differently. I think establishing a legal limit for THC is the way of the future, but how long it will take to get there is another question entirely!
Cammy Cat--No quitting doing nothing, that's the way to spend a weekend!
Jazzy--Sorry you have to work this weekend, but having been through a few go lives and know it makes a big difference having people around who truly know what is going on! And the OT is good.

Mornin ladies,
Where have I been??? I really thought I didn't miss any days, then I come here and see I wasn't here, my dreams and people in my head are getting more powerful and seems real.
OK the way I see it everyones tests have come out good and all eyes are healing nicely, which is GREAT---I hope I have this right. Wow Sandy u have lots going on with dental problems, which to me is horrifying, I had emergency surgery once at midnite and I was so happy cuz I didn't have to go to the dentist for my app't the next day and I said this couldn't have come at a better time. And I meant it. That's how I've felt about dentist. So thinking of u going thru all this just hurts. LITERALLY.
Basically this week went OK for everyone and some had more fun then others. But it'll all balance out.
Jeez that balloon looks like it's ready to land right on the street, it's so low <to me>. So Jazzy ul be going on it verysoon right, with ur nephew. Brave woman. U all have adventure in u so I'm sure all of u would.
Kim u seem like ur days were a little off this week. But I'm always jelly of u and sadie anyway, cuz at the end of the day u always have her to cuddle with.
I don't think I'm makin g much sense today. I stop every so often to take a message and then my brain goes into a different mode. I'm not saying better just different.
We've had no sunshine the last 2 days and rain and some LOUD thunder, which always makes me jump. And the fear of no electricity petrifies me <no TV>
Well I hope everyone has a good Sunday Funday and today keep those drinks flowing. OK OK maybe not flowing but enjoyable.
LUBS U ALL
-
I'm back here.
Oh Jazzy ur working now? I hope it's a short day for u so u get to enjoy some Sunday.
Kim so u liked the movie and the theater, a double pleasure, of course I LOLed about Sadie cuz I can't helpit. My kids went out last nite to someone's house and their friends have 2 dogs that were very friendly with them. Our baby was so excited when they got home and sniffed the hell out o them, then growled and sat on the couch alone., I guess til he settled down with his jelly then cuddled. He's nuts. LOL
-
I'm home!
Cami, just read about Leslie and the new doctor and bone being burnt. WTF? So sorry she had to have skin removed. What a time she has had with this RB (rat basTURD). Died of a flook, you are too funny. Your picture didn't post, I can do that for you if you like. And you are not laugh worthy, so there! I can really see the weight loss in you. Ok, I see you got it. Joey aka little baby! Not anymore! Sorry to hear about your cousin. I'm sorry to laugh, but can't help it....taking calls in your sleep!
NM, sorry about your hand, hope it's all healed by now.
Jazzy, happy dance for the confirmed B9. Now you can breathe! Oct. 14-22, we will be in Ohio visiting my MIL. I would still like to meet up with you before winter hits and if you are up to it and available. I know you have your nephew (I think) coming for balloon fest.
Illimae, beautiful picture of you and your friend. And another happy dance for you on the good MRI.
JCS, laughing at you too, on the sugar and carbs overload! Here we go again, happy dance for you as well.
Janky, you too....Happy Dance.
Sandy, sorry about your mouth, Bob being sick and kitty troubles, my goodness! Funny about him sneaking out and back in!
Hi Karen, how are things with you. You should stop by more often!
Sorry for not addressing everyone.
Gosh, all this dancing, I hope I can have the same news. Mine is always bad. My TM's are just rising so much, I'm also having more pain, mostly in my groin area from hips mets on the left side. I'm scared of what I might see on my next labs. Oh well, it is what it is, nothing I can do about it. We had a great time camping with our friends, lots of laughs. Rented a razor (side by side) and took a ride out to Chicken Corner, 3 hours to get there. It's a small curve on the edge of a cliff, with a path that's only about 3-4 feet wide, on a slant with a LOOOOOOOONG fall down the the river. I couldn't even watch her go around it. I'll be back with a picture of that. Our friend that lives there ran heavy equipment for the movie City Slickers II, my DH is a huge fan of the movie, his favorite. Well Mike (the friend) got DH this original jacket
