how about drinking?

Chi -$1000/pp!!! Here most fund raising events are $250/pp - I try to avoid events at all costs!!
Cami - yup, its me!

For $18, though (OK, 2 bucks extra for wine) the Share-a-Shabbat dinner & family service was fun, The service was like a revival meeting—singing, dancing, the entire clergy staff playing guitars and even the jazz band (for which I used to play bass but I now notice is missing a guitarist)! Dinner was a pasta bar buffet, with a dessert table. I walked home in the cold and wind, needing to burn off those calories. And because it was early, I made it home by 9:30. Still not gonna get up early enough to make the morning service, though. (It will be led by all the Bar & Bat Mitzvah grads since 2010–the cantor taught Gordy way back in 1996-7)

Good Morning, Loungettes! Just a quick poop in this ayem, I need to leave earlier than usual for the CPR Instructor class due to dense fog. Skimmed quickly, will comment later!
Happy Saturday!

Jazzy, lets try to make that work...Gallup! Route 66, of course. Do you know of any good places there for lunch?
Janky, enjoy those grands tonight. I wish I had some. Well, I have 2 step grands, live in CA, but they are so bad and disrespectful and obnoxious, we don't even like being around them. Awesome news on the scans, that is such a trying time for us, scares the hell outta me! Good luck on the hair front and remind us again when the time rolls around for your trip and I hope someone videos the surprise. What treatment are you currently doing. As for stable, I've never been told that, nor NED.
JCS, that diabetes can be a bear. One of my mom's roomates at the nursing home had to have half of her foot removed. Wishing your brother all the best and praying it clears up. Yes, stage IV sucks the big one!
NM, you have to work on a Saturday? Extra pay I hope!
Got my bathrooms cleaned yesterday, I can't stand when they are dirty, some dusting in the bedroom. More cleaning and gardening today. Oh, and my hummers are here, for a couple of weeks now.
Happy SaTURDay!
-
Chi - You are right about trying to get through the bureaucracy to get any kind of decent reply from Delta - so frustrating for sure! That is a pricey fundraiser! And by all means stay put and catch your breath (not caught up in traffic and travel)!
NM - Hope you got lots out of the CPR course, Sadie must be wondering what the heck you are doing on Saturday, that is her time!!
goldie - I am taking letrozole and Ibrance for the stage 4. He just lowered my Ibrance from 125 to 100 mg as I have to wait 2-3 weeks after each 21 day cycle - my neutrophils tank every time! Every 3 months I get ax xgeva shot.
I get my ct scan results Monday, prayers that they show the same as my bones...Off garage saling now, on the lookout for more treasures that I don't need, I just love the hunt! Then off to get my hair done and watch the grandkids. The sun is shining and it is Saturday - yayyy! Have a great weekend everyone. Cheers!

Hi friends- happy Saturday evening friends. It has been a cool showery day here but no big rain as I was hoping for. The yard could use a good soaking and have seen showers around and sprinkles around here and around town where I was today. But think this moisture will be through and it should be warmer tomorrow. Got some gardening to get done!
I found something interesting today at Whole Foods, which is having a big sale on all their roses. I was mentioning to a friend I was going there today and she sent me a note with a link to say they were having this sale. I got one bottle called "Pool Boy" because well I had to with that name. But the more interesting thing I found was this four pack of cans of sparking rose. Now I LOVE a good sparkling rose, but with living alone and not wanting to deal with a bottle I can probably preserve with my champagne stopper, I love this idea of a can of rose on demand. Almost as good as boxed wine, lol! I think I paid $11.99 on sale and then got another 10% off that with my prime membership. Enjoying some right now and have to say it is really good.

Sleep well my friends. More tomorrow.....

Good Morning, Loungettes! Another quick poop in before I head to day 2 of CPR Instructor class. I'm the only one in the class! It's been an absolute riot so far. It's also been very warm--70's yesterday! so I could turn off the heat and leave the kitchen door open for Silly Sadie. Needless to say I came home to a wonderfully muddy house and doggo yesterday afternoon!
Gotta get moving, poop in this afternoon after class, unless it's a beautiful as it was yesterday, in which case I will sit on the deck and play with Sadie like I did yesterday!

Mornin' ladies,
Wow Jazzy I really like how good that can looks, I would for sure buy it. I've never seen that around here.Ah ur in the land of future happenings. Well tomorrow starts a whole new world for u and I truly wish it to be great.
Kim ur the only one doing CPR??? Wow sounds good to me but u r way to far to help me. I know we can do the Heimlich on our own but.....Sadie must be a little jealous by now.
Lori are u decompressing yet---u always sound so busy and this has to be a crazy time please just take a step back and unwind.
JC I'm sorry I didn't remember <of course> reading about ur diabetes. Oh that's a struggle I hope it's getting under control all the time. Especially now with all these chemicals going in to u, does it make a big difference or it doesn't bother ur system that way. I honestly don't know.
Well Sandy how the weather around ur house <about maybe 1 hour from mine> it's snowing like cray here. Oh it will melt soon I know bujt here it's like a small blizzard with at least 3 in. so far and still coming, it's the kind of day u want the fireplac going and have a really good glass of wine. See what sounds good to me isn't for everybody so u'll probably be busy today. See how romantic I can make being lazy sound.
BTW I have to check to see if we have a whole foods anywhere around us, So Jazzy u put me on a quest.
Well last nite I went out, yes me, I went to Dan's house--it was strange not seeing my cousin there---first time but her DD, Dan's mom stayed by me the whole time. It was a little birthday party for her just a few friends and of course a couple of the guys from work <my favs> cuz they've known Michelle since Dan was little And Bob was more like a father figure for Dan so they wanted to be there. And they stayed by me too. Look I don't go out very often, so I have to make a big thing about it. LOL And my DOTD was Sprite and I never drink any kind of soda so that was different for me.
I found one of my morphine pills on the floor, so I must have missed a dose and I think I kn ow which one it was <looking back> So it's safe and back in my slot for another dose.
Hello to everyone and hope u have a great day.

My 1st crocuses in bloom!
-
Goldie- I have not eaten too many places in Gallup. The old hotel there is the only place that comes to mind, but will ask my people here in ABQ what they recommend. I think there are some newer places out there that may be worth a try!
Back to work on my new gig tomorrow. Will check in next weekend and wishing everyone a good week and blessed holidays this coming week for all those celebrating this April.
-
Good Morning, Loungettes!Back to routine for one day, then up early tomorrow for early ayem inservices. Gonna be an interesting week. But that's ok, it keeps life fun.I passed my CPR Instructor course, just need to take care of a couple of administrative things and that will be all set. Sadie is happy as a clam at high tide with the big mud puddle (small temporary pond?) in the yard, and with today's rain should be even happier. Gotta love Mud Season!
Goldie--Glad you are home and DD is doing well. You can tell her and tell her to take it easy, but she's young enough to think she's indestructible, until she gets hit with the ouchies and soreness. Then you can say you told her so!
Cammy--love the kitties! I feel much more relaxed in the new job. I never thought it would show so much!
Jazzy--I hope the new administrator is good, too. Time will tell. Things are feeling a bit shaky but I'm just keeping on with the plan in place until I hear to do something different. You will love the feeling of paying off the mortgage!
Janky--Wow, that family reunion sounds like it's going to be a fantastic time for everyone! Go and take it as easy as you can and enjoy yourself!
Librarian--I think I'd have trouble with the idea of leaving the original tumor in place, too, no matter what else was going on. It amazes me how many people with diabetes will let something go on their feet, nor just not notice something going on with their feet until gangrene sets it.
Chi--you have such a busy life!Just back from a major trip and you are all booked up all weekend! What a hassle with the Lounge thing. I'm beginning to think I haven't really missed anything there.
Goldie--the CPR Instructor class was for work, and work is paying for the course, but I am taking the course on my own time so the certification to teach will belong to me and not to work. That way I can have control over how (or if) I use it outside of work.If I do outside classes on my own certification I can get paid. The Instructor even recommended me to go on to become and Instructor Teaching (able to teach and certify others as instructor) so there is some income potential, if I choose to take advantage of it. This was MY choice, work offered to pay for the timeas well.
Janky--I had a great time at the CPR Instructor course, even if the testing was a bit nerve wracking. I was the only student and that makes me particularly nervous, for some reason. The instructor was an absolute wonder and did a great job considering she was supposed to have 3 students! Good luck with the CT scan results.
Jazzy--That canned sparkling Rose looks amazing! I wish there was a whole foods around here.
Cammy--that Black Tartan looks potent! But I bet it tastes great! Sadie did ok with the weekend, it's finally warm enough to turn off the heat and leave the kitchen door open so she can play in the mud and supervise the neighborhood. She won't be so happy today, it's raining so she'll have to go into her kennel. But I'll find a way to make it up to her! The little birthday party sounds like it was just what everyone needed right now. I bet it was nice having so many paying such close attention to you!
Teka!Yeah!!
Jazzy--Praying for a good start to the new gig!

Janky, my onc wants to put me on Ibrance next and those low blood counts are what scare me!
Jazzy, do grow any veggies?
Cami, I don't think I ever decompress! Did more planting this weekend and started painting the house. The outside of this house is so ugly, typical modular, but at least the inside is nice. So glad that you were able to get out and have some fun. I didn't know you were on morphine, I hope it helps you.
Teka, first signs of spring...crocus.
Jazzy, good luck on this new gig, and have a good week. Payingg off your mortgage is huge!
NM, I said to my DD, you are 35 years old and you STILL don't listen! All in all, I think she is pretty cautious, but she is like me and can't sit still.
My bad, I don't think I thanked you guys for all the nice comments re: my mom and DD. So, from the bottom of mese heart, or as Dara would say, fromt the bottom of my fart, THANK YOU! Also forgot to mention, while I was in the VI, I was really surprised to see how much damage there still is, especially with houses. Both on St. John and St. Thomas.

Rain has finally moved out. Hope everyone survived the storms, both snow and rain! Now it is time to pick up the debris and start the trimming. My son will come get the grand dog this morning, then get my walk in and last it will be time to work. Chemo starts back on Friday, so I better get things done before then. I will be hosting the Easter brunch this year. Have to get supplies for that. Mainly the ones for Mimosas! I do want to do a short hike in one of our state parks this week. A certain Spider Lily is blooming and it is beautiful this time of year. A lot to look forward to and be involved in. Take care, everyone

Mornin' ladies,
Kim now they want u to think about teaching CPR, Kim what can't u teach. Honestly u r so driven with ur work cuz u reall love helping people. Not all nurses are so giving and caring whoever comes under ur help is so lucky. I'm sure they know it but I'm also pretty sure some don't appreciate it. Whenever I've been in a hospital, my BIL would always make sure all the nurses had candy from me, LOL he was always trying to help me---but ur the kind that dosn't expect anything, cuz ur just so good. But Sadie misses u so better spoil her a little more this week.
Well Jazzy will be busy this week, especially starting a new job. I hope she got everything done that she wanted to cuz when she works, she really works.
Teka of all people u get the first signs of spring. I'm still looking at snow.
Lori I know u can't stop and I told u ur DD is just like u.Now I have visions of her tummy, Dara;s hole and Leslie's hole UGH, what my mind sees. Lori I'm also on codeine 4 x a day and it does relieve my pain but doesn't take it awways nor can I walk very good or move without pain. That's why I always say I'm not much help for Leslie when she needs it.But I can pretty much take care of myself except for showers or doing much at one time. That's why going out is a big deal, I have to do everything in steps and then stop and even rest, that part I think is from the meds so it takes me forever. Dan's house has loads of sta.irs then landing and then more. <LOL> I walk with the rail sideways with 2 guys one in front and one next to me, believe me I don't want all the attention I get cuz of what I can't do, but I'm glad they are so nice to help me. I know, I know I'm complaining again, that's what I do.
I just took a call and did all my work with it and I forgot my whole train of thought here, jeez I hate that. OK I'll be back when I can think straight. No, that doesn't mean i'll never be back,

Bye bye Giabea!
-
NM - Glad that this CPR course gives you other opportunities, it is always good to keep doors open!
cami - your cats are the best!! It is good to know that others lose their train of thought when a diversion happens! Codeine makes me nauseous so it is not for me, do you have bone mets that cause the pain? I always hurt, and usually Tylenol extra strength a couple of times daily help...
goldie - Ibrance is pretty good, except for the delay between cycles - I just started on 100 mg and with bloodwork today at 10 days my neuts are 1.8, so I am hoping that they remain okay. more BW May 1. Side effects not so bad, (not great, but tolerable).
Yayyy - I just got my ct scan results and they are stable as well as my bone scan, so doing the happy dance and drinking more than I should today
Cheers!

Whoopee for stable scans, Janice!
Cami, we got about 3" of wet slop Sunday morning well into the night. Bob was down in Oak Lawn, and they got 6". Yecchh. Too lazy to shovel, I just pushed the slush aside with my foot. Unfortunately, it froze overnight and it was tricky navigating until it finally thawed out around 11am. Last night was our friend's retirement/going-away party at Gulliver's Pizza, and it was bittersweet--none of us are spring chickens and most of us have some health issue or another. He will be visiting in August. We will try to get down to Charleston in June or Oct. (using timeshare points) to see him & his wife, but I worry about whether retirement (and leaving the country's best neuro rehab program) will cause him to have to ease up on his maintenance exercise program. I know for many of the party guests it may have been their last time seeing him.
Seeing as how the bash was at a pizzeria, my DOTD on Sun. was Ruffino Chianti. Today? 2% milk.
Okay--so I promised to post some pix of my trip, and I was finally able to convert the HEIC files to JPEG. So here goes:
My last night in Amsterdam, after returning from rijsttafel dinner, I had to sample the local specialty: genever, the progenitor of gin. I had a 6-yr-old Bols, and it was delightfully herbal , spiced (juniper berry, of course) and floral:
In Jerusalem, we took a tour of the Mahane Yehuda market with a food blogger who is also on the Israeli version of the Food Network. He has relationships to a variety of vendors there. One was a smoothie stand with some very weird combinations. The one we had was "Etrogat:" etrog (citron) and "gat" (aka qat), a stimulant leaf outlawed in the US and EU. Here is the counter-girl pouring our samples:
Tasted like a veggie smoothie with a bit of citrusy acidity and a slightly bitter "kick." At a deli, we were treated to shots of arak, an anise liqueur much like ouzo. Then, a visit to a craft brewery, BeerBazaar--with an IPA (Fat Cat) on the left and an amber ale (Dodash) on the right:
Then we visited a coffee roastery, ShukCafe, where we had excellent Guatemala Bourbon espresso. Here it is being roasted:
In Tel Aviv, I had a Barkan Reserve Cab. Sauv. with Shabbat dinner buffet in the hotel's Jaffa Terrace Friday night; Sat. night at Suzana (seafood joint), Segura Viudas Brut cava. And my last meal before leaving for the airport Sun. was at Nomi, the hotel's molecular gastronomy restaurant, was accompanied by Gamla Brut Reserve:
Food porn (such as it is) will be on the So What's For Dinner? thread. Again, I apologize for not taking more food & drink pix because I was unable to convert HEIC files to JPEG on an iPad & iPhone.

This is an oldie.

Morning on this bright, sunny day in Alberta! Wow sunshine sure puts a different spin on the day! My DD called and her 4 year old son puked through the night so can't go to daycare - yayyy an unexpected visitor today. He is fine, probably something he ate!
cami - that kittie is priceless, love the dancing pickle and omg I have not heard of a gin rickey since my high school days
An oldie for sure!
Chi - don't all of us spring chickens have an ailment or at least an achy body part or two?! I love the pics - what a trip that was, with so many experiences!!
Wishing you all a terrific twofer Tuesday, with sunshine, warmth, and good health! Cheers!!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I WENT TO SUBMIT AND I LOST A WHOLE POST JUST ANOTHER WAY THE UNIVERSE PAYS WITH ME.
-
Today is my birthday! If all is well this evening, I plan to have a drink or two in celebration!
Hello to all.
-
Husband and I got most of the yard work done over the past two days. I have a person coming after Easter to help trim the azaleas. They are over 50 years old and need an annual trim to keep them from taking over. My arms are sore, but I got the pots by the front door planted with spring annuals. Love that pop of color! Next task is to wash the outdoor furniture so I can enjoy sitting in my courtyard and looking at all the pretties!
Waiting for a return call from a radiological office. Their billing service really sucks. I talked with them in February about an outstanding bill. They had misspelled my name when submitting the bill to Medicare. In February they said they would resubmit with the correct spelling. I guess they did not as the bill is still showing outstanding. All the other bills from this company have been paid thru Medicare and my supplemental. Seems someone would figure this out and spell things the right way. Just lovethis part of having a life ending diagnosis.
Kids are coming tonight. Going hiking tomorrow. Chemo on Friday. The week is flying by! Happy Birthday, Muddling!
-
muddlingthrough - Happy Birthday!! I always loved birthdays and now even more so
Go ahead and have a drink or 2!
cami - that is soooo frustrating! I do it too!
JCS - so nice to get at the yard work, then sit back and enjoy!
Cheers!
