Good afternoon friends- beautiful day here in NM. I was out early to work on the yard and gardens and have more of my perennials in the ground. The front rock garden is about done, just a bit more work to do out there and do need to get the drip people over here to install a few more stations out there. Once I finish planting everything, and check the system, will call them to get them here some time when I know I can be home.
First week of work finished up well. I sat in a "snake pit" meeting yesterday with people I know don't like me or each other. Just stayed neutral and listened to determine current state and where the line is between my project and others activities. One of the docs I worked with last time who was not easy was there but does not seem to remember me (a good thing?) Another I sort of worked with and I are going to sit down and talk about one of the initiatives I am doing as part of this program. I will enjoy the first few weeks of re-entry until it all becomes impossible again (lol)
Chi- too bad about Leslie missing Easter with you all. I have worked on plenty of things where clients could care less about a holiday and people's personal time. I hope she and Gordie are doing well together.
NM- I had to laugh thinking of you waking up to Sadie's butt in your face. Whenever I visit my sister, her golden retriever leans in next to me and love her warmth. I hope you enjoy your weekend time this weekend as you lost last weekend with the CPR training. At least it's done!
Cami- your gifs are the best. The kid and the trampoline with the cat made me lol, but so does the one above.

Good afternoon DahhhhLinks,
I have been away seems like forever. I won't go into all the stuff going on in my life. But, such things keep me going and I've been smiling a lot lately. Good for my temperment n for hubs.
We had some horrible rains and winds earlier in the week. And of course, pouring rain as I walked out of the treatment pod and to the car. Wore sandals so of course my feet were soaked. Drive home to Mesquite was very hairy…am glad hubs was driving.
Been on the Nurti-sys diet for 20 days…think I've lost 2 pounds. This 1st round is 28 days, will be getting new foods by weeks end. I will go those next 28 days and if not much in weight loss, I will cancel future deliveries. My opin is good, liked all of the food except 1 stuffed chicken meal.
Yes yes let's all do a happy dance for good test results. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Love all the pic/video posts…some are jes too funny.
Well I have to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY Muddle…I had 2 drinks last night and fish. Every Fri afternoon we go the the Golden West here in town. Clam chowder also excellent, cept I can't have any while on Nu-sys, too much fat, so I get along with jes 1 piece of fish and lots of carrots. Muddle hope u did do some imbibing last night.
Sandy ur trip sounds INCREDIBLE. So glad you got to go and are having a gr8 time.
JCS - OMG so sorry to hear about all the hell ur family is going thru. I will put u all on my prayer list.
Jazz - Had to LOL over the signs for clothing or not and especially that u went to both…ur my hero!
Illi - Those drinks look marvelous. Glad u had a good time. I will continue with the prayers for all the ladies on and off this thread.
Cami - loving all ur posts. Hope the oldman winter takes a break in your area soon. Here is Mesq has been upper 70's for the most part. I can't complain, I'll safe my bitchen til it get into triple digest.
We've been w/out TV for 10 days now, we are switching from Direct TV to Dish….tech was supposed to be here btwn 10-12, they've called twice to say they'll be delayed…hubs went off on the gal who called to tell us. Thank goodness the blu-ray works…I've watched some DVD's that we've had for years. I was a happy as a lark…LOL
Ok nuf of my bs. Hope those I didn't ack kno that you're all in my prayers and am sending positive energy and hopefully lots of smiles.

I had my chemo infusion yesterday so I am still on the steroid high. Have all the casseroles made for tomorrow. Eggs boiled for the brunch meal and other sides ready to go. While I can have family events I really want to do it. There is work involved, but it is fun work knowing people enjoy the food. I enjoy the visiting and watching people clean up my mess! Trade offs are good.
We had some storms yesterday. They were not that bad. The TV weather people really want you to think it is the end of the world or something close. It was windy enough to knock down some large branches and millions of gumballs. Should have cut down that tree while I could.
Quiet time is almost over for today. Wishing everyone a Happy Easter, Passover, scans, or whatever is in your future. Thanks for all your happy cat videos and support. You are a great group!

Kim, about half the time Easter & Passover do coincide, per the Jewish and the ancient Roman (Julian) lunar calendars. On very rare occasions, the first Seder night falls on Holy Thursday--the Last Supper was a Seder. No "first" or "second" Seder night back then: all Jews lived in the Holy Land so there was no Diaspora. To explain further:
Passover is one of the ancient "pilgrimage festivals," the others being Sukkot (the harvest Feast of Tabernacles), Shavuot (Pentecost, celebrating the delivery of the Ten Commandments) and the High Holy Days (the New Year--Rosh Hashonah, and Day of Atonement--Yom Kippur). During these holidays, pilgrims from all over Judea came to Jerusalem, bringing various animal and agricultural sacrifices for the High Priest to offer on the altar of the "Holy of Holies" chamber (containing the famous "Lost Ark" of the Covenant) in the First and then Second Temples. All "pilgrimage festival" holidays--remember, the Second Temple in Jerusalem still existed--were originally only a week long instead of eight days (ten for High Holy Days). The 8-day custom (and first/second Seder nights, as well as two days of Rosh Hashonah*) began with the destruction of the Second Temple (nowhere for pilgrims to visit or High Priests to make sacrifices), the beginning of "rabbinic" sacrifice-free synagogue-based Judaism, leading to the Diaspora, the dispersal of Jews (both voluntary & forced) into Europe and the New World. ("Mizrahi" Jews--Sephardim who lived in the Middle East and NE Africa--still celebrate seven nights). The rationale was that the time of sunset (the appearance of the first three stars in the sky, when holidays begin & end) varied with longitude--a principle that evolved into modern time zones--so if all Jews in the world had to celebrate at the time of sunset in Jerusalem, people would be eating supper or holding services in the middle of the night, the morning, or afternoon. This varied so much that the festivals ("pilgrimage" now historic & symbolic) were extended to 8 days so that everyone could observe & dine at a time natural for their locales.
*The "10 Days of Penitence"--from the onset of Rosh Hashonah through the end of Yom Kippur--are the only longer pilgrimage festival. The High Priest made three offers of atonement: first for himself, then for his family and acolytes, and then for all the people. Of course, now that there is no Temple, no priests (high or otherwise, but replaced by rabbis, who are technically teachers & leaders but any Jew of age can lead services) and no sacrifices, everyone atones communally in synagogue. In the Diaspora, it's technically 11 days, because of the extra day of Rosh Hashonah.
Sometimes Easter & Passover can be as much as 4 weeks apart when the different calendars diverge--the Julian lunar months are always 4 weeks long, the Gregorian--our modern calendar--has only one leap day every 4 years, and the Jewish deals with astronomical discrepancies by adding a second month of Adar--"Adar II"--every 7 years. As a result, Passover can occur anywhere from late March to mid-to-late April; and the High Holy Days can start as early as a week after Labor Day or as late as early October.
Confused yet? Me too--we need a drink!
Heading to the temple Seder in an hour. My orthodontist says don't sweat it--wearing time averages out. DOTD will be whatever wine they're pouring (usually a kosher red or rosé from Israel, and grape juice for the teetotalers). None of the traditional sweet Concord stuff poured at the Seders of our youth--nobody really likes it and it doesn't go well with any food other than dessert. (Neither does grape juice, for that matter).
What makes a wine "kosher?" Well, Talmudically it has to be handled and supervised--from harvest of the grapes to bottling (ultra-Orthodox insist the supervision extend to serving it)--by an observant male Jew. This has of course become insanely impractical, so the concept of "mevushal" was instituted. This is flash-pasteurization (under rabbinic supervision, with a blessing recited before & after) immediately before bottling. The average drinker, especially one who imbibes only during holidays, can't taste the difference--but winos like me notice a certain "flatness" of flavor (highs & lows are missing, sort of like over-compressed recordings) and muted bouquet. At my home Seders we drink the best wines, regardless of whether they're mevushal or kosher, we can find that go with the appetizers (soup & gefilte fish) and entree (usually roast chicken, beef brisket or turkey). If you're going to follow the Haggadah (the ritual prayer-and-songbook for Passover) and drink four "cups," it ought to be good stuff!

Jazzy, re your mad mama hen & eggs meme: blame it on hanging out with that "wascally wabbit!"

Mornin' Ladies.
I wish everyone a special Sunday whatever or however u celebrate this Sunday.
Janky u sound happy. I wonder why.
I think we're just staying home tomorrow, I haven't been feeling that good and Leslie hasn't been he best, but she's plugging along.I can tell cuz she tries to sleep in bed but most of the time she's in thechair, like me LOL--- except I feel bad for her, she has a problem with certain movements and she does go to PT. Jodie should be here soon to help me with my shower, I just like to get it over with, then I feel comfy. So I might have to close quickly.
Kim no more snow for any of us, right??? Ur our weather forecast person so I wait to hear what's going on by you.
OMG I had my shower and got comfy,,,I just woke up. I'm so exciting. Jeez

This bevy of quail visits my back yard often these days. Was able to sneak in and get the good camera for some close ups today!
-
Great quail photos, Jazzy!
Cami, I hope you and Leslie feel better and can celebrate Easter in some fashion tomorrow. Certainly no more snow here---they're talking 70+ even by the lake, no rain till evening. Great weather for walking to brunch!
Tonight's wine was a bizarrely semi-sweet red from the Central Valley (it was mevushal). Quite a long Seder (3 hrs.), but fun.
-
I'll be back tomorrow morning. Super busy painting the house and planting...all back breaking work!
Happy Easter All
-
Goldie- oh lordy that picture girlfriend! That must be for Cami.....
-
Goldie - That photo is enough to get us eating carrots, if we don't already!
cami - I wish you and yours a very, happy weekend, and praying for relief for Leslie.
Jazzy - Sounds like you are settling in after the first week - yayy! I love the quails, so very picturesque! and Mama chicken pulling her kids - super cute!!!
JCS - I hope things are getting better for you and yours.
Mema - Total happy dance for everyone with great scans!! I am still dancing for sure
NM - Sadie sure makes us giggle - what a super sweetie she is:)
chi - That is a lot of information - whew!!
Well, I wish everyone a very happy end of weekend no matter how you spent it - hopefully filled with family, friends, good health and good cheer! Cheers!

HOPPY EASTER EVERYONE and I truly hope everyone has a super one.
Thank u sandy fpr the well wishes. Jee I just woke up. Marty had to go to urgent care this morning, this poor guy bronchitis and a sinus infection---so we're all home today and no one colored eggs--first year. Oh well, we do have wine in the house so we'll see.
Janky do u double screen, like most do. U have a great memory. I already forgot what I read.
But Jazy I remember the pictures of the quell. Jeezz u have the strangest flower, animals and sunsets. I'm so glad u share them with us My sister has 2 grandsons <brothers> in the seals and one sends pics. of where he is, but just the ground pics. with no people, ever in them. My sister asked u all alone there??? Well no, but they r not allowed to take pics with any people or over just what they see on an eye level and she says they're not pretty so she really doesn't like them....Scary. They went to college and decided this is what they want to do . I hate to say it but none of us are thrilled. We really don't know know where they are, but not together. But they do face talk almost every day. My niece <their mom> has one boy in college and he doesnt seem to have any interest with that. So we're all happy about that. That's terrible of us but when it's ur own u feel different.. I don't know how I got on this subject, but my mind wonders.
Lori that is literally back breaking work, oh my stars---do u ever stop. U gals have goo energy to bad it doesn't come thru in the puter. And those carrots would be long gone around me, not cuz I love carrots either.
Oh I have to get more coffee here.

JCS - Got a laugh out of your reference to "gumballs". We have 2 trees that drop those prickly things all over the place.
Chi - Thanks for the info on Jewish festivals. My brother and sister-in-law are in the process of converting to Judaism, so found this very interesting.
Everyone else - Hi there and hope spring weather is coming your way.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Monday Monkey Day!Woops, looks like I missed pooping in on Sunday, must have gotten caught up in the little bit of house work I did do and playing with Sadie. It's finally warm enough to turn the heat off at night as well as during the day, Yeah! I'll be glad to see the electric bill going down soon. Sadie is loving having her own personal mini-pond in the yard. I swear that she is bringing pounds of dirt into the house every day!
Cammy--you find the funniest posts!
Jazzy--I'm so jealous of those of you who can get out and work in your yards!Still way to wet here and with more rain coming. Ah, well, it will dry out eventually, right? At least it's not snow! I can just hear my mother saying something like that chicken!
Mema--Uggh, nothing like cold, wet feet to make you feel miserable. Glad the DH was driving in all that rain. Nothing worse than waiting for someone and finding out they're delayed, except maybe if they don't show up without calling at all. Glad to hear there are things in your life that are making you smile!
Librarian--Watching someone else clean up your mess is fun, isn't it? Enjoy the steroid high while it lasts!
Chi--Thanks for the explanation! This is all so fascinating to me. It took me years to figure out how Easter was determined every year, I'd be lost with more to keep track of! Sometimes I envy the strong knowledge of history that the Jewish have.
Cammy--I remember how wonderful my showers felt after recon surgery, when I had to have help. Love the clean feeling! I feel so sorry for Leslie.
Jazzy--WOW!Beautiful birds!
Goldie--I just about fell off my chair when I saw what was tucked into that guy's pants!!!!!
Janky--I love sharing Silly Sadie stories! Glad they amuse everyone.
Cammy--another great kitty pic!Poor Marty, hope he recovers quickly. It must be scary for your sister not knowing where the grandsons are. Love the shortcake DOTD!
Good Morning, Celia!

Mornin' ladies,
Kim everytime u give us a DOTD it looks so good I want it right now, my mouth actually waters. So the md is still going on sounds like it will for a while. Sadie's having ball.
My sleep is so goofed up, it must be all these virtual trips I've been on. U gals keep me busy And Kim ur getting up early today. I slept so much over the weekend Leslie kept on checking in on me, I must feel jet lagged..
Question....OK Leslie's taking the after pill <can't think of the name , but common> for a while now. She;s suffering quite a bit, told her Onc. and she said this was the one she has to be on, but won;'t give her anything for relief. I was always lucky cuz when things got bad my Onc. always helped me. Is this something new??? between her arm <hole> and now all her bones don't they try to make it as easy as possible for their patient. They keep on saying we don't want u to become an addict.Oh boy. I do give her some of my codeinne when it gets really bad, so I just take less so she's more comfortable So anyway Les has tried the hemp stuff but 500mg. I personally think this kind of pain should be a higher dose than 500. Can anyone. I honestly feel like talking to these Drs. but, she's a little to old for that, I think. U gals always know so much about these things that I would appreciate it.. help me with this thinking.
I shall be back. I need a nap now LOL.

Good Morning all! Easter with the family was lovely. Still have some hand dishes to wash, but things are mostly back to normal. We are supposed to have lovely weather this week until Friday when it may rain again. The yard chores continue and I have someone coming to trim the azaleas this coming weekend. Husband has a doctor’s appointment, I have cards and the kids will come back for more food on Tuesday. I also plan on visiting my friend that had BOTH her hips replaced recently. I have a trip to the mountains planned and another to the beach. In between I want to take my husband to Savannah, GA for a mini-vacation and birthday celebration.
I really do not have time for cancer! 🤪 It is annoying to plan around chemo, Neulasta patchand feeling achy. I guess this is what maintenance treatment is like. I will make it work.
Sounds like everyone is starting the week with a full head of steam. I also enjoy seeing the DOTD. I need to beef up the liquor cabinet so I can make a few. Take care all! I will check in later.
-
Jazzy, those quail are so pretty. What a nice thing to visit your yard.
Lil doity butt, I can't imagine you needing to lose weight!
NM, Miss Sadie bringing in all that dirt/mud would drive me nuts. I guess that's why we don't have any animals. Well, not really, we just go away too often and no one to watch them.
Well, DID NOT get all the painting and planting done, but didn't expect to. And both of us are hurting, but not horribly bad.
-
Yesterday's Easter brunch DOTD was prosecco (bottomless mimosa, hold the OJ) and a little 2016 "J by Jordan" Napa Pinot Noir. At dinner? LaCroix Cerise-Limon seltzer.
Tonight with dinner, Mumm Napa 2013 Blanc de Blancs Reserve. (I can continue to drink it even after putting my Invisalign back in, so I'm savoring it). Has a delightful green-apple bouquet.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Twofer Tuesday! Did I tell you guys about the neat place I found last weekend? It's in my own little berg, and called Mossy Ledge Spirits. It's a little family run distillery that uses almost all Maine grown products to make cordials, gin, rum and whiskey. The built a beautiful tasting room that I stopped in at on the way back from dinner Saturday. Their cordials are sweetened, infused vodka, not so sweet and syrupy as schnapps, and the sweet tea and cherry are fantastic. I bought a bottle of each. Can't wait for the gin to be bottled, I want to use that for the lemonade recipe. They also have a Birch Beer cordial that I want but isn't for sale in bottles yet. The other cordial flavors are Pineapple, Cinnamon, Toasted Coconut, Peppermint, and Amaretto. They're Jester's Best is maple syrup flavored whiskey. I wish I could take Sadie there, but there is already a distillery dog named Moose who greets everyone at the door and "stalks" people who get a Bloody Mary cuz he wants the celery!
Cammy--yup, mud season will go on for a while, and Sadie loves it the entire time. Except for the baths that she has to get pretty regularly! Sorry to hear that Leslie isn't getting the care she needs. Is she taking Tamoxifen?
Goldie--Muddy dogs drive my Mom nuts, too. But I love Sadie and it's worth putting up with the mud and hair to have her in my life. But I can see where it would be hard for some people. I love the size of the "Instant Awesome" mug!
Chi--The Blanc de Blancs sounds very springtimey!

My DOTD:
Yup, that's my latte art. Sometimes it works.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Hump Day! Getting up to another drippy, gray day. Some snow mixing in with the rain in some places, not expected here, thank goodness. Had to turn the heat on again when I got home from work yesterday. Sigh. Poor Sadie is back in the crate during the day cuz it's too cool to leave the door open for her. Good news is, I did see a couple of mosquitos the other day, so there is hope yet!
Chi--Nice job!
-
NM, I think we are all "instantly awesome"! That is some cray cray weather you are getting. Been pretty nice here, cool at night and in the morning, but that's ok with me.
Nice latte work Sandy...maybe you should apply at Starbucks!
Been working with neighbors to try and get our roads fixed, they are really in bad shape and not maintained by the county. So we have to try and collect money from people out here, and of course there are some that either want to do it differently or not contribute at all. The latter really pisses me off!
-
Ha ha, Cami is this you???
-
Starbucks doesn't do latte art--takes too long, and the baristas there usually are glorified button-pushers and steam-lever-flippers. Latte art is the province of the indie coffee shops--one of which a bit south of me is now offering CBD as an addition to its drinks!
DOTD was the last of the Maryhill 2012 Cabernet Franc along with lamb chops I made for dinner.
-
Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Thirsty Thursday! Happy TGIF Eve! Supposed to see the sun for a few minutes today, I hope that's true, cuz the gray drearies are getting very dreary indeed. I really wish it would dry out a little so I can statr playing in the gardens. I know the time will come and I really just need to be more patient. In the meantime, Sadie is loving the mud!
Goldie--I don't mind the cool at night and in the early am, but I really would like to see the sun for just a little while!LOL at the chipmunk with corn teeth!
Chi--CBD as a coffee add in? It's everywhere these days! Except in Maine, still off the shelves here. I guess CBD oil by itself is available and people can add it themselves. . . .
