Good morning, Loungettes! Well, the second storm of the century for the last 12 months has come and gone. Lots of white stuff, lovely sunrise, piles of snow, and rain predicted for later in the week. Welcome to winter in Maine. BTW--those pics were taken in color, no black and white, they just came out that way.
Mema-- I had a lovely lazy day yesterday, too. Did almost nothing, and loved every minute of it!
Goldie--I've wondered about the effect of hail and snow on solar panels. I see more and more of them around here, so they must work fairly well. It's gonna be a lot more years before I get my debts paid off and can save up money for that project, though.
Wahine--Wow is right, I haven't seen snow come down like yesterday for a few years. At least it's fluffy and not heavy stuff, 'cause I've got some shoveling to do! Scary when your DH gets sick, I know. Hope he gets better quickliest!
DorKable--glad your dad is gonna visit, hope he can deal with the doggies for a bit! Maybe he will put up with the pooches to see your mom? All the weather stuff pretty much ignores Maine for the most part. It's kind of a running joke around here, once a storm gets north of Boston it might as well be gone. The snow hadn't drifted up as far as my bedroom window, it wad stuck there by the wind blowing it into the screen.
Cammy--Yeah, Boston is the end of the country for most national weather guessers. Usually Maine is hidden behind the person's head, or off the screen altogether. It's annoying, sometimes. I was amused at the talk about "Winter Storm Orka" forming in the midwest before "Winter Storm Nemo" was off the map! Since when did they name winter storms??????? Boston is still digging out, but they aren't as bad off as people may think. They get this stuff, although not this heavily, in the winter, too. It was on the weekend, which is a big advantage for them, too. They'll be ready to go come work time Monday.
ORLA--I staid in all day, didn't even go out and shovel. Not worth it the way the stuff was blowing around. I'll do some shoveling later today, If I need to. The drive is plowed, so I can get in and out just fine. Was hard keeping the house temp up in the wind, but all is well now!
DorKable--so sad to hear your Dad is unhappy. He must really feel like your mom is gone, dementia is such a cruel disease. People lose their loved one at least twice, once when they no longer recognize family and then again when the body dies. The Long Goodbye is a book written about that, I can't remember who wrote it.
OK, me needs more coffee. Me read DorKy's "mese other gental giiiANT!" as mese other genital giiiANT!
Well, there are lots and lots of cancelled church services this ayem, most places probably can't get the lots plowed out in time. Or don't want people out driving this ayem with all the public and private plowers working. I'm meeting a friend and his family for his birthday lunch later today, looking forward to that1 By then, everything will be plowed out good!
Princess Glitter Sizzle's DOTD is The After the Storm:
1 piece ice (cube)
2 dash Bénédictine
1 piece orange peel
2 dash French vermouth
1 drink Irish whiskey
Use an Old Fashioned glass and serve with a small bar spoon in the glass.

Let's see if I can do a couple of during/after pics:

Too funny, Cami and Lara watching the same thing.
Dork, what do you mean, yese waiting to bese salt? Goot ting dat Pants carried you off to bed. I hope today is a better day for you daddy.
NM, we have to systems that are on trackers, so they are always facing the sun. As for the snow, we just take a broom and brush them off, provided they are facing a direction that we can reach them. Sometimes when there is no sun, they face directly up. We have had hail, but nothing big enough to break any panels. Liking the photos with the sunshine much better, and Sadie looks like she is enjoying the snow. Enjoy your birthday date.
We got some more seeds planted yesterday, more maters, peppers and I did some turnips. Can’t wait to plant in just a couple months. The rest of our snow should be gone today.

amazing photos of the weather lara,nm. hope everybody is having a good day, enjoyed my week in orlando with the girls, went back to work fri night and got punched on my scar line
so spent a couple of hours in er ,some interesting people there on a fri night! some superficial bruising only, luckily. to all those feeling under the weather feel better soon. dorty-has your dad seen your mum yet?
-
OH NO Julie, how scary. Why did that person punch you in the first place, or was it an accident. Oh that is just too scary, I'm glad you are ok and had a wonderful time in Orlando.
-
OMG why am I laughing at a tornado that could devastate a town.--U all know why
Good Morning all I hope everyone is doing well today.
NM u sound good, u must be really used to this type of eather--u've al ready made plans for today. --I love it. And I thought the exact same thing about the Orca storm. When did this all start?-they are already at the "O's"?
Lori u'r weather really does change in a day. How is u'r DH doing? He must be feeling better now--I hope.
Dorky I hope u had a good night sleep so u'r re-energized today. And I feel so bad for u'r dad--U'r mom isn't in pain or anything like that right? I hope not.
It's quiet here and warmish outside. Last night the kids went to McD for a dollar Sunday--so I was letting mine melt cuu I like icecream soft-- I don't like some other things soft--but ice cream yes--but then I forgot and so I had a bowl of ice cream soup last nite--well My Katie-Kat liked it. And of course I finished it.
I hope everyone has a good day, but don't overdue this shoveling thing--really. Just read this--Julie u poor thing, why did u get punched I'm so sorry---and then U spent time in ER--Oh Geeze--How horrible.

Hi girls, happy sundey fundey!
I slept til noon and it felt so good. My dad was up at 4am in the shower then knocked on me door and told me that he was leaving at 8am to see my mom, have not heard from anyone since. I just texted my sisters to see if he is still with mom. It is up to me to make sure he eats when it is time so that his blood sugar does not plunge. and OMG, his driving, yikes! He was driving on the left side of the road, I told him this is not london, this is america, we drive on the right side of de road. I am so worried about him. He has been gone for almost six hours now, I wish he would take his cell phone with him vs leaving on my kitchen table!

Good evening, Loungettes! Had a nice lunch with friends, and a quiet day. Recharging the batteries, I guess.
Goldie-- almost time for me to start some seeds, too. I usually start them in April, gonna start them in March this year. Looking like we're gonna get some more snow in the next few days. I guess we're going to get it all at once this year!
ORLA--YIKES! Please tell me that is not near you. I heard on the weather that there is a big tornado out in the midwest somewhere. So scary.
Juliet--You got punched? Glad there's no damage, but holy cow what you've been through!
Cammy--Yeah, this is the first time I've heard of naming winter storms, but apparently the Weather Channel is doing it. Weird things they do to get attention, I guess.
CynCyn--I’m making out just fine, never lost power. The big windstorm a couple weeks ago took down all the loose tree limbs and such, and the snow was light and not heavy, so there wasn't much damage done that way. It's all over now, and everything is pretty much back to normal.
DorKable--My personal theory is that a lot of people don't think Maine is in the US because of The Weather Channel ignoring us all the time. I know we Mainahs don't make up a big part of the viewership, but it might improve if they treated us like Bostahn and New Yahrk. Good luck finding your Daddy!
Well, I need to get some stuff ready for tomorrow, and get off the computer. Latah, Loungettes!
-
Hi Ladies!
Dorkie, Did you find your Daddy???? Gawd I hope he is ok and has been eating. I know he wanted to spend all the time he can, with his wifey. I hope she was having a good day todey, which will help your dad feel better too.
Juliet, all is can say is....OUCH!!! Nah, I can say more, really I can...twist my arm....ok now I am really saying *ouch*....ok...untwist my arm. Whew.. mucho bettah. But omg that had to hurt you sooo muchliest! I hate that it happened, esp there. You poor dear!
MN, Glad you are holding down the hatches! Maine? Maine? Is that a part of the US??? Nah, jest kidding....I didn't realize the weather people ignored ya, though. Weird!
My DH was much better today, so we went on a HIKE. SHort though, just about 20-30 min on paved trail, uphill, to a beautiful twin falls. The entire hike was sooooo gawgeous, alongside a fast moving stream, full of boulders, water falling over rocks, so pretty. We forgot about DH's recent knee surgery, and the walk back, downhill, was murder on him. THEN we went to the Cabbage Patch Babyland General Hospital...that was awesome. Our g'dau is having a great time, and we are enjoying being with her so much!
Hope no one is affected by all this bad weather still going across the country...tornadoes, etc. We have rain here now, and HOPING for nice weather the rest of the week, lots more to do/see.
DORKIE, let us know if you found your daddy!!!! Hope all youse gals are habbing a great nite!!!!
Big Hugsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss,
Kat
