I think after chemo, the tsh and t4 tests are routinely done in conjunction with the reg cbc, etc. So most of you have probably had it done, and would only know you did if it was elevated, which your Dr. would have pointed out to you. So if you have copies of your blood tests, you could check.
Met for dinner last night with Ann from my Illinois thread. We had a great time! It was funny - we took turns having hot flashes! Gotta run...
Michele -
Your painting looks great! My contractor gave me a Monday deadline for choosing a paint color for the basement!
RoseMarie -
That is so funny about your young Dr.! Do you get the brca results on Tuesday? -
Ravdeb, I was just thinking...Is it bone pain you are having or muscle pain? If it is muscle pain it could be from the statin's. My husband is on lipitor and they told him to call if he experiences any muscle pain because that is a side effect.
I am wishing the best for your son. Hopefully he will have nothing but a pulled muscle.
Everyone have a nice day, I am off to work. -
Laura, I have another appt. on Thurs. for the brca results but I'm going to call today and see if they can get me in Mon. or Tues early as I'd like to have the results b4 going in to see my onc. I'm such a procrastinator - don't know why I didn't think about calling sooner!
Michele - looks great!! You are working sooo hard!!
Hope everyone is having a great day - healing thoughts and prayers today!!
Have a wonderful day! -
RoseMarie -
Can they just give you the results over the phone? Or maybe they could phone your Onc. with the results? Maybe it would save you a trip...if you're not going there for other reasons as well. (Just me...but I think it's such a waste to go in person to hear test results.) -
OH NO!
I ordered 3.5 tons of 12" boulders for a landscape project...they were delivered via a huge dump truck. I thought they looked kind of small for "boulders" - so I measured some. The first 20 that I measured were all below 6"! And the rest looked about the same size. Arghhhhhh...I called the quarry and they said they made a mistake and delivered 4"-7" rocks instead of the 12" boulders! They have to come back here, with a fork lift truck and load them all back into the dump truck and then deliver the 12" ones! This all needs to take place by tomorrow morning - as my landscape dude is arriving at 8:00 AM!!!!! I know there's more important things going on, but I just had to vent! And...I'm having 3 yards of dirt and 1 yard of gravel delivered also...I just hope they get it right! And I hope they don't put the dirt and the gravel in the same truck! LOL -
Will be thinking about you all day Victoria and praying for only the best results.
Michelethe paper really makes a difference. It will lighten up the room considerably.
Debhope things lighten up for you soon and that all is o.k. with your son.
Maryhope you're finding help for your headaches.
Paulamust be close to your reconstruction. Best wishes and hope you're feeling better.
Debbielooks like I missed the coffee party and I wouldn't have minded using the odd cup!
Continuing to think about you Cindy and any one else who is facing waiting time for friends and reletives.
Much love from me to all our sisters here. -
OMG Laura, I thought something like that could only happen to me. I hope they come back and fix their mistake before tomorrow morning. I want to get outside and put in my solar light's and my dh want's to cut the lawn. I hope we aren't jumping the gun. You never know it could snow next week.....lol
-
LOL -
Graycie -
Whatever you do...DON'T put the snow shovels away...cause then IT WILL DEFINATELY SNOW! LOL
I'm still waiting for them to pick up the wrong ones and deliver the right ones, so I can scratch the word "boulders" off my to-do-list! I'm hoping it's soon...

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
.............................
The greatest possession you have is the 24 hours directly in front of you. -
Victoria, you are in my prayers and my heart.
GOOD LUCK TODAY SISTER!
Love,g -
Gail...I know about the muscle aches from statins. I discussed this with my doctor at the beginning and he took me off the statins for a week to see if there was a difference but there wasn't. I have a lot of problems in my back..I have at least 2 herniated discs and one herniated disk in my neck. The rest of my spine is falling apart! so..it's the herniated discs that are causing the problem...3 doctors have told me this.
My son has chronic back aches so I have no idea what that is about except stress on the back from all the stuff he does. But, I guess we'll see...
I just learned that our cousin's sister (she is a cousin via marriage and we are very close) died yesterday...breast cancer. She lived in Australia. In Sept/Oct we learned that she had widespread mets to her bones and liver and it was very bad. But about two weeks ago she was determined to do radiation, but she never got that far. She got very weak and then died. I'm sad for this cousin. She also had bc 5 years ago...DCIS.
Thanks Cathy, for the good wishes.
This week our prog coordinator forgot to send me the weekly calendar that I translate into English for our English speakers. So, she called me last night and I sorta translated for her over the phone and there were some pretty funny things that she wrote in the end. We are having a barbecue on Tues at somebody's house (it's our Independence Day) and everybody needs to bring meat. The host asked that we not bring frozen meat and the translation was this..."Every family is asked to bring her thawed meat"! I was ROFL when I read that one!!!!!
Michele...did I tell you that I liked the new wallpaper? Well, I do!
Victoria..hoping all is well with you. You are in my thoughts, as always... -
Today is gorgeous out and I am in my pjs just relaxing now, cant sit out on the deck as the old cupboards are out there. Our house is even more disorganized tonight with all the boxes on the floor that Home Depot delivered today including the new sink and taps and extra cabinet.
Dh ordered a panzoratti as cooking is not a viable option until we have our kitchen back. It was funny thinking how I was gonna eat it as I couldnt find where he put the cutlery, after searching I discovered it buried on the dinning room table. I took a picture of the disaster and will post pictures of the finished product when its done.
I cant believe the stupidity or bury your head in the sand attitude of some of the ladies are work regarding self breast examination. I was talking to our receptionist who is in her 50s and although she goes for her yearly mamos she doesnt think that she has to do self breast exams every month. I said why not and she said she didnt think they were warranted, OMG I wanted to scream and said am I not a good enough example of why you should be doing them? I had my first baseline at age 40, nothing showed up on that and bingo I had a 4 cm tumour that I found myself 13 months later! I had not been doing self breast exams, didnt even know what bc was or maybe thought that could never happen to me my vent for the day .
We are booking our annual fall trip tonight for 10 nights in Jamaica at Couples Negril. I often told my husband since 99 when we started going there that I would loooove to go for 10 nights, just perfect. We could never afford that many nights but the resort is having a special at 40% off regular rates so we are going for it!! So know I have two really cool things to look forward to .meeting all my dear sisters in Chicago in August and then a getaway in October for 10 nights.
Victoria if you get a chance to come on the boards and read any posts. I hope things went well today and you are on the road to recovery.
Deb you told me twice that you like the way the walls look but thats okay I am famous for repeating myself all the time and besides it is double the compliment, hee heeJ
I saddened of the news of your cousin, this beast must be stopped!
Cindy thinking of you, how did your appt go with the surgeon, was it today?
Laura thanks for the info on the routine bloodwork after chemo. I think I saved my copy of mine done in Sept 06, should check it to see what it says. I do know it had lots of tests on there include my hormonal levels but didnt know what half of them meant! Thanks for the compliment. What colour were you thinking of choosing for the basement? I thought drywall couldnt be painted for a year or two after installing it due to nail pops? Our doctors hear wont generally give your results over the phone, you have to go in for the appt. I did call my GP though for results of my first followup tests back in February as I had waited 2 weeks with no word. I had to leave a message and my GPs office called me back the same day.
Good luck on your landscaping project.
Cathy are you settled in for the weekend or do you have to travel somewhere for work? Hopefully you can enjoy the nice weather!
Graycie bite your tongue young lady, no snow here or for you until November!!! Put those snow shovels away and bring out the spring flowers
Have a super Friday evening, may or may not be able to post tomorrow depending on how the day progresses.
Love to all my sisters

I love your posts...even when you're stressed out...you're always upbeat! Your receptionist is sadly mistaken and I hope she doesn't regret it someday. Can't wait to see the photos of your incredible make-over! You've inspired me to keep at it! I think I may go with a simple beige (more of a gold beige than a brown beige), because I'm not sure what type of furniture will be down there. So, I have to play it neutral - atleast for now. Nail pops are a reality, but painting need not wait. If nail pops show up, the painter just comes back and "fixes 'em". We've only had a few since we built our house. OMG 10 DAYS IN JA AT COUPLE'S RESORT! That is awesome...10 days is the perfect amount of time - 7 is not enough - 14 is too much - 10 is PERFECT! Yay! -
My appointments all went great today! I feel so much better about everything!
My surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. I've decided to go ahead and get a second implant instead of the DIEP. My BMI is over what the surgeons here deem acceptable for the DIEP and it sounds like a *very* long surgery.
My present implant is a C cup and my reduced breast is a D, and I think we're going to aim for both implants to be Ds since I'm kind of a large person. The Ds just seem to be more proportionate to my body.
And even with two D-cup implants, I may never have to wear a bra again! You have no idea how much I hate wearing bras! I'm such a hick. The first thing off when I get home are my shoes, and my bra is a close second! LOL
DH and I spoke at length with a nurse educator in the plastic surgery dept, and she helped get us set up with a plastic surgeon who isn't an arrogant jerk like the last guy was. So that's a relief as well.
My cancer nodule is negative for estrogen and progesterone, but there wasn't enough tissue to do the HER-2 test. Maybe after the surgery. Oncologist said the nodule was NOT caused by my 2005 tumor. It's a new primary. Even though it is sharing the same hormone status, so far, it doesn't appear to be medullary.
Unless they find something unexpected in my (stringently mammographed and sonographed) breast or my (poked and prodded) lymph nodes, it appears unlikely in the extreme that I will need chemo this time. Whew! And YAY!!! -
I keep forgetting to share this. When I've had trouble falling asleep this past week, I imagine taking a hot-air balloon ride, like Debbie. *My* balloon is rainbow colored, but on the very top, there's a giant sun with twisting tendrils of yellow burrowing through all the colors.
Then I get in the basket and make the fire go, and I ascend higher and higher into the sky until I look like a tiny speck of color from the ground. Then I come back down and float over the countryside and fields. I even moo at some of the cows.
It has really helped me fall asleep, Thanks, Debbie! -
Cindy - glad to hear that your surgery is scheduled and that you probably don't need chemo!
V - thinking of you all day today. ((Hugs))
Deb - I'm so sorry you are feeling icky. Please feel better soon...
I don't remember what I told you all about my job search (I am calling it chemo brain) and I am too lazy to go back and see..... Did I tell you that there is an open position in my home town???? It is a Community Programs Planning position! I am so excited about it - wouldn't it be cool to be able to get to work in 10 minutes?
Not a lot new here - and no real plans for the weekend - YAY, Finally!
(((hugs))) to all of you! -
Cindy, I am going to try your visualization tonight.
ER/PR- again, jeesh! Hope the her2....I guess it is better to be positive. It used to be worse but so far the Herceptin has done a good job and being Her2 pos may be an advantage, time will tell.Did you feel this lump or did it show up on maamo?
I have read your posts. Looks like most are doing well, good to read all your stories.
My week went very fast. I was busy and pretty relaxed. Nothing good or bad to report. My family is well, I am not moving, renovating, getting tested, reading dog books, visiting grandchildren or anything else exciting...
Fists up! -
Victoria...I sent you a pm yesterday or the day before...did you get it??? Hope you are well...been thinking about you all day!
Keeping my fingers & toes crossed and sending up a silent prayer for you.
Hugs
P -
cindy....sounds like things are going well, so i'm glad for you. no more chemo would definitely be a good thing, but if worse case you have to do it, you'll be as strong as ever. i like your imagery of the balloon it's beautiful.
victoria....glad you're out of it all and recovering. get those windows open, sit outside, eat good food, and take care of yourself.
tracy...i work 10 minutes from my house and i have to tell you...it's perfect. i go home for lunch all the time and i love it. i can't imagine a commute at all. i'm spoiled i hope you get the job!!!
well, ladies, it's 75 degrees in good old virginia and perfectly sunny, so i'm spending the ENTIRE weekend outside. my best friend is on her way here now with her 6month old baby, who is officially my niece my best friend doesn't have any sisters, so i'm an auntie we're going to go down to the water, get ice cream, sit in the park, perfection. tomorrow i'm playing golf all day with the hubby and getting a drink in the city afterwards.
i hope the weather is good for all of you ladies....if not sunny, at least warmer!!! love you all
-amy -
V --- Glad you are safely out of the hospital and back to see the love and support that you have. Sorry I didn't post yesterday but it has been a super busy week at work and I haven't been leaving on time. Once you are on the late bus everything is running late. Today, it was so hard to get up, I can't wait til we hire someone to help in my department!!
Cindy and Victoria, I am so happy that things are less scary this time around! No chemo for Cindy, YAY!!! -
So glad to see your post Victoria and to know you are recovering. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Cindy, well, I'm not holding my breath so much for you now. So you want to join the D-cup brigade? I wonder if implants weight less that natural tissue. That is my only compaint with bing a member of that group. Oh, I hope that you do escape chemo again and that the recovery for you is swift.
So glad to be keeping up with everyone. We have a glorious day and I'm of to do errands. Happiness to all!
Mary -
Victoria,
Let us know how you're doing. I have a feeling you'll be doing great again in no time.
Cindy,
I was getting sleepy just visualizing the balloon.
dEBBIE,
Your thyroid account reminded me of that time I went to the eye doctor who diagnosed me with arthritis in my right eye and cataracts in my left. Technicians were literally lined up to see me like I was some freak show! They could not believe I was only 51!
Hope you feel better soon, my lovely Israeli sister! -
Well part of our cupboards are installed, lots more left to do tomorrow .
The contractor showed up this morning and had just got the schedule this morning of what he was suppose to install in our house from Home Depot!! They have had this job booked for almost 3 weeks now and the guy doing the installing finds out this morning when he gets here that he has to wire in the dishwasher (he was told my the store that it was our responsibility), like huh, why were we charged $250.00 for the installation which includes the wiring if he was not suppose to do it ..
He also didnt know that he was installing backsplash, like come on Home Depot get your act together. They did not send any of the plumbing to install the dishwasher, he has to go and pick that up tonight as well as the wiring for the dishwasher. They sent five boxes of grout and he said we would only use 1 maybe 1 ½. They didnt provide enough crown moulding for the top of the cupboards, cant remember if it was special order or not.
In talking to my Dad tonight who is an electrican he told me that the dishwasher has to be wired into the panel box directly or it will blow fuses. We are going to ask him tomorrow what his plans are and if they dont include wiring it into the panel box we are going to ask him to just install the plumbing and the unit itself and run the wire under the floor into the basement but leave enough and we will take care of it. Our actual electrical wiring is being upgraded by Hydro and an electrician on Wednesday of next week so we will ask the electrican to run the wire into the panel box then.
One of the cupboard doors needs to be replaced as it looks shitty looking .
I cant believe the problems!!!
I am enclosing some pictures of how the new kitchen looks so far, we like it but are not happy with the size of the cabinets on the wall where the fridge and stove go. Originally they were going to install a microwave stand above the stove so the cabinets had to be smaller because of that. Well when the microwave stand idea was cancelled we didnt think about changing the size of the cabinets back to what we had at first. It still looks nice but if we were staying here we would have made that one block larger.
Tomorrow the contractor is coming at 8:30 am. no sleeping in for us again . He has lots to do cut out center for sink, install sink and taps, install plumbing for dishwasher and electrical, put on crown moulding, install light valance under cupboards, put on handles, install and grout backsplash. Will take a picture of the completed project once our kitchen is put back together.
My advice to anyone having a contractor do anything, ask, ask a lot of questions and confirm, confirm absolutely everything that is in writing in your contract! It is a good thing that I have the voice to speak my mind and not get walked over or we would have been in trouble with this project.
Today was a beautiful day and we spent it outside raking the lawn and painting the front porch white.
Our real estate agent called today and is coming by on Friday night of next week to list the house .let the fun begin.
I am so exhausted tonight from all the work today.
Our trip is officially booked, something to look forward to now.
Laura thanks today I am stressed out, everything that could have gone wrong with the kitchen has, hopefully they will make things right tomorrow and it will all work out in the end. The contractor commented that he hoped that he was being reimbursed by Home Depot for the extra work that he didnt know he was expected to do. He does have an excellent work ethic though and didnt he stop from 9:00 am. this morning, didnt even eat anything. We did offer but he just accepted a coffee and some pop. You did say that you have been to Couples Ochio Rios, thats where we got married in 99, since then no resort has lived up to our expectations, they treat you like royalty and the people at the resort are amazing as you know.
Cindy thats amazing news that you wont likely need chemo, yes, yes! It is also good news that this is a new primary not a reoccurance. We will be holding your hand in spirit on Wednesday my dear sister.
Tracyseattle I use to work 15 minutes away from home and it was great especially in the winter time with the country roads around here. Hoping you get that new position close to home.
Maryanne what is your weather like this weekend? It is so nice to finally have wonderful temps for a change!
Victoria I am glad that everything went smoothly with the surgery. You have been through a lot
Amy sounds like fun spending the weekend with your girlfriend and her little babe and what nicer way to top it off then with a big honking ice cream cone! My neighbours daughter had her six month old baby girl over to visit today. I held her and kissed her little cubbie cheeks, she was just a sweety!
Kelly hopefully you are spending your weekend relaxing with Teryn, sounds like you have earned it.
Mary how are you doing?
Brenda was the arthritis and cataracts from chemo? OMG that is scary!
Enjoy your Saturday evening, have a feeling that bed time will be early for me tonight, too much activity today.
Hello to all my sisters who have not posted this weekend and are out enjoying Spring
Love
Michele
Here's the mess in our dining room... -
Maryanne, my nodule got found by my every-six-month mammo, so there's a preventive protocol that worked for me! It could have been a fat necrosis from my 2006 reduction, but it wasn't there on the last mammo so they biopsied to be sure. Thank goodness!
Mary, I was a DDD before cancer, which is why I aimed for a C cup with the first implant. But a C cup on a petite little thing is not a C-cup on a tall, hefty farmgirl like me.
I've always had to wear industrial strength bras to hold everything where it's supposed to be, which is probably why I hate bras so much! LOL -
Michele, I like your cupboards especially the glass ones. I can't wait to see your kitchen when it is finished. I bet it will be beautiful. You have to be exhausted with all the work you have been doing. I'm tired just thinking about it.
Cindy, I agree. You are lucky the tumor showed up on your mammogram. Mine never showed up on my first mammogram and six months later it had grown to over 3 cm. I'm going to ask about an MRI when I go Monday to my ONC. I have my next mammogram in May and I just don't trust them anymore. Well, at least with me. They will be doing a sonogram also so I feel a little better. So glad to hear you most likely won't have to have chemo. -
Victoria...I hope you are recovering well.
Cindy..that's good that it's a new primary. Better than recurrence which is not likely for Triple negs. Interesting that it's hormone neg again. I kinda agree with Mary-Anne that HER2 pos though known to be more aggressive, gives you the added Herceptin. But whatever it is, it is. That would be great if you didn't have to have chemo, though!
Gail..good luck tomorrow on your onc appt.
Michele..looks like your dog doesn't mind the mess! I go bananas when my house is in disarray. You work so hard! Everything looks great, though! Whoever buys your house will be very lucky to have everything fresh and looking good!
I am sick, Ladies. I woke up yesterday with a virus that everybody seems to have. My inlaws had it, then my youngest son, then my dh and me and now my daughter. One son left and a boyfriend. I suspect they will get it too. I was throwing up all day yesterday and then slept all afternoon and night.
I got up this morning but still haven't eaten more than part of roll. And a bit of water. Can't get anything down and I feel weak. I had to go for my TSH/FT4 blood test this morning and see my orthoped. He is sending me for physical therapy.
Brenda..that is weird with your eyes..and the cause of that was...? I have Horners Syndrome and since it's kind of rare, I was the talk of the eye clinic where I go to see my neuro-ophthalmolgist twice a year. All the internists were coming in to see what it looks like...droopy eyelid, pupil doesn't dilate and no sweating on that side because of nerve damage..though I've noticed that I have started sweating on that side and this is after a few years. (It is a symptom of my dissected carotid)
Ya know..I feel like my whole body is falling apart!
I'm going to rest.
Take care Ladies. -
Ravdeb, how come your doctors and labs are all open on Sunday. I know Saturday is your Sabbath but don't you guys have the weekend off??
-
Wow, what a gorgeous weekend. Yesterday was the Komen race for the cure...here's a pic:
Deb - so sorry you're feeling bad! Ick...hope you feel better soon!!
Michele - I KNOW that it's a LOT of work but it is really looking great! What a head ache with the goof ups -
Amy - sounds like a great day!!
We had a cookout with all our neighbors and had a blast. The kids have played so hard until late the last two days. It's so nice to relax with friends - have adult converstation - and know that the kids are having fun too.
Hugs and prayers for everyone! I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend. -
Cindy and Victoria, good news so far, so glad to hear that!! Both of you ladies sound so positive and upbeat... keep it up. Wishing you both speedy recoveries!
Ravdeb, yuk, a virus... hope you'll get better soon. I have only just now started getting over my flu. I think out immune systems must be damaged... i know mine is.
well i better go to bed. its 12.44 am here and i am the first one among us to start a new working week!! arrrgh.
take care ladies -
Hello My Sisters,
Our kitchen project is extending into tomorrow as he wont be finished today .argh .had to call my boss at home to get the day off, thankfully my backup can replace me tomorrow. I am pissed that I had to burn a vacation day tomorrow for this!
The backsplash is up and it looks gorgeous, still has to be grouted, sink and all plumbing has to be put in including the dishwasher. The crown moulding piece that we were short is at the store and it will be picked up tomorrow. The light valance has to be put in as well under the main cupboards and all the hardware has to be put on and we are two pieces short on the hardware.
Here is a picture of the updated work .and a few of the outside of our house.
Today is another beautiful day and put a second coat of paint on the front porch and freshen up all the window sills with white paint.
Cindy thankfully your medical team decided to biopsy that lump.
Graycie thanks, it is a huge improvement over what we had before.
Deb Scooby doesnt mind plunking her little body down anywhere with her linus bed or her security blanket as we call it. Get better, having the flu is awful, be good to yourself and have your daughter pamper you!
Rosemarie your family picture looks great, your kids are cute. Love your shirt and noticed the word survivor, we all are ROCKING SURVIVORS ladies
Your hair is getting so long, do you have it clipped back on the one side, it looks nice.
Paula glad to hear you are feeling better.
Have a great Sunday afternoon.
Love Michele -
RoseMarie -
Nice photo! Your hair is so long and curly, you look great! You all look great. I'm so happy the weather was nice for you and it's so nice that you were able to walk as a family. You've had a busy weekend.
Michele -
The photos tell all...your hard work has paid off. Wow - I love the back splash! The cabinets are really nice. The whole house is nice! Are you sure you want to move? LOL Hope it ends soon though...I know the feeling! Patience is not one of my strengths.
Paula -
Glad you're feeling better! I think our time difference is about 12 hours?
---------------------------------------------
Hope you're having a great weekend - we just finished a landscape project...whew...lots of work. My left arm is sore - I hope I didn't over do it... Weather here is gorgeous!
