I looked for some Cheetah things but could only find a pair of Cheetah shoes. So I bought them!!!! They are pumps with a little peep toe. Watch out tall girls I am now at least 6'1" with these things on!!!!! Probably closer to 6'2" since they are also on a platform but they are pretty comfy!
I actually have a shirt already that is in an animal print style, not really its just tan with brown splotches all over it ..... it's really cute long sleeved you know the flowy kind of sleeves.
We saw Night at the Museum, it was such a fun movie. Dave and I saw it after Teryn recommended it .... we had gone to see Borat the time before that and it was awful!!!
Take care ladies!! -
I love the cheetah stuff!! I haven't been able to find any. Dave thinks we really mean leopard not cheetah... whatever.... I do think he would like the second ensemble that Peggy posted. LOL!!!
We had a nice weekend, we took the dog to the park a couple of times today and then went furniture shopping. It seems like I have so much stuff to do and not enough time to do it. I get frustrated about it - I can't drag myself out of bed in the mornings and it wastes 1/2 of my day. UGH!
Today I felt kinda yucky - just tired and draggy. I slept 11 hours last night--maybe I slept too much.
Well, I had better get to bed, tomorrow is back to work! The weekends are never long enough!
Love all of you! -
We played in the snow ALL day yesterday!! So much fun! We have the only hill on our street so we had lots of neighborhood kids over sledding. Tried to build a snowman -soooo much harder than it looks. Here's all we could muster:
Tracy - hope you feel better today!
Gail - how exciting -
Michele - love the pics!
Mary - glad you're feeling better!
Kelly - I haven't dared to drive in the snow - thankfully the roads are all pretty clear this morning so my dh should have a pretty good drive to work.
Ravdeb - hope you can walk your beach today!
Everyone else - have a wonderful day!!!!! -
Tracy, I always called it leopard print too...I think they are pretty much the same. I have a couple animal print tops and my husband hates them........Must be a guy thing. I also have a dress I have never worn.
Kelly, the shoe's sound cute.
Rosemarie, The snowman looks great. Your right they are hard to make.
Mary, How is your cough? Mine lasted around 2 weeks.....My husband was the same way. More of a tickle.
Everyone have a nice day, Off to work.......
Graycie Gail -
Here is my grandson with his snowman a couple years ago. -
Graycie-Gail - you will have the perfect cheetah wardrobe to bring with you in August!!!
Love seeing the snow pictures! Hope you are all thawed out today!
I am missing Laura - when is she supposed to be home? I sure hope Buddy-Love is OK, I hope he has been freed!!!
SherryHaire's BD is this week - we should all send her cards, maybe she will come back here to visit us!!! She is our founder!
My extra-curricular activities have slowed down a bit lately which is a good thing since I have been feeling really tired. Not many meetings at night. Of course, this is the calm before the storm as Aquafest is starting to gear up and I will be very busy trying to figure out what the President does!!!
So, I don't have much to report this week. Dave & I are planning to go to the boat show on Friday after work. He loves boats, so I have a feeling that I am going to be learning a lot about them!
Have a good Monday everyone! (((hugs))) -
I have a new appreciation for snowmen - I'm very impressed!
Ok weepy moment...I finally took off my bandages - (I really like the end result, btw)-I started crying for lots of reasons. I don't like to do the whole pity-party thing but part of it was recounting the past year and a half, part of it was the realization of how much I have missed having nipples, and part of was actually joy, knowing that I'm almost done with this process!
I'm not sure if I ever shared about my son's preschool director in Tallahassee pulling me aside right after my diagnoses. She was a 15 year survivor and asked me if I'd ever seen reconstructed breasts - of course I said no. Being the ultra shy, conservative, private person that I am I wanted to run when she started to pull off her shirt. She had tears in her eyes and wanted to show me that everything was going to be ok. Anyway, that was one of the most selfless things I have ever witnessed in my life.
If I've already shared this story, I apologize for being repetitive! Just a moment here... -
(((hugs))) RoseMarie! I am so glad that you are almost done and that you are feeling good about things. It is kind of overwhelming to look back at the past year and the path we have traveled..... But we are on the downhill side now and we are so much stronger!
You will be a wonderful support to others after going thru this yourself! -
Love the photos. darent show Rosemaries photos to Roger or he would start on the 'look how big the houses are, look how much land they have' chant which then starts off the' you know we should emigrate' talk!!
Dont actually have any cheetah print - always think of a character out of Coronation street who used to wear it, i really would get laughed at i think!!
michelle , the photo of your husband reminded me of my SIL ( the one i talk to!) Last year they went to NY for the weekend and their hotel got evacuated due to fire during the night. Evertone is running around like mad things, she is having her photo taken with the US fireman! ( in her PJs)
Debbie -
RoseMarie..Your post was really moving. You HAVE gone through a lot this past year and it is really coming to an end. I'm happy for you! That is quite a story about the preschool director. And it's inspiring.
Gail..waiting for paint to dry. You ARE bored!!!! LOL
The snowmen pictures bring back memories. Not so much of when I was a kid as when I was in COLLEGE! That is because when I was in college we rented a house..about 20 girls altogether..and my special group of friends who always did crazy things, went out and built a wonderful snowman together and somewhere among my photos, is a picture of the snowman. (we also have pictures of our crazy college friends selling lemonade at a little table just like little kids!!!).
Love all the cheetah stuff. I looked up cheetah on the internet and it can be cheetah, Tracy. It can also be a leopard but cheetah fur is the same thing.
Peggy..sexy stuff there. My dh would like the women's wear but would never wear the guy's thing. Wait..I take that back..he'd tell me that is a waste of money since it would be coming off anyway!!!
Mary..glad you are feeling better.
Spent my day at the hospital. Had appt with neuro-ophthalmologist. All is GREAT! CT shows NO blockage on unaffected side and NOT like what the Duplex says. They have no explanation for that.
Then I checked out the cancer center (it's all on the same campus). My onc will no longer be there. They said to call the day before my appt and they will tell me who I'll be seeing. hmmmmmmmmmm... I will NOT worry about this now!!!! -
What is the difference between Cheetahs and Leopards?
Quote:
Cheetahs are often confused with Leopards, but there are some clear distinctive markings. The Cheetah has black "Tear Marks", which run from the corner of its eyes down the sides of the nose to its mouth, keep the sun out of its eyes, and aid in hunting. The Cheetah's legs are longer and the spots in its fur are darker. The Cheetah has a leaner body and has been referred to as the greyhound of the cats. In contrast to Leopards, Cheetahs are quite social beings who usually live as couples or in small groups.
Cheetahs do not roar like lions, but they purr, hiss, whine and growl. They also make a variety of contact calls, the most common is a birdlike chirping sound. Cheetahs are also the only cat that is not able to retract its claws!
Notice in the picture, the "tear" lines. This is the visual difference. Apparently their appearance is almost identical. -
According to another site, the Jaguar and Leopard are more often confused with each other!! It looks like when you compare them, the jaguar and leopard have bigger heads. That makes sense since the cheetah apparently has smaller teeth and can't really fight off predators, it chooses flight rather than fight!
Here is a leopard. -
Awwww - I like the cheetah, it is very cute! Thanks for the clarification and the pics!!!
-
Hey Debbie, cost of living here is VERY reasonable - lots of new homes going up in my neighborhood!!! This used to be a corn field so very few trees, but think about it...you could snowboard down my little hill - and it would be very cool to be neighbors!
Ravdeb - so glad the CT showed no blockage!
Lots of love...
Hey, btw, go Indy, Colts! -
And in the summer she can do this:
----Notice that this person IS wearing a helmut!! -
OMG - what is that - it looks like fun!!
I actually fell off of my therapy stool today ( yesterday i fell down the step at school in front of a class of 9 yr olds) its a good job its only about a foot high!! Its the wheels that did it!! When i got in from school i found i had 2 big holes in the back of my trousers, thank goodness i was in nursery and they didnt need to comment to my face.
Ok Rosemarie , that sounds a good idea. will i have to quarantine my guinea pig????
Debbie -
Rosemarie: I have sympathy for all your feelings about the surgeries. You have been so brave and it must be quite a strain to get through all this. I admire you so much for what a great mom and friend that you are.
Mary -
Hi Girls!
I missed you all very much! Roy and I had a great time in CA. but we ended up NOT bringing the laptop, and I felt "so outta touch". I have to say
IT WAS FAB MEETING KELLY, BRENDA, TERYN AND DAVE! The flight that day went really smoothly but it was a very long day. By the time we met, I was exhausted - and unfortunately, it shows in the photos! Kelly: quite the towering, voluptuous, bombshell! She has the height I've always dreamed of, and very, very pretty and so nice! She and Teryn are adorable together. Teryn is so cute, she did not stop smiling for a second! Her personality is darling and she is really intelligent (just like MOM). Brenda...our dear sweet little Asian girl: beautiful and so very funny! And, I swear she doesn't have a single wrinkle, no kidding! She was so sweet for bringing me and Kelly facial moisturizer and a great facial cleanser...and I thought instantly...if that's her beauty secret, I'm using it everyday for the rest of my life! This is so funny...I think me, Brenda and Teryn are all the same height! LOL I thought we had a great time. Dave and Roy, just "sat on the sidelines" and let us girls chit chat, etc. Brenda: I think we should adopt the Lemon Drop Martini as the Rocktober Girls drink of choice! How about it...all of us together sipping Lemon Drop Martinis in cheetah pj's! OMG - I love the photos already! All in all it was GREAT! Brenda was such a trooper driving all the way there alone! As with my mini-meet with ravdeb and RoseMarie...it was so hard to say goodbye! I just wish we would have had more time together! But...that's what August is all about!
By the time Roy and I got back to the hotel (after midnight), I could not keep my eyes open! We stayed at the Hyatt in Valencia, and it was really very nice. The next morning was BRUTAL though. We had to get up at 6:15, shower, dress and meet Tony (the guy that built our engine). We went out for b-fast and then to Westech...a high-performance dyno testing place. All "the dudes" spent a good part of the day tweeking the engine, testing, re-testing and the end result is that the engine (which will be crated and shipped to Illinois soon and then hoisted into our GTO) came in at 592 HP!...slightly higher than what Roy was expecting! It was really exciting. That night we all went out for dinner and had a great time. Tony's wife was really nice! It was midnight when we got back to the hotel (again) when Roy realized he left his debit card back at the restaurant...they were closing...so we RACED over there, and got it! The next morning we again got up early, had b-fast and headed up the coast to San Francisco (400 miles). Roy got us there in 4.5 hours! We checked into the San Fran Hyatt in the heart of downtown...Roy took a nap, but not me, no way...I went shopping! LOL It was warm and sunny and I popped in and out of every store in downtown San Fran. I strolled along as if I owned the darned town! It felt great! That night we drove across the GG Bridge to Larkspur and had dinner with our friends, Jodi and Michael. Larkspur is GORGEOUS! Their house is built into the side of a mountain and they have huge Redwoods surrounding it. It was amazing... When we left San Fran yesterday afternoon, it was 75 degrees and sunny...we arrived in Chicago late last night (delayed due to the snow)...it was 23 degress and snowing...yuck...but the pilot made an announcement during our flight that the Bears had won, and everyone started clapping!
(Here's some photos...I should have had Roy take more, but we were so busy "yapping"...)

Oh wow, Laura, sounds like you had a BLAST!! What a great trip!!
It'll be Chicago vs. Indianapolis in the super bowl!!! (Don't know about Chicago but Indy is going NUTS!) -
Laura!!! So Glad you are back and I love the pics!!!
So we have two Rock-tober teams in the Superbowl!!! Oh No!! What are we going to do??? I'm not sure who to root for!
I love Lemon Drops too - I vote for making it our official drink!
Talk to you all tomorrow. (((hugs))) -
Laura, you all look FAB!!
oooh, San Fran... one of my favourites cities in US. Absolutely beautiful. That Crookedest Street In The World is just adorable. -
Love the pics! Looks like Laura and Kelly have the same hair cut! You all look great and it sounds like it was tons of fun.
There are a lot of Israelis that live in San Fran because it is very similar to Haifa...hilly, similar weather, weird streets, etc...
Was there once years ago.
Lemon drop martini..I have no idea what that is like but am always willing to try!!! I, too, am a wine drinker. But in Barcelona I drank Sangria every evening with my girlfriend :-) So, when in Rocktober Land, I'll drink the Rocktober drink!
Laura..I have a blue jean jacket that looks very similar to yours!!! I bought it in the States last summer...cropped, long sleeves like that and collar...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Are we twins?
Kelly..thanks for the info on the cheetah vs leopard. Love the pictures. They are beautiful animals. I'm still on a hunt for cheetah wear. I WILL find!
Feel well everybody. So exciting to see pics of some of us together. You all look so good!!!! Beautiful! -
Laura keeps showing us that navel!! You all look like you had a wonderful time!
I'm still here enjoying beautiful Barbados. I love this place and I think I'm very lucky that my ancestors are from here. My father gave my siblings and I a piece of property and we are about to build some apartments on it.
Today I'm going to buy duty free fragrances and go to the beach. I just got a call for a lunch date at 1pm so I gotta dash. I'll be back on our side of the river tomorrow night. -
Tracy, I bet Barbados is beautiful......Lucky girl that you will be able to build there. You won't want to come home believe me it is cold and nasty here.....I am waiting for my car to warm-up, I hate this.
Laura, Love the pictures. You all look wonderful.
Lemon-drop martini? I guess I am out of the loop too since I don't know what that is unless that is what my sister makes she uses lemonade in her martini's. I like whiskey sour's and strawberry daiquiris myself.
Well, gotta run before my car decides to take off by itself.
Gail -
Lemon drop martinis sound good - never have had a martini either but sure am willing to try it!
TracyNY-Barbados sounds beautiful!!
Gail - stay warm today!
Have a wonderful day ladies!! -
Lemon Drop martinis have citrus vodka, lemonade and lemon juice in them. So they basically taste like lemonade! YUM!!!! I used to have a good recipe for them, but not sure I can find it now.
Tracy - wow, Barbados. I love Tropical places, you are very lucky! Maybe the Rocktober Sisters will have to venture to Barbados some year! Now, wouldn't that just be fun?
Laura - how is poor Buddy-Love? Did he do OK with Grandma while you were gone? Has he been set free yet?
Dave & I had Killian this weekend. We noticed that he is acting very strangely - flighty and always scared. That just is not normal for him, so I emailed the EX asking if Killian had been mistreated. He said that he also noticed that Killian wasn't right but that he can't get anyone in his "new" family to fess up to mistreating him.
I haven't kept you all in the loop, but my EX has served his live-in with an eviction notice - evidentally it wasn't working out, so she and her two boys (whom I suspect were being rough with Killian. They were left home alone with him alot) are supposed to move out by the end of the month....
Now, here is the kicker - he served her with an Eviction notice and then left the country on business for 3 weeks. He will be very lucky if she doesn't entirely clean his house out and take it with her when she moves. If that happens, maybe it will help to reinforce just how stupid he has been acting!
At least my Mom and I have Killian now while he is gone and they are supposedly moving out. I am not going to let Killian go back there until he can prove to me that she and her boys are really gone.
What a mess! But you know what? NOT MY PROBLEM! :-)
Well, I had better get to work. That is my Drama for today.
Have a good day! -
Oprah'sLegends Lemon Drop Martini
INGREDIENTS
The juice of 6 lemons
4 Tbsp. sugar
6 fresh mint leaves
4 shots of vodka
Ice in shaker
A sugar-rimmed martini glass
Mix lemon juice, sugar and vodka in a martini shaker filled with ice. Shake well and pour into sugar-rimmed martini glass. Garnish with mint. (Serves 2)
Absolute Lemon Drop Martini
1 1/2 oz Absolut® Citron vodka or any other lemon flavored liquor
1 tsp sugar
1/4 lemon
Slice the 1/4 lemon into two seperate wedges. Place in a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Pour the Absolut Citron into the shaker, and add one teaspoon of sugar. Shake vigorously. Strain into a sugar-rimmed cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist, and serve. (serves 1)
Notice that Oprah's has 4 shots of vodka and the recipe serves 2, the other one serves one.
-----------
Kelly's recipe is easier
Get one of those martini shakers, pour in some vodka, pour in some Diet Sprite, squeeze in some lemon juice and do the Hokey Pokey ...... then pour it into a sugar rimmed martini glass, add a piece of lemon candy (a real lemon drop candy)!
Ladies, you won't hurt my feelings if you don't vote for mine .... mine is really easy to do when it's a last minute idea, so you can just save it for the standby drink and vote for one of the others as the official drink ....... but some people like the bubbles!! -
OMG I don't know which one to vote for! I hope that this is my most difficult and important task!!! I actually like each of the recipes and would try them all.
I like Oprah's because of the mint..I have mint growing everywhere here (I have had it pulled up by the roots and it is back and growing strong..fresh mint tea is a biggie here). I have all the ingredients in the house (MIL has a lemon tree).
I don't know what "real lemon drops" are. Fill me in on this one. If they are real, do they grow from the ground?? LOL Are you talking about the hard candy flavored lemon things? Are there some flavored with real lemons?
Victoria..I was ROFL when you said you'd puke on your new leopard pj's. I think that if we are drinking in our cheetah wear, I will get dizzy looking at everybody!!!
Tracy..that is awful about your ex and that whole story. I'm mostly concerned about killian. Poor thing. I'm sure that having Killian at your house will help. you are right. This is not YOUR problem!!!
Graycie..I remember having to warm up my car in the winters. We don't have this problem here. I am trying to remember how I got my two little ones bundled, got the car scraped off with all the ice and snow and warmed the car up, all by myself. I know I did this. I did it all the time. The kids were babies when I lived in Chicago. I took them everywhere with me. hmmmmmmmmm..I can't seem to choreograph how I'd do it today!!!! Leave the kids in the car? Leave them warm in the house? What did I do????
Barbados..I could see the Rock-tober Girls invading Barbados. I can picture it now...a blurb of PINK and cheetah wear landing in Barbados, lemon drop martinis in hand.... TracyNY leading the way....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh -
I voted for Kelly's recipe because usally I don't drink liquor and this one sounds like it could be a "virgin" drink easily enough. I love, love lemonade and I'll bet this drink is deee-licious!
How I enjoyed hearing of your meeting together!
Good news. . . my husband is going to get another position here at the University of Rochester. To make a long story short - he worked here in the hospital fitness & wellness center until last July when he left for what he thought (and I hoped) was a better opportunity. It didn't work out and he has been without a full-time job since the end of November. He has now gone through the University's employment office again and they have several positions that look like he could do well. A few of them are temp-to-hire jobs so he will probably get placed in one of them within this week. Whew!!
I just want to say again a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who sent cards and birthday wishes to me. Since I didn't even get a card from my own "flesh-and-blood" sister or brothers, I really appreciate you remembrance of me and all the caring that comes through in your messages.
I haven't felt well enough in the last week to respond to everyone but that is no sign that I am indifferent. I always hope for your well-being and happiness.
I am now beginning to feel better and, knock on wood, may get well without gooing through that awful coughing stage. I am keeping my fingers crossed and still going to bed earlier than usual for the extra sleep.
Mary -
I too am not sure what a real lemon drop is !!
Ravdebs post reminded me of a story my aunt told me about getting the kids into the car in the snow in Ohio. She had them all bundled into snow wear and made them wait on the steps whilst she reversed the car out. When she got out, my cousin Andrew who was 4 at the time , had tried to lick the ice on the railings only HIS TONGUE HAD STUCK !! See, its not just me!
Rose Marie - i am glead things are improving for you, we will have to convice you to keep covered up soon!
Tracey - enjoy Barbados for me - cant think of anyone who could possibly ring more enjoyment out of it for us all.
The photos were great - laura i love your hair !! Are you naturally blessed with good hair or has the hairdresser been working over time girl?? As for Brenda, does that skin cream come in buckets?? Kelly reminds me of Sharon osbourne ( that is a compliment by the way Kelly!)
Mary - i am glad about the job. Work is short for Rog at the moment so have a small grasp on what you must have been dealing with.
tracey S - well if anyone had it coming to him - enough said!!
Better go, Quiz night at school.
Everyone else , thinking os you all
Debbie
