    Hi

Gosh - you lot can write.....
My real name is Alice Jill - seems to be as many Alices on the site as there is talk of donkeys and the "S" word.

For those with lymph swelling - the tape from Japan works really well and is very non-invasive. My kids thought it looked like a spider or octopus - difficult to imagine I know. Anyway it really works well.

Laura - enjoy your night out and I hope you get your results soon - waiting stinks

    Cheers Jill

    Hi ladies,

It's so hard to keep up with you all In regards to names....mine is Amy Beth....I was named after my mom's favorite Little Women in the book I'm glad my first name is not Beth...it would really piss me off to know that I was named after the one who died!

I'm in a foul mood. I hate complaining. I'm just feeling down in the dumps. I have a bit of a bug (maybe because half of my child patients are hacking on me all the time, wiping their noses on my toys, etc.) and any time I feel sick, I just automatically go into a bad mood. It's not helping that there is a woman on the young survival coalition who just found out she has bone mets....mainly to her vertabrae. I keep wondering how she found it, would I know something was wrong, etc. We finished dose dense chemo the same time, so of course I'm freaking out. I try not to compare our stats, feel like I did something better, more agressive, etc. but it is a bit scary. I hate that I got this so young because I feel like there is so much time for it to come back. My 30th birthday is in 3 weeks....I'm ready to start a new decade. It has to be better, right? I feel like it's a do-over.

On the good side, I've lost more of my chemo weight because I've fallen in love with the elliptical machine at the gym At least my body feels strong...that's always my protection against cancer in my mind.

When are we all going to meet? DId we decide? I need my Rocktober girls weekend

Laura...I'm thinking of you. It sounds like you're keeping yourself busy in waiting for the results. If they don't call tomorrow, call the office and tell them that you literally will not be able to function through the weekend if they don't call you. For some reason, I don't think doctors like it when you notify them that your mental health may be on the line if they dilly dally. It always works for me

    Hi to everyone else

    Love,
    Amy

Hi Everyone, I am fine and thanks for thinking of me......All I can say it that it has been crazy around here. I don't know where to start it is going to take me forever to read through all the posts. First of all I want to tell Laura I am glad her biopsy when well. You have been in my thoughts and I will be waiting patiently with the rest of the Roctober girls for the results. When I had my biopsy it took a week for me to get the results. Really surprised if you get them today. You go and have fun with your friends ....
    ...
Nothing much to report at my end. The doctor doesn't know what is wrong with me..She said it isn't arthritis...She said it could be a disc in my back like Ravdeb but my back doesn't hurt so I think she kind of ruled that out. Then she mentioned bursitis. In the end she just told me it is some kind of inflamation and to take Aleve for 2 wks. I have to say it is better. I told my PP I was worried about bone cancer and she told me she understood but not to worry it wasn't that .Does she really know? Oh well, I am not going to worry about it for now. unless it gets worse. Oh gosh, now I just read Amy's post........yeah, how would you know?
Amy, I am just like you when I don't feel good I think the worse. I feel bad that you are so young. You are a lot stronger than I would have been at your age that's for sure. I was 56 when I was dx with BC for whoever is keeping track.

Well, I will continue later, I have to go back 3 pages of posts........

Hi Laura, glad to see you "check in." We're all waiting with you!! Love you lots!
Amy - hope you get to feeling better soon! (I'm glad you weren't named Beth also!!)
I skipped the Young Surv. Coalition meeting in Indy Monday night. A lady I met at the last meeting wasn't going to be able to make it and I wasn't in the mood for striking up cancer conversation with strangers...I guess that's selfish because I could go as a blessing but I just wasn't in the mood. Sorry you hear about the young lady!!! such a bummer!!!
2 more pounds off...and I even had a glass of wine tonight!
Ok...a scream followed by "are you ok..." and lots of attempts to rectify the situation...yes, talking about my children in the other room - gotta run!

    I take that back I missed 6 pages.......This may take awhile.......lol

Debbie, Glad to hear Sam is better, he looks really good. What a fast healer, I am sure your love for him had a lot to do with that. I like the picture of the kids, wow, your nephew is tall....

Victoria, you husband is cute.......you make a cute couple. They thought my daughter had celiac disease but now they aren't sure. I hope not because she already has diabetes she doesn't need anything else. Your right, it is unfair, especially since your dh takes care of himself. I feel bad for him. There isn't much he can eat is there? Glad your lab tests were good.......

Laura, I hope you are having fun with your friends. I liked my name in Russia, I will have to send that to my friends......

Cindy, glad to hear your biopsy showed just fat.......

Ravdeb, not sure if I mentioned this before but your house is beautiful. So different looking than the houses we have here. It's looks big too......My house would probably fit into your garage.....lol...That is too bad about your daughters boyfriends mother. January is way too long to wait for a biopsy. I hope they do it sooner. They made me wait and it wasn't good. My tumor got bigger. She is lucky she has you to help her through this......As far as the rib pain, I have had it all..........ha.....I think it is from radiation. Mine comes and goes. Maybe you overdid.

Michele, I like the pictures of your trip.....I can tell it was a fun time. I like your hair too. (I am really into the hair these days.......ha.).....I think it looks great!

Cathy, Hey, I just noticed your new avatar....Your hair looks good....Believe me your hair is better than mine.......I still have to post a picture. It is getting longer but it is very fine. Now I know why I never cut my hair short.....

Amy, The villa you stayed in is just gorgeous.........I would have hated to leave. It looks like you had a fun housewarming party. You and your family are very photogenic. The picture's are great. Your brother looks a lot like my son.

Rosemarie, congratulations on the weight lost......I only lost about 3 lbs. Not doing so well........But then again I look at those anorexic twins on ET, anyone seen them?.........yuck! maybe I will stay fat.....lol......I have an anorexic sister, one disease I don't understand......

Tracy, You can tell you are in LOVE...That's wonderful. I heard pomegranate juice is good for you......according to Dr. Oz on the Oprah show. I haven't tried it yet but I think I will give it a try.

Maryanne, I didn't realize your husband would be gone that long......It must be hard, I give you a lot of credit. I am such a baby, I would hate that.....

Well, I am going to have to finish reading the last two pages later it has taken me over an hour so far to try and catchup. Getting a little tired.......HA

How strange names can be .......

My grandmother was Norma Ruth and went by Ruth.
My mom was Nora Carol and goes by Carol.

I am just Kelly Marie. And Teryn is Teryn Marie.

Debbie, Bunco is a dice game played by ladies ... 12 ladies and you rotate tables and you only host the game once a year.......so each lady has a turn to be hostess with the mostest. We usually only get 2 sometimes 3 games in because we talk, eat and drink too much!!! It's always fun.

I'm Gail Ruth, my mother was Grayce Ruth but after she passed away we found out her name was really Harriet Ruth Grace....I wonder why she kept her real name a secret. She had a lot of secret's....We had a good laugh at it but really, why wouldn't she tell us, her own daughter's her real name? As you can see she switched the names around, omitted the Harriet and spelled Grace with a Y......

Arent named strange! My other gran was called Madge ( short for Margery) When my dad went to get her death certificate he found her name was Elisabeth. Who chooses to be called Madge??? my full name is Deborah Anne, and i always wanted to be called Beth - dont know what you have against it!
    I too have a bike
I managed to leave my old bright orange bike outside and it went rusty (what a shame !) but my father in law arrived with one for me the other night. I hate cycling - i am always at the back. Remind me to tell you about the time my friend ended up on a house roof on a school cycling trip when i have more time.

Sam is now refusing to eat anything but ham. Has us over a barrel as we cant really starve him out of this fad because he needs his strength, will see what the vet says later.

So many posts, I cant catch up on all of them! Ravdeb, stunning pictures, your house is beautiful. I dont know how to fill out questionaires, I have seen them on other posts.

I was so happy to read about pain in lumpectomy side. I have had constant aching on that side, I cant even roll over and certainly no hard hugs. The past few days it has been hurting more than usual. I never worried about my health before bc now I am in a constant state of fear, its so annoying to say the least.

I am 56, always felt young, and miss that feeling. I was in New York for 12 days visiting my kids and helping a ton - shopping, cooking, taking care of babies. I took Isaac to therapy to give my daughter a break - he is 9 months old - people are stunned when I say he is getting speech therapy, but that is what they do for deaf babies. The therapist told me he will "fly" after his cochlear implant, since cognitively he seems to be excellent - very alert.

My Jewish name is Leah Mirel - but only my late parents ever called me Leah, it has only been Linda. I made the mistake of giving my youngest son 3 legal names (Yitzhak Isaac Moshe) - big mistake!!! It is very awkward for him and sometimes he is questioned at Immigration when he goes back and forth to college in New York since not all his documents match. I should just have put Isaac - I can legally change his name, but don't want to do it while he is regularly travelling.

Two women I personally know have had recurrences - one of them started a wonderful cancer survivors group for Jewish women, she is such a special person. This is after 8 years and I think it is serious. The other woman has had a recurrence in the same breast after 4 years. The doctors are concerned that she has mets to other organs and are conducting tests. It makes me so upset for them, and scared as well.

Linda..we kinda have almost the same name! Kinda, almost..that's close enough..especially since we have a few other things in common...

My kids each only have one name cuz my Israeli dh said that 2 names was not a thing that Israelis do. They have Hebrew names and not named after anybody but each name has special meaning..

Yael..our 22 year old daughter... that was my favorite name when I was very young and would write stories about a girl named Yael that I made up. So, I really wanted to name her that. My dh had another name in mind and I liked both so after she was born, he looked at her and said she looked like a Yael..and so she was named.
Interestingly enough..Devorah and Yael are mentioned together in the bible..didn't know that at the time!

Gilad...That's how we write it..one word out of convenience..but his name is really Gil-Ad... Gil meaning joy and Ad...in this instance means forever.

And Matan...comes from the Hebrew word..matana which is gift. Matan was born on my dh's birthday and I told my dh the night before that I thought he'd be getting a really big birthday gift..and he did!

Linda..that is sad about the women you know and their recurrence. But you know..they can keep on fighting. Depending on the situation..many women live for a good number of years with mets. Still..it's scary and the unknown makes it even harder.

If my lumpectomy side is still feeling like this in Feb when I go for another follow-up, I will be sure to tell my onc and see what she says.

I'm tired of the pains. I don't like to take meds unless I absolutely have to but my back is getting bad. Hopefully it won't get worse. I'm tired of not being able to do the things I like to do, or go quickly through the house cleaning up. Everything is harder to do and more tiring and I'm so achey now after cleaning the house this morning, washing the floors...didn't get to the second floor and my studio..forget it! My house cleaner couldn't come this week. Normally..before bc..that wouldn't make a difference to me..I'd just clean house. It was actually good cuz then I'd do stuff that wouldn't normally get done. But now..too hard on my old bones...

Debbie..if my kids were younger I'd match them up with yours. My daughter worked in an after school program outside of Boston a couple of years ago and one of the kids who is probably like 9 or 10 years old, e-mails to her! Her e-mails are amazing, too!

You've got a fussy dog! There must be something in the ham that Sam needs.

Went to the beach and took pictures. Will post after I get them on the computer.

BTW..there is a thread somewhere where women are posting pictures just because they like to. Check out the pic I posted there of me and my daughter. It is sure to entertain you all!!!

Debbie - my kids would love to be pen pals! In fact, that's been on my mind for a while! John Michael is 8 1/2 and Kiersten is 10. She is not on grade level, as you know, but it would be a great thing for both of them to do!
Babysitting for a friend so I'll have to come back...

Graycie, where is your new photo? I am so proud that you let the wig go and would love to see how you look now.

I got my LE sleeves yesterday, I am so relieved not to have to do all the wrapping and folding anymore. This thing is so tight I reckon I should see some great results.

My antique china cabinet comes tonight, I'm so excited!! I really will post some snaps. I'm just busy entertaining my mother that's why I haven't got around to it.

    Hi All!

Wow we have been having some big rain & wind storms this week. It is making my already long commute to work even longer. Last night it was 2 hours from my desk to my car (via the bus). UGH!

Sam is a smart little puppy, he know when he has you wrapped around his little paw.....

Gail - glad to see you!!

    Linda - Hi, too!

Debbie, how old are your kids again? I might have some friends with kids that would be interested in writing them.

My name is Tracy Lynn. My dad used to call me tlynn and now I use it for my username on email, etc. My mom is Lorraine Margaret. I have always loved the name Katie and when I figured out that I was never going to have a daughter to name Katie, I named one of our dogs Katie.

Not much else going on with me today. Just work - same stuff, different day.

    Hugs to you all!

Tracy NY..looking forward to the pictures! I hope your sleeve works for you!

Kelly seems to have wandered over to that thread to see me and my daughter...

Victoria..I always marvel at similarities and well...my mother in law's name is Ziva. It is her Hebrew name that they (some cousins here) gave her when she got to Israel after the holocaust. (she's a holocaust survivor). Ze'ev is a wolf, actually.

Hi Tracy Lynn...hope you didn't get toooooooooo wet!

We continue to have sunshine, thank goodness for that. Love it.

Victoria - that sounds like one of my stories! I did get a towel stuck in the running machine at the gym once. It took the engineer a couple of days to fix it as it was an all singing all dancing computerised one. I still see the guy who was my trainer then and he still laughs about it now.
Tracey - Catherine is 11 and Mark 9, the more the merrier as far as they are concerned! Rosemarie , i was hoping you would say that , i think they would all really enjoy that .
Havent seem Sherry for a while. There was a big thing in our papers yesterday about an area of Texas. By all accounts they have found a massive supply of either gas or oil( cant remember) and most of the people who live in that area have found that they own the mineral rights so have become millionaires overnight. Perhaps Sherry is to busy out spending!!
Sam back from vets, they drained a seroma , his chest heart and lungs are ok and his choking cough is slowly getting better. They treat him like a minor celeb which he just laps up!
Tracey - is Seattle like we see on Frasier?

Ok, a question i have been pondering Tracet NY.
Being as so many peple emigrated to the US years ago on long sea voyages etc, where do Americam antiques come from?
Not too hot on American history but apart from Native Americans, the US history is relatively short(?) . Have these antiques been shipped in later from other countries or are they not that old??
    Hmm

hmmmmmmmmmm... the USA is 230 years old. Antiques are considered antiques if they are 100 years old, right?

So, seems to me there could be American antiques, no???

Interesting observation. Tracy NY..where is your cabinet from?

We have antiques here in Israel, too, but they aren't Israeli..they are from other parts of the world.

I am so relieved! In fact I could barely speak to my gyn on the phone when she told me it was b9, because I had a huge lump in my throat - followed by a steady stream of tears. She said there's fibrocystic changes. I dodged the bullet...those damn bullets! Yay! Thanks for all your help through this, I really appreciate it. Bunco was fun last night - what happens at Bunco...stays at Bunco! LOL

    Love you all!
