Where's My Remote?

NancyLee,
You are not allowed to have a remote in your hand!!!!!

Funny Debra--That's EXACTLY what my sister said to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Life is Good-- Smiles NancyLee

I just wanted to let you all know you made my day. This is the first time I've visited this thread. I had to go back and read it all the way through. I haven't laughed this hard in a long, long time.
Thanks for the great stories. -
Okay--So you're welcome, but I'm in trouble because now I'm back home and I can't find the remote that goes with the VCR/DVD player. I'm going to go into town and go to the Radio Shack and get one of those universal remotes that runs everything and program it to all the tvs in the house plus all the other electronic thingys (Technical Term) that are run by remotes. Then I will put a leash on it and tie it to the TV and that way it can't get lost. Do you think this will work or am I just dreaming?????? Life is Good-- Smiles NancyLee

Okay, I came back from vacation and I had my cell phone with me. I know I did because I used it. So WHERE IS IT? I tried calling it to see if it would ring and I could find it that way, but I fear the battery is dead now. SIGH?? Hope I didn't leave it in some gas station between here and Oregon. Hope everyone has a wonderful July the 4th. Life is Good Smiles NancyLee
-
Nancy, Your cell phone is with your remotes.
-
Thanks, Debralynn, but I thought of that too. Want to know something cool??? I actually have every one of my remotes rounded up except for the one to the DVD player. I'm not too concerned about that one because I hardly have time to watch DVD's anyway. I found the last missing one in the magazine rack under the National Geographic. The local furniture store is having their annual Christmas in July sale so I went in and bought this little table that slides under the couch or a chair and it has this nifty little remote holder on the side of it. So for the time being, all the "found" remotes are in that little table. That should last about a week before I start "putting them where I'll be sure and find them" again!!!! Hope everyone had a super Monday. Life is good Smiles NancyLee
-
Did you find your cell phone? One day at work I lost my cell phone, keys and glasses. Sigh.
-
Check the lunch meat drawer in the fridge for your cell phone, somehow mine wound up in there...
Paula -
Yes, I found it but not in the fridge. I'm kinda ignoring it now because I'm on a short vacation and it keeps ringing from work and I have it on vibrate and not ring because I am Scarlett O'Hara-ing the work thing until I go back home. It's my nephew's 3rd birthday today, so we're partying with him. Hope everyone had a Super 4th. Life is Good Smiles NancyLee
-
Yeah Nancy,
You crack me up. I read scarlett O'Hara-ing and thought what???? Then I got it. (Not much gets by me!!!!! )
I am so glad you found your phone.
Hope you have a great mini vacation.
BTW, my daughter lost her glasses. She only had them one week. Any suggestions where to look????? -
Debra--If my Elephant's memory serves me correctly, and I do have a pretty good memory about SOME things, we all (including you) had a discussion about missing glasses on page 2 of this thread. Someone found their glasses on top of their own head so look closely at your daughter. If they're not there--I'm at a loss!!!!!!!!!!! Personally, I lost my glasses once and found them in the kleenex box by the bed. I guess they fell in there. I have this little stuffed puppy dog whose front feet are stuck together and he fits just perfectly around the bed post--So I stick my glasses in there at night. That way I haven't lost them at night and during the day, I don't take them off except to read. I'm nearsighted so I don't need the glasses to read--only to see!!!!! Happy Hunting!!! So back when I had no hair, I had this favorite cap that I wore A LOT because it has a full back instead of having that little arched opening and it has a pocket on the side that I could put stuff into. Well, it has been AWOL for about a year now and last night I was at this gas station and I took that washer thing that does windows and was washing the back driver side window and in the light from one of those big overhead gas station lights, I could see the bill of a cap sticking up between the window and the spare tire that is hooked up there behind the back seat. It's a jeep not a car so the spare tire stands up by the back window. Anyways, I reached in and jerked it out and lo and behold it was my favorite cap. Now how it got there or why in the world I would have even had it back there--I'll chalk up to chemo brain because I certainly don't have any other reason. The poor cap had dirt and black stuff from the tire all over and it's tan with a kinda purple trim that says in really tiny pink letters "Make early detection your first protection". So I used Oxyclean on it this morning and it looks just like new. YAY!! I could do an ad for that stuff. Now I can wear it to the Relay for Life next week and compare it to the pictures from 2 years ago. I'll have more hair and fewer pounds. It should be interesting. I did look for it for last year's relay and couldn't find it. Well, hope everyone has a great week. Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

Whoops! I did it again (thanks, Britney)!
So there I was, sitting on the john, examining the dead skin on my arms. I reached over to a basket I have that contains samples, lotions, gifts I'll probably never use, and found a tube of Donna Karan's "Cashmere Mist."
I examined the tube for a while, then applied it to my arms. It wasn't being absorbed so I tossed it into the waste basket. A few seconds later I retrieved it and actually read what was on the tube - Shampoo.
No, shampoo doesn't alleviate dead skin, but smells pretty darn good. The amazing thing is that 'Shampoo' is in the largest print on the tube.
As I often do when I do something stupid, I looked around to make sure that no one was watching me.
Fat chance considering I was on the john. -
ooooo...how the heck did i miss this hysterical thread?!!!! i sure can relate.
the clothes i wear to work are involved in a conspiracy against me. most of my slips are MIA and all black bras were gone for weeks. two miraculously reappeared this week just to screw with my head. i don't know where they disappear to after i take them off. i'm pretty certain they're leaving on their own in the middle of the night and laughing all the way. if i find the blouse for an outfit, i can't find the skirt. if i find those two things, i can't find the jacket. i have nightmares that some morning i'll try to get ready and all i'll have is a nehru jacket and too tight bermuda shorts hanging in there. it could happen. -
I thought I was the only person with wandering laundry. I lost a pair of jeans for almost 3 months. I found it in my daughter's room. She was confused about how it had arrived there. She wears a much smaller size than I do. Sometimes I find that I have an empty drawer where the shirts should be.
Jackie -
Hey my jeans went mia too! They were gone for 3 months, I finally went and bought another pair. (like I could afford that)
Guess what my husnband came out with jeans that were way to tight on him. Hey those are my missing jeans! -
How about bringing your IPOD back for the 2nd time for repairs? The first time they said nothing was wrong. They were right, I called the computer store and they said you cannot plug your IPOD into USB's on the keyboard, you have to plug in elsewhere.
2nd time..... I tell them, I brought this in for power issues last time (it would not charge when connected to the usb on the keyboard) and you said there was nothing wrong. How about it won't even go on now?? Huh?
So he said, "Well, you should just turn the HOLD button off."
OH. I didn't know there was a hold button on an IPOD. -
Found the solution after I lost BOTH remotes someplace in my bedroom -- went out and bought a third remote and within 15 minutes I found the other two! Now if that will only work with my prescription reading glasses (bought drug-store readers at $9.99 -- don't even want to think about how much it would cost to replace the others.)
-
I just got a MP3 player and I'm driving my son crazy!! I can't remember anything he tells me about how to use it. Everynight I show up in his room and he just rolls his eyes. Last night he told me to use my old cd player and give it up!!
-
ROTFLMAO++++ JUST use the old cd player.
My son, the web master, has tried and tried to walk us thru stuff on the 'puter and finally told us that the reason we have "tech support" is to call the company!
So, we do that now. My dh would argue with son about his recommendations, but he doesn't argue with tech support.
Long ago and far away, we gave our dgtr. a pc when they first came out, before internet, for Christmas.
DH went to make hosp. rounds and told her not to touch it till he came home and could help her set it up, etc (this is the guy who suddenly becomes illerate with instruction books).
Well, by the time he was home, she had it up and running, playing a game and had already written and printed her thank you notes on the thing.!!
The kids have stayed that far in advance of us the whole way. -
So I got to the restaurant to meet my friend for lunch today at about 1:05. She wasn't there... I waited until 1:30 and then ordered lunch. She never showed up. Thank goodness I always have a few books in the car.
Finished lunch, went home, checked my calendar. Looks like I showed up one week early.
What an idiot. -
That is too bad,Straykat, but at least maybe you got a good meal and some reading done. I always keep a stack of bks in my Jeep as I got used to that during med appts. I totally burned up my microwave and had to toss it during rads. I was on the phone and smelled smoke--thank goodness I was awake! Bought extra remote controls as that it the pits when the TV/DVD won't work. At least you know exactly where you will be next week at the same time and same place. You have to laugh or I would go nuts!

Iris -
I just found this site last night and laughed so hard. Well today I have to join in. I was at a cancer support group at my church and was running a little late for my rads apt. So I pulled up and threw the keys at the valet and ran in and pushed the button for the down elevator to the basement.............the door opens I jump on and push the button and the next thing I know I am going up. I am like "Yikes" I don't need this ..I am already late. We get to level 1 again , so people get on and I say I am sorry it is going down and push the darn button again and up we go..........seriously, I think something is wrong with the elevator. When it get back to ground level I jump out and get on another one and "Lightbulb moment"......realize I am pushing the ground level button all the time....not the LL( or basement).........what can I say?????????/
-
StrayKat, don't feel bad. I went shopping for a birthday party, made sure to get it wrapped, got my 5 year old daughter ready and took her to the birthday party at a Jumping Zone ...... oops, one week early!! Good thing it was not one week late!!
-
I missed a board of directors' meeting at the daycare where I am the Director because I got it into my head that it was on the 6th at 5:00 when it was really on the 5th at 6:00. So I stayed an extra day out of town and then came back to find that the meeting took place without me. Actually, that may have been kind of a good thing--I have better things to do with my time than sit at a meeting--Like playing with my little nephew, watching the sunset, going for a walk and enjoying the day--You know--productive things!!! Hope everyone had a joyous day--Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

I think I have always been dyslexic, but chemo has really brought it on. Even the girls at the bank have caught it from me. I need (20) 5's and get (5) 20's. Or yesterday wanted (2) 50's and got (5) 20's. I need them to help me.

I have a great one about loosing glasses. Took my glasses off to do something and then had a load of laundry on the table to do. Did laundry and then a 1/2 hour later torn the house apart looking for my glasses, for the life of me couldnt remember when I took them off or where I put them.
As I was hanging the laundry out and pinning one of my sweat shirts to the line I find my glasses in the laundry basket mixed in with the clothes. I;m like OMG are they still in one piece after being washed in the laundry tub. They were and were definitely clean!!!!
One of the many I dont believe I just did that moment......
Michele Wenz -
Oh, my gosh, Michele, it's a good thing you opted to hang your laundry out instead of tossing it in the dryer. I'm sure that your glasses wouldn't have survived the dryer as well as they did the washer!!! Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

Someone sent this to me this morning..... enjoy
I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look
over at my car and decide my car needs
washing.
As I start toward the garage, I notice that
there is mail on the porch table that I
brought up from the mailbox earlier.
I decide to go through the mail before I wash
the car.
I lay my car keys down on the table, put the
junk mail in the garbage can under the table,
and notice that the can is full.
So, I decide to put the bills back on the
table and take out the garbage first.
But then I think, since I'm going to be near
the mailbox, when I take out the garbage
anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.
I take my checkbook off the table, and see
that there is only 1 check left. My extra
checks are in my desk in the study, so I go
inside the house to my desk where I find the
can of Pepsi that I had been drinking.
I'm going to look for my checks, but first I
need to push the Pepsi aside so that I don't
accidentally knock it over. I see that the
Pepsi is getting warm, and I decide I should
put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.
As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi, a
vase of flowers on the counter catches my
eye--they need to be watered.
I set the Pepsi down on the counter, and I
discover my reading glasses that I've been
searching for all morning.
I decide I better put them back on my desk,
but first I'm going to water the flowers.
I set the glasses back down on the counter,
fill a container with water and suddenly I
spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the
kitchen table.
I realize that tonight when we go to watch
TV, I will be looking for the remote, but I
won't remember that it's on the kitchen
table, so I decide to put it back in the den
where it belongs, but first I'll water the
flowers.
I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a
bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the
remote back down on the table, get some
towels and wipe up the spill.
Then, I head down the hall trying to remember
what I was planning to do.
At the end of the day:
----the car isn't washed,
----the bills aren't paid,
----there is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on
the counter,
-- --the flowers don't have enough water,
----there is still only 1 check in my checkbook,
----I can't find the remote,
----I can't find my glasses,
----and I don't remember what I did with the
car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing
got done today, I'm really baffled because I
know I was busy all day long, and I'm really
tired.
I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll
try to get some help for it, but first I'll
check my e-mail.
