Where's My Remote?

Love it! That is too funny...Amazing what we'll do some times to get new stuff! Tee Hee...

HMMMMM--Something similar to this happened to me only I threw away the little paddle that goes in the bottom of my bread machine. You know that little plastic thing that whirls around and mixes up the dough. It ended up in the garbage when the loaf of bread didn't turn out right and I got miffed and tossed it in the trash. I didn't notice that the little plastic paddle thingy was gone til the next time I went to make bread and it JUST doesn't work without that part. Now I need to either see if I can just get that or I need to get a whole new machine. SIGH!! Someday I plan to do an ALL-OUT seach for my little brain. Wish me luck. NancyLee

To all those who have lost remotes, have you seen the new commercial for yogurt? It has this woman talking to this man and she is swinging this spoon of yogurt all around while talking about losing her remote. The last line made me think of you.... "why would the remote be in the freezer????
It's a great commercial, too bad I can't remember what yogurt they are advertising!!!!! -
This may been mentioned before, but this is a long thread to investigate!
When I want to make a phone call I pick up the remote and wonder why there isn't a dial tone. When I want to change chanels I pick up the phone and wonder why I'm not watching "Clean Sweep," rather than the 45th rerun of "Law & Order."
My daughter, thirty years younger, reassures me that she does the same, but I think she's humoring me. -
This is the best thread!!
-
Guess WHAT???????? I cleaned my house and found my REMOTE and PART of the other things I've managed to MISPLACE. I'm a Happy Camper!!! I THINK that a small part of my mind is returning to normal. YAY!! Life is Good --Smiles--NancyLee

Yesterday was a low point. I picked up the phone to call my daughter at the same time I got a plastic bottle of V-8 out of the fridge. I know you're supposed to shake the V-8 before drinking - so what did I do? That's right, I shook the phone.
Sigh. Oy. Ay, caramba. -
I'm not so sure that's a low point as much as a funny point. Did your daughter get all shook up? Have you ever walked across a room and noticed that you have something in your hand that you've carried from another room and you think--Why do I have this? and What was I going to do with it when I got it in here? I kinda do stuff like this all the time. So far I haven't been half way up the stairs and forgotten whether I'm going up or down, but I'm sure that day will come too!!!!!! StrayCat, you just gave me a belly laugh which I dearly needed. I'm still laughing.
I haven't visited this thread before, but I'm gonna go back and read other's posts. Too funny. And I've got plenty of my own stupid things I've done. Some I can't remember!

Shirley, Don't think of them as "stupid" things--Rather think of them as "Endearingly Goofy"!!! Life is Good--Smiles--NancyLee

I found the remote just fine...As I picked it up and went to dial thinking it was the telephone! I immediatley thought of this post and had to share.
-
Dianne--Thanks for sharing. I LOVE knowing I'm not the only one who does such things. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU--HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU--I HOPE YOUR DAY WAS STUPENDOUS-HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!!!! It's lucky for you that you can't really hear me singing!! Life is Good--Smiles--NancyLee

I went to the clinic today for some tests so to treat myself--I stopped at Pizza Hut and got a Veggie Lovers and drove all the way home with that great pizza smell wafting thru my jeep. I got home and unpacked the vehicle of all my bags and mail, etc. Then I got everything put away and went to eat the pizza and couldn't find it. I looked everywhere and then went out into the garage and checked the jeep. No pizza--just the lingering odor. So came back into the house and searched again and went back to the garage and turned the lights on this time and Voila--There was the pizza--on top of the jeep. I must have sat it there to take other stuff out and forgot about it. Then I drove the jeep from in front of the house and parked it in the garage. Lucky me--the pizza didn't fall on the driveway. SIGH!! I'm glad I live in the country--Nobody sees me do the goofy things I do!!!!! Hope everyone had a super day--Life is Good--Smiles--NancyLee

I have seen couple times cars go by with the purse on top of the car and once my friends drove home with wedding cake on top of their car. They made it all the way home.
Wonder if they've had as good excuse for doing it as we do.... -
I am just feelong soooooo normal after reading this thread !!
And chuckling just a bit too ! -
Too funny!
I've been doing this kind of stuff since I was a child. Now I'm REALLY beginning to wonder about this dent I saw in my head when I shaved it. Seems I can't own it up to chemo -
Love the pizza story... The worse part is, I did stuff like this B4 CHEMO!
-
I really would like to blame chemo brain for my forgetfulness...but mine started about the time I had kids and has progressively gotten worse. I blame STRESS. My worse event was ..I lost a $$$$$$check when we closed (no I did it all ! ) on a house. My husband couldn't believe I didn't know what I did w/ it. I was horrified I could be so careless....Then it was found..Deposited in the bank !
I still have no clue how it got there..and this was before chemo..can u imagine how bad I am now ? So I think we are all under enormous stress and that is why we do such bizarre things ! What do u think ? -
Totally agree.

Okay - last night at 6:30 P.M. I realized I hadn't taken one of my pills. I reached for the prescription bottle, took one out and swallowed it with a glass of water. When I put the prescription bottle down, I realized I had mistakenly taken a sleeping pill! My dh was making dinner - I told him what had happened, he laughed and said he'd put my dinner in the "fridge" till the morning, because he knew, as well as I, that I would soon be fast asleep and not waking up until the next morning. Sure enough...I woke up the next morning at 7:00 A.M. - quite refreshed! I had b-b-q ribs and a baked potatoe for breakfast! Yummee!

I have been finished with chemo for almost a year and I seem to be getting worse!! I couldn't find my keys for about a week. I had laid them down on the hood of the car in the little space where the windshield wipers are. We had been driving the car all over town. Once I found the keys, I remembered laying them down, thinking....this is probably a mistake....you won't remember where you left your keys..... sheesh. At least I know myself pretty well.

I found my remote in a bag of winter hats, scarves, and gloves. It had been missing for a good three weeks, the last I saw of it was in my bed beside me before I dozed off. Then it was gone!
I searched the bed clothes, between the head and foot boards, under the bed, behind the nightstands, nothing. I figured oh well, I must've eaten it.
Then my best friend came to visit (this was back in December) and needed some gloves, goes into a bag in the closet and comes out with my remote. It seems that the bag had been beside the bed, the remote fell into it, and I put the bag away before I realized the darned thing was missing!! -
I'm 3 1/2 months out from chemo and chemo brain is getting worse. Couple weeks ago my son called me at my office. Couple minutes into the conversation I felt and my cell phone wasn't on my side. I said oh my gosh I've left my cell phone somewhere. I kept talking and started feeling under all the stacks of paper on my desk for the phone. In a minute I said never mind I found it. He asked where was it and I said in my ear I'm talking to you on it. The other day I couldn't figure out why my right breast looked flat, I had my prosthesis in wrong side out. Last Saturday I went to Target, when I came out I couldn't remember where I parked my car and walked up and down the lines of parked cars and couldn't find it. I was so fatigued and ready to sit on the sidewalk have a cry and call my husband to come drive through the parking lot looking for my car. Finally decided to give it one more try. As I was walking down a row of cars I bumped into a friend and she said I just saw your car and figured you were shopping. My reply was, thank you Lord, where did you see it that's what I'm looking for. It was about 5 cars in front of me. Half the time I can't remember my agents names and just stare with blank look on my face. My co-workers just look at me and say that darn chemo brain again.
-
Now THAT was funny. Oh, and I did the car thing too! I did find it, but was ready to sit down and cry because I was sooo tired.
-
Hi Ladies, I think that the "losing the car" syndrome is pretty common even w/o chemo brain. I see lots of people scanning the parking lots for their cars along with me and they can't all be chemo graduates. The remote in the glove bag was really funny and the keys in the wiper space of the car is a gem. I Love, love, love, love, love it that I'm not alone in my goofiness. Thanks for sharing your stories. Life is Good-Smiles--NancyLee

I'm visiting my sister and I lost her remote yesterday. It's one of those universal ones that runs the vcr and the cd player and just everything and is HUGE and colorful and HOW could I misplace it??? I'm hoping to find it today because it's one of those TVs like on Pleasantville that you can only turn on with the remote. Maybe Don Knotts will show up at the front door to fix it like in the movie although I hope not because he passed away last year!!!!!!!! Pleasantville is one of my favorite movies by the way!! Back to hunting--Life is Good--Smiles--NancyLee
