Hi back at cha!! Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far! I am doing OK; still exhausted, but getting better each day! On the back-side of chemo & heading towards rads! Just one day at a time! Happy Mother's Day & God Bless!!!
-
HELLO LADIES,
I WOULD LIKE TO WISH EVERYONE A HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!
-
Happy Mother's Day to all!
Yogi, that is very touching and inspiring that you have been reunited with your friends!
-
Hello everyone and Happy Mothers Day.
Sharon it is great to see your smiling face. How are you doing?
Yogi I am doing the Relay for Life on June 13. I have a team called the "Cancer Kickers" our campsite theme is "Boot Camp/Giving cancer the boot"....We are dressing up in camoflauge. And try to decorate our camp with army stuff. Still working on some things. But I believe it is going to be a great night. Very emotional also. I have went to Relay for a life once before and it was so emotional and inspiring. I said too that I will go every year but to my surprise this year I will be wearing a survivor T-Shirt and attending the survivor supper with my husband. I am on the Relay for life planning commitee. I will be helping with the luminaria. They did an article in our news paper about me being a survivor and participating for the first time. It was pretty cool. People calling me and wishing me well. I am a very quiet and private person but it feels as though people keep looking at me now. By the way does any one know where I can get dog taggs made? I want to get all of my team members one made with our team name on them. Please let me know. Thanks.
Well I am off to enjoy the rest of my mothers day. I received breakfast in bed from my kids and some nice presents and a beautiful card from my husband. Kids were in the bed with us so couldn't thank him properly.lol...but later....Now he is cooking out on the grill it's smelling pretty good. He says I am the queen for the day and not to lift a hand. And thats exactly what I am going to do.
Have a blessed day ladies (all of you)
love you
sabrina
-
Hey Sabrina - You can get dog tags custom made on eBay; I just checked and there are many sellers that offer that service!!
-
Hello Everyone,
Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. Mom is doing ok on this new chemo (Carboplatin and Avastin). Tumor Markers are going down (God is good). Mom and I enjoyed a weekend together in PA two weeks ago, we went to a breast cancer conference and did some shopping also.
I hope everyone is doing well and getting the rest they need.
Hugs to all
Crystal

Hi Linda - Trying to rest as much as I can. Start Rads 1st week in June. Got some major swelling in the legs, ankles, feet, and just about all over! Otherwise doing great!
Hey everyone - how are ya doing?!? Praying for all!!
-
Hey Ladies!!!
How is everyone? I hope you all are doing well. I have had 2 tx of taxol and herceptin and so far so good. That benadryl is something else.
Trumpet, what caused the swelling? I assume that since you are starting Rads in June that your chemo is over or almost over. I know you are glad of that and I'm glad for you. You go girl.
Just want to say HEY to everyone send you all good wishes.
-
Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far! Hubby got some grilling out of the way w/the first taste very good!
Yogi - My Onc thinks it was remnants of the chemo - yes my last tx of TC!!!! Hallelujah!!! We tried a water pill 1st (Lasix) for about 2 days which did absolutely nothing. Then we went to the steroid pill (dexemeth...) 1ea, 2x/day which started bring it down almost immediately!! Praise God!! How many more treatments do you have to go? Hang in there - God will see you thru!!!! BTW, my Momma was born in Anniston!
God Bless everyone!!!
-
Hey Trumpet!!
Your mom was born in Anniston huh? Well, who are her people? Do you still have relatives here? Do you all ever get a chance to visit?
I have 10 tx of taxol to go and then rads. I should be finished with chemo a day or two after my birthday which is July 28. Time is passing pretty quick if I say so myself.
God Bless.
-
Hi Trumpet,
Glad your TC is over--Now, (what med is this)??
I was on Taxol in 1999: On my last one, the day after , my hands started swelling, then my face, I took Benadryl, but it did not help; they had to send out Prednisone and it went away in an hour or so--scary!!! Back then, Standard treatment was 4 Treatments of Adramyacin and Cytoxan and 4 Treatments of Taxol--then I had 34 Days of Radiation.
Good luck with Rads--besides being tired, and each person will" fair different"---it was not like Chemo--keep us posted so we know how you are doing.
Take care.

Hi Yogi,
Countdown!! I hope the time goes very fast for you!!
I know you will be glad when this is over.
This is why I like to hear from everyone--I am always curious to hear what Treatments they are being given for this kind of CA , these many years later---and the combinations. Did you have 10 treatments of Herceptin too?? I did not mind Herceptin--the side effects about the Heart had me scared, but I was Blessed to go through it with no side effects..My "Values" never went below 50% so I could always get it. Last year I was on Taxotere and Herceptin.
I believe the Taxotere is much like Taxol, although they did not give all the Pre-meds IV before treatment--I had to take the Steroid Pills before going for Treatment.
Good wishes to you too--hang in there.

Hello everyone,
I hope all of you are fine. I have missed you all very much. I was not feeling well for a while and then I started studying for my "Practice sermon". I have not been on the computer , other than looking up scripture, for a while. I have been thinking about and praying for all of you. I will have to take a day and get caught up later this week.
Hey Linda, Felicia,Trumpet,Yogi,Sabrina,Crystal,AnnNYC and everyone else. God Bless you all my sisters.
Benita
-
Hi Benita,
Glad to hear from you----Hope you are feeling better----Keep them prayers coming.
Your "Practice Sermon" God Bless you

Hi Linda C -- TC = Taxotere & Cytoxan; I had 4 treatments once every three weeks. So so thankful that I made it through! I will have 6 weeks of Rads (5 days a wk); will a boost or so to the auxilla lymph nodes (long story). I have a "golden" complexion as my husband says
so I am not sure how I will fair under the beams. I usually tan very quickly in the sun, so I know it will probably not take too much to get irritation/a burn going. I will keep ya'll posted.
Benita -- Hope you are getting to feel better! Blessings on the Practice Sermon!!!
Hey Yogi -- My Mom's maiden = Beason (82 yrs young!!). I am not sure who is still there; I will have to find out as I have never been down there. She was raised primarily in Tenn. I know it is going to be great to get that chemo wrapped up....hang in there!!!
Please remember & pray for our veterans on this Memorial Day!
I am retired Army & Gulf War Vet
. Hooah!!
God Bless!
-
Trumpet, that name doesn't sound familiar to me but I will ask my Grandmomma about it. You never know. Happy Memorial Day from a fellow Gulf War Vet!!!
Linda, I am also doing Herceptin with the taxol and I have to do a year. My 3rd taxol/herceptin treatment is this wednesday. I am concerned about the effects on the heart also, but I came through adriamycin okay. I did read some where that the effects of adriamycin can occur years later though. But right now I'm alright. My MUGA was good.
Hey Benita!!! Glad to hear from you!!! Thanks for the prayers. I wish you the best on your practice sermon.
Goodnight Ladies, God Bless.
-
Benita! Nice to hear from you, sweetie! I'm sure your practice sermon was fantastic. That is such a great thing to hear...
Thoughts and prayers for all going through chemo and radiation. What's that saying? When you're going through hell, keep going? One foot in front of the other, ladies...
-
Hello everyone! Nice to read that everyone is doing well. I had my last Taxol treatment on my birthday 5/22. The last two tx knocked me off my feet for four-five days straight. My finger/toe nails are so black and they are tender to the touch. I'm glad to be finished though!!! Now I have to wait for the cardiologist to give me the ok to start the Herceptin. I can't wait for my taste to come back....I've lost 10 of the chemo pounds though!!!!
Thank you ladies for having my back. I don't know how I could have gotten through this without you! Love you guys!!!
-
Well first off, Sharon, congrats on finishing chemo! Whoo-Hoo!
And secondly, Happy Belated Birthday!
Have a drink on me, lol
-
Hello ladies, I am so glad to hear everyone is doing fine. I am doing pretty good. Loving the short hair. Finally confident enough to go out of the house without a hat or wig on. I was so used to not having any body hair I was loving it. But now it has grown back. Now back to shaving again.
Sharon happy b-lated Birthday. And congratulations on finishing Taxol. You made it through. My nails are still black but they are not tender. Hip, Hip, Hooray on losing those chemo pounds. But I think I am finding them. Everyday I plan to get out and get moving. Needless to say some days are better than others.
Well I am off to physical therapy.
Felicia, Trumpet, Yogi, Linda and whomever else I have missed stay blessed and take care,
Sabrina
-
YAY SHARON!!!!! YOU GO GIRL!!!! HAPPY BELATED
B'DAY!!! (also my bro BD). Ain't GOD good? Glad to hear about those pounds coming off. YAY. Gives me hope. I hope you get good news from the cardiologist!!!
Trumpet, glad the hair is growing back. The one thing I do like about not having it is not having to shave. My legs are sooo smooth!!!
All you ladies stay blessed and be good to yourselves!!!
-
Sharon Belated Happy Birthday--glad treatment is over for now--CELEBRATE
Yogi--I hope I am not out of place--I have gone to the Health Food Store and read up on Supplements that help some of the side effects of the Chemo and Radiation. I do not know how much one can share on here, and would be hurt deeply to have a comment reported, you ladies are part of my world now and I would not want to jeopardize that. Does anyone know how much you can share?? Anyway I don't know what I would have done without Jesus and Prayers across the nation and the Health Food Store, I am still here.
Felicia--I took the test for BRCA and it was negative--that was good to hear. My daughters are high risks due to me and they are aware of all the checking that they should do, but will not have to take the test.
Trumpet and Yogi--Belated Happy Memorial Day, Thanks for taking care of our Country--that is some heavy duty stuff!!! My Husband is Marines Viet Nam Vet and our daughter is Army Desert Storm Vet. Ya are Special People!!
Shout out Hello to Sabrina!!
Take Care Everyone!!!

-
Hello Ladies,
My computer had to go to the shop for clean up!!!
I have missed all of you--think about you all and ask God to cover each of you at all times!!
I am doing good I think--real good compared to this time last year when I was on Taxotere---and when I think back and look at my journal--wheee I just thought I was moving---my energy level is good considering, and if I can get in my car and go--I am most happy. I am most Thankful to God that things are as well as they are, and hoping this for all of you.
Everyone take care!!

Thanks everyone for the B-Day shout outs!!! I love you ladies! I'm starting to get a little bit of energy back. I've been out in the neighborhood walking. The hair is growing back slowly, but at least it's growing back! My taste buds are still out of whack....meat still tastes horrible. I see my cardiologist 18 June. Hopefully, I'll be able to start Herceptin. I'm having a lot of swelling in my hand on the surgery side. I have to wear my glove constantly...I hate it!
Does any of you ladies get the itches! Goodness...I start itching for no reason at all. If I start scratching, OMG!!! I go into this scratching marathon and no matter how much I scratch the worse it gets. It can start at any time with no warning. Even taking a shower will trigger it. I don't know what to do. Even that doesn't damper my excitement of being finished with Taxol!!!
Anyway enough about me. How are my sisters doing? I hope that your tx are going well. Are any of you going on vacation this summer? Any family reunions this summer? Staying home and relaxing?
Keep your head up and stay positive! Take care of yourselves!
-
Hi, Sharon! Sorry to hear about your swelling and your itching. I had itching, too - rash-producing itches that near about drove me crazy. One doc thought it may have been an additive used in Tamoxifen, although my onc thought I was just imagining it (I fired her idiotic tail, lol) - and I remember how sometimes getting a shower just made it worse. My PCP perscribed a cream called fluocinolone acetonide which was about the only thing that worked. Then one day, the itching stopped as quickly as it came. Talk to your doc about it...
Ah, cancer: the gift that just keeps on giving
