Hi Sharon,
I am sorry to hear about your itching and swelling and hope it leaves real soon.
I have had horrible itching after I get out the shower--I have changed soap 3 times and it does not matter, it has been so bad I have had to take Benadryl--it is more so on my shoulders and forearms--drives me crazy--feels like if it isn't one thing, it is something!! You got it Felicia "the gift that keeps on giving" WHEEE!!
Sharon--so far I guess I am staying home this summer--probably go no further than Kansas City it is about 60 miles East of us--always lot to do there, and we like to go eat and go to the Casinos and shop. The gas prices do make you think twice though.
Wishing everyone a fun and safe summer!!! Rest as needed!!!

Hey Ladies!!!
Sorry about the itching Sharon I know it's driving you crazy. Have you heard any news about herceptin yet?
Hey Felicia, how's it going? What's up Linda?
I wish I could go on a vacation this summer. My mother, aunt, sister and a couple of others are going to Hawaii. I had planned on going but it interfere with radiation treatment and I want to get this mess out of the way. Plus, I probably couldn't enjoy the beach much with the no hair deal and all. But I'm not too down about it. God willing I'll get there one day.

Happy Belated to you Sharon. I too am a May baby (27th). And, I celebrated my birthday with a wonderful NED report for my lst 3-month mamo. Hope you enjoyed your day too.
Time will fly for you now in your treatments. My fingernails finally grew out the darkness...toes still have a way to go. I just pop some polish on and call it a day girl.
I have just about 2inches on top of the head. Looking forward to another inch to pop in.
Take care everyone. Nice to know that this thread is here.
-
Linda C - Yes! I am pretty wiped out today. I have to drive 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours to get to rads and back. Traffic is a killer!! So, rads + traffic = God reminding me I am still here and able to continue the journey
!
-
trumpet,
I like your attitude!!! Hang in there lady!!!

Hi Lee27,
My hair is growing back too--from the Taxotere last year, then I had an episode in Oct. with my WBC was 1.2, I had just started Tykerb and Navalbine and whatever happened, my hair came out again, the little that had grown back, and the wig had to go back on, they said it was from the Navelbine, but I had been on it before and my hair was thin, but it did not come out--who knows--I am on Navelbine Chemo and the Tykerb still, it is the Navelbine that has my hair in soft curls, (this is not my grade of hair) it is the good thing about the med, and I am having fun with the looks I get and folks wondering "what I am" looks rather like Mexican hair--I love it.
Belated Happy Birthday to you--I have a son , he was 31 on May 23rd, he is my Baby
Take care.

Hi all, just came back from my cardiology appt. Bad news! Looks like I won't be starting Herceptin like I thought. My cardiologist said that he doesn't think my heart could take Herceptin and that my onc and I may have to look at other alternatives. I am so heart broken right now........I just want to cry but nothing comes out. How can I choose between a treatment that has shown so much success with Her2+ and making sure this disease doesn't come back to keeping myself from possible heart failure that is sure to happen in the future if I decide to take Herceptin anyway? I just don't know what to do right now!!
I hope everyone else is doing well in their treatments.
Happy belated B-Day to you also Lee27! My toe nails have actually started to come back to life. My hair is growing in nicely also. I don't have as much as you though. It's coming in a pretty medium brown with gray mixed in.
Yogi-Girl the itching is driving me crazy. It doesn't take anything for it to start up. If it's not one thing it's another!
Have a blessed day ladies and keep smiling:>

Hello Sharon68,
I am sorry to hear that you may not be able to start Herceptin, this may not help how you feel right now, as I know you were looking forward to starting it----I have been on many of the meds, and for what ever reasons, some have worked for awhile and then, I still had to go to something else. I was on Herceptin for about 4 years and it was not doing what we wanted it to do, in my case---My Dr took me off and put me on Navelbine and Tykerb. So far so good. I am not for sure of all the meds that are out there for our kind of CA, but I been on a few, if one don't work, I ask what else do you have---Keep your chin up---I believe your Dr will find something. No you don't need a heart failure, with all the meds out there, lets take the challenge of this journey if we must, and I know this is not what you want hear either, But--(and butt stinks)lol
Keep us posted as to how you are doing.
Linda C.
-
Sharon - sorry for the news about Herceptin. I hate this stinkin' disease...
Trumpet - seems you are closing in on the half-way point with rads. It will be over before you know it. Do you ever listen to books on tape during your drive to the rads place? Helped me keep my sanity - and my drive was only 30 minutes, lol...
Linda and Yogi - hoping all is well in your necks of the woods...
Lee - Happy belated birthday! Have a drink on me...
-
Sharon, I'm so sorry that you won't be able to take herceptin. Just know that there are other treatments out there and others on the way for Her2+ we just have to sit tight. (((HUG))).
Hey Ladies, Felicia, Trumpet, Linda, Benita, Lee, Sabrina, Rogam and whoever I may have missed. Keep your head up!!!

Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to check in and say high. Things have been so crazy lately. I am sitting here listening to Marvin Sapp's CD. It is wonderful! I wanted to let you all no that mom is doing well. Her tumor markers continue to drop (GOD IS GOOD!). For those that dont know my mother has stage4 bc with mets to liver and bone. She is getting carboplatin and avastin every third week along with zometa for bones. She has been having pain in her right shoulder and so onc had her go for an mri and xrays well we found out she has a torn rotator cuff and should have surgery but that we can try some cortizone shots for a few months. Mom does not want to have surgery right now, so she is going to try the shots for a while since the pain is not severe all the time.
Well I hope everyone is doing well!
Crystal!
-

All I have to do is try to keep from sweating in this humidity!!

Hi Ladies,
I am new to this site. I was diagnosed 2 months ago and had a left breast lumpectomy on June 20.
I will see the oncologist on July 28th. So far I know that I had grade 3 and that they took 2 sentinal nodes which were negative. My surgeon said that there are no estrogen receptors and that the onc will probably suggest radiation and chemo. I will know more after I see the oncologist.
We currently live in Paris and have 3 children 4, 14, & 17. I just saw this forum and want to join in.
-
Hi, Roya and welcome. You may be our first Parisian, oui!
Good news about your sentinel nodes being negative - hurray! It may seem like a bad thing to have to wait so long to see your onc, but it is kind of a good thing. They don't seem to be in too much of a hurry to start things yesterday, so to speak. Like you said, you'll know a lot more once you see your onc on the 28th...
OMG - you have a 17-yr-old and a 14-yr-old? TWO teens and a pre-schooler?!? Hats off to you!
Don't be a stranger!
-
Hello Roya,
Welcome!! Jump on in, this is a great forum! Let us know whats going on. Do you know your HER2 status?
What is Paris like? I've always wanted to visit.
