too many more to keep typing. I just swapped with women from Switzerland, Netherlands, UK, all over the states, too. Have one swap comming with 18 different niche perfumes to give a try. I sent her about the same number. There must be a million out there.
Anyway, it's a new hobby for me. I've even tried some makeup colors I'd have never looked at---shimmer eyeshadow--doesn't make my lids look crepey like frosted did.
As you can tell, I'm having a good time. Getting rid of stuff I don't want and trying things others don't want and getting some I love.

Beth, about that color glaze. Is it something you can do OVER color? Or is it to be used alone? Curly hair can use all the shine it can find........
Oh, I make very few political statements but one I DO make is to not darken Walmart's doorstep. Maybe I am cutting off my nose to spite my face. Alas.
Dotti, you astound me with the fragrance info! It looks from your list that some of those fragrances are not available in the States??? And some of the others, well, I really have to make my spring trek to a decent shopping center with some power stores. My area has zip.
Time to get off the old butt. I'm charged!!! -
Marin - Beach is summery and light - I have the bronzer, lotion, candle, scrub, and perfume...lol
I wore it on my honeymoon so it reminds me of that

Color glaze works well...I'm actually going to buy one in Sephora by Frederic Fekkai
-
All the ones I listed are available here. I do have a bunch that arn't, tho
What's fun is getting to try them and not pay anything but postage for the little sample sizes.
-
Ain't that the truth - curly hair is not shiny. My long hair used to be very shiny and healthy looking. It was fine and thick. My hair is thick now and I guess somewhat healthy looking, but courser (again, not complaining, but would not mind a bit of shine).
Yeah, I was bummed when I found out that the mascara can only be found at Walmart, as I won't shop there either.
Today, going to get a new blow dryer with a diffuser attached.
-
-
Raye, make sure you try the diffuser before you dry to be sure it doesn't blow your hair around. There is a lot of variability.
-
ah, cripes. So if it blows my hair around, I would have to take it back and get another one. Did I mention I hate to shop (but loves make up and clothes?) - That one T-3? Does it blow your hair around?
-
I used to use the Max Factor pan stick foundation. I might have to start using it again since Cashmere Perfect is no longer in stores. I bought a whole bunch off e-bay and can do that again but if I try the MF again and like it, that will save me some time. Although, the Cashmere Perfect feels so good going on.
-
Go to the MF website and they have a store locator ... lots of other places to shop than Wal-Mart. Around here, CVS, Longs and Alberton's carry it. It even lists a K-Mart but I never go there and would need a map to find it!
-
Thanks Rocktober -
Yep - Walmart is listed first, but also CVS;Marc's (local OH drug store); Giant Eagle (grocery store) and KMart!
-
I have a question about scent/cologne....if I can't find something that smells like lilacs or honeysuckle, I'd like one that smells very clean & fresh, like freshly-cut grass. Does anyone have any recommendations? Dotti? Emelee?

I have used Max Factor PanStick for years and love it! I have a couple from years ago that I probably should throw away. A drag-queen friend of mine from years ago said that the cross-dressers love PanStick too, nothing covers like it does. (Except Dermablend I discovered). Is PanStick still made? I will have to check my local stores. I have always bought Max Factor 2000 calorie mascara but have not looked for Pan Stick lately. Who makes Cashmere Perfect?

Marin, ck out Philosphy Amazing Grace, or any of their "grace" scents. the ones in oil last longer than the EDT.
Bluebell by Penhaligan is a good green fragrance, and I get many compliments on their Violetta, and the men's Aqua de Gio is a good clean fragrance.
If all else fails, and you like lemon, go for the old stand by Jean Nate'. I've worn it since I was 18, and I mean every summer! get the concentrate, not the splash, it lasts better. and the stuff is CHEAP, but doesn't smell that way.
I love YSL, Paris. So soft and sweet, but not loud at all. And Prada Iris is lovely. floris of london, seringa(means lilac) is my absolute favorite. I don't do heavy fragrances, just not my style.
-
Marin..also Sephora carries scents by Demeter - they are small and come in EVERY scent - I have pink lemonade, chocolate chip cookie, and sex on the beach...
Here's the link

There are more in the store...
-
Dotti - Jean Nate! Yes, I used to wear that when I was a teenager. Loved it. I think it may be coming back into fashion - I saw a display yesterday at the drug store.
-
OMG, Jean Nate! How could I have forgotten that one? It is about the freshest scent on the planet.
I hate to say it, but I think Max Factor Pan Stick makeup was the first makeup I used when I started at about the age of 12 and that was many moons ago. LOL Once, a dermatologist asked me how I kept my skin looking so young. I said it was all the pancake makeup I had used in my youth. Every day, without fail. Can you imagine a 13 year old wearing pancake??? Cracks me up now. Of course, we also wore long leg panty girdles. To reign in our "swivel hips."

Raye, the T3 diffuser does not blow my hair around. I hold it right on my dome and dry, but not a long time. BTW, T3 also has a new hand-shaped diffuser that you can insert right into long hair to dry it without disturbing it. I have not tried it so cannot comment on its effectiveness. My diffuser is a regular one.
You girls have me salivating for a new fragrance. I think I am meeting another bc member within a couple of weeks at the Providence Place mall. That should be happy hunting ground for perfumes! (And, oh boy, will be able to make a side trip to Federal Hill for some Italian provisions. Tony's Colonial is my fav traditional Itam market. Venda Ravioli is the next block over, too. Ooooh ooooh, ooooh.)
I have to tell you that the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Rejuvenator is really, really working! No kidding, some small, light discolorations are just fading away. My skin is really not blotchy but there were a few of these troublesome areas. You can hardly see them now. (I've been using the product two or three times a week for over a month, with a brief hiatus while I was in the hospital.) I think it's also helping with some fine lines at the top of my left cheek. For some strange reason, the right cheek is perfect, just the left cheek has those lines. I think maybe they were caused by too many sunlamp treatment for acne when I was a teenager. The things dermatologists did to us then!!!
-
I use the conair dryer. It's silver w. a black big diffuser attachment. When I go out of town I have to pack my dryer, cause the diffuser usually doesn't fit on the one that hotel provides in the bathroom.
I got it at Target.
-
I like the sound of the new T-3 diffuser - is it expensive? I just use my regular dryer w/o the diffuser on low and it only frizzes part of my hair.
You know Tina, I started wearing foundation at about eh, 13 and I swear it kept my skin looking "youngish". Now I don't wear it as much, but I do believe it acted as a protectant against the sun back in the day (I won't say which day or year that may have been!).
I know girls who use the "sunlamp" as treatment for skin now. "it helps with my acne". Perfect excuse to tan, eh? I; however, do not have that excuse.
-
Here's info on the T3 diffuser, regular one that I have. http://www.folica.com/T3_Diffuser_d1931.html and http://www.t3micro.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=71&products_id=195
Nordie's has them, too. I think $30.00
The dryer, itself, is another story. It's about $200 <gulp> but I've seen them online for down to $130.00 I'm thinking my dryer is the Featherweight. It is pretty lightweight.
Just discovered the hand shaped diffuser is not by T3, it's by Deva. Mixed reviews on that.
-
Lauralynne, yes they still make pan stick. It's on their website, so I will go look for it.
The Cashmere Perfect was by L'Oreal but it's discontinued.
-
Burnsie is great - I have a dear friend who calls me that!
Also, I'm in this type of mood today: Below is a wonderful poem Audrey Hepburn wrote when asked to share her "beauty tips." It was read at her funeral years later.
For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
No wonder she was so beautiful! God, to look like her! -
Burnsie....I love that and had forgotten that they were Audrey Hepburn's words. I've always loved her and when I was younger, wanted to look like her.
So y'all, I decided to go on a little shopping spree this evening because I've been really good about not spending AND I have a second date with this very hot guy tomorrow and I want to look my best. I found the cutest blue top and, of course, had to buy matching lingerie
. Then I decided to pick a scent and go with it.....makes me feel like I'm beginning a new chapter in my life. So I tried several that you recommended and a few I saw along the way. The Demeters that Emelee mentioned are totally amazing! Sephora had discontinued them, though I got to test Amazing Grace (Philosophy) there and loved it. But I found them at Ulta and had a bit of a hard time deciding among Honeysuckle, Wet Garden (OMG, I love that!) and Sex On The Beach. Sex won out (of course it did!), but I'm definitely buying Wet Garden another time. I also liked the one called Laundromat....it really smells like one, but I sure don't want to smell that way for my date. It would be better for pillow-spraying, I'd think, or laundry day. And then, I couldn't get out of Ulta without buying a gorgeous light gold MAC eyeshadow and, having spent enough, I got the cutest tote bag thrown in with the purchase. Also bought some new shampoo (natural, with no parabens and no animal products or testing) for color-treated hair and some more wax (trying the Nair microwaveable wax). So I'm ready to launch and psyched for my date. I hope he's not psycho like the others have turned out to be....

Oh, what a fun day!!!
-
Good lucK!!!
I'm excited you found the Demeters..I love them - they can wear off though so carry it in your purse.
I am pissed at Sephora for discontinuing wonderful items....they took Bourjois away too..and St. Tropez - although I wonder if it's satellite Sephora's and the bigger ones have them...
-
So I just got back from an afternoon party, and got a lot of comments omn the max factor mascara. I definitely want to get it in another color.
I really think I'm gonna bite the bullet and make a hair appt for next week to color my hair. I had it in these cute pigtail braids today (we were outside at a beer garden thing- very casual) and you could really see the silvers at the crown of my head.
I think I'm gonna go a little darker brown.
-
You can buy Demeters online....
http://www.sephora.com/browse/brand_hierarchy.jhtml?brandId=Demeter
I shopped on ebay and got some more Photo Finish ... saved about 1/2 the cost! I bid $19 and won!
-
Marin: Here is a prayer to the date god (or is it goddess) for a fabulous time for you! Good luck!
-
Rocktobermom-
Thank you. I did see the Pan Stick on the Max Factor website. I will check my local Ulta first. Maybe I can get it there (using one of their $3.50 off any $10 purchase coupons). My face always looks so smooth when I used the Pan Stick...but that was 20 years ago! I will give it another try.
Marin-
Sex-on-the-Beach! Love it. One of my radiation techs used to spray that on after she had lunch and when she leaned in close to align my tatoos every day I could smell it and it smelled so good. They have more "flavors" than any company I have ever seen. When I bought my bottle of "Sex" they had a promotion going at Ulta and I got as a gift a "Sex" mini-candle in a tin. Ohhhh so cute. I use that fragrance so much in the summertime. Wish it would last a bit longer though.

Oh girls, I had the most awesome time on my date, largely because I knew I looked great! The outfit was perfect and made my body look as though I'm 19 years old! I just had my hair done this week and it came out a creamy caramel color and very full of body and manageable. So I curled it into large, tousled curls (hot rollers) and used 2 little clips at the top-sides to pull a few whisps messily back. I didn't recognize myself, I tell ya! Then I applied every single makeup product and tip I've learned about here and my face then looked like I was....well, not 19, but definitely maybe (?) mid-30s or so. Yessssss! Topped it all off with some Sex on the Beach and felt like I was steppin' outta Glamour mag, y'all!
So I don't plan to change a thing about my beauty routine unless we discover something irresistible. Though I am becoming due for another syringe of Restalyne in my laugh lines and some more tanning before I'll go public in a swimsuit!
