Liz, the afghan is beautiful.......
My DH just cleared my camera of old pictures so I can take a pic of the afgan finished last weekend.
Vickie, I'll send you a name when I am home this evening. The names are stored in my home computer. I think about you every day.
I am still trying to collect "masculine colors" for a soldier going through cancer treatment at Walter Reed. I have about 1/2 of the necessary squares.......
Thank you all........
Madison

Okay, I am new here. Can I play? What are the rules? I have tons of yarn and can knit but am not fond of crochet.
Size of squares? Colors? Where to send?
-
Tina,
Picture me jumping up and down with joy.
I love when someone joins our afghan group.
You can definitely knit the squares. I think the contrast between crochet, knit and knifty knitter gives each afghan a unique look.
The squares are really a 7x9 rectangle. Any color........just please make sure the yarn is washable. We always wash and dry the afghan before mailing (this is also a test to see if those I construct "hold together"
)
.
This is a good link for 7x9 squares:

Thank you so very much

Liz---That afghan is absolutely beautiful. Thanks so much for your hard work.
I had my latissimus flap surgery and I am home recovering. I am able to crochet the squares!!! I'm so excited. They will need bordering. Who should I mail them to????? Please let me know.
Thanks, Jackie

madison - some brown/cream/dusty blue squares on their way that might be appropriate for a guy's hugaghan ...
-
Madison, I have a new pound of dark green (Caron's Leaf Green), I will send those to you separately with some beige ones. Will work up as many this weekend as I can. MB will get the rest of them. I think of our soldiers a lot too. My sister works at Walter Reed as a physical therapist.
-
Glad to see the group growing!!
I'm ashamed that I haven't been 'producing' for awhile........as I truly enjoy doing it.................just wishing I could teach myself to crochet.........and that 'ain't happening'!!!!!!!!!!
So Knifty Knitter it is for this girl! Bev.........I love the KK and have mastered 3 or 4 different stitches..........just can't figure out how to border them for our ladies.
Madison.......that is so great of you to be making hugaghans for some of the vets in need.........I'll try to get some 'manly' colors to you soon.
Liz: That is a beauty! You sure picked up on it fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vickie............So glad to see you are here! I will start working on squares and get some to you........but they won't be bordered..sorry!
Hugs,
Neesie

My Air Force daughter's friend, Lisa, has bone cancer and is going through treatment. Lisa is also in the Air Force. Lisa was asked out on a date this past weekend............the first date since she was diagnosed with cancer. My daughter was crying with happiness when she told me about the date.
Please keep Lisa in your prayers. Her bone cancer is very aggressive. The tumor in her knee was growing on the first chemo they tried. After months of treatment, they have switched chemos. She is in a wheelchair because the tumor in her knee is so large...she has lost 35 pounds....she has lost her hair.........BUT she is still BEAUTIFUL. She went on a date....how awesome and wonderful!!!
Hugs, Madison -

Madison what a sweet, sad story. I pray that her chemo works and she can go on and live a full and happy life. What a wonderful man she must have found...someone with a big heart by the sounds of it.
It sounds like you are getting plenty of "manly" squares...I have a bunch of squares that are also more of a man's color scheme and have plenty of yarn in those colors (made Nate a camo afghan) so if we need another for a man I will have enough to do one...just let me know.
hugs...

The latest afghan is beautiful! I love the colors and placement also.I am interested in the argyle type yarns. hope someone can tell me what they are. I love working with the textured and odd type yarns, have you noticed Madison? LOL
I think it is lovely you have made an afghan for your Air Force friend, Madison. She needs the special hugs now and hopefully she got lots of sweet hugs on her date.
I have a few squares ready but should make some more. I got busy working in the yard and just working. Now I have poison Ivy so will avoid anything that looks like a plant for a while. So last night I picked up my needles and made a fun fuzzy and knotty square. -
Jacqui,
I absolutely love all the different texture of the yarn.........the patterns........the colors. I was bordering a "Fuzzy" this morning.
I must admit it is difficult to begin an afghan..........there are so many great squares and I have to pick one square to be THE FIRST!!!
I made Lisa's afghan based on the Prayer Shawl pattern. Her mother is staying with her (and very worried) so I started an afghan for her Mom. It is a pretty pattern that I have made once before. Lisa spends one week a month in the hospital taking chemo. I want her mom to also have warmth wrapped around her. -
I agree with Madison - beginning is so very hard. I put this one together 4 times before I stopped. I love all the yarn, squares and hugs that go into each square. Thank you all.
This one will go out sometime in the next week.
-
Liz, I love it!!!
-
-
Wonderful as always Madison. Love all the different squares!

So Precious.....

Hi All !!!!!!
Have been meaning to write an entry here for a while. I am a regular in the chat rooms, and wanted to let you know that we started a small group of knitter/crocheters there to make afghans for fellow chatters in need of hugs. We hope you don't feel like we are stepping on your toes by doing this also. It was such a great idea, and some of the chatters never come to the boards so just thought it might be nice to send them afghans made by people they know, other chatters, with a little different twist.
We will never be able to compete with you girls though, we have only completed one so far, not that it is a competition, everyone needs love. Wow you have made so many beautiful afghans.
Again, I hope we haven't offended anyone by starting our own project.
Love ,
Julie -
julie ... the more the merrier ... or is that the huggier ... lots of people need hugs ...
-
Madison - My thoughts are with your daughter's friend...I hope she will be okay. That was so nice of you! Thanks so much for your continuing efforts...your latest is gorgeous!
Michelle - That's great you got one! Best wishes to you...
Liz - Can't wait for the next recipient to "answer the door". Thanks so much...you have a heart of gold. Your latest is a masterpiece...a work of heart.
Julie - It's awesome that you have started an afghan group. Best wishes to all of you in the chat dept. Say hi to Mazy (my Illinois sister).
-
Madison & Liz,
The latest hugagans are just beautiful. Thanks for all your hard work.
I have lots of squares.....any takers? Please let me know.
Hugs, Jackie
-
I know Vickie said she needed squares.
I have enough to make the afghan I started last week.....but will need more squares to complete any additional afghans.
Hugs and thanks, Madison -
Another beautiful Hugahan Madison. I think I even saw one of my squares but I forget what i have made.
I love the SHAWLS TOO. I have made a couple for friends. One I made with some odd yarns and ribbons. It reminded me of Sunflower fields. Sometimes I need the diversion of something else to knit so I like shawls. Some are quick and easy, just my speed. So if you know anyone that a shawl would be good for, I can send some of those too. With summer, sometimes just a hug over the shoulders may feel good in AC.
Let me know. Hopefully have some more squares this week.
Smiles.. -
So much talent and love! Those hugaghans are beautiful Liz and Dee!!!!
Jacqui.......I bet the shawls are lovely also..........! If I can figure out how to read a pattern, I might be able to do that with the Knifty Knitter!!
Hugs,
Neesie
-
Thank you Liz...I got your squares today so I am back in business...still struggling to finish the two I have going but hope to have them done by weeks end!
Love and hugs all

YVW kiddo.......

Liz, Madison, the latest two are just beautiful.
Liz, I had to smile as I think I saw some of the squares I sent to you. Made me feel good that I had finally contributed something. I have also learned the double crochet stitch now - well, at least I think I have it right.
Think some of you may be checking some of my work at Pinkstock. I did look at the yarn that MB and Liz, you were talking about - the fuzzy kind that is so pretty. I tried to picture crocheting with it and figured I could never do it so got some plain yarn; sounds like I made the right decision.
Everyone, your work is just beautiful and thanks to Madison, Vickie, Liz and now MB (that right) for putting these together. Madison, I know that Lisa's mom will find much comfort having the afghan knowing that it came from women who understand all that Lisa is facing, enduring and her mother too.

Brenda, I will have to show you the chemo wiggies I crochet out of the fuzzy yarn. It was challenging at first to use the fuzzy yarn but I love it. but not the FunFetti yarn, that is 2 yarns together and the 2nd yarn is bumpy and doesn't crochet easy. If anyone wants the FunFetti yarn to knit, I got some for $1.00 a skein at the Dollar Tree, thinking it would make good chemo wiggies, send me a PM with your address, I think I have 6 or 8 skeins.
