Sphynx, thankyou for the welcome. you are correct about how addictive this sight is. I find it a pleasure to talk with people who are real, no BS.
take care

Hi ALL,
I got my race/walk packet today. I am #58 - my DS football jersey # from high school - I feel special. T-shirts are basically the same as last year.
Nancy - Ok looks like I need to map quest Noodle & Co. - are you sure that's the name of the place and your not calling me a noodle?!
Chris - Do we have the same lighthouse pix just different angle? Sorry didn't mean to copy - I wanted to use a image from photobucket but haven't figured out how to use as my avatar so I used picture from camera instead. I'll keep working on avatar.
Mary - I agree I think Foote has made improvements over the years. I could of had my radiation treatments there but opted for UM since I had my surgeries there and I was comfortable w/ the staff. It was over an hour drive each way for me but it was worth it.
Hope the rest of your treatment time flies by - take care.

Hi Sphynx, Linda, everybody!
It has been forever since I posted. My knee replacement surgery went very well and though I still walk like Frankenstein's monster without the cane, I can now walk the dog with a cane. I'm doing P.T. and getting stronger.
I also have a new grandson who is 3 weeks old today. He was 10 lbs., 10.7 oz. and 22 1/2 inches long. His arrival has sent his brother into the terrible twos, so I'm trying to hlp my daughter. I'm glad to see you all still posting. Did I get it right that you are having a get-together in Ann Arbor on May 4? I have a shower to go to that day north of Rochester Hills, so if it is that day, I can't make it. If I'm wrong about the date, I probably could.
Linda, I missed the B.C. support group meeting in Plainwell again. I was very excited about going (since I moved to Kalamazoo I seem to get excited about any small thing that happens), but got terrible diarrhea and couldn't leave the house. The dr. is treating it as C-Diff so I'm mobile again. When is the Kalamazoo B.C. event? I know I can't walk 5k yet. Is there any other way to participate? Can we get together for lunch some day when you are not traveling for business?

Hi Ann, nice to meet you. I wish you the best of luck with your knee replacement surgery. I had extensive arthoscopic surgery on my knee in September. I thought I might have to go with a replacement until just a couple of months ago when I really noticed I was going to be okay; at least for a while.
Also congratulations on your grandson. I know how exciting that is. I have 3 grandkids ages 3 yrs, 2 yrs. and 8 months. I figure the reason I'm going through this chemo is for them. They make everything worthwhile and give me the strength I need. Enjoy them while they're young. Mary

Wing girl...is your lighthouse ...Sturgeon Point on Lake Huron??? I am so excited if that is it. This is the nearest lighthouse to my folk's place on Lake Huron. Last Spring, we took our future son-in-law there...he has sailed the lakes many times but had actually only been in one other lighthouse. Funny..he knew the code...even though he had never set foot in that lighthouse before. And so...the sailors still use the lighthouses.!!!
-
Chris - No my lighthouse is Point Iroquois on Lake Superior. You can't tell from my avatar but I climbed up to the top of the lighthouse and you can see me in the window. Your future sil knowing the code - funny. We have been to so many lighthouses around MI I can't remember if we have been to Sturgeon Point - will check w/ DH or look through my pictures.
Ladies - Are we still having lunch on May 5? I have my map - just need a time? Hope to see lots of you there.

Hi Y'all!
Judy, any news? Thinking about you and your family.
Lori Anne - Can you meet us on the 5th?
Anna - it's not the 4th but the 5th - can you join us? So nice to hear from you and with good news to. You had one bumpy ride. I want a few grandbabies!
I'm going to try to meet both North and South if that is what you guys are doing. Neesie told me that sounds "kinky". Get your mind out of the gutter girl! If it is Noodles & Company around Ypsi/Ann Arbor, I'll attach a map. One year I attached a map of California. That kept you all on your toes. Kay caught that one. So, anyone hear from Kay?

http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result.php?q1=3601+Washtenaw%2C+Ypsilanti%2C+miNot-Me - Weddings are always so nice. Take pictures. What are the odds that both you and Wings are into lighthouses and Mary and Mr. Not are from the same area? It is a small world. Has Wings heard about how you stay at the lighthouses?
Mary - almost done? How are you feeling?
Oh Wings - I see you already have your map. Are we meeting at noon? Faith - sound right?
I just ran across this post about someone getting the wrong meds more than once. Upon further reading, the person is in MIchigan! I'm wondering which hospital? There is just no excuse for something like that to happen.
http://community.breastcancer.org/topic/8/conversation/704756?page=1#idx_2
Editted: Trying to fix the link above. The post is by looking4answers under Recurrence and Metastatic Disease. Subject line - Neupogen vs Leukine (big FUBAR).
Kitkat - is your name from the candy or are you a cat person? I guess I'm both. How are you doing? Yep, I think us Michiganders are one great group and I always look forward to getting together with everyone. I used to be shy in my pre-bc life but I always feel connected to you guys.
Irene joined the team! yeeha! We need to round up some more people. Time is running out quickly. Early May 13th is the last day to join the team. I'll try to post around about it later. Some people are doing alot of fundraising. I got a donation from my SIL and BIL but when I posted it for them (in memory of my MIL), it just came up as my donation. Why the heck does it do that?
Ok, I have a "Wings of Hope" story. I was reading the Ann Arbor news about a couple who are both pilots and fly Guatemalen people to the States for medical care. They live down there most of the time and come back here to work in the computer industry. What made me keep reading was I recognized the man's name and think he works at the same Company as myself. I kept reading and see that the call their organization "Wings of Hope".
Speaking of "Wings of Hope" - How is kats? Has she been online some place that I missed?
If I don't get a chance to post on the other topics - someone else please do talk up our Komen team! Are we going to have the shorts Vs. long pants discussion again? You know what I will be wearing. Not Me - are you running this year? Are we wearing our boppers from last year? I'm not talented like kats so the newbies will have to make their own! I just realized that this post is a million questions. Hope all is well with everyone. Can't wait to catch up on the 5th and the Race. Can I assume we are doing Hockey Town again? I think I need to make reservations.

Nancy -
Hey Friends!!
Of course we all know you are wearing SHORTS Nancy!!
My puter has been down for 4 or 5 days and I'm wayyyyyyyyyy lost on people....Just saying hi and going to back up and see what I've missed!
Hugs,
Denise
No, I have not heard anything from Kay..............she lives by me, but I don't know if I have her address.................I might have to find my Dick Tracy outfit and go hunting for her!
-
Hi all
Hey Chris, good to hear from you. And you too, (lucky)Anna! Congrats on the new grandbaby!
Thanks again for all the prayers and good wishes. We haven't heard any results for her test yet. We are most likely going to switch doctors and possibly hospitals as well; I like UofM hospital, but they don't seem to be in any hurry to find what is wrong with her. Might try Beaumont.
Chris, we would love to go to the Mayo Clinic, but our insurance doesn't let us go out of MI. Do you mind if I ask what your hubby's diagnosis was, since it sounds so similar to what Julia is going through?
Ah, I remember the last walk I participated in. We lost our car, and I ended up walking another mile to find it! My legs were sore for days!
Judy B.
-
Hi Judy - Glad that test is over and hoping for the best news. It sounds like you have a plan and will get some answers soon for Julia.
I remember that walk you and we got to meet you DH.
Take care,

Hey ladies!
Judy......wishing you the best with your Daughter. I do hope you get some answers very soon.
Guess What????????? I'm not weaving baskets on the 5th!! I finally asked my DD today and she said she forgot to tell me that the class was full...SOOOO looks like I can join you all on the 5th.!
Fill me in on details, okay? Wings.....I'm sending you a pm....
Well............Nancy accused me of having my 'head in the gutter'.....however......she is the one that is sending me 'south' for some 'noodles'...........I'm just saying!!!! And when I tried to bring it up on the computer............Firefox prevented it from opening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(sorry to any who don't know my sense of humor)...............gonna check out the mapquest and see if it's someplace this somewhat 'directionally challenged' person can find!
See you all Monday! By the way.......who is going?

Judy-He had a strange disease...he couldn't keep anything down. It lasted for a few years and he went from a 220# rock solid guy down to about 158#. It was bad. He treated locally and then went to UM, the Mayo Clinic, and the Cleveland Clinic. My family thought that he had Aids and that we didn't want to tell anyone. He quit his job (at the plastics company) and went to work for a friend. He stopped getting sick and put weight back on. We never did find out what it was...but ironically, that plastics place is the same place that I worked at when the orignal C cell started. And guess what...5 of us ladies that worked in the front office had a BC dx since. There were only about 20 of us that worked in the office!!! Anyway, part of our problem with tx was a HMO we had at the time. We could only get approval for one specialist visit at a time...which made Mayo and Cleveland very expensive for us. Keep us posted...we will continue to pray for her.
I might be up for the lunch or dinner on Monday but am still tying to get my schedule together. Where and when is the dinner in the north?
I am looking forward to the walk. I am loving spring...I even planted some annuals last night...the nursery told me which ones are okay to plant now.
Have a good day!
-
HOLY MOLEY..... this trip is right around the corner!! I must be outta my mind thinking I can pull this one together. Seeing each of you is the motivation to figure out what is gonna be necessary to make this work.
nEEsie: I'll PM you my cell phone number. I'm still hoping to get away by 8:00 a.m. (crazy optomism) and hopefully be to Ann Arbor Noodles & Co by noon or 12:30.
Has anyone got a northern dinner plan orchestrated? will continue to check here in between swaddling and burping. Oh what fun!!!!! Can't wait to see/meet everyone. Thanks so much for arranging your lives around mine.

Nancy, I would have loved to meet you all in Ann Arbor on the 5th, but I just found out that I have to go to Detroit for a funeral some time next week. I can't afford the gas for 2 trips. I found gas for $3.69 this a.m. and was overjoyed to get such a bargair! I hate the way the price of gas is keeping me from seeing friends and family!

Anna Anna Anna Anna - Sorry about the funeral. We will miss you. You can always take the trolley at the Komen Race but I know, there is still some walking involved from your car. It's pretty #$!@ bad when $3.69 a gallon for gas is a bargain! This is crazy.
I do not know why so many posts on this board are duplicates. Time to get those bugs ironed out on this site.
Di - Love the picture! Nice wig.
Not Me - It amazes me that 5 women diagnosed with BC at the plastics company and your DH was so ill. How many more have problems that you will never hear about? And of course, like my own case of 3 out of 5 of us that I know of - who worked next door to Pal-Gelman had BC, they still say that it is "not statistically significant"! I've never been able to find out how many women who actually worked at Gelman had BC.
About meeting on MONDAY, are you still meeting North? Are we set for 12 or 12:30 ish at Noodles & Company in Arborland - for us Southerners?
So, I see that Kay is on another board and read her latest posts. She just found out in March that she has mets. I imagine she didn't check in so we don't freak out. I'm sure she could use our support. Let's think of what we can do for her and talk about it offline or when we meet.

Hi to all..................have my Comcast connection back for the time being.....what a pain.......and out here in no mans land that is all we can get.
Nancy.......looks like my pm to you finally went through.............
I have written a pm to Kay.........I found her sad news on "No Surrenders" site...........this is so unfair, but I do know she has the ability to Fight and Win.
How many and who of you are meeting in Ann Arbor Monday and is anybody meeting further North..(Brighton/Fenton)? Let me know so I can start plotting and planning with MapQuest now.........!!
Hugs,
Denise
-
Hey Girls............
Where is everyone??????????? Waiting to hear what's up for Monday!
Okay Friends.......I received an email from Kay (Fancy)........I've asked her if she minds if I share with you...........and even though I'm sure she wouldn't mind, I'll keep it short until I hear back from her.
She is having a VERY rough time.......on top of her DX, It will be a year this Tuesday since she lost her husband.
I think she could use some MI support and cheer...............pm me and I'll share some of my thoughts.
Hugs,
Denise (Neesie)
-
nEEsie: Ann Arbor Noodles & Co between 12:00 and 12:30..........
I'll call ya from the road.
Have you got any suggestions for dinner/Flint?
Anyone and everyone who is available is the MOST welcome to join us.
-
I will be there! can't wait to see you all!
S
-
Noodles it is!!!!!!! Hope I can find it.............! I don't know if any of the Northern girls are planning on getting together or not.........I was thinking of doing the North dinner.....but think I'll just head to Ann Arbor..........See you all then!
Hugs,
Neesie
-
By Gosh..............just visited MapQuest and I think I can do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Neesie
-
I'll be there. I'll wait for Neesie's call and meet you there.
I hope I didn't blab too much about Kay but since she wrote on the other forum I figured she needed our help. Please keep us posted neesie and I'll send you a pm to get some ideas to help her through this.
Is the Northern dinner fizzling out? Irene and Not Me were thinking of going but Pat is out squeezing grandbabies. Di said it sounds promising but I'm sure she will play it by ear since she is going through treatment. Geri hasn't checked-in yet.
Candi may join the South group (I think) but I'll talk to her through email. Linda - are you joining us South? Wings hasn't checked-in for a few days but I'm pretty sure she is coming. Wings? Susie, is Maureen joining us? Is she online? If the North group doesn't meet I may swing a long lunch and work late.
See ya soon!
Nancy
-
Oh No, Nancy........you didn't blab about Kay...............I didn't mean it that way.........she had posted on another site and it isn't a secret.........just thought I'd wait until I heard more from her.......and I have.
I'm sure she wouldn't mind me sharing............as she does need help.
Fancy has Scattered Bone Mets......Ribs, Shoulder and Hips with a scattering on the Liver. She also has a line of Melanoma on her belly. She has entered a Clinical study I believe in Illinois...........
Her biggest concern right now is that she does not have the energy to care for her horses.....Carrying feed to the barn...some yard work and etc. Not on a daily basis......but help is needed.
I will call her soon and see what I can do to help.............DH might help with the feed......And thinking maybe we can pull a day where some of us can go over and help her with her yard and such.
I'm sure Wings is going Monday....she is busy today at her DD's Graduation from U of M!!
Faith says between 12 and 12:30p....................Do we need reservations????
Hugs,
Denise
-
I am way too far away to go to help Kay with her horses. Is there anything you can think of that I could possibly do to help her or at least let her know that she she is on my mind.
