He says he might change his mind.
Rosemary--regarding Carter between the UK Telagraph interview and this interview by him:
"We are very interested in the primaries. Don’t forget that Obama won in my state of Georgia. My town, which is home to 625 people, is for Obama, my children and their spouses are pro-Obama. My grandchildren are also pro-Obama. As a superdelegate, I would not disclose who I am rooting for but I leave you to make that guess. "
------------------------------
Is that not plain enough?
Let me tell you --the moment this guy comes out for Obama--
The Jewish vote??? Albeit its a small one nationwide but, those little old Jewish ladies in Florida would be as likely to vote for Obama as they wanted to vote for Buchanan.---Like Florida won't be problematic enough for the Democrats.
-
Shokk--Apparently they did not choose to muzzle Morris---
His comment "The Primary is over"
-
Am I the only one who heard, coming from O'Reilly last night, that there is something swirling around about Obama that is yet to come out? What's left? I'll see if he repeats it tonight. It could be his way of getting up those ratings. Just for the sake of how it would frost ole Morris, I would love to see her win North Carolina, and watch his jaw drop.
-
I watch fox a lot...
I'm tell you. Just like they tell you. The candidates need to go on Fox. I think O'Reilly was fair to Hillary. I think he's been more than fair to Obama. Now Hannity would give them a fit. But Colmes is there to take over. I even heard Bob Beckel (sp) today say that the dems needed to go on Fox and he's one of their dem strategist.
-
Did anyone hear that Jeremiah Wright has had his invitation withdrawn to speak at Northwestern Universtiy? I heard that on CNN. Later on Fox.
-
I was just thinking about something. NO, REALLY, I WAS!!
McCain and Hillary are both for giving us a vacation from the gas tax. I just got something in my email that MADE ME THINK! We don't use that much gasoline. However, when we make a trip to our daughter's house in Charlotte it costs a pretty penny. Our car only gets 19 miles to the gallon. Yes, we should buy a different car. Anyway, to make this trip it takes a tank of gas going up and a tank of gas coming back. Our tank holds 18 gallons. So, out of those 36 gallons I'm not sure exactly what we use since we don't let it go past the empty mark which is not really empty..don't want to find out what empty is..LOL We're making a trip next weekend and then a month after that. And, we're going to Duke in between for my mammo. I can't remember when they wanted to start the "tax relief." I think it would help those who are going on vacation. Just got that thought in my head. And, I'm sure we'll make more trips before the "tax relief" ends IF we even get it.

Obama and his wife were very involved with Wright. He married them and baptized all of their children.
Am I crazy? Why are people not getting it. After the Wright thing I thought for sure, it would be the end for him - and I do believe there is alot more out there about him that we just dont know yet.
Amy: If your reading this I hope your ok. I dont get to read or post much anymore. I hope your were not banned.
Nicki
-
Nicki,
No, you're not crazy. The Obama story about Wright simply doesn't add up. He & his wife sat in the pews for almost 20 years. Wright was his spiritual advisor (although now Obama's denying that???). If you read Michelle Obama's thesis (I did) and read or hear some of what she's said, it's clear that she has a affinity for Wright's position on things (which is not to say that she agrees with everything he says, but.....).
The media and many of the powers-that-be within the Democratic party bought the Obama story and now they have no graceful way to step away from it. So they continue to defend it, they continue to support Obama and they continue to call for Clinton to leave the race so that Obama can be declared the nominee and then this whole mess will be over. Oh, except for that little issue of the general election in November.
By the way, I thought that Clinton was phenomenal in her interview with Bill O'Reilly. Honest, open, composed, incredibly knowledgeable, sharp... Even Obama's supporters and those who like her the least have said that she was impressive. She is someone who would represent the U.S. well to the rest of the world. Pity that it's unlikely to happen.
-
((((Nicki)))) jeez so sorry to read about your fall yesterday and the broken foot........you're right thank goodness it is the left foot and you can still drive.......I imagine that you may stay home for the next two days but will be back to work by Monday.......you won't be able to stand it........you warned us about Obama months ago.....right?.......you said he had done nothing for IL while a state senator and given the fact that you are Democrat this is really nothing about being loyal to your party......just your observation.....Cherryl really hasn't said much either even though I think she might be leaning toward Hillary just not sure........more stuff will be coming out......Obama is going to have to be so careful about what he says because if he angers Wright more Wright will be back on TV..........it's almost like open blackmail.........I am sure that if Obama ends up with the nomination there is always the October surprise that the Republicans will be holding onto just before the election.......we will all have to wait and see......looking forward to Tuesday........Hillary just might end up with both NC and Indiana.............Nicki get some rest.........see you tomorrow.......love Shokk
-
Hello,
Hi Shokk, haven't been around much this week. I'm leaving tomorrow morning for NC for the weekend - 40th high school reunion. I'll do my own poll on Tuesday's primary. See you all Sunday night. Oh, yeah, right now I'm for Hillary, although I continue to pray that John Edwards some how gets back into the race. Yeah, Cherryl of the Lost Causes!!!!
-
(((((Cherryl))))) have a great time at your 40th? reunion......(don't believe it)..........remember you're not invisible anymore and your beautiful damn it.........
........what is it with you Edwards people?.......anyway see you Sunday.........be careful.............love Shokk

Shirley--re the gas tax relief...can't quote the article I read because I don't remember specific details like that...but, read an article in our local paper that the gas tax relief plan will save the average consumer about $30 over the "vacation season". BUT, the overall taxes that go into the infrastructure will amount to millions of dollars that won't be available to fix the pot-holes in your roads, hi-way maintenance, bridge repair......how to believe anything we read about or hear about???
huggssss
-
Yep, Junie, I have heard the same thing. What we need right now is NO MORE GAS HIKES!
Shirley

Don't ya just love it---Guam's Caucus will mean more in this election than the votes in Florida and Michigan.

I've been in bed now for two days (with cold/fever) with nothing much to do aside from think about this year's election and, in particular, the Democratic primary and Obamanation. I've been very puzzled by the unusual support of Barack Obama, a one-year U.S. Senator, with no apparent credentials for being elected U.S. president (much like George Bush, eight years ago, but on paper even less qualified). I've decided it has to be a form of collective hysteria. There are lots of examples in history of such hysteria (some I won't mention as they're too recent and disturbing) but the Salem witch trials is an example and one which most of us know about.
British historian Mike Dash notes that studies have identified six elements that are required for a case of mass hysteria to afflict a population:
- "Regional conditions must be conducive" to the mass hysteria's plausibility.
- "Channels of communication must be available for the reports to spread."
- "Social and economic stress, as well as a lack of faith in the authorities, predispose people to embrace unconventional interpretations."
- "[E]very culture has marginal traditions that offer alternative explanations."
- "A triggering episode often serves as the pebble that commences an avalanche of reports."
With respect to the first and third, ecnomic conditions, the war, a lack of faith in government are partly responsible. A few days ago, I was watching a program where students in Indiana were being interviewed about their choices in the Democratic primary--apparently they are split down the middle. One, a girl of about 20, was for Hillary and when asked why, said that she liked her educational policies, particularly her policy on student loans, and that she also liked what she was proposing with respect to the environment. Another, a boy also about 20, like Obama. When asked why, he said he wanted "change" and non-partisan politics. But in the latter case, he gave no specifics. It seems the word "change" is the main ingredient for those who favor Obama, yet they can give no examples of just what change will mean, beyond non-partisan politics. Yet, we know from Obama's time in the Senate, that he actually worked less well with Republicans than Clinton. The second is supported by the media bias towards Obama that is particularly apparent on the cable channels, with MSNBC leading the pack. It's interesting to note that some NBC journalists, in the beginning, seemed to be holding back but as time has gone on, they have all joined in Obama mania. I haven't quite figured out the initial bias, although I think it's partly gender-based, partly a dislike of the Clinton's, and I suspect partly pushed by the owners of MSNBC. I think, also, that once the media decided that wine drinking, cheese eating, educated Democrats were for Obama, that a large number of Democrats to prove their credentials voted for Obama. The same is true for blue-collar workers. Once they were told they didn't like Obama, they didn't. Sad, but a good many people are unable to think for themselves.
I can't come up with examples of three and four, other than in the opposite direction. Now that Reverend Wright is all over the TV, we are seeing an example of five, with Obama starting to lose traction. What is very disturbing to me is that I believe a large number of people who put their reputations on the line for Obama are now so far in they can't withdraw. I fear that the Democrats will go all the way to the general election rather than admit they were wrong and we (the Democrats and I fear the nation) will lose in November. An example of the latter is Caroline Kennedy appearing with Michele Obama to quiet the Wright controversy. What, in heaven's name, is Caroline Kennedy dong with a woman she didn't know until she was persuaded by her children to endorse Obama. It really is freightening!
-
Anneshirley, it is very scary.
You probably do not like or watch Fox News. As you may know O'Reilly interviewed Hillary. They BOTH did a great job. I'm not in her camp, but I'd much rather she be president than Obama.
I only watched a snippet of the interview with M. Obama and C. Kennedy. My first thought about here sitting there with Michelle was, do you know that these people are for abortion and also the killing of live babies being born? I have not done enough reading on this, but I'm not sure if Obama was for Partial Birth Abortion. You are pro-choice, but can you see where I'm coming from. Like you, when I heard about Caroline's kids getting all excited about Obama and telling her to endorse him I thought, WTH!
Hannity went on the streets to ask people why they supported Obama. He was young, change, refreshing or whatever.
What can we say. I don't think that Hillary can take N.C.
Shirley
-
Last year, my dad told me that if it came down to Obama and a white guy, he was voting for Obama. If it came down to Hillary and a white guy, he was voting for Hillary.
I asked him why he wasn't getting into the politics of it all? He said he wants to see either a black man or a woman get to be President. And he wants to see women as priests.
He believes the country and world need to see changes and great strides.

The Guam vote, Obama wins by 7 votes. It's so amazing that we are so totally split between the two candidates like this.
Just for the record, CNN is reporting that Indiana is in a dead heat there also. From the polls I've been watching, Hillary has it won in Indiana by about 6 percenage points. We'll see who gets closer. Now they're on the record.
-
From CNN.com Politics on Guam: "Voters cast secret ballots in polling places as opposed to publicly aligning themselves in presidential candidate preference groups, as in more traditional caucuses, such as in Iowa and Nevada."
Hmmm, seven votes in a secret ballot....Out of thousands cast. Any potential problem here? Did any get lost? Any persuasion of the elderly by candidate group or recording inaccuracy? Any miscount? Any absentee ballots not in and counted?
Is this third world enough yet for America?
Is the Democratic National Committee high tailing it to Guam tonight? Hmmmm.
TBC?

From Pacificnewscenter.com:
Officials Say Recount Is 'Imminent'
Pacific News Center Staff Reporter 04.MAY.08
9:30 a.m. Guam - The Democrat Party Nominating Committee said officials will look over the large amount of "spoiled ballots" in the coming days.
At issue is the small margin of victory of Senator Barack Obama. He beat his rival, Senator Hillary Clinton by 7 votes, but well over 500 ballots were deemed invalid during the tabulation process.
Herbie Perez, chairman of the nominating committee, said she will not certify the results because the Committee needs to ensure that all the uncounted ballots were properly identified as "spoiled."
She said officials from the Party and representatives from both candidates will meet probably Monday or Tuesday to address that issue.
Perez revealed she is also looking into the missing ballots.
More than 8,100 were printed in response to reports of shortages at precinct sites. But when the final tally came in, only a little over 4,500 ballots were used. - Pacific News Center - Guam, Saipan, CNMI, Asia-Pacific
Hmmm, maybe Mr. Dean is catching a plane south, ya think? -
"Hmmm, maybe Mr. Dean is catching a plane south, ya think?"
Absolutely, and with as many premarked ballots they may need. I thought the number of votes counted was pretty small considering the population there is 170,000.
-
Let me guess, premarked ballots towards the big O?
Implying DNC has picked their man?
Wow. -
Dean certainly doesn't give me a warm fuzzy that he's in the Clinton camp. His job should be how to get Fl and MI votes to count, not his continued call for the super delegates to vote before the convention.
They've been saying something that the Fl and Mi delegates won't be able to have a vote to choose the next President? How do they plan on that happening if they are there to vote in the convention, why seat them? Very confusing.
-
Shokk & Others,
I'm back!! I actually had a great time this weekend at the reunion. Made some wonderful reconnections. Most of the peope who self identify as Dems are voting for Hillary on Tuesday. One rather outspoken woman (my mother) indicated that she is damn tired of people assuming she is voting for Obama. To paraphrase her (I couldn't do a true quote, it would be deleted)" Do people think I'm so stupid that I vote by skin color?" I get my attitude naturally, it's genetic!
I'm tired and off to bed. Will catch up with everyone tomorrow.
Cherryl
-
Cherry,
"One rather outspoken woman (my mother) indicated that she is damn tired of people assuming she is voting for Obama."
I had a good laugh at that one.
-
Cherryl...I love your mother!
-
Your mother sounds terrific.
When my dad told me that he would vote for Obama or Hillary because of "what" they are instead of who they are, I was pretty indignant. I told that just because he wanted to see this in his lifetime that the policies they put in place can effect America for generations to come and that was not fair to me or Teryn. I mean, the Presidents who decided to enter the Vietnam War and then our own GeorgeW going into Iraq ... well, that cost us a lot more than money! And for how long will our nation have to pay for it all! We are still paying for Vietnam casualties. You can't just UN-DO policies or get out of Iraq. By voting for what a person is, you could end up in a lot of trouble if they are dishonest or not very bright! This time, with Bush, we ended up getting both of those!

Something Wasn’t WrightWhy Oprah Winfrey left Rev. Jeremiah Wright's church.
Allison SamuelsNEWSWEEKUpdated: 12:39 PM ET May 3, 2008For any spiritually minded, up-wardly mobile African-American living in Chicago in the mid-1980s, the Trinity United Church of Christ was—and still is—the place to be. That's what drew Oprah Winfrey, a recent Chicago transplant, to the church in 1984. She was eager to bond with the movers and shakers in her new hometown's black community. But she also admired Trinity United's ambitious outreach work with the poor, and she took pride in upholding her Southern grandmother's legacy of involvement with traditional African-American houses of worship. Winfrey was a member of Trinity United from 1984 to 1986, and she continued to attend off and on into the early to the mid-1990s. But then she stopped. A major reason—but by no means the only reason—was the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
According to two sources, Winfrey was never comfortable with the tone of Wright's more incendiary sermons, which she knew had the power to damage her standing as America's favorite daytime talk-show host. "Oprah is a businesswoman, first and foremost," said one longtime friend, who requested anonymity when discussing Winfrey's personal sentiments. "She's always been aware that her audience is very mainstream, and doing anything to offend them just wouldn't be smart. She's been around black churches all her life, so Reverend Wright's anger-filled message didn't surprise her. But it just wasn't what she was looking for in a church." Oprah's decision to distance herself came as a surprise to Wright, who told Christianity Today in 2002 that when he would "run into her socially … she would say, 'Here's my pastor!' " (Winfrey declined to comment. A Harpo Productions spokesperson would not confirm her reasons for leaving the church.)
But Winfrey also had spiritual reasons for the parting. In conversations at the time with a former business associate, who also asked for anonymity, Winfrey cited her fatigue with organized religion and a desire to be involved with a more inclusive ministry. In time, she found one: her own. "There is the Church of Oprah now," said her longtime friend, with a laugh. "She has her own following."
Friends of Sen. Barack Obama, whose relationship with Wright has rocked his bid for the White House, insist that it would be unfair to compare Winfrey's decision to leave Trinity United with his own decision to stay. "[His] reasons for attending Trinity were totally different,'' said one campaign adviser, who declined to be named discussing the Illinois senator's sentiments. "Early on, he was in search of his identity as an African-American and, more importantly, as an African-American man. Reverend Wright and other male members of the church were instrumental in helping him understand the black experience in America. Winfrey wasn't going for that. She's secure in her blackness, so that didn't have a hold on her.'' And while Winfrey, who has endorsed Obama and campaigned on his behalf, had long understood the perils of a close association with Wright, friends say she was blindsided by the pastor's personal assault on Obama. "She felt that Wright would never do anything to hurt a man who looked up to him as a father figure," said her close friend. "She also never thought he'd intentionally hurt someone trying to make history and change the lives of so many people.''

Yikes! Is there anyone on this thread who is not an obamaholic? I don't get it. What does this many offer but pretty words? He has virtually no track record. Granted Hillary is not the perfect candidate either, but at least you have some idea what to expect.
If they didn't discount Florida and Michigan, who would be ahead? Why didn't he play fair and agree to real primaries there?
-
Ah Joanne...many of us are NOT Obamaholics...read the threads.
