Judy B!!!!! I missed you. I am so sorry about your daughter. Is there anything we can do to help? Don't feel bad for staying away; all of us come and go. You have family that needs you. You have a new name and avatar. Who are those cuties in the picture?
Faith - 3 hours from what time are you leaving home? I may be able to work around your travel plans. I'm South during work hours and North after work!

Judy - We have not met - but my well wishes are out there for your daughter....I am near the hospital and have friends that work there so do not hesitate if you need something.
We could meet Faith in Ann Arbor area if she left at 8 am right? Maybe somwhere right off of Wastenaw??
Faith - Are any of your shows in Flint open to the public - I am tempted to drive up there with my son!!! Could you send me your schedule of open shows?
How are those babies????
Hi Spynx!! Met you sweet sweet co-worker yesterday!!!! We had a nice visit. Thank you!
hugs

Judy B - Welcome back to the MI site...we have not met either. So sorry to hear about your DD. Sending you hugs ((((((judy)))))
Faith, Nessie, Nancy, Susie - I would love to join you girls for lunch. Is it ok that I just invited myself?

I came across this site and have been interested in every story. I am a survivor, dx sept 04, stage 3b, spread to neck. er+/pr- her+.
I did 6 months chemo first, then radiation, the bilateral mastectomy the 16 months of Herceptin. Also on tamoxifen.
I am having a bad day today for some reason and thought I might put myself out there and see what happens.

keep me in the loop for meeting up, I'll try depending on what day of the week it is
-
Hi Kitkat,
Sorry you are having a bad day. Seems like we chatted in room a while back. I haven't been back to the room since we lost our Laura. Just not the same. Hope you have a better day tomorrow.
I think I'll join in on May 5 if in Ann Arbor area. I'm going there that evening anyway. I don't go to Flint until the next week for work. Can someone in the AA area let us know where would be a good place to meet that has easy access for Faith?
Linda

Thanks to all for the welcome. Nancy, it's good to "see" you again
Those are our chihuahua's- Ollie, Sophie, and Bane. The yorkie isn't in the picture, he stays away from the rowdy little things.
To those whom I've never met...Winggirl, Susieloo....thank you for the warm welcome. This is an awesome support network, always has been; and the MI thread is always right near the top. The support from the wonderful women here in MI is amazing!
Thanks to all for the concern about my daughter. She's all I think about, morning, noon and night.
Her digestive tract seems to have shut down; she hasn't kept any food down since Oct., has lost almost 40 pounds, and is being fed via artery. We are losing patience with our docs, they seem to be in no big hurry to fix this. Her next test isn't scheduled until the end of May, her next follow up in June. I just can't wait anymore, it seems so wrong to not just do it all right now.
Here I am poring all of this out to you all, when you have your own problems. Thank you for listening.

Glad you found us again. I'm so very sorry to hear that your daughter is so ill. Do they know why? Anything we can do? We certainly will pray for her and you. I live over in Kalamazoo and my daughter and her family live in Ann Arbor. In fact my daughter just got a job at Ann Arbor hospital in maternity and will begin in a couple of weeks. Please stay in touch with us, we are here to support you. It doesn't have to be about BC; we have so much more going on in our lives and I cannot imagine anything worse that our children being seriously ill.
Love and prayers for you and lots of ((((hugs)))), Linda

Hi Michiganders!
This will probably be short as "little miss" is spending the night with us and for some reason hasn't fallen asleep yet...................thinking she's pushing Grandma's buttons...and she's at the last one right about now!
Judy: Sending you hugs...and lots of them to share with your DD and your family. As the other girls have said.......let us know if we can do anything to help out. Do you mind me asking how old she is? If you want to pm me address and such..........maybe some cards or a little care package will help cheer her up!
KitKat: Welcome to you! I'm sorry you are having a bad day.............we all have bad along with the good..........so never feel bad about coming here!! We're a friendly bunch!
Nancy: Only 9 survivors??????????????? What happened to our group from last year?? Looks like we'll have to go searching!
Winggirl: Of course you can invite yourself! You know that's what we all do around here!
Hoping I can do the lunch................apparently my DD is thinking of my future.........or planning on having me committed 'somewhere' as she has taken the liberty of signing me up for a one day class on Weaving Baskets!
I THINK she has already paid...but not sure. I know it's during the day, but don't know what time it is. She offered to cancel it, but I don't want her to do that cuz the $$ are non-refundable...................hopefully (I would think it would be over mid-afternoon).......I can meet either the Southern belles for a early lunch or more likely the northern group for a later lunch/early dinner!
Just let me know what you all decide..........I'm not sure what time Debby is coming through............I have to tell you, just watched her DVD with my GD! It is so cute!
Susie: I'm sure you can go to the concert that Faith will be giving....I don't know where it is yet, but it is on the 6th.....Tuesday. I'm hoping my DD will bring my GD here cuz I have to work and won't be able to drive to Sterling Hts and back afterwards!
Hugs,
Neesie

Judy - I remember the pictures of your family and I can't imagine that your daughter had 40 lbs to spare since she was as tiny as you! Maybe we need to have a sit-in until they give you some answers and help. It's no longer all about us here or for me, didn't feel like it was when I needed help with my DH also having cancer. Yes, it is so much harder to have a loved one go through bad things than yourself. Sit her doc down and say that you want some expert second or third or more opinions on this now! You probably already did that but it sounds like it is time to jump all over them.
KitKat - Darnit, those bad days always sneak back in. How is today? It's Michigan and Ontario in your case and it's not snowing today. That has to brighten you up a little? Please stick around and you will see that these boards are addicting once you jump in. I've been much more selective about what I have time to read anymore but I have to start my day with the "...I'm bitchy..." and "..Can't get my act together..." posts just to get a laugh. I don't contribute but I've become a stalker! Hanna just wrote something that brought tears to my eyes that should be published and I have to know how AlaskaDeb is doing, Patrice kills me she is so funny. Is anyone else following those posts?
Winggirl - That's how it works here, we throw out suggestions and you have to jump in. It is always 'the more the merrier' and there is no such thing as invitations.
Linda - It will be nice to meet you if we all swing this on the 5th. Have you heard from LuckyAnna? Send her our best if you do.
I haven't welcomed Mary, 40Something, Linda1, Di and some other new faces. Please come back and make yourself at home. Like Judy said, this post is almost always the most active and if you look at the amount of posts, I don't think any topic has more (maybe the Mojo post)!
Susie - I'm dying to know who you met up with from work. I'm lucky that I work with many sweet people. How is your new job? Can't wait to catch up.
Neesie Neesie Neesie - Not 9 survivors on the Team, only 6! It think there will be many more though. Basket weaving? In the right environment it could be fun. Maybe your DH thought you had the hands for it. Ok, that was just plain cruel! I'm kidding!
I have to start calling or sending email to some of the regulars who have moved on from the board. Judy probably remembers Geri and Irene and even Michelle from Michigan came back for some quick How-do's. Not-me and Mr. Not have joined the team. Pat is around but hasn't visited us on the Michigan post for a while. Yoohoo Pat! Kats just went through an earthquake but said only her cats seemed to notice. Has anyone heard from Kay?
Faith - when are those babies coming?
Now, about the 5th and on the South side of town: Off of 23 is Washtenaw (17) and that may be the only main stretch of restaurants other than off of 94 and that may take you off course.
Here is a map:http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result.php?q1=ypsilanti%2C+mi
Heading East, I've been to the Smoke House blues and that is about it but it's not showing up on the map for some reason. Here is their website: http://www.smokehouseblues.com/
Pizza Hut is down there I think. Going West is Paesano's but I've never been there. Down Carpenter is Red Lobster.
On the North side of town, the most North I've gotten is to our old haunt on Lee Rd, Olive Garden. How North will you be and at what time?Hope to see you guys soon!
xxxooo
Nancy -
MI get together girls....
Thanks spynx for all the detail on location - there is Chili's, Noodle and Co, Potbelly's to the east. I have been to Paesano's - it is very nice authenic Italian ( I think - and not cheep) Oh! and Plymouth Road good Idea - isn't there an Applebees and Carsons ( pretty good - owned by the Main Street Ventures group I think)
I met Melinda Spynx - so sweet - and he husband too. We had a very nice visit - I feel very lucky to have the chance to meet with people and learn about them......
OMG! I love my job! I feel like the coolest girl in the world to be there. My skin already looks better ( they gave me some testers to try!)
Love and Pink Ribbons
Susie

I see that Noodles & Company is right on the corner at Arborland so would be easy to find. Further down the street is Panera Bread. Let's avoid the pricey places.
Melinda and Hubby Susie?! Yep, she is a sweetie pie.
Give us the scoop about the best products for your skin.

OK northern planners: I just did a quick mapquest and it said that it is approx 3.5 hours from my DDs house to generic Ann Arbor. If I was all organized (hahahaha) and left here @ 8:00 I could be to which ever restaurant makes sense by noon -- angels willing.
Sphynx, SusieLou, WingGirl and any one else who could do AA around noon PLEASE consider this the official invitation to join us. Neesie will stop thru with her newly woven basket, right? And we will ask them to serve muffins in it!!
Our TWINS are to arrive this week. Their daddy, my SIL arrives home from the Air Force in a couple of hours, God willing. He's been granted a week's leave to be able to be here and somehow her little body has kept them inside for his arrival. I swear she's gonna hug him and they are gonna fall out.
Can't tell you any more specifics as we have a poll going on another thread and I don't want to wreck the suspense.... but I will say that WingGirl must be clairavoyant. (Sure wish I could spell.)
Can't wait to see some of you again and meet others!!!
Judy, my heart goes out to you as you support your daughter thru the unknown. Watching my DD at close range thru the rigors of this pregnancy has been challenging as a mom, and there is a possible happy ending to her story. Can't imagine how you hold up with the frustration you've described briefly. This is the place for support. Will add your story to my prayer list..... imploring the angels for answers and insight. In the mean time: hang in there. One step at a time and all that bumper sticker stuff.

I'm such a Butt................I just finished (almost) a post and hit the backspace button on keyboard and everything vanished!! I'll try again after I see "itchy man" in the morning!
Hugs,
Denise

Hi Everyone!
Sorry I've been AWOL lately. Welcome to all the newcomers!
I just got back from vacation, and have a huge stack of mail (bills) to get through, so I don't have time to catch up on all the posts. Just wanted to let you know that I'm in for the Race and will sign up some time this week. I've already healed from my latest foot break, so I'm good to go. Nancy - I'll be glad to help get everything together again this year - wouldn't miss it!
Take care,
Irene
-
Fantastic Irene! I'm getting geeked again. Be sure your camera is ready to go. Hope you had a good time on vacation.
Judy - Been thinking of you and hope today is a good day for your daughter.
Susie - Love Melinda's lanyard with the little charms. She talked highly of you. No surprise there.
Faith - Noon around Ann Arbor works for me. I'll have to get back to work but will have a little time to catch up with all the lovelies that can make it.
Where are we meeting? Are you also meeting North for dinner? (Maybe I can do both - oink).
-
Hi There to all the new gals and to all my "old" pals
as well!!
Judy, I just want to say how very sorry I am to hear the news about your sweet daughter. I agree with Nancy - I'm positive she didn't have 40 pounds to even lose. I am sending my love, hugs and prayers to you and your family. Please know we are always with you even when we don't hear from you - you are definitely in our hearts!!
Nancy, Irene, Denise, Chris, Geri, Michelle, Mary and Kay: Have missed seeing all you guys - it's been a long long time it seems. I do come to the boards now and then - and I also check out "our" Michigan thread as well. I haven't been able to make some of the last get togethers due to being in either Chicago or Milwaukee with kids and grandbabies and now we have a new little one due on May 4th in Milwaukee - YEA!!! Anyway, due to all of the uncertainity as to if she'll be early, late or in-between I am going to Milwaukee on May 1st to help out with my almost three year old grandbaby Reilly. She is really a doll but I'm not sure she'll be too happy not being the complete center of attention any more!!
Long way to say I won't be able to meet up with you this time BUT I definitely will next.
Hugs to all,
Pat

Linda, Neesie, Faith, Pat, and Nancy, Thanks so much for your kind words and prayers. You're right, Nancy, it is so hard to watch her becoming so thin; I wish so much that she could be going out, having fun, and getting herself into trouble like a normal 21 year old. She was going to Madonna Univ. to be a Phys. Assistant or Psychologist, and it is very hard for her to put that aside for now.
Well, she weighed about 120 in Oct. and she weighs about 85 now, so I guess that is actually about 35 pounds lost. It has dropped as low as 83 pounds. I am calling my health plan to see if we can go out of state, my m.i.l. is insisting that we try the Mayo Clinic.
If her bowel is paralyzed there may not be much we can do. She has another test WEd. morning at UofM to test her bowel muscles. The test sounds horrible, she is dreading it. Her stomach could actually still work, but if the bowels stopped working, then the body rejects any food since it has nowhere to go.
It sounds like you guys have been getting together pretty regularly. That's really nice
It is nice to see the familiar names again...does Chris still post? I just don't have the time right now to go through the 63 pages (WOW) to see familiar names. I thought I saw Lori Ann posting a few pages back?
So I'm off to bed, early morning at the hospital tomorrow.
Talk again soon
Judy B.

Judy B. - Thinking of you today. How did the test go for your daughter?
MI lunch ladies - Have we decided where we are meeting our dear Faith? I need an address so I can map quest - no roundies or turn around/about things for me I have trouble getting there driving a straight line...thanks
. Sure wish Faith could bring the twins!
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the walk.

I've got to find out for sure from my DD about May 5th.................as much as I would like to learn to weave a basket (actually a tote with a fabric handle) I really want to have lunch/dinner with you all!
I know you're planning a lunch in AA............but are any of you hooking up later in the day??
Nancy.........there are alot of New restaurants in the new shopping area in Brighton............haven't tried any of them yet..............I get to scope them out as I'm going in circles trying to get off of the round-a-bout!
If you guys don't want to eat again..(those that are going both places!) Maybe we can find a coffee house or something where we can hang for a bit!
Either way.........I'll see you all soon!
Nancy........that wasn't cruel about the 'hands' for basket weaving...it was funny! Actually, I think she feels I've got the 'mind' for it as I associate it to the days when basket weaving was taught on the psych ward!!
Hugs,
Denise

Omy goodness - I was getting the e-mail updates and TOTALLY missed out on the pic!!! Faith - your daughter and son in law did such beautiful work with the Love of THE MAN upstairs. Congrats! - Congrats! Names? Natural? How is the lovely new mom? Is SIL in town now? Oh my...I wish I could hold them and smell them......innocent baby smell - the best medicine.
Did we choose a place to chow? Faith what time do you have to be in Flint?Noodle and Co, Potbelly's, Chili's, Panera....any other choices? WingGirl/Nessie - they all do not require a Michgan U turn OR Round about ! If you are lucky will will choose one right on the main drag...lol and hugs! How many do we have now? Monday the 5th right? Anyone else out there want to join us???....is will be fun.....ok - enough q's.....
Mwah!

Tomorrow is my first taxol day.....and i need to find out how bad it is....i dont have a ride to get there as my diarrhea and throwing up,so i need to figure out how bad the drive home will be. Do they usually give iv called benedryl?? I've called 5 others and they all have appts tomorrow during chemo time...I am scared about the taxol after hearing that its the one that caused the backaches and joint pain i was having when i got TAC all together...the depression has sunk closer in tonight..usually its fightable, but its hard when its in this far
-
Hi y'all - Yes, Chris is still on from time to time and active with the Komen Race with lots of family support. Lori Ann is back and asked about you Judy also a few pages back. She planned our last get-together but had an emergency and couldn't make it. Chris, Lori Ann, going to make one one the 5th? Irene, Geri, Kay...? Don't mean to miss anyone but I miss you guys!
Yep, I'm going to try both North and South on the 5th. Around Ann Arbor, how about we just pick one - Noodles and Co is right in Arborland on the corner of 17 (Washtenaw) and 23 as soon as you get off the highway. Arborland has a huge sign so would be hard to miss.
North - you guys pick a place and I'll try to head there for at least dessert. I've gone back to the round-about a few times and getting slightly better at it. The trick is to drive like a little old lady and stop at each yield sign! It takes a few minutes for the pictures on the signs to register where the heck you are going.
Pat - more pictures please. Hope to see you soon when you are in town. Neesie - glad you got my sick humor about your Femara hands. Yep, I remember when basket weaving was for psych wards and senior centers.
Faith - I was sure I wrote something yesterday but do not see my reply. The babies are beautiful!!! It does make you want to bury your face in them and baby smell - Susie you are right, "innocent baby smell - the best medicine"!! Wings - how did you guess so close? Does she get a prize?
Di - How was your first taxol? I had to see your posts to check out why you dropped off this post. Are you ok? check in!Judy - How did the tests go? I'm crossing everything for you and your family. Why do tests have to be so damn nasty or painful or just claustophobic? When are we going to get one of those devices on Star Trek - what are they called? Just scan you with a little gun, no poking, probing, smashing or grabbing.
Can't wait to see you guys!

Judy B...so sorry to hear about your daughter. That is so not fair and please do demand the Mayo Clinic. My husband had an undiagnosed illness a few years back...he lost about 50 pounds and could not keep anything down. We ended up going to the Mayo Clinic...it is a very impressive place. I will keep your daughter in my prayers. We are glad to see you back here...we have missed you!
Di...how's the chemo treatment going? I hope you are fairing well. Maybe you will feel up to meeting with the north group in Flint?
Wingirl...congrats on your DD graduating from college.
Mary...my husband is from the Jackson area. His sisters worked at Foote Hospital in the past. How is your treatment going?
Denise...basket weaving does sound fun. Its not an under water basket weaving class, is it?
Linda...congrats on your great check ups.
Irene...looking forward to seeing you at the walk again this year.
Pat...congrats on the announcement of another grand baby...I can't wait for those days.
Faith...beautiful...congrats on the arrival of the little cherubs!
Nancy...have you sent out a note on the race? I haven't been around much on the boards...how are we doing on numbers? I will be glad to post something if you like.
Everyone...glad it is spring and I hope all is well. It is so very nice to walk outside and see flowers in bloom. We thought it would never come...right? We put out our lawn furniture last night!
I have been dreaming of wedding cake lately. My husband's daughter was married one month ago...our niece (whom we raised as a daughter) is engaged and to be married this summer, and the sailor daughter is engaged and to be married in February. Yes that's right...three girls...three weddings in 11 months. My wallet is sad. And we have three other weddings for friends and yet another niece this year as well...and my parents 50th this summer. Love is in the air!
-
Not-me, I've lived in Jackson all my life. Where did your husband go to school? Foote is a wonderful place for treatments. I was very hesitant to go there, since my Mom had her treatments there and she is gone now. But their new treatment room is wonderful and everybody is kind and helpful.
I'll be glad when I'm done. I've had 2 out of 6 treatments and my down days are growing. I can't even stand to think about the next time. However, right now, I got my "normal" back and I feel fabulous. Plan on enjoying the next 12 days. I say normal except for this stupid scarf on my head.
Hope everybody else is doing good. God Bless and good luck, Mary
-
Hi Mary...he grew up in a little town east of there...Grass Lake. He had two sisters that worked there at one time but both have moved on. I love your part of MI...and I have often thought that I would like to live there. But "Glory Days" DH (yes he was the high school football captian, home coming king and all that) would not think of it. I do so love the area when we are there visiting family. I hope all is well with the treatments...please keep us posted. Although I did not have to do chemo...we have many ladies here on this MI board that did. You are not alone. Take care GF!!!
