Hey Sue, love, hang on, baby, hang on. You are getting there, in little steps, the end is in sight. You can do this, sweeties, just hang on. Sue, I had a dog that almost died from a flea collar? Take Zippy's off. Do you have Advantage for cats over there? If you don't I can send you some. It is a tiny bottle, you drop a few drops on a kitty's head, and it is not poison, it makes the female fleas infertile, you will not see another flea. We use that and I think the other one is Frontline? Help me out girls. But get rid of that collar. The vet told me when I asked that some have more poison than others. That is what happened to my dog. She almost died.
I LOVE the pix, so I can put the name to the face. It is such a good thread, we have all become like sisters. Well, in some cases, better.
Where is ULLA? Did she get to keep the cat? I sure hope so, jealous husbands, my dad was that way, jealous of our dog!
Well, not much news, getting ready for the Amazon. Hope I don't get some dengue fever, filarosis, typhoid, malaria, yellow fever, bot fly disease, etc. YIKES, I think I will stay on the ship!
Love you all, Shirlann
s
I love the pix! I sure wish I could post some. Oh well, I will send them to Sue when she feels better to post for me.

Hi everyone,
I posted about the hottie firemen that someone posted....said something about now I understand why you ladies all hang in here together and that those guys could be sent to me
....
Then I posted it and was reading through some of the thread, Im at work and my boss's silly lab (Brewster) decided to jump in my lap....must have hit a button on the keyboard or something cause my post was deleted. Goofy dog!!!!! he comes over to the office with Mark (boss) once in awhile and he has figured out I keep a box of doggie treats in my desk drawer for him.....only thing is....he out weighs me by about 20 lbs and he keeps insisting that he sit in my lap!!!!..
I havent had time to post on the other board yet....how is Bill??? You doing ok???
Hugs
Jule
-
Oh he may be a brat, but my little boys are: 54, 50 and 47, and I would give anything to have them back at, say, 7, 4 and 1. Sob, sob, I really don't know these big men, I want my little boys back. WAHHHHHHH, not gonna happen!
Sue, you must have very, very delicate skin. Honey, I will send you some of this Advantage. I got it for Cleo but she doesn't need it until summer. Our fleas leave us alone in the winter, even though we don't have any winter. Sheesh.
You put it on once a month. I will send the directions.
Love to all my sisters, Shirlann
-
Jule, that Brewster sounds a lot like my basset Penelope. She does not outweigh me but when she decides that she wants me to rub her belly and I don't want to get on the floor, she pratically throws herself in my lap, and when a 55 lb dog decides to get in you lap, you have to let her. Last night I tried to clip her nails and she thought I was playing with her until she saw the clippers then she ran from me and would not come near. I guess I will have to call the groomer to give her a bath and trim her nails.

Haha AE Love the pic...he looks like he is footy mad!!! is it footie you have over there .... or is it baseball...or maybe basketball...xxx
Shirlann thankyou!!! Zippy looks really scraggy ...I bought him this kind of plug in air freshener type gadget from the vets once...oh gosh cant remember what its called but i saw it again at the vets...well....round the cats face it gives off love scent ...his back end gives off territory scent...in this plug in thingy ..you plug it in the wall and it gives off love scent....last time I got one Zippy was going mad with happiness!!! It destresses them...I might get another one .... when he comes upstairs with me...he has to come up behind me so he can pluck the carpet with his claws...which have scent in them ...to say he is owning that space...hes terribly atttachrd to me... xxx
Jules ...Brewster sounds adorable...lol...I would have him in my lap all day .... I love labs ...my dad has always had labs...you are so lucky to have him in your working day!!!!! hahaha...I bet he squashes you LOL....
Sheila ... Penelope is very clever...I guess you will have to call in the beautician LOL xxx
-
Sheila-I love basset hounds, they are so adorable....hmmmm Im kind of thankful that Brewster isnt my dog.....I dont have to do things like bath him or do his nails......its only my job to spoil him
..
Sue-he is pretty easy to get attatched to thats for sure....has a wonderful personality....I live alone and have been thinking of getting a dog for company....my girl friend has registered labs and her dog just had 10 puppies and there is on little girl one that is the sweetiest little face you have ever seen....I keep jumping back and forth about it as I work full time and dont have the time to really house train a puppy but she would be so much company for me.....one day I say yes, next day I say no....pretty bad though when Ive already picked out her name....Libby
Thank you all for letting me follow your yellow brick road with you today
..
Jule
-
Jule...that would be me...gosh it is soooo tempting.....I would love a dog..but I work full time...and my d/h doesn't much go crazy for pets
which annoys me no end .... I had a dog when I was married.... he was a greyhouund lurcher type...my ex has him now...he was called Neville and had a brother called Nigel ...we got him from abandoned animals when he was a puppy..OMG we did not choose his name LOL...
I love the name Libby for a lab...I would be very tempted for the company...please let me know what you decide...Brewster ...god I could love some lump like him perched on my knee...slopping up the treats ....
I WANT A DOG
I am going to send a get Sue a dog petition to my d/h ..... !!!!
Much Love to you all xxxxxxxxx
You are ALL in my heart tonight as always xxx

Jule - so glad to see you posting here - Bill or UB as Sue calls him is struggling with the whole depression thing. We go on Thurs. for his next treatment.
Ladies - Jule is a very good friend of mine that I met here (she knows our Val sul) and have continue to stay in touch with. She just sent Val THE most beautiful quilt she made herself!!! Truly a labor of love.
Sue - Griffen just turned 11 and for the moment is very much into basketball. Although his first love is baseball. He really is a sweet kid, WAY to mature for his age!!
Glad you all like the pics, I know Lisa was asking about hair growth. Sure hope she is doing OK.
Shirlann- I don't use the flea collars either. Just don't trust them.
Sheila- Jule can tell yoiu my bloodhound is a handful. He's 110lbs and thinks he is a lap dog. He LOVES to sit on me. Jule - get the puppy - just keep him crated during the day until she is older - for her safety as well as your sanity. Animals are pure joy.
Love you all,
AE
-

Is he cooking something good for dinner tonight? I hope he is feeling better and will keep you both close in my prayers.xxxx
Sue Zippy is in my prayers too! Hugs to Zip.
-
Sue, my dog was allergic to flea collars too. I started putting Advantage on her and it worked really well - no fleas! I will pray that dear Zippy will be ok - he is sure to be as you removed the collar pretty quickly. Shirlann - you always have such great advice! Sue - so sorry your mouth is starting to hurt already. Oh, I will be sooo happy for you when these treatments are over. Damn stinking bootface! I heartily agree with your rant against it. What a stinking, rotten disease it is. But Sue, you are beating it. You have already beaten it. All these rough treatments are just extra precaution to ensure that it doesn't come back.
Ann - always great to hear from you! Love to you too.
Shirlann - you must be so excited about the Amazon! When do you go? What a great experience it will be. I am sure you will get vaccinations against all those nasty diseases. I hope you will show us lots of pics when you come back.
AE - what a cute grandson! I wonder what he wished for after blowing out those candles?
Jule - what an enormous dog! He must love you! And Sheila, I got a strong mental picture of your basset hound demanding a cuddle. Oh - I love dogs and cats and just about everything else in the animal world!
Love,
Jane. xxxx

Thank you all for the warm welcome.....I really enjoy reading all your posts here, a very bright spot in the day to see this type of support within a group.....
Valerie-you tell Bill that if I have to call he's going to hear it big time!!!!!!! I know its hard to beat the depression of all this, especially a second go round but I also KNOW he can do it...heck with his best girl (YOU) by his side how could he not!!!! Snuggle up to him this evening and give him a peck on the cheek and tell him its from me and that Im thinking about him and hoping he gets to feeling better...... I will be calling this weekend to check on you both.....
Sue-you would love Brewster.....Ive known him since he was a puppy and he is very loving.....maybe when you get feeling better you can get a puppy too....heck if I could figure out how to send you one believe me I would
Oh yes!!!! Valeries bloodhound...now thats a character anyone could love....she told a story about them walking together that had me rolling on the sofa in laughter.....remember those marmaduc cartoons???
Honeygirl-yep I think your right...little Libby is already in my heart so Im pretty sure I know where she's going to live when she gets a little older....I have heard that crating them works well so will give it a try....if that doesnt work then I guess grandma is back in the babysitting business again....mom lives on my way to work so have to go by anyway...only thing is....Libby would be so spoiled no one could tolerate her!!!!....
Gotta run....heading home, am actually at work writing this...will check back later...

Hi everyone!
Where are ya Lisa?? I'm worried about you, hon! Please check in to let us know how you're doing. I hate it that antidepressants take so long to kick in. Just be patient. One day you'll just feel better. I remember the exact MOMENT mine kicked in. I suddenly felt this sense of peace.
Sue, you're down to one hand!!!! You are seriously my hero! I don't know anyone who's had such an aggressive regimine. And you're handling it so well. I know that you don't think you are, but trust me---you ARE! Hang in there sweetie!
Welcome, Jule! I need to check on the Washington thread again. Haven't been there since I discovered it by accident last week. You just have to get a puppy! My dogs drive me nuts, but I can't imagine my life without them. My little weiner dog was such a nervous nellie after my first round of chemo. I had a bad reaction to my Neulasta shot and honestly felt like I was dying. She would not live my side. Dogs are such loyal companions.
I love the picture of the lab puppies, Mel. I think the next big dog we're going to get will be a black lab. Maybe a yellow one. Haven't decided for sure yet. I really want a pug puppy, but my dh doesn't like small dogs. Tinker came with the package (I already had her when I married him). He tolerates her but doesn't like her at all. He teases her relentlessly.
Where is our Ulla? I was wondering about Erik too. Did you decide to give him and dh some more time to bond?
Love to all--Jane, Valerie, Shirlann, Wren, Sheila, Ann, Nancy, Annie, Tender, and anyone I may be forgetting (when does this chemo brain get better????).

Hi Mel!
My class is interesting but I haven't done my homework! Just bolting down a quick sandwich for lunch and then I will do it. We had a philosophical discussion last class about Mr. Heinz, his terminally ill wife and a phamicist. It is one of those ethical senarios. The pharmacist found a cure for the disease that Mrs. Heinz had and he told Mr Heinz that the vial of medicine would cost $100,000. Mr H didn't have anything like that much money. He loved his wife very much and wanted her to stay with him so one night, he broke into the pharmacist's laboratory and stole the medicine that would cure his wife. Did he do the right thing? We had to break into groups and discuss whether Mr H was right or wrong in his actions. The group I was in was unanimous in saying he was right. It was very interesting to hear the different arguments for and against Mr H's actions in the other groups.
My permission to teach has not come through yet so I am having to put my teachers aid work on hold for a little longer. It always takes ages to get the permission because there are so many new teachers waiting for their clearances.
i have not seen Mr/Ms Blue Tongue since he licked my shoe. I hope the dear lizard is ok and that no cats have found him.
Have a good sleep eveyone.
Hugs,
gb

I would have said that he was right too, Jane. Must have been an interesting class.
I'm off to bed! Hope to see you here tomorrow.
Hugs,
Karen

About getting dogs. When we got Penelope Christmas 2002, I was against getting a dog, my DH wanted one so bad - either a basset or St. Bernard. I put my foot down with a few ground rules. 1. I did not want a dog bigger than me or ate more than me. 2. I did not want a puppy to house train, my son was graduating from High School and planning to go in the service, I did not want another baby. 3. I did not want a dog that chewed up everything. 4. the dog had to be spayed/neutered.
My DH came home from work one day (before trucking) and said that the lunch truck lady had found a basset that was 2 yrs old, house broke, fixed and needed a good home. We went that weekend to look at her and immediately fell in love with her. She has been a life saver for me since my DH started driving truck 2 yrs ago. She does not bark in the house and does not chew up things unless I leave some papers on the floor or she drags tissues out of the trash can. I am not able to give her baths by myself so I take her to Teressa's grooming salon for her baths, and as I said earlier, she will not let me trim her nails unless I lay on top of her and hold her down. She is our team mascot when we do the fall Race for the Cure (that is where the photo of her came from) and we get her toe-nails painted bright pink for the occasion.
Animals can so enrich our lives.

Hi ladies,
I've been keeping busy at work until tomorrow...I see the onc then and FINALLY get to decide what chemo I will take (neoadjuvant). He's been on vacation so I hope he doesn't have margeurita brain (a version of chemo brain, LOL) and spends the whole time going over everything we talked about already at the last visit.
BTW, I want one of those fireman. Are they for real or models?
-
Hi ladies
Sue-I called my girlfriend last night and asked her to email me a picture of Libby for you.....if I do this now that she is also your cyberpet I expect you to keep up with your end of the deal ya know
....but I will be more than happy to share her with you....
Karen-thank you for the welcome, Im looking forward to getting to know all of you here too....although to be honest I have been lurking here for quite awhile so sometimes feel like I know some of you already....
Valerie-hope Bill is doing ok today and that you are remembering that we are there with you!!!!!! love ya
OOOOOPPPPPPS, Im at work so gotta run.....will post more to the rest of you ladies as the day goes on!!!...

Sheila, I loved hearing about how you got Penelope. It makes me want a dog so badly! The house we will be moving to has a fairly small yard and a lovely garden. I wonder what sort of dog I could get? I love medium to large dogs but will probably have to settle for a smaller, quieter breed. I do love going for walks with a dog so I would make sure we both got plenty of exercise. One of the houses we looked at had a gorgeous, elderly Golden Retriever. She was so gentle and I spent more time cuddling and playing with her than I did looking at the house. She was in a very small yard but I suppose old dogs don't run around as much and aren't so energetic. She became quite animated and grabbed her tail in her mouth and stared going in circles!
Please give Penelope a hug from me!
