Lisa, no snow, just a LOT of rain. We got water in our basement because the ground was still frozen so it had no where to run off. It's a chronic problem my parents have had since they bought this house 48 years ago, so we have it localized in an unfinished corner and keep a wet vac on hand. Every time they tried something to fix it, it would work for a while and then the water would find it's way in another way. Now it only happens about this time of year if we have heavy rain.
-
Hi Darling Ulla....enjoy your weekend without your rad tx's!! I love that pic of Liv and Ollie too!
Nancy...my backyard was saturated before this heavy snowfall, from all the rain and ice storm we had. I actually had standing water. Thank goodness, this home was waterproofed, and I have a sump pump in the basement..so no problems so far. I have lived here for 14 yrs..and have not had a wet basement. I don't know where all this snow is going to go when it melts...I am sure there will be some flooding problems in some areas.
I am having another lazy day. My throat is hurting and my head. Not sure if I did too much at work the last 2 days, but I am laying kinda low today.
Love to you all.
Enjoy your day!
xoxo

Menopause ....bad bad bad bad bad !!!!
-
-
Aw, Sue, menopause itsn't all that bad. I went through it naturally a few years ago. I was in NYC on 9-11, and I think that although the process had already started, the shock of that day pushed it to it's final stage. I had one period after that and then nada.
I have had hotflashes, but fortunately, they have not been intolerable. A friend gave me a funny cardboard fan that I have on my desk at work. and it's been enough. Since most of my friends are my age, we've been going through it all about the same time, and have come up with ways to diminish the side effects...keeping one pillow near a window (in winter) or cooling vent (in the summer) to grab when a night sweat wakes me up.
Hardly ever have a hot flash now, and sometimes it's hard to tell if it's overdressing or hormonal.
The only other s/e from natural menopause that I've had has been shorter periods of sleep. No trouble falling asleep at night, but I'm awake again in a few hours and only get a few more hours of sleep after that. But I'm sure everyone has those nights where they wake up every hour at the same time. My digital clock seemed to move the hour, but the minutes seemed to be stuck on :11 one night. It just seems to have happened more often after menopause...although now that I think about it, it also coincides with my children becoming teenagers and being out on their own of an evening, so maybe it was a combination of those things. :-)

OH LISA! What a beautiful pic of your two little O's! Olivia is sooo beautiful. But then again , so is her mother. Oliver is too cute. He wants that cup. Poor little guy is probably getting lost in all this snow. Do you still have the puppy pads down? Boy , didn't we get hit. Yes, we have about 2 feet. Our neighbors plow guy pile her snow up by our mailbox. grrrrrrrr! Our box has been taken out 3 times by plows. So our landlord got us a new one and put a piece of wood beside it so they wouldn't plow it down. Now , I just can't get to it! Oh well , if thats the worst to happen , I'm fine...
Hi Sue
! I know , the weight gain is no fun. On top of all we have been through , we get to deal with that little extra. But , it my falut too. I really haven't tried to lose weight. I think I am afraid to try , cause if I don't loose it like I usually do , I am going to be so depressed. But I guess I won't know until I try. Menopause just changes your body so much. The only plus so far for me is , I don't miss my monthlys. Well , enough wah-wahing... Good for you Sue , getting your closets cleaned out. You can probably come up with more things like that to keep your mined busy. I know , Tues is coming up fast. Pre-chemo day anxiety is the worst. After this one , how many more Sue? Hang in there honey. We are all here for you. You will get through this. Hey , did the boys go to dinner with Grand-ma-ma? Hope they had fun. So what do you have planned for tomorrow? Keep busy. Oh my , I just remembered reading you have a wind storm coming. Its probably there already. I keep forgeting about our time difference. Hope you're all OK. And I hope you don't loose power. Hugs to you and your boys Sue.xxxxx
Hi Nancy , and Ulla. Hope you two are having a good , peaceful Sunday.
Hello to all my sweet sisters. xxxx

Hi Mel, Yes...we still have the puppy pad down, but he is not used to them, so he doesn't use them. The driveway is cleared, so he is fine going outside. The mounds of snow are twice as high as he is...it's so cute to see him out there. I hope the snow starts to melt, so that you can get your mail! How fustrating! I think by Thursday, it is to warm up, but then cold again. Will spring ever come??
Sue...I hope the winds aren't as strong as they predicted..80mph...that is terrible! You will feel like Dorothy!!
Try to enjoy tomorrow...I know it's tough the day prior to tx. Love you!!
I think the weight thing is a struggle for all of us. It is sad, that after all we go through, that has to be one more thing to deal with! I am counting down the weeks, until I will be able to run again, so I can get these extra lbs. off!
Have a good evening everyone....I have been a lazy bum all day!! Olivia just ran out to get us some Chinese food...spicy!! yum!!

I don't like pork, shellfish or spam. I went camping once and all we had was spam, spam, spam! Yuuuuck! But I love all vegetables and sardines and salmon. I used to hate brussel sprouts (the way my mother used to boil them until they were bitter!) but now I saute them in a little water and butter and lots of garlic and cracked black pepper - yum! And I always buy small ones - I think they are younger and they aren't bitter.
Sue, another name for eggplant is aubergine - perhaps you know it by that name. It is another veg that needs to be prepared properly - the younger the better - good grilled (broiled), brushed with a bit of olive oil. You can also make a great dip out of it - baba ghanouj - really yummy!

Wow - there is so much to read here! More pages keep popping up - will I ever reach the end?! My comments will be way out of date by then!
xx
-
Phew! Finally made it to the end of everyone's comments. You have all been very busy - loved reading everything.
Wow Melody! Those snow pics! Incredible! My sister is staying with her daughter in Ontario and she said it is the worst snow storm in history! Would that be right? She said that after the snow ploughs had cleared the roads, they went for a drive to look at Lake Ontario and there were huge, angry waves crashing on the shore - now I know why they have a surf club there!! Surely the surfers wouldn't tackle the waves in a blizzard!
Lisa - your daughter is gorgeous - just like her sweet mother! And I know it isn't just outer beauty - she sounds like a lovely girl. I wish you could put the ad on YouTube so we could all see it!
Sue, I am glad you have this week off but I am worried that you have too much time to think and worry. I am thinking of you such a lot and hoping they give you a lower dose of chemo or something to counteract the s/es - remind them how sick you were last time. Or was that mainly caused by the shingles? I pray you will come through this treatment better than the last one.
My dh put in his final offer on the little house in the mountains and it was accepted by the vendor! Now, if it passes the building and pest inspections, it will all go ahead! I am fairly sure it will pass those - it's an old house but has been beautifully restored and the garden is so pretty.
It is late and I must go to bed. Hope to catch up with you all in (my) morning - tomorrow.
Love to all

I just logged on and have 7 pages to read up from the weekend! I have read 2 but no time to read the rest now. What have ya'll been up to. About the storm in OH. My Hubby was in Sandusky OH Friday morning at 10:00. he left and went across OH to 77 and down, he said that it took him 5 hours to travel 150 miles. he ran out of the snow 35 miles before he hit West Virginia, then it was rainy. He finally made it home at Midnight. A drive that usually he could do in 10 hours took 14. We watched the Weather Channel Sat at his mom's house and saw that Charleston WVa was a skating rink Sat. He was glad that he missed the ice in Charleston. He is ready to stay in the South this week. He starts this morning at Columbia SC and he is hoping for a run to Columbus GA after that.

Oh Jane, what great news for you!!
I hope everything goes will with the inspection. This home sounds wonderful!! I love older homes because they have so much character and quaintness about them. Is it a flower garden? I am so happy for you. Let us know when it's all final. When will you move? You will have internet service in the mountians..right?? I sure hope so! Thank you on your compliments...not sure I agree with the mother part...but...thank you. If I can somehow record it, and put it on Utube (you know I couldn't do it alone..haha) I will.
I have to accomplish something today ladies. I have to get out of this funk!!!!!!!!! I see the oc this morning, to get my bone scan results. I have to be sure I am hydrated, I am sure she will test me, since I was dehydrated last visit.
I hope everyone has a lovely day.

Sheila...I am sure that was not a pleasant drive for him. 77 South is what I travel on to work everyday. It was only 1 lane. I drove on Friday and Saturday to work. What usually takes me about 25 minutes, took me 40. I had to go in 4 wheel drive, or I would not have made it!
I hope he gets a southern run!!
-
I just took time and scanned the pages. The photos of the snow were great. My DH took a picture from the drivers seat of the truck of the highway Friday and all you could see were track marks in the snow. He also said that he was following a snow removal truck.
He just called and he is heading to Clarksville TN. he is glad that it is not far north.
I have to get back to work.

Hey Ladies,
Just checking in.

Just got back from the oc. The bone scan came back with good results. A few areas showed possible arthritis. Other than that, nothing!! Glad about that! I did talk to her about by dx and the possibility of the cancer returning. She made me feel alot better about my outlook. We also talked about an anti-depressant. She gave me a scrip for Eflixor (sp?) Are any of you on this? It sounds familiar. Mel, do you take it. I hate to take pills, but I feel like I need something, to start feeling like my old self again.
I will talk with you all later.

Lisa, I was on effexor for hot flashes but it didn't help me so I stopped taking them. I also thought it had something to do with my weight gain - but I don't believe that anymore either. I have noticed lately that me mood has gotten worse. In light of what happened to UB I think I'm going to start up again. I think it does help.
Congrats on the good scan by the way.
