Awww , Shirlann , are you still having trouble with your pencil? I wonder what the problem could be...
Lisa!
Tears of JOY defenately! You should be proud as a peacock. Way to go Danni! She is a reflection of her mother. All your girls are going to be , or are , sucessful , loving , compasionate women. And its all thanks to you Lisa. First the thoughtful , heartfelt letter from Olivia , and now a special note from Danni. Just as you are so proud of them , they are of you and thankful too. What wonderful girls you have. Moms and daughters have a special bond...
Yes Lisa , we will def get together this spring. Window shopping for me too!
Hey , lets all make sue's pie this weekend. However , I was throughly confused by "digestive biscuits"! I was thinking maybe a graham cracker crust , but maybe thats to sweet. I don't think I have any international stores around here.
I do think that all of us could watch tv together and be happy cause we all seem to watch the same shows! I have a question , does your o/h complain about any of your shows? Mine hates what not to wear! I always have to hear him grumbling when I turn it on.
Oh Lisa , they are saying we could have up to a foot of snow by Sat. starting tomorrow! Get all your running around done early tomorrow. After I get home from work tomorrow , it can snow all it wants.
Nancy , I'm glad you get to have the port put in tomorrow. Its really a quick procedure. When do you start chemo? We're all here to help you through it. Good luck. xxxx
Auntie Em , how is UB doing? Hows his chemo going? Give him a big hug for me.xxxx

Mel, my dh and I don't like ANY of the same shows. American Idol is the only thing we can sit and watch together. He watches hours of the golf channel (gag). One night though, I was in the bedroom watching tv and he was out in the living room. I came out and he was watching "What Not to Wear". Honest to God!!! He turned it off as soon as I walked in the room, but I called him on it. He made a stupid comment about watching it because he couldn't believe how dumb it was. LOL!!!!!
Hugs,
Karen
-
Oh! He'll also watch "Ghost Whisperer" with me because he likes to admire Jennifer Love Hewitt's big ta ta's! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
xoxoxo

Digestive biscuits!
What a deceptive name! I was traveling with a band (in my youth I was a bass player!) through England and Scotland, and we gorged on McVities' Wholemeal Digestive Biscuits -- sounded so wholesome and healthy! But they're cookies for heaven's sake! Especially the ones with the chocolate coating!
But NancyD, I think they're not quite as pale and bland as Uneeda Biscuit or Nilla Wafers -- to me they're like Uneeda Biscuits with some graham cracker mixed in!
-
Ann....how neat you traveled with a band when you were younger!
Karen...lol...on catching the d/h watching what not to wear...yeah...he was just seeing "how dumb" it was...lol
Mel...Thank you for your kindness. You always seem to put a smile on my face..no matter how I am feeling. I can't wait to meet you and have a girls day!!! I love the pic you posted. The little girl could be Danni when she was little..blond hair and all! I am very proud of my children, however I have a hard time taking any credit. They are such hard workers, and good people..all on their own. I don't think I shared this with you ladies, because it was shortly after I joined here. Alise had to write a paper for school...and her subject was me and my battle and strength with cancer! When I read it...I was just amazed and speachless. She is my middle daughter, and usually she keeps her feelings about serious things to herself. I would have never guessed that she felt about me the way that she did. I will have to find it and share it with you sometime. I guess you just never know about how someone's mind is working.
I have to work today and Saturday. So, I will be out in whatever snow comes our way!!
Mel...when I was married to the "martian" as we call him...the one that left me after only 5 mos..he used to hate when I watched any of the TLC shows, etc. There were a few shows that he liked, like..MEDIUM. But usually..he hated the ones I watched.
Is our Sue on Holiday this week??
Ok...off to get ready for work...
xoxo
Lisa
Praying for a good day for us all.
Nancy...good luck with your procedure today. I hope they will do the port and that you are feeling better.
-
I did my own research on Sue's recipe and found that
A) caster sugar is very fine sugar - not as fine as confectioners sugar. you can make your own by grinding granulated sugar in a food processor for a few minutes. (let dust settle before opening lid)
digestive biscuits are like graham crackers
I am going to try it this weekend. I am on the committee at church to organize a new cookbook and if I like it, I will put it in the book.

Actually a product called tegreen97 is being endorsed by the breast and prostate cancer institues because of its global patents proven to diminish and stop the spread of cancer cells. its a natural product with the highest concentration of polyphenols, no side effects, made by pharmanex. its exclusive only to those who have access. anyway i could help you guys about it, just email me at luigisk87@yahoo.com.
-
Is this a troll? I will report it. It makes no sense with the comments going on here.
sheila
-
Re Castor sugar - you can use the super fine sugar that they use at bars for drinks. I think that's actually the same but we have a different name, but it's harder to find. I've substituted confectioner's and gotten good results. The point is to have it less granular than regular table sugar.
Digestive biscuits ...yes, now I recall, they are more coarse than Uneeda Biscuits. Based on the picture Sue posted, and the type of "pie", I bet graham crackers would be perfect. I think we could come up with a few tasty variations on our own. How about those thin, chocolate wafer cookies used instead for all of us chocoholics? Hm-m, chocolate, caramel, bananas...maybe a sprinking of nuts?
-
Port insertion was very uneventful. I was home by 10:30 am. Ate a dozen Dunkin Donuts Munchkins my sister bought for me on the way home (burb), and the awful hospital coffee. So I made up for it by making an egg sandwich and a GOOD cup of coffee when I got home. OK, I can hear the oinking now. I'm skipping lunch, though. I'll just sip some green tea this afternoon.
Throat glands are down but still tender. I hope everything's cleared up by the time I see the onc next week. That's the next hurdle in this race.

WELL AE I FOUND IT ,,LZ HECK THIS WEPAGE TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IS DOLMA..
I LOVE TO IMAGINE THAT MY MOM MADE IT FOR ALL OF US IN OUR HOME,,,DREAMS ,,,SILLY DREAMS...
-
The dolma that I have had has always been spiced rice stuffed in grape leaves. They wrap the grape leaves around a spoonful of rice, tuck in the ends and make a little package, and then they're steamed or baked.
Most of the salad bars in NYC delicatessans have their own version of it. Sometimes it's hot, but most often they serve it cold. It's a Mediterranean version of stuffed cabbage, LOL.
-
honey, my husband will watch "What Not To Wear" with me! We even watched a marathon together... It's too funny because he hates shopping and clothes, etc... but really likes Clinton and Stacy! Too funny! I am glad he can tolerate that show. We don't have much else in common though as far as TV shows go...
Nancy, do you eat the grape leaves or are they just for cooking the rice, etc? I am trying to understand if they are like cabbage rolls or sushi or something different...
