oh my lololol Mel your posts are so funny
hahaha leave the pins where they are !!

Sue - great to hear that you took a sickie and that you let Tom know how you feel. I'm so glad you are having some time off!
Karen - I just loved the dog peeves - funny and true, I'm sure! I hope the mitigation thing went well for you.
Lisa, your poor colleague! I hate driving under trees in high winds. How fortunate that she wasn't badly hurt!
It's interesting about the anti-depressants. Isn't it wonderful that they can make you feel normal without making you foggy! Are there many side effects?
Hi everyone, love to all of you. (Thanks for the group hug Melody!)
Jane xxxx
-
Hi dear sisters,
Jane, no, the anti-deps do not make you at all dopey or loopy. They are Seritonin re-uptake inhibitors. (Whatever that is) They are not on the government's Substance Abuse list because they do NOT make you sleepy or dopey. They take from 3 weeks to 6 weeks to even work. Then, one day, you find yourself humming. It is quite amazing. Now, of course, they do not work on a few people, and occasionally, as with all medications, there could be side effects for some, but I had none at all. In fact, I was sure they weren't working until I had to give a speech, and sailed right through it like a pro. I thought, sheesh, if I had had this when I was young, I would have been president!
The only caveat is, when you get off them, you must do so slowllyy, like 1/2 pill for 2 weeks, then 1/4 pill for two weeks and so on. But you most certainly can stop them when the crisis is over.
They have been prescribed by the millions world wide, and I have never heard of a single physical side effect. They did think that teens might have a higher rate of suicide with them, but personally, I think they were impatient, and did not wait out the time it takes for them to work. But I don't know. I just know they do not give them to teens or younger ones.
Sue, you sound like you are doing a lot better. Whew, I am glad, you scared me there for a while, little english rose. I was worried you were fading a little. But you sound so much better. Life will be SO SWEET when this is all over.
Ulla, good to hear from you, and don't be too upset by feeling bad and sorta lost. That is just part of this whole nasty, long, and painful journey. We all got to that part sooner or later.
Love to you all, Shirlann
-
Wishing everyone well. Loved the Dog Pet Peeves! I copied it and emailed it to my dog loving son.
Spring Crocuses popping up here in the North East.
Seriously thinking of you all, and especially glad Sue called in due to illness. I've never seen anyone work through thick or thin like Sue and I hope she'll take more sickies.
Ulla hope you feel better soon too. Spring's around the corner, and doesn't that help us all?
Best,
Tender -
I just had a lovely moment. I will be looking after Oliver this weekend (friend's cat) and was waiting for my friend to drop off her house keys to me. As she was in a hurry to get back to her work, I sat on the front step to wait for her. I thought I heard a cat sneeze in the shrubery beside the steps so I started making cat noises and calling "puss, puss" softly. Then I heard a rustle and a blue tongue lizard crawled up on the step beside me, his bright blue tongue flicking in and out! They are gentle creatures (a type of skink) and they eat garden pests. Anyway, I just happened to be wearing my blue Crocks and Bluetongue came right up to my foot and licked my blue shoe! Maybe they like blue! Maybe it liked my voice? Maybe it was escaping from a sneezing cat... He (she?) sat there for a few moments, looking up at me and then crawled slowly away. I still don't know if the sound I heard was Bluetongue sneezing, a cat sneezing or my imagination - hopefully not a cat because they eat blue tongues!
gb xxx
-
Oh Jane , how cool was that!? I think lizards are sooo neat.
When I lived in Tennessee , they have little tiny ones , that run very fast. So I never got to catch one. But I love to watch them. I was gonna get one for my son when he was little , but I was afraid it would get lost in the house or my cats stomach!
So are you spending the whole weekend with Oliver? You're such a good friend.xxxx Melody

Melody, thanks for posting the sweet pic of the bluetongue. It's always good to see them in my garden and to know that next door's cats aren't inflicting too much carnage on them.
I am going to the mountains in the morning, just for the day (It would be nice if we heard tomorrow that the owners of the house we want to buy there have accepted our offer but if not, we will continue looking at other places). We will spend the night in Sydney, and the next morning, I'll come back to spend the rest of the weekend with dear old Oliver.
AE - great idea of yours to learn more about each other. Hugs to you and UB.
Wren - what does WIC stand for? Have you trained as a lactation consultant? I would love to do that!
-
Good morning sisters!
What a great idea to post that AE. I have received that in an email recently. I will fill it out and post my answers soon.
I am getting ready to go to court with the ex to TRY and get some child support from him!! He owes me over $9,000.00!! WISH ME LUCK!!
I will stop back in before I leave for the courthouse.

Mel...Thanks for including me in your "things you want to do this year"!! I feel very honored and loved! Also...how is everything where you are. I saw where there were power outages due to the ice storm in your area. You must be ok...thank God!

Hi Lisa,
Am sending you my best thoughts and prayers that the court will be generous and order your ex to pay you a large sum and a reasonable and regular child support payment. Don't get me started on child support! I cannot understand how a parent can not want to help their children!
Must go to bed - it's well after midnight here and I have to get up at 5.30! My night class stimulates me too much and I feel wide awake.
Good luck and big, big hugs
Jane xxx

Lisa, good luck on the child support hearing. I only hope that there are teeth in the laws to make him pay the support. I fought for support when my xh left me with a 3 month old. We would go to court and he would pay enough to get him out of trouble for a couple of months then stop paying again. I ended up filing termination of parental rights when my son was 3 because I was tired of going to my lawer to take my xh to court when he was not going to pay. Sorry to tell my bad story regarding child support but maybe the laws have changed over the past 20 yrs.

geebung, WIC is an acronym for a US nutrition education/food supplement program for "Women, Infants, & Children" designed to help lower income women get the nutrition they need (free food) for themselves and their babies/young children during pregnancy and afterward. I did have some (slight) training from the agency I worked for, but most of what I could share was from my own experience breastfeeding my children, and also from my bachelor's degree which included many nutrition classes and child development classes.
sue, what is spag bol and where is seychelles?
everyone, you have all lived such full and interesting lives--now I just want to know more about everyone...

well...uneventful ladies....just as I thought.
He asked for a court appointed lawyer, which is going to delay things now, for a few more months.
If he told the court the truth...he got a good paying job. So that was good news. They will garnish his wages...and hopefully I will start getting some money soon.
This being the anniversary of my dx...I thought I may be more down...but I am really not. Feel kinda the same. I do see the onc next week to review my bone scan. I will talk to her about possibly getting an anti-depressant. We will see.
Well our ice from the ice storm is melting today. But they are calling for another snow storm starting late today and lasting thru Saturday! Oh my....I know AE, Mel and myself are tired of this!!!!!!!!!!
My daughter Alise is coming home tonight till Sunday. Since I am working shorter day's, I may get to spend some time with her..that is if she is available! haha...she usually, showers, sometimes sleeps, but is hardly ever here when she is home.
Jane..could you send me some warm breezes and sunshine...maybe that will brighten my day.
I love reading all of the answers to AE little questionaire. It's funny, how some of us love the same things..etc. Thanks Valerie..that was a good idea.
Mel...brace yourself for the next few days....GRRRRRRRRRRRR
Sue...darling, I hope you are feeling well...how is your mouth? Better I hope.
Love to you all.

Lisa, My DH is not too happy, he is heading up to the frozen North again! He was up in Chicago area Valentines day, Michigan the following week, Pennsylvania last week, now Northern Ohio this week. He said that he has seen enough snow to last until next winter. Here in the Sunny South today, we have temps in the 70's and the spring flowers are blooming (my crocus bloomed 2 weeks ago and the jonquils are blooming now), though the weather man said that there are chances of snow in the upper elevations this weekend
.
Sheila
-
Oh Sheila...I bet he has seen plenty of snow...traveling where he has!! My oldest daughter is in Chicago...and it has been brutal! I know I am in Ohio..and we should be used to it...but...it's now March...and our temps are below normal. It's getting very old!
Lucky you...seeing the sunshine and the flowers popping up!! Oh....I love that!
Upper elevations...does that include you?
Mel and I are in NE ohio.....she is close to the lake and in the midst of the snowbelt...I am only on the edge of the belt.
all I can say is.......Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
