Hi Ulla , hope your getting some rest.xxx Remember your poor little body has been through so much. Give it a chance to heal and return to normal. You will start losing weight again. Surgery is a shock to the system , so give it sometime to heal. Love you!xxx
Hi gb , It is 5:30pm right now. I think Lisa's surgery will take at least 6 hours. She is getting a tram flap done. I had simular surgery , but I had my mast and recon(diep) at the same time. I was in surgery for 10 hours. Hopefully will hear something soon. I forgot to ask her which hospital she is at. So I could call if we don't hear anything. I'm sure Olivia will post or maybe Lisa will be able to call me.
So your son is in San Diego. Thats where Shirlann is , I think. Is he visiting or working? Hope he is having a good trip.
Karen , been thinking of you today too. Did you hear anything yet? Let us know asap. You know how us worry worts are!lolxxxx
Hi Sue
! Hope today wasn't to stressful for you. I am working nine hour days this week. And I am so tired already and it was only the first day!lol I came home and napped. Hope you can catch a nap. How did it go with Adam? Well , hope your relaxing with a cuppa and Zippy. Did you call your onc for your results? OK , think I'll get a cuppa. xxxx Melody
-
Hi Shirlann. Thanks for stopping in and letting us know what is going on. My dad had trouble with that artery. It made him dizzy upon standing. They gave him some meds and he was fine. Praying its nothing serious. Hugs to you and Walt. Love you , Melody
-
Hi Melody, my, what a long surgery you had! I can see many advantages to having recon done at the time. Nobody suggested it to me before my mastectomy - they just wanted to get my breast off - pronto! At times I am very tempted to go back and have a DIEP but I don't want to upset my lymph any more.
You are having such a busy week Mel - naps are good - even if they are only for 20 minutes - I think they call them "power naps" - better than sleeping for longer apparetly.
I will keep checking back here for news of Lisa. I wonder what time they started the operation? If it was late in the day, there may not be any news for some time yet.
My son loves the USA. He has made so many friends in the 3 weeks he has been there. He was staying with his dad in Montana for the first 2 weeks and is now staying with a friend in S. Diego. He will be home here on Friday - he has to come home and make some money! My other 2 are in Laos. There are lots of landmines there so I hope they will be ok.
Karen and Sue, I so hope that you will get good news soon re your tests.
Will check in throughout the day to see if there is any news.

Hi Jane , yes , my surgery was very long , but I'm glad I had it all done at once. My first reaction was to just have the mast. and my bs asked if I wanted to talk to a ps , and I did. Everything was moving so fast , but like I said , I'm glad I did. I've heard for every hour a person is under anestetic , it takes one week for every hour your under to recover. I believe it! Yes , my naps usually range from 10 to 20 mins. I do feel refreshed.
Its so nice your son can travel and make so many friends. That would be great. Thats my dream , if I ever hit the lottery , Travel! Theres so many people to meet and things to see...
OK, I will check back too. xxx Melody
-
No word yet - I hope everything is ok.
Where is our Sue????
Shirlann - praying everything goes well, keep us posted.

It's after 9pm in Ohio. (That's where Lisa is, I think). Maybe they just started the surgery late - it's a long operation and they may not have started until after 2 or 3pm. I guess that by the time she wakes up and Olivia makes contact it could be after midnight there.
I think Sue went to bed early after what was probably a very stressful day. I hope you have a good sleep dear Sue.
Prayers for all of you who are waiting on tests - Shirlann, Karen, Sue, Karyll and others. Hope you all hear good news soon.

Hi everyone! Its olivia, lisas daughter. I just wanted to inform you on how my mom was doing. She got out of surgery at about 11, and was in the recovery center till about 330. The doctor said she did great during the surgery, and when she got ahold of me she said she was feeling well. The doctors are monitoring her pain levels, but as of right now she can't feel much. From what she can see, she was pleased with the results, considering that was all she could talk about on the phone was her excitement for the outcome:) I'll keep you updated for any further information! thanks, olivia -
Oh that's wonderful! Thank you so much Olivia - so sweet of you to let us all know. Please give your mom my love and tell her she rocks! We all love her! I hope you can get some rest now as it's getting late there.
Hugs,
Jane

(Sue behave yourself!)... Anyway I got home and made loads of pancakes for the boys...do you have pancake day in the US ..... well I tossed them all without dropping them this year ...they usually end up on the floor ...hahaha
It was with sadness that Adam was fired yesterday ...and he left the shop in tears....I did feel sorry for him in some respects ...but I am trying to run a business and well the balance was restored in my head when he left ...cos deep down I can't put up with that ....I will miss him dearly though xxx

Lots of Love xxx
-
Sue, I knew that you would beat the sadness that you have been feeling! We tried to uplift you until you felt our love and concern for you. We don't have an offical pancake day but I do love to fix pancakes for supper once in a while.
Sheila
-
Oh Sue - you made me smile! So great to see you feeling happy! It just shows what a strong body you have - in spite of the weeks of chemical assaults!
Sorry to hear that Adam was so upset but it should be a real wake-up call for him and, hopefully, he will be much more responsible in his next job. I am sure you treated him fairly and he knows you were completely justified.
My sister is arriving this morning. She will be here until next Monday so we'll be yacking non-stop. I haven't seen her since December so we will have a lot of catching up to do!
I hope dear Lisa is resting comfortably - can't wait to hear from you precious sister!
Hugs to all.

Sheila xxx I am going to have to make pancakes more than once a year...they were lovely.... do you have anything nice on yours... I want some more LOL...
I am so grateful to you all for keeping me from breaking apart completely on some of the worst days of my life!
I have CMF in 6 days ...so I am going to have to start reading up...I pray to god the s/e aren't as nasty...(please please god ...please)
gb....What a wonderful relationship you and your sis have...I would walk the earth for a sisters love as yours...my sister lives a 20 or so min drive away ..... and she has not once cared openly for what I am going through...In September she had a boob job...while I had a mastectomy ....and flaunted right in front of me...very tactless....and for the first time in my life ...since I have faced my own mortality ...I feel I dont want to mix much with people that go out of their way to upset ...or are just utterly self centred...so she text me last week ..never asking how I was as usual.... but asked me to go to genetic counselling with her in February .... I told her I was having chemo next week and she flipped... oh dear ...nothing changes...call it sibling rivalry....I would move heaven and earth for her everytime she has problems....theres nothing sibling on her behalf! Its all very sad...xxx
I have to go to bed within the hour...if I will ever to get up in the morning..I bet I dont fall asleep that early though xxx
Do you think Karylls' laptop may have broke ....just cant stop thinking about her xxx
-
Sue, I do like to put homemade strawberry jam on my pancakes. and on nights when I make them I usually eat too many
, no wonder I am putting on weight - too many carbs.
My sister has been great through my bootface journey. She lives about 2 miles from me and while I was unable to drive, she would pick me up and take me to church, call and see if I had any supper plans and if I did not have any plans, she would stop and pick something up on her way home from work and drop it off at the house or pick me up and I would spend the evening with her. Several times she said that she wished it would have happened to her and not me. She is 16 months older but we are more like twins. I think she worries about me since I had major surgery when I was 11 for double scolisis (crooked spine) and spent 3 months in a full body cast and 3 months in a walking cast.
Sue, get a good night's sleep, I know what it is to get up before the sun to get to work and it is not fun.
Sheila
-
Ok ..its 10 19pm ....11 mins to my EBT (expected bed time ) hahaha..I wont be laughing in the morning!!
Sheila...home made jam...oooohhhhh..sounds devine...OMG I could just eat a whole load....why have I got such an appetite...maybe my body is rid of bootface and it is functioning better xxx
BUT SHEILA ...I just want to say .... you and your sister ...well you have a relationship I would give anything for....but surely this is what sisters are supposed to be like...yes maybe...I actually dont take my sisters meaness selfish behaviour personally as she is like this with everyone....you would shudder if I told you how much she fleeces from men before dumping them...gold digga comes to mind...I am just being factual here...not nasty ...cos ya know I love her it is unconditional....I would still help her etc ..I just wish she would do the same xxxx
I will have to adopt a sister~! lol
Right 5 mins of cuppa tea drinking while I read some threads.....you gotta be strong Sue ...get to bed soon!!!! Or you will have bags under ya eyes..bin bags !! ...lolol
Much Love xxx
-
Yuck! Early morning start time! Poor Sue!!!! I'm so very happy that you are in such good spirits today. I knew you'd break free of that dark cloud that's been surrounding you. You have such a wonderful future ahead of you--and no more bootface!!!!!!
xoxoxox

Sue - what a mean spirited sister you have,
shall we call her the Wicked Witch of the North?? DH & I decided awhile back that we didn't need anyone in our lives that thrived on negative energy. So, even though it was hard we stopped associating with some of our friends that felt that way. We decided that life is too short and we don't need to be surrounded by it. Nothing but positive vibes for us. It really does help.
I hope our Lisa is resting comfortably.
And yes, wasn't it nice to hear from Valsul - sure hope she posts again.
gotta run,
TTYS,
Aunty Em

you're welcome! i talked to my mom today and she said she was feeling a bit nauseous, but she finally got to eat .( after 56 hours!) She has been able to get up with assistance and go to the bathroom and walk throughout the halls. The doctor said he was very pleased with the way everything turned out. My cousin was in there with my mom to watch her surgery, and held her hand while she fell asleep. She said she is enjoying her flat tummy and perky boobs
and that the doctor did a great job! She is hoping to stay awake for American Idol tonight. My mom wanted to thank Jane in New York for the package that you sent her and that she will be able to use all of those things when she gets home. Also that oliver loves those treats from betsy! She misses everyone and once she is able to sit up, she can't wait to talk to you guys! I'll let you know of any further information!!! olivia
-
Thanks so much, Olivia! Tell your mom that we miss her too. It sounds like she's doing really well. I'm SO glad!!!
Tell our sweet Lisa to take good care of herself and you take care of yourself and Oliver too!
Love and hugs,
Karen
PS You're a wonderful daughter, Olivia. I can only hope that my 14 year old ends up being as sweet, smart, and responsible as you!
-
Olivia,
Thanks so much for the update on your Mom. I can just picture her walking the halls yacking away!!! LOL. Let her know we miss her and are happy that she is doing so well.
Your the best,
Valerie aka Aunty Em
-
Olivia - thanks again so much for updating us about your dear mother. So thrilled to hear that she is doing well - a flat tummy and perky boobs!!! Wow! I almost feel inspired to have it done myself! Please give her a gentle hug from me too. Can't wait to have her back on these boards.
Sue, I felt sad when I read about your sister. You must take after your gorgeous father! I can't understand her - you are SO loveable, have such a great personality and sense of humour. All I can say is that she is missing out big time. Families are wierd things aren't they. My sister is the only member of my family that I really gel with - she is 10 years older than I am and was always more of a mother to me than my own mother. Our relationship is much more mature and equal now - I'm not really her little sister any more.
Hi Pearl, Sheila, Ulla, Karen (have you heard anything yet?), Auntie Em, Angie, Melody, Lucy (hope you had fun in the pool - brrr - hard to think of swimming in cold weather - even in a heated one!), Barbie, Dawn, Valsul, Mia, Tender, Karyll (where are you dear sister?) and Cyndy. I hope you are all doing ok.
Love to all of you - wish I could meet each of you in person!
Jane
-
Sue, I know that you are at work right now, but you can be my sister. I always wanted a younger sister to help with her problems. I like the idea of calling your sister the wicked witch of the north
.
Olivia, thanks for the update, I wish that I could have had the flat belly and perky boobs. All I got was the perky boobs
. My ps said that because of the scoliosis I was not a good candidate for the flap procedure. If I want the flat belly, I will have to go through the tummy tuck without the benefits of enhancing my boobs.
Love to all who read this thread and get laughs from us. I echo Jane's wish to meet everyone in person!
Sheila
-
I agree with Sheila. I think we'd all love to adopt you as our sister, Sue. I can't believe that your sister doesn't appreciate you as much as we do. I really think that she'll regret the way she treats you one day.
Love and hugs,
Karen
-
I second that! I always wanted a little sister too. Sue, we appreciate you hugely!
Have you rung anyone about your scan yet?
Yesterday, I drove my sister out to see her latest little grandson. He is six weeks old - a dear little baby. We had lots of cuddles.
I am tired this morning. Sat up late watching Bridget Jones' Diary which was on tv. I love that film. My sister isn't staying at my house as she is supposed to be with her husband at a conference he is attending nearby but she doesn't really have to be there during the day.
Hope everyone's week is going ok.
Love,
Jane xxx
