Agree...agree!  That is how we look at it!  You can't have too many people in your life who love you!  I got a thank you note from Susan(his mom) for Christmas gifts..and the first sentence, was.."We are so greatful that Matthew comes from such a loving family".  I am soooo blessed.  I do feel it was all part of God's plan! He hand picked them for us!  We are celebrating this Sunday, and my daughter is coming home from college for the party!

Karen, I was thinking you were 41 for some reason!  U do NOT look like Chase's grandmother. How old is Chase?  My sister is having her baby (c-section) on Saturday!! She is 43! First one!  So happy for her!

Hi Poppy!  I don't think Ryan is very tall.  I would say maybe 5'7", not sure.

Karen..I have had dupes happen too! lol

How great, Lisa.  That warms my heart.  My niece is fostering to adopt twin babies.  The situation is way different than yours though--biological mom is in prison.  She wants them back, but I don't think it's going to happen.  The twins have two other, older siblings.  She has already taken them once to see their grandma, aunt, and two sisters.  She has every intention to continue to encourage these relationships, even if they end up adopting the babies.  I think it's so important for adopted kids to know where they come from--unless it's from a totally dysfunctional and unhealthy place.

I think you're right, Lisa.  Ryan looks to be about 5'7".  That's how tall I am and I doubt seriously that he's taller than me.  He might even be a bit shorter.  Didn't Jordan Sparks tower over him last season?  I know she's about 5'10" or so.

Karen, good for your niece.  That is a hard situation.  I agree..very healthy to know your roots.  Matthew's mom, does scrapbooks..and she is doing one for him..like she is doing for her older son, and then she is doing a "life book" that tells him the story of us, his birth-mom, etc!  I love to scrapbook. Does anyone else here do that?  I am behind...I do the girls whole life from birth to graduation as a graduation gift.  I haven't started Olivia's yet!Surprised  I have the pics together (kinda).  I did it for my older two, and Alise's, I started her senior year!  But I finished them (2-books)!! I work good under pressure..haha.

Oh Poppy...how I wish I had that door! LOL!! I need it at times!  I am so sick of dealing with whiners!  People expect there bags to be perfect when they travel. Bags are made to hold contents..period!  If people only knew what bags go through from point a to b...it's a long journey and lots of handling!

Poppy, you kill me!  I can just see you doing that!  I used to work with mental health patients.  Talk about rude!  Maybe if you were a little bit nicer, your life wouldn't be such a mess and you wouldn't need counseling!!  I've gone through periods of depression in my life, but I never took it out on people who were there to help me!

I laughed so hard. I thought it was hysterical. And Simon just sat there with that look on his face. Sue , let us know if we are telling you to much. It is early in the show yet , but I don't want to spoil anything for you. I had to fix the guestroom last night and I missed the "stalker"? What was that all about? I woke up this morning to 4 inches of heavy snow Laughing!!! but by 8:00 am the snow has turned to sleet/freezing rain. I still had to come to work, at least I only had to drive half a mile. The weatherman said that this should go on all day and the sleet is melting the snow Frown. the temp is hovering around 30. It did not get as cold as they predicted.

Good morning everyone.  I hope everyone is feeling well this morning.  Sue, did you sleep in?  Here's hoping the fever breaks and that you're feeling renewed, refreshed, and healthy by the time you return to work on Saturday.  SATURDAY, Sue!  Not Friday!!!!  You need at least a couple days to recover from this flu.

So sorry to hear that Olivia is still sick, Lisa.  Poor baby!  Uck--I don't envy you your day of tests at the hospital.  Luckily, I don't even have to go for a pre-op appt prior to my bladder sling surgery next month.  I guess the procedure itself only takes about 20 minutes.  Hopefully, I'll be in and out of there in record time.

Sheila, you're just like me.  I used to have a 45 minute commute and I'd still go in on the snowy days.  It got a bit dicey at times, but I was always there (even if the patients weren't--I worked in a mental health clinic).  Is the freezing rain supposed to continue throughout the day?  If so, you'd better be careful on your drive home this evening.

I can't wait to hear what you all thought of American Idol last night.  What was up with that guy who kept "warming up" and mumbling to himself?  That guy needs to be medicated!!!  Lol!!!!!  And the goofy Asian guy at the end wearing that horrible outfit that looked like something out of a cheesy Vegas show (or Elton John in the 70's).  Simon was his hero!  OMG, I laughed so hard when Randy and Paula got in on the act.  I think they were getting a bit loopey after sitting there listening to people for 12 hours.  I also loved the girl who'd been in that accident and almost died as a teenager.  She was just so cute!  I was so impressed with Simon last night.  He actually has a heart!  In a couple of cases, he was being even nicer than Paula.  I was amazed.

Take care girls.  I'll check back in later.

    Hugs,

    Karen

It's 3.30am here and I woke up about an hour ago and can't go back to sleep. Lisa, good luck with all the tests at the hospital - hope everything goes really, really well for you. May you have the best recon possible! I can't remember what type you are having.

I wish I had the guts to have reconstruction. Mostly I try not to think about my mutilated body but every now and then I will have a sudden sad thought and tears will come and I wish I could be a have it done. The main thing that is stopping me is that ever since my surgery in April last year I have had lymph build up in my scar and under my arm and I don't want to make it worse with more surgery. It's actually been quite good this week so maybe it's finally starting to abate. I would so hate to get lymphodema. Instead I try to see a type of beauty in my body - something strong which is a symbol of survival and hopefully a stronger me. I don't feel very strong at the moment though - the early morning hours are a bad time to be awake thinking too much!

Sorry to hear that Olivia is still sick. I am sure the sight of her dear mother coming in the door will help her to feel a little better.

Sheila, it's hard to imagine such cold weather at the moment as I sit here in my summer nightdress. Although it is almost cool at this time of the morning. It's raining and I can hear the gutters overflowing. Sounds as though you would prefer to have crisp snow than the sleet. I guess you will have to be very careful of black ice. I was surprised to learn that most people don't put chains on their tyres in snowy climates - I don't know how the all-weather tyres manage not to slip and slide on the roads. Although we do hear of multi car pile-ups sometimes.

Sue, I am sending you many healing wishes - I so hope that you can really rest and feel better. I'm really really angry with your boss - how can he sleep at night, knowing that he has robbed his hard working staff? The whole situation really stinks. I think we should all storm across to England and demand that he pays you every last cent!

My middle son, Heath, sent me a text message yesterday to say that he is loving every minute of his trip to the US. He was in LA and said that everyone is being SO nice to him! When he arrived at LA he bumped into a girl who used to go to his school and she had just had a baby. What a small world!

Thinking of you all. I just checked on world times and it's just after 9am Thursday on the west coast and lunch time on the east coast of the US, 6pm in Sweden and in London it's just after 5pm - all on Thursday. So some of you are just starting work, others are having lunch and it's already dark where Ulla and Sue live. It's 4am Friday here - sigh!

Well, I am going to have a warm cup of something and try to go back to sleep.

    love to all

    Hello Karen!

Wish I could see AI too. I hope they put it on here later in the year here - it sounds very entertaining!

Sorry to hear you have to have more surgery but it doens't sound too major. You will be finished your chemo then, won't you. Do you have to had rads? If so, when does that start?

gb!!  You silly goose, what are you doing up this early??  I hate waking up before the crack of dawn and not being able to go back to sleep.

I'm having my bladder surgery three weeks to the day after my last round of chemo.  I don't have a set start date for my rads yet.  I'm shooting for 2-3 weeks after my surgery.  Gosh, I'll be so glad when things slow down and I only have to check in with the onc every 3-6 months.  I used to go YEARS without a single doctor's appt.  Aahhh, those were the days!

Good to hear from you Karen. Hope the surgey goes really well for you. It is like being caught up in a wirlwind isn't it? All the surgeries, treatments and feeling ill. Won't it be a relief when it's all over and life can return to a semblance of order...but then I guess life will never be quite the same. We will always be looking over our shoulders and will never take good health for granted again.

Ok - can't sleep so I am going to clean my house - it will lift my spirits to come home to less chaos.

    Hugs,

I live at the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains and we do not get a lot of snow here except when it comes up from Georgia.  the actual mountains get more than we do (I live about 30 miles from the ski areas). The snow usually does not last long but it is aggravating when we do get any because some people do not know how to drive in the white stuff. We usually get about 1 or 2 snowfalls a year of about 2 inches at a time. The sleet has stopped but now everything is a slushy mess.

Just took a break. Sheila - hope the slush melts and drains away quickly. I can't believe it was so cold when we were in Canada (Toronto area) with the heaviest snowfalls for 60 years and now all that snow has melted and it's about 10 degrees (C).

It's raining buckets here. I want to go back to bed but I can't - have to attend this course I am doing.

Have a good night everyone over there.

We can see Mt. Rainier here in Graham, gb.  My parents have a wonderful view of it from their kitchen window.  When you head west a ways, you can see the Cascade mountain range on a clear day.  It's quite pretty.  It really is a nice place to live, but it's become overly populated as large parcels of land in our area have become scarce.  You have to come all the way out here to find anything over a half acre for a decent price.  When my parents bought their ten acres out here over 20 years ago, it was VERY rural.  I was so depressed to be moving out to the COUNTRY where there was absolutely nothing!  Now there are restaurants, stores, a mall--everything.

Try to have fun at your boring course today.  It's to prepare you to re-enter the workplace, right?  Sounds pretty dry, but I'm sure you'll gain some good information from it.

    Take care.  You too, Sheila.

Karer, your area sounds beautiful.  I live in the suburban capital of the world - lol - nothing but housing developments & strip malls.  I have no mountains but I do have the Jersey shore which I love.  Its about 40 minutes from me.

Sheila - I have been to the Blue Ridge in Va. - its breathtaking. Someday I want to visit Ashville.  I hear its beautiful there.

Sue- hope your sleeping like a baby.
