Shirlann...spooky that you post about presents exactly the time I started to wrap them!! We are connected ..... love ya xxx
-
HI Sue
! Glad your wrapping is done and you're on your way to bed. Good luck tomorrow. The only good thing about being so busy at work , is that it usually makes the day go faster. Take care.xxxx
Ulla , I'm so glad you were able to come to the computer and tell us what happened. I'm so sorry. I hope all will be ok. That had to be scary. I think you deserve a BIG group hug from all of your sisters here. I will start it , with prayers and positive thoughts coming your way.

Evening ladies,
Ulla - OMG - I feel just terrible for you. I hate this damn disease. What it makes you go thru is just not right. But I am SO glad that they figured out what went wrong so it NEVER happens again. Please know I am praying for you and post when you feel up to it.
Sue - hope you are fast asleep. But I have to ask, what on earth are spondoolies ??? LOL.
To all our other ladies- I hope you will be back on track by weeks end.
By the way, I haven't wrapped a singe gift yet either, and I'm not even going thru treatment. How pathetic am I.
Hugs all around,
Valerie
-
Honey, don't for a moment think you are getting out of wrapping presents. Silly goose, you will wrap for two daugter-in-laws, ten grandchildren, and you will think back and say, "what a goof I was, and laugh".
I PROMISE, and I never break a promise.
Go sleep, little princess, love, Shirlann -
Ulla! I'm so sorry you had such a terrible reaction. I am glad you could finally feel a little bit better so you could post and let us all know what happened. You are in my prayers.
Sue, you are so spunky that I just know you will be around for years to come! Your cheerful, positive attitude is so clear in your posts...
Only four more days until Christmas! Time is flying by...
-
Ulla, So sorry to hear about your reaction to the tx. Hopefully the next one will go better.
Sue, you have all your packages wrapped! I would be up until 1:00 am Christmas day wrapping packages for my one son when he was little!
I had the nipples done yesterday and am feeling great. I have gauze pads now taped to my breasts and cannot shower until Sunday and no bra's until I go back to see him on Wed. I took one anti-nausa pill when I left the hospital at 2:00 pm (anesthetic makes me sick) and one pain pill at 7:00. Slept all night and am at work today.
I will be off line until next Thurs when I come back to work to enter orders for one day before the New Year.
Merry Christmas to all my good friends on line.
Sheila

I'm guessing spondoolies is money? I imagine it's a busy day at the 'ol Subway!
I'm so proud of you, Sue, for getting all your wrapping done. I wrapped a total of six presents yesterday--pretty sad, huh? I took Tylenol PM last night and feel pretty well today, so I'm hoping to finish them up today.
Sweet Ulla, I hope you're feeling better today. I was so relieved to read your post last night on the October chemo girls thread. God Bless you, dear girl! It will get better--I promise!
Hugs and love to you all,
Karen

Sue - I received the book in the mail today!!! Pretty quick, don't you think?? Thank you for you beautiful note.
And thank you so much for sending it....and thanks to Poppy as well. I will gladly pass it on when I'm done with it to anyone that is interested, just pm me your address.
Well. I bit later I go for a hair cut. Only the second one since I finished my treatment last February. I really want it to grow but it is sooo unruley, I can't do anything with it. I so want my straight hair back, darn bootface made it grow back curly.
By the way Sue, I had to go out and buy what you call sellotape,( we call it scotch tape here) I had none in the house.
Wrapping is on my agenda for tomorrow.
I'll try to stop by later,
Aunty Em
-
Goodness Aunty Em....that was real quick!!! Wow I am well impressed..I only posted it last week...and was told it would probably arrive after Christmas .... it would have taken 8 weeks on a ship....I think its wonderful to be able to send things to you all so quick...and for under a fiver!! XXXX
If my hair grows back curly I will be mad...and I will go to the hairdressers and get it neatly curled and cut in a bob...cos I would not tolerate it...I hope you have a nice haircut....XXX STUPID BOOTFACE GOOD FOR NOTHING !!!.....oh my how brave you all are .....I am so lucky to have found you all....
I am going to download a map of America and have it as my desktop ...and work out where you all are....Aunty Em...I still have the beautiful kitty picture you emailed once as my desktop...it always reminds me of you when I boot up.....that was such an age ago wasnt it...WHERE DOES ALL THIS PRECIOUS TIME GO....life is such a jot in the scheme of things....
I have had a lovely bath and I am thinking of you all xxxx
-
Spoodoolies, money??? Sellotape, Scotchtape??? hehehee, are we all still so sure we all speak English??? HAHAHAHA
Poor Ulla, with this language, who knows?
Well, little sweet Sue, you sound better, but you are working too hard, when you go to work, quietly put a "CLOSED TODAY" sign on the front door and look surprised when no one comes in. Then, go in the back and take a nap on the lettuce.
You are loved, and Ulla, and Karen and all our dear sisters, I am getting sappy as Christmas approaches. I so love you all! Damn it, I can't get this d off my computer, what the? I am ready to throw this thing over the couch.
Hugs, Shirlann

My Sue, you yourself must be handily responsible for the booming English economy! So, so busy you are!
Read back some and saw you mentioned Vitamin C and if it's o.k. during chemotherapy. Actually, that was the one vitamin my oncologist specifically mentioned keeping to 500 mg a day. Otherwise he said it interferes I believe with the ridding of the "free radicals" floating around from the cell destruction. Just thought I'd pass this on.
Glad you got your holiday purchases done and wrapped; loved Shirlanns way of handling presents. So creative.
Ulla, I hope it's just more pleasant from here on. You surely have gone through too much.
Happy Holidays to all.
Tender -
Wow guys I haven't seen our thread so low on this topic.
I went out on a Christmas works party and Sue you would have loved it!
I was sightly drunk I didn't get in until 3.30am this morning and got up for work at 7.30am!
Dancing in Bournemouth all night to cheesy music. Tiger feet, All I want for Xmas is you!
Yes very very cheesy
Then got a nice big greasy kebab on the way home!
How are you feeling today?
Ulla I hope you are picking up...
X
-
Poppy, you little party animal!! I'm getting old--can't even imagine being able to go to work after four hours of sleep. Ah, to be young again!
Hugs,
Karen

Oh my ladies...HELLOOOOOOOOOO
It has been awhile. I feel like I am burning the candle at both ends, between work, Christmas, my girls home, parties..haha..oh my!!
Trying to catch up on all the goins on here. Ulla..oh my sweetie..I am soo sorry you had such a bad experience with taxotere!! Shame on them for not asking you if you had taken your steroids!! I had 4 doses of Taxotere. They kept telling me..oh this will be so much easier than your 4 tx's of A/C! So, that is what I had in my head! Well...it was easier, because I was not feeling sickly...but I thought it was much harder in other ways. I hurt so badly all over, my hips my legs, my mouth, my feet, my hands...horrible!! Very tired too! But...yes, yes...I had to take steroids day before, day of and day after!! I am soooo glad you are doing better!! Are they still going to give you the taxotere?
Sue...I hope you don't work yourself too hard...silly saying that..I know you will! What day is your next tx? I do hope you can relax and enjoy Christmas with your 2 darling little men!! Sheila....enjoying your new nipples?! haha!
Val...I hope you are getting your wrapping done. I just finished mine last night!
Hello to everyone else..Karen..hope you are feeling better! Thanks for the email, and reminder..I will get those pics out to you. You may have to remind me again..haha.
Melody...hi sweetie!! Did you get the email and pic? I resent it to you. let me know.
Shirlann...how much longer for the kitty to be banished to the garage?? Hopefully soon, he will be ruinited with you and Dusty.
I like your idea of Sue putting up a closed sign. I smile when I picture her asleep in the lettuce!!
Love to all of my special friends here!!
xoxo

Hi Sue
! I'm sure you are feeling tired. You have been so busy and tx on top on that. Yuck. Hope you have a relaxing evening and day off tomorrow. You are off right? Good luck with you tx the 28th. I go to the hospital Christmas eve for pre-admission tests. I am having port removal surgery the 27th. My chest itches soooo bad from it , and it looks like it is going to pop through my skin! I can't wait to get it out. Sue , I hope you and your boys have a very Merry Christmas. Your OH too. Will your Dad be over for the holiday? Much love and hugs,Melody
-
Melody!! Did you ever get my email? You still have that darn port in? I bet you are "itching" (haha) to get it out! Are the pretesting for the port removal? I didn't have that, in fact mine was outpatient, and I was awake. I hated having that in, and was so relieved to get it out this past month!
Sue..I am glad you don't have your next tx until after x-mass. You are on the 3 week plan, I think?
-
Poppy , that sounds like sooo much fun! I'm glad you had a good time. And that you are still young enough to go on 4 hours of sleep! I'm with Karen. To old , would have called in!xxxx
Ulla , hope your feeling better. It was so good to hear from you. I hope its onward and upward from here on.xxxx
Hi Lisa , yes , I recieved the pics. He is adorable. I am so happy for you. I will e-mail when I get all the madness done cleaning , shopping , cooking etc... Hope your having a great day. I bet your tree in full of ornaments!xxxx
Hi Shirlann , I hope you and Walt , Dusty and Cleo are all having a peaceful and fun holiday season. Merry Christmas to you and your family.xxxx
Hi Tender , hope all is well with you. I think its fantastic about the June rally in Washington. You are such a big help to so many. Merry Christmas to you and your family.xxxx
-
Melody...I was hoping it made it. I have had some trouble with my work email for a few days. Thanks, he is my pride and joy!! I had fun babysitting the other day. He is soooo independent!! He (this is my almost 3yr old grandson) asked if I would get him a puppy for christmas! Haha..I would love too! But I told him, that is something Mommy & Daddy have to decide on, maybe later. Oh my gosh...I would buy him the moon if I could! We call him Amish...because he hates to have his picture taken..he is soo funny!
Anyhow..happy, baking, wrapping and cleaning! Never ending...but fun all the same!
-
I posted this awhile ago...but thought I would put it on here for all my wonderful dear, strong ladies!!

I hope you all enjoy these words as much as I did. WE ARE THE STRENGTH OF THE WORLD!!
ONE FLAW IN WOMEN
By the time the Lord made woman,
He was into his sixth day, and working overtime.
An angel appeared and said,
"Why are you spending so much time on this one?"
And the Lord answered, "Have you seen my spec sheet on her?
She has to be completely washable, but not plastic,
Have over 200 movable parts, all replaceable
And able to run on diet coke and leftovers,
Have a lap that can hold four children at one time,
Have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart
-and she will do everything
With only two hands."
The angel was astounded at the requirements.
"Only two hands!? No way!
And that's just on the standard model?
That's too much work for one day.
Wait until tomorrow to finish."
But I won't," the Lord protested.
"I am so close to finishing this creation that is so close to my own heart.
She already heals herself when she is sick
AND can work 18 hour days."
The angel moved closer and touched the woman.
"But you have made her so soft, Lord."
"She is soft," the Lord agreed,
"but I have also made her tough.
You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish."
"Will she be able to think?", asked the angel.
The Lord replied,
"Not only will she be able to think,
She will be able to reason and negotiate."
The angel then noticed something,
And reaching out, touched the woman's cheek.
"Oops, it looks like you have a leak in this model.
I told you that you were trying to put too much into this one."
"That's not a leak,"
The Lord corrected,
"that's a tear!"
"What's the tear for?" the angel asked.
The Lord said, "The tear is her way of expressing her joy,
Her sorrow, her pain, her disappointment, her love,
Her loneliness, her grief and her pride."
The angel was impressed.
"You are a genius, Lord.
You thought of everything!
Woman is truly amazing."
And she is!
Women have strengths that amaze men.
They bear hardships and they carry burdens,
But they hold happiness,
Love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy
And laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up to injustice.
They don't take "no" for an answer
When they believe there is a better solution.
They go without so their family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel
And cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about
A birth or a wedding .
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member,
Yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss
Can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you
To show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning.
They bring joy, hope and love.
They have compassion and ideals.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have vital things to say and everything to give.
HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN,
IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH. -
Love it!! We women are pretty great, aren't we? Thanks for sharing, Lisa--I haven't read that particular one before.
You were awake during your port removal? I'll have to ask my surgeon about that. I hate general anesthesia--it always makes me nauseous. I can't wait to be done with this bloody chemo and have mine taken out. It's so ugly the way it protrudes. HATE it!
Hugs,
Karen
-
Thanks Karen...I loved that too! Shows us how wonderful we women are!
Yes, I was awake. I was wheeled into the OR in a wheelchair, hoped up on the table, was introduced to the staff. It was a bit strange! They explained everything, and they gave me a local. That hurt..it was like a very long bee sting! It took awhile, to take effect. My surgeon kept testing, and asking, can u feel that? Yes...at least 4 times. Then she gave me another dose of the local. It took, and she removed the port, but it was kinda freaky!! I felt the tug and pull! Luckily, one of my neighbors just happened to be in the surgery room. She was up at my head, talking to me and trying to keep my mind off of it. I would reccomend having a twilight sleep for this, or at least take something to totally relax you prior!
I HATED MY PORT!! IT DROVE ME CRAZY! It's weird, even now, I still get the same odd sensations in that area that I did before.
xoxo

Wow! Just caught up with just some of the huge number of posts! I was both thrilled and sad to hear from you Ulla - what a horrible, horrible time you have had - poor sweet darling. I hope you continue to feel better.
Sheila, the bond you have with your son is wonderful - wish I could wave a magic wand and teleport him home to you for Christmas. My 3 sons are all in Indonesia too but they are having a lazy holiday in Bali. I pray that no terrorist attacks occur anywhere in the world this Christmas. I have a very close bond with my 3 and even though we won't be together at Christmas it makes me happy to know they are having a well-earned rest because they all work so hard.
Sue, go to the top of the class for resting so well on your day off and a big gold star as well! You must rest more often!!
Poppy - so glad your tooth is feeling better.
Mommy Mia, I am thinking of you and so sorry you have had a bad time lately. I am back in Australia now and it feels strange to look out and not see snow and not to have to walk carefully so as not to slip over on the ice. I love Canada! I wish I could have crossed the border into the US as well but time and money didn't allow.
Shirlann - loved hearing about the first interaction between Cleo and your dog - they are sure to be friends.
Karen, so glad you are feeling a little better.
I want to comment on all your posts but I am still jet-lagged and incoherent!
Lots and lots of love and hugs to all of you sweet, dear sisters.
