I AM SO IMPATIENT ..... I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IMPATIENT....JUNE ...JUNE!!!!! ARGGHHHHHHHHHHH 6 MONTHS !!!!
HELP ME!!!
Tell me everyone as I am interested ...what chemo and how long....something just lit up in my head...maybe I have to do X amount longer cos I cant have hormone treatment...which reminds me ...I think I have gotten the menopause going on...I was sooooooooo hot in work today....I will have to buy a fan.... Melody yours blowing hot air made me laugh out loud lol....xxx
-
Sue,
Glad to hear that you are better today. I know it seems like an eternity but you will get to OZ- I promise. You were dx back in Sept. right?? And its all ready the end of Dec.!!
I was very fortunate. I only had a lumpectomy with 4 rounds of chemo. I also had 36 Rad treatments. Rad's are a breeze. It takes longer to change your clothes then to have the actual treatment. The biggest problem with rad's is the fatigue. But, its not the same kind of fatigue you get from chemo. Its weird, you'll be going along doing your thing with no problems then all of a sudden you just get tired. Its hard to explain.
So, your an Idol fan, huh?? I have to admit, every season I say I'm not going to watch it, but I always do. I just saw in yesterdays paper that Clay Aiken is going to appear on Broadway in Monty Phython's Spamalot!! DH & I saw it last year and I can't imagine Clay being a part of it. Doesn't seem to fit.
Better get back to work,
Aunty Em

Hi Sue
! I am home today. My OH had to have a shot in his back for his leg pain. So I had to take him and drive him home. What a trip that was! It was still dark when we started out , snowing , and we got lost down a twisty , turny road that led to a metro park!We ended up so far out of our way because there was no place to turn around
! We finally made it. I kept thinking of "Silent Night ,Deadly Night" , and that some mass murderer would jump out , flag us down and then kill us! Wild imagination , naaa , not me...
Sue , right now you are taking what we refer to as "the red devil" in your chemo. But I think that is only for the first part. Others I have talked with say the second step chemo isn't as bad. Hope thats your case too.xxxx
Poppy , love the new Avatar! Sexy mama!
-
Melody...thankyou thankyou....I have 2 red devils to go then....thank heavens .... oh but thats 2 bouts with the devil...and I cant even think of the first bout....
Oh Melody...lol....I can just imagine how scared you must make yourself...lol....I hope all your doors were locked....I would have been sweating with fear.....I almost thought you said your O/H had been shot in the back
I hope he has recovered ..LOL
Well Valerie...I loved the Clay Aitken season with Rueben...and I loved Fantasia...but I am sure that wasnt her first name....the girl that won it with that beautiful song...'I believe' ...and I just remembered RANDY ...thats whats going down dawg lol....
What was fantasias' full name.... I am going to go on the American Idol website and have a look...my memory erm erm what was I saying LOL...
Right I am definitely getting up to have a bath...I have still got my coat and scarf on ...... and I have been in 2 hours ....xxx
yes sexy mama...lol...Poppy you have just been renamed...sexy mama lol...or is that the same as yummy mummy
xxxx

I am actually going to ask my onc next time if I can just have the 4 red devil and not bother with the other lot....I dont know why he is wanting me to do chemo til June....I did ask for a copy of my report last time...but got told I didnt need to know everything...well excuse me but I wanted to know....so I gave up....
-
Oh boy Sue , if it was me , and they told me that about giving me a copy of my report , I would of said , well if I don't get a copy you won't see me again! That is your personal medical info and you have every right to have a copy , no matter what it says. Don't get me started , I'll be calling them!! But there must be a reason for the second step chemo. And as much as you don't want it , could it be because of the triple neg? Get that report girl!
I love Simon! hee-hee , hes so gutsy and obnoxious!
-
Yes I love the 'Its spitting!!!' one. He is just amazing.
I have been cleaning up sick all day today! My youngest has some sort of bug he has a temperature of 103c.
At least its this week.......
I like that sexy mamma!! Ha ha. I would be if I lost about 2 stone! I just can't stop eating crap! Choccys off the tree and the tins of chocolates that EVERYONE has at their house.
Also has anyone noticed that when you have cancer everyone wants to take you for lunch??? I'm not complaining I'll take the Perks! There aren't many lets be honest LOL
Lovin'' Ya'll (OMG I'm turning American) too much time on this site!!! LOL
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX -
I used to like Simon Cowell
His cut the crap attitude is very much a british thing. Well it was when he first started but now he totally over does it, he's acting so much now that he just sounds like a bitchy queen!
English seem a lot like New Yorkers. Don't sugar coat it just say it as it is! -
Sue are you anywhere near Beverly, Hull?
-
Poppy...you know what...I am going to have to put a Peter Kay dvd on tonight now....lol..I really am...if I can work out how to use the dvd player....I havent used it for about a year....you know I really need to get this life /work balance sorted....but that is what I will do later...
Well Hull is appx 100miles from Bolton....I took the boys there once...we drove over Humber Bridge....wow how scared of heights am I !! I have taken the boys all over the UK....we went up to Scotland once....and drove over the highest suspension bridge going...well I shut my eyes driving across it...it was so high and swinging....I had to get someone to drive my car back the other way on the return...I have never shook so much...
I did have a five year plan for the first nine months of this year!! Which was to see the boys throught school..save up loads and then move back to Sussex....I lived there for a couple of years and loved it so much...now my five year plan is a little botched up to say the least...
I will just have to get on with this deck of cards I have for now... who knows what will happen....
Poppy I hope baby is feeling better and that you dont catch it....I always used to get what David had and vice versa...Daniel is made of stronger stuff...lol...
Right I am going to make something to eat and try and get my head level now I am feeling a tad better....touch wood!!
Much Love xxx

Just caught up on eveyones posts. Was so sad for you Sue, when I read how horrible you were feeling but very glad that you have started to feel a little bit better. Please take that advice (can't remember who said it) about asking for as much help as you can get to relieve those nasty side effects.
I too am worrying about Ulla. I so hope she is just having a break and not feeling ghastly.
Sorry to hear that your little one is sick Poppy. Poor little bloke - hope he is better soon.
Melody, so glad you are safe after your nerve-wracking drive.
We had a hair-raising drive back today - my nephew was speeding along the slippery, snow-caked roads. My sister & I were hanging on to each other, silently yelping each time he swerved from lane to lane. I experienced my first real snow storm over the weekend - it was beautiful and exciting. In a few days I will be back in the sweaty heat of home.
Hugs everyone,
gb

Hi ladies. Geez, it took me a half hour to read through all the posts I've missed in the past few days.
I'm so sorry I wasn't around while you were feeling so down, Sue. I'm grateful for all the other wonderful ladies that talked you through it. I know it's hard to imagine that you'll ever feel "normal" again, but you will. Chemo is definitely no fun. I've never felt so horrible in my life as I did after that first round of chemo. Just remember that this is temporary. This time next year you'll be feeling wonderful and this will be a distant memory. I bought a t-shirt today at my cancer center that says "Cancer sucks". I LOVE it!! Maybe I'll send you one!!
Take care everyone. I'm beat. My mom has me doing all of her Christmas shopping for her. I have another treatment on Wednesday, so I'm scrambling to get everything done before I feel poopy again.
Love you all!
Karen

I'm concerned about Ulla too. Please post a quick one, Ulla, to let us know that you're ok.
Love and hugs,
Karen

Oh my gosh girls!! I had allot of catching up to do!
I know I wont remember everything I read. Sue..glad to see you are your spunky perky self honey! Hope you continue to feel a little better each day.
Ulla..I hope you are doing well.
Poppy..new avatar. Who is in the pic with you? That's you on the right..correct?
Mel...I love Simon too!! You forgot to mention..he is sexy!! haha
Ok...I did a bad thing gals. I shoveled snow, 2 different days! I know I am not supposed to lift..and that snow was heavy! I tried to mostly use my right arm...but u know how hard that was. Anyhow..in the shower yesterday, I noticed some puffiness around my mastectomy! Do you think I started the lymphodema? Gosh I hope not! I could kick myself! GRRRRRRRRRR!!
I sent my daughter out yesterday to finish the shoveling. Young, healthy..haha...what was I thinking? I know...I was thinking..I can do this..I can do it all! HAHA..see Sue..that's how you feel once the chemo is over..you want to do it all...feeling normal again. You my dear Sue will feel this way too!
Oh, and Sue..once your tx's of the red devil are over, I think you will be able to tolerate your tx's much better. I did. The taxotere was hard too, but in a different way. I would rather do that one than the red devil!
Karen...you poor thing..shopping for your mom? Thats allot on you! Good luck on your tx tomorrow! What is your tx? a/c?
I had my party last night...it went so well!! Very lovely! Lots of food and drink...talk, laughter. I have always done a cookie exchange, but this year changed it to an ornament exchange (saved the calories). Well...the 12 friends..called each other and changed it on me! When it came time to draw numbers for the ornament exchange..they said..wait Lisa..we have a surprise for you..we changed your idea. They decided to each get "ME"an ornament!! Each one gave me one, and it had to do with my relationship to each one of them!! Wasnt' that sweet?!! Oh my...I am so blessed. Now I have 12 new beautiful ornaments..and I LOVE ORNAMENTS!
I had to share that special story with my girls here!
Have a lovely day. I am at work..and tired..long fun night last nt!
xoxo

What great friends you have, Lisa! They pulled a fast one on you, didn't they? I had a lovely visit with an old friend/co-worker yesterday. She came over and brought me a beautiful quilt that she made. It's done all in pink and ivory and she stitched all the names of people who love me around the border. I was so touched by her thoughtfulness. The back side of it is a cozy, pink flannel, so I'm going to take it with me tomorrow to snuggle in during my chemo.
I'm doing TC only now, Lisa. My onc took the "A" out of my TAC. I'm very relieved. I hated that nasty red devil!
Take care, Ladies! I love you all!
Hugs,
Karen
-
Karen, how thoughtful of your friend!! That is so special, you will always treasure that special quilt! My friends are great..I was very touched!
My coworkers here, have done so much for me, from buying me a memory foam pad for my mattress, to raising money with a big fundraiser, to shaving their heads, and then lastly, they made me a quilt! So, like you Karen..I have this beautiful handmade blanket to forever keep me warm, especially with all of their warm sentiments. They each made a heart from fabric and wrote a verse, or saying or quote, or their own words. My supervisor's mother quilted it all together. It is absolutely beautiful!! I love it so much! There are good people in this world!!

Sue darling!!
I see you are feeling good today! So, how long is my grounding?? Funny, I grounded my 16yr old, Olivia last nt, she got home past her curfew! I am a tough mom..haha.
Sue..I said Simon was sexy. I think he is. We are used to the really white teeth here in the states..everybody does it.
We do have very thoughtful friends..very fortunate!

Hi Lisa
This is a cracker, at christmas we have them at the dinner table and you pull one end each, it has a sort of banger in it that makes a bang noise when you pull it. the person who get the bigger end gets whats inside (normaly a paper hat, a really cheesy joke and a silly plastic toy)
-
Thanks Poppy...it still sounds like fun..cheesy or not!
-
Lisa
Thank you so much but I feel like a big fat cow at the moment not that beautiful! Too many chocolates!!
No I'm sooooo lucky no further treatment as long as everything stays as it is. When they did the bi- lat mast, it was just DCIS and only 2mm and not the original 6 that they thought. I am VERY lucky I actually feel like I cheated a bit.....but I feel I made the right decision, at least I won't have BC to worry about every again!
Just remembered though I have the dreaded smear test this week! That'll take on a whole new meaning! I never even thought about the results before, just got it out of the way and forgot about it.
Ow well I suppose it makes you take a lot of things more seriously.
Listen to me being all serious not like me at all hang on......
Q. Whats the useless piece of skin around a Penis called?
A. A man!
Thanks better LOL
XXX
-
Poppy....haha..oh my gosh!! Thanks for the laugh!! That was good...and in my book..very true!! Not very found of the male species right now. Bad experience!
So are you getting around well, since your surgery? Was your reconstruction done with implants? I am having my surgery on Feb.4th. Looking forward to it.
xoxo
Lisa
-
Yes I had a latisimuss dorsi flap on both sides. I still have a lot of fluid on my back but the rest is fine. Just the odd niggle. Getting around fine, I went back to work half days last week so well on the mend.
I have sillicon implants, they are quite hard but compared to the droopy boobs I had before I can't moan.
What are you having done?
X
-
Pedicle tram flap, and having my good breast lifted and reduced.
What do they do about the fluid? Is there a reason you chose the latisimuss vs the tram?
-
Lisa ...when did you have your mastectomy.....
I couldnt have recon straight away...I am not too sure I will...I am getting really hacked off with treatment....I would like to feel OK again....I don't know if I will have the courage to go through something else...you are all too brave xxxx
I got in my car tonight...drove out the carpark to the traffic lights opposite work....wasnt really thinking about anything...just really tired...looking forward to resting...anyway I looked at the car in front and then something stuckout...THE NUMBER PLATE..it read
T898 NEG ...... well my heart sank in the split second my brain interpreted it as TRIPLE NEGATIVE ...... hows that for a coincidence!!!
arghhhhhhhhh xxx
-
Sue....your mind is on overdrive!
Just a coincidence at best.
Sue, I feel good, that is why I can even think about my last and final surgery..(hopefully)! I had my lumpectomy on Sept 24, then one week later, had my mastectomy on Oct. 1st. I would have had reconstruction done at that time, but they thought I would have to have rads. Didn't need to, so that is why I can have the reconstruction already. I am ready for it. I know it will be long and painful, but I am so ready to feel whole again, and be one step closer to being finished with this dreaded, God forsaken illness!
-
Wow Lisa...you're a good un...the way you think is so like where I want to get to...get over treatment and to have enough drive to want to be whole again and go for recon....you done great guns....
I had my mastectomy 8 days after you....are you having hormone treatment .... oh yes did you have chemo before or after...I have to have rads
my oncy said it was deep margined to the chest wall...and he said oh dear oh dear that isnt a good sign.... Well you could have wiped the floor with my face...my lip dropped ...what encouragement...infact I wish I had a different onc ...lol
