    Hi ladies,

Looking for some help.  I'll finish up chemo in January and will start radiation in February.  I'm with Sharp, but I have a PPO, so I have options.  I just found out the oncology radiologist at Sharp is out of network for my health insurance.  What a disappointment, but I don't want to pay the additional $$ to go OON.  UCSD (Moores Cancer Center) and I think Scripps Clinic are in network.  Have any of you used these centers and if so, what did you think?  I'm going to talk with my oncologist today and pose the question to him, too.

    Thanks,

    Lisa #3

    See you Sunday ;-)

Lisa#3, I can't comment on Scripps Clinic's Radiation Oncology specifically, but I have had experience with the Torrey Pines facility since my daughter was an infant (she is now 23). My experiences have been uniformly excellent. I've dealt with Ob/Gyn, Pediatrics, Family Practice, Endocrinology, Orthopedics, Orthopedic Surgery, Gastroenterology, Radiology, Rheumatology, Podiatry, Opthamology, Urgent Care, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Dermatology and probably more I am forgetting and have found excellent providers in each department. I would think Radiation Oncology would be no different.

    Good luck.

See you Sunday. We can talk about persistent seromas.Tongue out

Hi Ladies. Just a couple more days.

I think $10 is a good limit for the gift. Why don't we just show up with a wrapped gift and go home with a different one (opened of course). Will that work?

Lisa #3-Sorry I can't help on the Rads. I was lucky enough not to have them and I am not familar with any place down that way.

Although I ended up not having rads..I did see a radiation oncologist who I think saved my life by catching something everyone else had missed...many people recommended her to me

Dr. Sara Rosenthal at RMG..Radiation Medical Group

Lisa #3--I'm starting rads in January. In fact, just met the rad onc for the first consult today. I'm going to be going to Oncology Therapies of Vista, b/c I live in No. County, and it's very convenient (right next door to chemo).

However, my onc was pushing me to do rads at UCSD. I refused, as there was no way I could drive down there every day for 7 1/2 weeks. However, if I were closer, that's where I would go. My onc said they have state of the art equipment.

    Lisa,

I am getting my recon through a doctor at Moore's and I will soon have an oncologist there but haven't met her yet. My PS is great, but the thing I don't like about Moores' is that you wait forever on hold (phone) or in the waiting room. But maybe I just had unusual experiences?

    Hi everyone,

I seem to be having some intestinal difficulties.  I'm going to try to be there, but if I don't make it - have a good time and I'll catch up with you next time.

We missed you, Melia! How was it with your Dad? We didn't make any firm plans for Jan. - thought we'd hash it out right here.Wink

Gosh, Lisa#3, I didn't read your note until now - you seemed to have recovered nicely by 1pm - I'm so glad! Thanks for your determination.

SoCal, you always do so well with whatever our roped-in waiter seems to give you in the way of a group picture. Thanks! It always means so much to me for us all to get together. I just had the other half of my falafel for dinner. Not Mexican food! Cool

LisaSDCA....glad to hear you finished up the meal!!!

How about Italian for the next one?? What was the

name of your favorite one in Old Town, I think Lisa??

Ah - that would be Jack & Giulio's in Old Town. They even have an Internet coupon for 20% off lunch - but it's only for weekdays and we'd have to go kidnap Melia.Undecided

    http://www.jackandgiulios.signonsandiego.com/

How about Pizza Nova on Harbor Drive? If you know how to get to the airport (and drive past it), it's right there on N. Harbor Dr.

    http://sandiego.citysearch.com/profile/458010/san_diego_ca/pizza_nova.html

Though that's probably not convenient for anyone. hmmm

Maybe a nice Thai restaurant half-way up the county?

I know a great Asian fusion restaurant in North Park - cheap, too.

    Who knows Del Mar?

Melia-We sure did miss you today.

I had a great time as usual. Sylvia and I got to see all the snow on the mountains as we headed home.

LisaSDCA-What is Asian fusion? I like cheap. That always works for me.

I missed all of you too. Crazy  busy weekend.

Just a suggestion; rather than reinventing the wheel each time, how about choosing a place that works, where they let us chat for a couple of hours, and just going there each time?  Then we don't have to figure it out every month. With one in Vista and one in South Bay, plus a couple sorta east, maybe Old Town is the most central?  Or the UTC area ... what day works for you in Jan?

Hi everybody!  I have been hoping to come to San Diego and meet all of you (if that is okay) - I am in South Orange County.  I don't know the area well, perhaps if you ever have a lunch somewhere in north San Diego County I can attend.  I hope I am not being presumptuous.Sealed  (sp?)

How about it, everyone?  North County in Jan?

Our very first meeting was at Chevy's in Del Mar and that seemed to work out fine. Or do we want to go even further North? Is there something at or near the Carlsbad Outlets?

Then we might even get RocktoberMom (I think she needs Sundays) and Adnerb and lini - and definitely you, myrenewal, Sue! We welcome new members with open arms! Heck - we even have a 'regular' we've never met yet, in nash. It keeps looking like it might happen but the durn chemo gets in the way.

North County Ladies - give some input, here!

I'm finally done with chemo---hooray! Might actually be able to eat a bite of something come January.

Just some places that come to mind in North County--Buca Di Beppo in Carlsbad is always fun for a big group. There's also a Buca Di Beppo in Mira Mesa, if that's more central for people. Ruby's Diner at the Carlsbad Outlets is yummy, but the parking's a pain. Bruno's at Restaurant Row in San Marcos has a really, really good Sunday buffet--might be a touch pricey, I'd have to check.

Kaye from La Quinta, who joined you in Oct., will probably try to come down the next lunch if she can, too.

All right. Now we are getting somewhere. Look at all the new names and new faces we can add to our pictures. SoCal you better bring that new camera next time.Soon we will have to reserve the banquet room somewhere.

Looking at my so cool calendar from Sylvia I see that Martin Luther King week-end is the 21st. Melia said that won't work for her and Starfish isn't that the week-end of your surgery or was that the following week-end.

I know North County is a stretch for SoCal. Maybe we could try it for just one month and then go closer to you the next month. If we do North County my babysitter will be cheaper so I can try and make it on a Saturday.

How about the 26th or 27th. There is a Marie Callendars and Claim Jumper off Cannon in Carlsbad. Claim Jumper used to have an awesome salad bar. It has been awhile since I have been there but I think they always have it. I don't know of any Italian except Macaroni Grill and Olive Garden in Oceanside and that awesome place in San Marcos. I think it is called Johnny Carino's or something. It is so good but both those places might be a bit pricey.

Well there is my 2 cents. It is probably worth about a penny though.

Gals, I have an idea, does anyone know Belle Fleur in the outlet mall in Carlsbad?  They have a wonderful, wonderful Sunday buffet that is only $20.00.  They have a special area for large groups.  Just a thought.  So many are watching weight, might not be a good idea.

Buffets don't work for me - you know I usually take home half my entree! But if they let you order from the menu as well as have the buffet option, then that is cool. Ruby's Diner (will parking be a pain after Christmas?) or Claim Jumper is fine, too. However, I think LisaStarfish has her surgery that weekend. How about the 12th?

nash - congratulations on finishing chemo!!!Laughing

    Thanks, LisaSD!

We're having a b-day party for my son on the 27th (his b-day is on Super Bowl Sunday, so guess what takes precedence)

I think LisaStarfish's surgery is in Feb. I'm sure she'll be along here soon to check in.

There is also a Sammy's woodfired pizza in Carlsbad, just west of the 5 off Palomar. Also, I don't think parking at the outlet would be too bad in Jan ... not like it is now, anyway. The 12th works for me. But do what works for most .... we are a big group now, and we won't all be able to make everything. I pretty much am going to opt out of Sundays, for example, but if it works for the rest of you, you should go for it. And I will make Sundays when and if I can.

The 12th is fine with me. I work til 11 that morning but can come straight from work (my company is in Vista). Along with Claim Jumper on the west side of the 5 at Palomar Airport Rd, there is a Sammy's Woodfired Pizza, which I think has salads too ... I don't much care where, just when!

The 12th is fine for me, too. Claim Jumper, or thereabouts in Carlsbad, seems like the most central location for everyone, especially for Sue from OC.

Hello--Claim Jumpers is great---and fine with me---and just to add some confusion---Tip Top is near the outlet mall and the food is fabulous---but you have to stand in line to order----but that would eliminate the final talley stuff that we usually go thru....just a thought!!
