Oh Sue, lovey, you are still awake! I seem to get in here to post just about the time you are asleep.
I had another idea that has worked for some of the women. I don't know what Subway has available, but some companies here let other employees "donate" one or two of their sick days to someone like you, who might need them. I don't know if this will work, but might be worth a try. Then, if you need to stay home, you will still get paid.
Now, how are you feeling? Stupid question for a person on chemo. Never feel quite "right". But the days are going by and every day past is one day closer to DONE WITH YOUR BOOTFACE!!!!!
I love you, honey, Shirlann -
Ulla! You go girl!!
You are soooo beautiful , I'm sure you were stunning when you took off your wig. My girlfriends talked me into not wearing my scarf one day , and I haven't wore it since. I wish I had the nerve to do it when I was bald. I salute you dear Ulla! You go to school Monday , and hold your head up high. We will all be right there with you!xxxx Melody
Hi Shirlann!
-
I have just been catching up with all your posts - you wonderful, crazy women! I LOVED reading them all and I was giggling. It was more like a chat room than a forum! All that laughter - if you are in danger of wetting yourself it has to be a very good quality laugh! So GOOD for you!
I love reading everyones' posts - little snippets of life in far away places and yet we all live on a small planet and have such similar feelings about so many things.
Ulla - there is so much life and energy in your posts - I love it when you drop in a Swedish word or two! Your links to those websites sound really interesting - must read them when I get a chance.
Went fishing this morning with 2 of my sons. (Well, I watched and felt a bit sorry for the fish!) It was so much fun though and lots of laughter. They are leaving in about 3 weeks on a round the world holiday, the bulk of it being spent in the UK, working. I will miss them so much but I am so excited for them.
The Christmas card thing is such a lovely idea Sue! Where is this Christmas mailing list? On these boards? I will try to pm you Sue.
We Australians are a funny lot. All our shopping centres and malls are decked out in raindeer, fake snow and figurines of rugged up people singing carols - and yet most of us are sweltering in the summer heat! It's even funnier when we cook hot roasts, plum puddings and all the rest of the traditional Christmas fare - it makes our kitchens into saunas! A lot of us do have cool foods on Christmas day though - salads, pavlova, and icecream cakes. The beach or a pool is the best way to cool off after a big Christmas lunch.
And yet, I just love the idea of a snowy white Christmas so you can really enjoy all the traditional trimmings! Last year it snowed around Melbourne and parts of Tasmania over Christmas and it was quite cool even where I live - such a refreshing change.
Enjoy your day off Sue - I hope you spend it in a disgustingly lazy way!
Love to all,
gb

OMG!!!! You ladies are UNBELIEVABLE!!! I miss one day posting here and I had 4 pages to read!!! From what I've read, looks like Auntie Em is going to have to keep her eye out on the liquor cabinet!!! LOL.
The Uncle Fester analogy was HYSTERICAL!! I loved that show.
I looked more like Howie Mandell - with glasses!!
It was nice to see you ladies laughing and joking. See, it can be done!!
Love & Hugs,

My goodness I would give anything to look like barbie hahaha.... I am all mutilated ..... thank god it looks quite pretty and neat....OH damn.... I never give myself long enough to dwell looking... to wonder what I truly feel like.... but when I see my scar the first thing I think of is 'that saved my life' and of the surgeon who paid me an extra visit the night after.....and how kind she was.....
Poppy.....I bet you will look fab in a few weeks...patience!! LOL.... I am so inspired by you ..... The little picture of your dog always warms me... xxx
You only came out of hospital just over a week ago....and you had loads more done than me!! You're great!

Hello Everyone!! xxx
I hope you are all well XXX
Today I am feeling OK....I have been shopping at Asda for all the vegetables...again....for the third day on the run around about lunchtime I had a weird half hour and it happened in Asda...I just went crazy and couldn't stop laughing and grating my teeth and talking loudly....my O/H was scared ...LOL....do you think its them steroids .....
Anyway I went to another shop and bought a couple of hats....I had nightmares about Uncle Fester last night...lol....
My hair has always been lovely and thick...well at times I wished for thinner hair! My hair is still long but noticebally a LOT thinner....I haven't really seen any fall out...so where has it gone!!! Why is my hair thinner if it hasn't dropped out.... How strange!!
I am not looking forward to having no hair...I will be rushing it to grow back quick and I know I will be impatient...I might look for some special ointment to throw on my head and get it to speed up!! Good grief it hasn't even fallen out yet ...lol
gb ...the christmas card list is on a thread on Time to Circle the Wagons board xxx... I will PM you my address now xxx
Poppy I will PM you too...as I would love to read that book....especially after the rubbish I had read last night!! Will you PM me your address please ....so I can return it...and of course send you a nice cheery xmas card....
Right I am off for my third cuppa and then I will do some reading....

Glad you all enjoyed our crazy conversation yesterday....we sure did laugh!
Ulla....your problem with words and memory...I KNOW HOW U FEEL!!! I finished my chemo 8/29/07 and I am still struggling with that. I hope in time it all goes away.
Poppy....I hope you are feeling better, I am sorry your back is in such discomfort. I can't wait to get my reconstruction! Well...I am nervous about it.
Good morning Miss Sue...enjoying your day off??
Where is our Melody?
xoxo
Lisa
-
Ulla ...thankyou for you address... xxxx I am so glad you're still feeling better...we must get through the next treatment...xxx
Do not worry about feeling forgetful...my mind has been going blank a good few times a day.... I cannot remember things or peoples names.... I usually have a real good memory.... you see....Melody has a picture of a piglet next to her name...for the past week since it has been changed I have been trying to remember for the life of me what was there before...
I forgot everyones name at work too...so everything and everyone is called dooberry this and dooberry that.... LOL
Keep Shining bright Ulla xxxxx

Hello Lisa xxxx
I hope you are having a good day...my day off is nearly over
it is 5pm already!! I hate Monday mornings...it is stock take on a Monday...and I end up counting over and over...which could take all day tomorrow given the circumstances ...lol...and I have a full weeks work this week...no shirking at 3pm as I have rota myself on til 5pm for my 'good week'.. DAMN
Ulla ...when is your next tx ..mine is Dec 4th....is it your 3rd next time xx
-
Ulla and Sue....the memory is so fustrating!! I so relate to that!!
Haha...I can't remember what Melody had before her piglet either!! oh my!
Sue, it is too bad you don't have off 2 days in a row!! Did you see what Shirlann wrote about sick days?? That would be great if your Subway did that. Does your Subway make the small pizza's? Our's at the airport does..they are very good actually.
I see my oc tomorrow morning for blood work etc. Hope it all goes well.
Sue...what are the two tx you are taking right now? You spoke earlier about the talking and grating of teeth...I do think that is all steroids. I was only on them before my tx's of taxotere..and I HATED THEM!!
How long dear Sue has it been since your tx? My hair fell out pretty rapidly by day 15, then I had my friend shave my head!
-
Sue....please check your email...I sent you one!
xoxo
Lisa
-
Lisa....I wish you lived near me ...we could go running together!!!! I would manage 400 yards and wait for you on the bench ...
My treatment is epirubicin every 3 weeks...four times...I have done one and it is day 12/13
Then I am having CMF for 16 weeks...2weeks in 2 weeks off...which I am NOT looking forward to!
I am sure it is the steroids that make me nutty...do they stay for ages in the system... or maybe its the anti d's ..... the thing is I can't stop taking any of them to eliminate them lololol oh well xxx
As for sick days and Subway.... I am not too sure if I have ever heard of this before...it seems a good scheme.... but I am store manager and there is no one to cover me save the owner....as there are no other managers....and we are too busy ... but he said he would pay me in full when I was sick..... so maybe I might go lenient with myself next treatment....
xxx

What memory? Thats what I want to know. ANd word salad... anyone mixing up words? I was trying to say "The sink is plugged" at least I can type it. I went to the maintenance guy and told him the plunk was sinked and every time I tried to clear it up it got worse... the slink in punked... the plink is sugged.. It just would not come out right.
It was good giggles last night - thank you everyone!!! Watch that bladder (like you will ever be able to live THAT down).
Signed (Bruce Willis in drag) Hey, if you get to see Live Free - Die Hard and like action movies - that's a good one, a bit farfetched but good nonetheless.
Karyll
-
Thanks Karyll!....aka Bruce!!
I just saw a feel good movie...out at the theaters...went with the girls on Friday while they were home from school...the new Disney...Enchanted....very cute!! Lots of fun and laughs!
Sue, if you went running with me....I would not let you rest on the bench! haha!
You said your treatments...what is CMF?? Sorry...I am ignorant with all the abreviations!
-
LOL@ Karyll.... aka Bruce ..lololol....i wonder why the treatment affects our minds so much...
Well Lisa....CMF ....is another chemo....I can't for the life of me remember what it stands for.... and I am too fatigued to get the paperwork out.. LOL..... I think it is similar to FEC ...but then again I don't know what that is either...
I just sent you an email!
Well I am going to make a coffee and have a look at what the Kylie programme is about tonight..... Please all behave whilst I am AWOL
Much Love xxx
-
WHERE IS MY HAIR GOING IF IT ISN'T FALLING OUT BUT IS GETTING AWFULLY THIN!
Please may someone answer my predicament as it is really puzzling my head....and my head is too puzzled to be anymore puzzled lately xxx
-
It's not in your brush Sue?? How about going down the drain in the shower?? I could tell when mine was coming out. Then I could not stand it anymore...and buzz it went!
Enjoy the rest of your evening...it is only 1pm here in Ohio!! Cold today...but sunny!
They talk about the chemo brain...and not sure if it is scientific..but I know it's real!! haha.
I sent you another email as well!
-
AHA - google is amazing
CMF is named after the initials of the chemotherapy drugs involved, which are cyclophosphamide (pronounced sigh-clo-fos-fa-mide), methotrexate (me-tho-trex-ate) and fluorouracil (floo-ro-you-ro-sill, which is also known as 5FU).
I am having the FEC which is the same F and the same C but the E is epirubicin.
Here is a note too: -
Hair loss Complete hair loss is rare with CMF chemotherapy, but you may notice that your hair becomes a little thinner. If you experience any hair loss it is temporary and your hair will start to grow again once the treatment has finished.
-
Wow...thanks Karyll!!...There you go Sue!! See...you may not loose your hair at all!! Lucky you!!
-
Sue, I sent you a pm last night. I can't remember what Melody's previous avatar was either! And I'm not having chemo - that's a bit of a worry!
The plunk was sinked! Lol! I love spoonerisms!
Hugs,
gb
-
Poppy, I am so sorry you have so much lymph build up on your back. Could you maybe ring a lymph specialist and ask them if they can do anything to help you? As I haven't had a recon I don't know what the treatment for excess lymph is after such surgery.
hugs,
gb
