oooh Brenda... my ex had sleep apnea... boy, his snoring used to drive me crazy!!!
he ended up having an operation where they cut that little thingy that hangs down on the back of your throat.. they just laser it off, and voila, no more snoring!!
Kelly, loved your pics! You and your little girl are both super cute.. and that drink doesn look half-bad either!
Gail, did you get my pm?
Laura, hows the Goat going?
i miss everyone...

We could use the site at Yahoo that I set up. Only "members" that I "OK" can open up the messages and read and post there. I would, of course, give every rocktober girl the OK. So, it could be totally private to our Rocktober group. However, I think some other gals had some objections to yahoo or difficulties with their site. If you want to use the Yahoo site, send me a PM and I'll give you the link. So far I think myself, Deb, and Victoria have "joined" the October Women group.
-
i think i joined the yahoo group from last time. i would like it....i hate this new set-up...totally confusing
-
I didnt know there was another group !!
I havent been on much as i have had a lot going on. My thyroid Dr decided to do Radioactive Iodine on my thyroid , and told me i would be dangerous to children and young adults for 4 weeks so more time off of work. It would include 2 weeks living away from my kids , then 2 weeks living in a different room etc. That made me sad as i dont like not being with family , but thought it would sort it once and for all. Today I got a letter saying that because of my 'relatively young age' (??) they had had a meeting about me and decided not to do it ........yet!! They are going to block my thyroid and give me a chemical one for 6 months , then stop that and see what happens. I have a 50% chance of it being sorted , or a 50% chance of being back at square one and starting to fall over again!! Part of me is glad i dont have to leave the kids for 2 weeks , the other part of me is miserable that it may just be prolonged rather than sorted.
I havent sorted the photos out yet - most are just of the trip rather than just the meet so i have to sort what to put on snapfish.

We don't really have another group . . . yet. If people want to use the Yahoo group we can. You go to Yahoo Groups. The link for the place is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/octoberwomen/
There should be a button saying "Join this group."
When you fill out the info then they send me an e-mail. I'll okay the rocktober sisters and then we can converse there.
But if this is not acceptable, then I'm okay with that also. I've had good experiences with Yahoo groups, but others may not have. If we do use that place, there will be a learning curve also, just like with this new set up.
Mary
-
Ok Mary, I signed up and you should be getting an e-mail.
-
Hi Mary,
<> I just joined the Yahoo Group too!
<> Is this the route we are going to go so we can keep our conversations private?
Love
Michele

Debbie, That is too bad about your thyroid. You looked great to me. I didn't realize you were still having trouble. I don't know too much about Graves disease but that certainly would be hard if you have to stay away from your children for 4 weeks. How could they expect you to do that? Do they think radiation caused this? I will keep my fingered crossed for you that the chemical they want to try works.
-
I'll try again on my Mac and see what happens .... sometimes it's good to be able to have somewhere to say somethings that really are *private* ... and not fear someone reading.
-
Debbie -I'm glad you don't have to leave your kids. But I wish they could get your thyroid under control...hang in there. My thyroid has been out of whack since chemo. I take Synthroid everyday. I never had a thyroid problem b/4 chemo...and I've seen lots of posts here about problems post-chemo.Paula -The Goat is GOOD! I am such an idiot! Darn...why didn't I think to let you drive it when you were here! Arghhhhh...I was so delirious. If you visit San Diego for turkey day...why don't you head over here to the forest! You know you're always welcome to stay here! And we could go dancing! LOLTracy -I'm so happy everything went well in Reno. You still amaze me!HI EVERYONE!Hope you're all well...I will check out the Yahoo group...I'm so upset about everything with our bc site! Sniff, sniff!
-
I am too through with this madness here!
Kelly, you and carrot top are too precious. I could use one of those cocktails homeboy was grinning over!! This website is working my nerve. My only nerve at that!

-
I think this new board is getting on all our last nerve.
Off to work, BBL.......

Just checking in too. Kids have half a day of school today so they'll be walking in at any moment...
Kelly - gorgeous pictures!! Wow! Sounds like you had a great time.
Paula -
The ride in the goat was a ride to remember, was it not?!!!! Holy smokes, and I'm such a chicken!
Laura, you are truly Wonder Woman!
ok, neighbor girl just arrived...got to go. Have a great day ladies!!!
-
Between these changes on the board and my being gone for the past three weeks I am so behind in all aspects of my life.
But…the pictures I’ve seen are great. Also Kelly’s pictures seen here and in emails are wonderful.
Meeting all of you in person has been truly life changing. Now how to keep that going for all of us.
Mary, I have signed up for the Yahoo group. Waiting to be let in. I do think this is a good way to go. I have always been a little hesitant to share exactly what I’m doing but would feel safer with only October sisters included. So sorry you have again been going through sadness in your church family. Hope the wedding gave a lift to your spirits.
Debbie—praying that they get your thyroid issues as you say “sorted” and soon. Really enjoyed meeting your entire family.
I really want to acknowledge everyone but just do not have the time today.
Oh, almost forgot, article in Real Simple is out. Will be on newsstands Sept. 17. Will e-mail everyone with a note I got from the article writer.
Have a good day everyone. -
Feeling heavy hearted today after the funeral of the young man from our church. it was a service with laughter, love, music, and many tears of sorrow and gratitiude for this young person and the example he was for us all. This makes 2 young people from our church buried in 6 months time. Many of us were reliving the sorrow of Natalie again since some of the same friends from the high school were there and the high school choir sang at the funeral.
Thanks for just letting me get that out. I'll be okay.
bye now,
Mary

Mary -
My heart has been with you, sister. Like I said b/4...you have had MORE than your share of sadness this past year. You're such a wonderful person...I have to call you sometime soon! I would love to "talk" to you.
RoseMarie -
Hey! I don't know if I told you this...I have a team for the 3 mile Komen walk on Sept. 29th...I know it's a long shot, but I just want to extend the invite...it's at Grant Park. I know it's a long drive and Saturdays are hectic with the kids, but hey...you never know.
And...if you can't make this one...maybe you could join us for the 60 MILE one this summer! LOL
-----------------
OH MAN...I have gotta run...I have a major product design that's due tomorrow afternoon...this stress is going to kill me way b/4 bc! LOL Love ya all... MISS YA ALL! Wasn't it great to get-together! I'm still walking around saying "pinch me"! And it still feels like a dream!
-
Laura it is getting late so get crackin .......OMG, you poor thing. I hate deadlines...I know you were asking Rosemarie but I won't be able to make the walk as I will be doing one here.....lol., if I lived closer I really may have considered it...and 60 miles, sorry, no way.......lol
-
How do i stop getting an email every time someone posts something on here?? I obviously have a box ticked somewhere!
Mary - what an awful time. I am glad you have the others at church to help you.
Debbie
-
Graycie -
Thanks...I'm trying to keep my stress under control.
Debbie -
I checked...there isn't anywhere to de-activate that feature...I have started a list of problems for the mods...I'll add it.
-
Mary, Yahoo message board accepted my first message and now it is telling me it has to be approved again. It won't post any of my messages.......I think I will give up and stay here.......lol.or stick with the e-mails
-
Laura, I tried to pm Mary-Anne yesterday and it doesn't show up on my sent messages so don't know if it went through or not. If anyone else has had this same problem you might want to add it to your list.
Cathy -
Laura, when you mark a conversation as your favorite on your home page, it automatically sends you and email. If you remove it from faves, it will stop.
-
Hi,
I hope the problems here sort out. I liked the old feature that showed if you had a PM. Cathy, I did not receive any from you so you could try again. I am a big kid and LOVE getting mail.LOL.
I have a date for my recon...Nov22. I am having a single Lat Dorsi flap on the left and leaving my other breast alone. This will bring me back to two size A breasts. Hmm, awfully tempting to go bigger but would have to have expanders and implants, so no thanks. In any case I am small all over so C cups would likely make me fall over.LOL.
Gota go to bed, good night...
Fists up!
-
Mary-Anne -
You know I'll be thinking of you on the 22nd. You're brave...much braver than whimpy ol me! Bigger isn't always better, dear! Fists up to you! And I wouldn't want you to fall over! LOL Be well...
-
Hi Ladies!
I have received two invitations to speak at Breast Cancer luncheons in October, so I decided that I need to get serious and actually write a speech instead of making it up as I go..... I plan to use our video as the opening and not sure exactly where I am going to go after that, but I would like to collect some stats about our little group. I know you have given me some of this info before, but if you would indulge me one more time.... I would like to have everyone's answers so that we have realistic data about our group.
You can email me with your answers, post them here, put them on the other board or PM me here (if I can figure out how to get a PM here.... LOL).
Once I have my speech done, I will send it to all of you.....

hey girls,
do you know if there is an option to go straight to the last page of this thread? Its annoying having to scroll all the way down to be able to chose page number..
Maryanne, congrats! You wont regret it! Although get prepared to be patient. Dont hesitate to ask me anything!
There is a Dove Breast Cancer Walk on the 6th of october (it happens every year). Quite a few of us are going.. All my pink goodies - t-shirt, cap, bag etc will surely come in handy!
Tracy, i'll email you the answers. But to check PMs, go my My Home, and then go to Inbox.
You wont believe it girls... but i am sick... again!! arrrgh. Clearly my immune system is non-existent. Although there has been a lot of flu going around Australia. Still, this is my third time this year!
oh well.. at least the weekend is coming up.
-
Maryanne, I will also be thinking of you on the 22nd.
TracyS, You are a busy girl. I will gladly send you the info. I think that is so great that you are involved in so many things. Makes my life sound kind of boring. I wish I was more like you and I wish I knew where you find the time.
Debbie, How are you feeling? Paula, My computer automatically takes me to the last page I was on because I take it from my browser but if you are first signing in click on the last page # in the blue. I think it is page 346 right now and it will take you there instead of going through all the pages. That must take you forever. I hope everyone has a nice day. I actually have the day off.....yippee!
Laura, I hope you are done with your project and you are able to take some time to relax today.
Live each day to the fullest
