LOL Laura... as a seasoned standby traveller i can assure you, those tricks dont work!
Actually i have a funny story from my parents first (and last) standby trip years ago. After that experience they only ever travel on confirmed seats.. They were stuck in London, and the last flight for the day departed without them. So my mum started crying. And all of a sudden, here is this huge african guy starts talking to them in RUSSIAN!! (years ago we had a lot of Africans learning Russian in Moscow). Anyway, my mum was so upset, she told him to shut up and mind his own business without even thinking how comical the situation was!!
oh, and next day, they finally had some luck.. with ONE seat available for both of them!!! My mum started bawling again... and only then the airline finally managed to find an extra seat.
my mum was not happy after that trip.... -
Mary,
the kangaroo crotch bookmark is now on my list.. -
Paula - I loved Sydney and found so many cool things there! I can't think of anything other than some GREAT pain relievers that I could buy there but can't get in the states. I don't remember the name of them which is probably good - we don't want you to spend your time in the US in jail!!! LOL!!! I am GO GLAD you are coming! :-)
Dave doesn't belive that they make Kangaroo Crotch wallets - I saw them when I was there at Paddy's Market (one of my favorite places!). -
Paula, I know I can't go, but a kangaroo crotch bookmark or wallet is just Miss Muffet needs for 1st grade, I think I saw it on her supply list! LOL
-
Tracy - hmmm... Panadol? Disprin? Nurofen? They are the major ones. But the ingredients are the same as in your meds - paracetamol, aspirin etc. Still, let me know if you remember the name.
Kelly, lol, shame i didnt think of it before, i could have bought a cute furry bag at the markets.. now i am at the mercy of the duty free shops at the airport. Hopefully they'll have nice stuff. -
Oh I could just see Teryn at show and tell....... LOL!!!!
No, those arent the names. When I visited Sydney I was having a severe problem with my shoulder and was in horrible pain. The pharmacist there sold me something that they keep in the pharmacy behind the counter but it is not perscription. Oh Well - I really don't have aches and pains that are that bad anymore (thank goodness!), so I don't need it. When are you leaving???? Long flight - I remember, I had a middle seat coming home and the flight was full - I was squished for 17 hours!!! -

I also want to say that I, for one, will miss everyone who cannot be there with us. I will think of you often and hope that a time will come when we can meet.
Had a lovely lunch today with my sister today who sent along a gift for my roomie, Cathy. Guess what it is? Earplugs for sleeping . . .LOL She's shared a room with me before. The little rat!! Anyway, I hope I won't be too noisey for Cathy. Well, see you all very soon now.
By this time tomorrow, we'll probably be at the hotel and looking for some dinner. Yipee!!!!!
Mary -
Well, I will be offline now until I SEE YOU TOMORROW!!!! and Friday for some of you.
Amy, Kelly, Jill, Linny and Victoria - we will miss you!

I should be sending a package out fed-ex/dhl tomorrow out to Laura's. I am sorry we cannot be there, I even looked up flights out on Saturday night and in Monday but I'd miss all the fun.
Can't call in sick ... we've been home sick for 2 days ... Sunday night, I was rollerblading and fell on my tailbone, twisted my back and bruised my hand. I was off on Monday but no way could I drive to work on Tues and Teryn had a cold so she didn't go to school today.
We will be back at work/school tomorrow though ....
Have fun ladies!!! -
(((hugs))) ladies! We will miss you!!
Kelly - OUCH! That sounds sooo painful!! I hope you're feeling better!
I have been so emotional lately just thinking about what an awesome support you all have been, thinking back to all we've been through together, thinking about the highs and the lows -
(((hugs))) Rocktober sisters!! -

Ladies who won't be joining us...I will miss you!
Amy..have a great weekend with your friends.
Kelly..that fall sounds awful!
TracyNY..am sorry for the loss of your ex's mom and very sorry we won't be able to meet this time.
I'm seeing The Color Purple tonight. I am also meeting my 89 year old aunt for lunch today. I have a busy Thursday. Tomorrow when I head for the train..I hope I don't get lost. I've never taken the metra here before. New experience.
By Friday evening, those sisters who are making the weekend will all be together. This is quite an event. I can't believe it!
