I have wonderful news, sisters. I saw my oncologise at CTCA this Monday and he gave me a clean bill of health. I need to have a PET scan and see him in six months. Yee ha!
-
Holy Moly Kay! It is so good to hear from you. Looking forward to seeing you Monday. Where are we meeting?
xxxooo
Nancy -
IRENE: Awesome new set of pictures.... feels like I'm right back in Detroit. Would love to have you email me the pic of our "team" gathered around the sign. I'm techno-iliterate and don't know how to grab them from your posting?????
Bonnie: last day in WI tomorrow! Tho this week I've been in Dallas presenting for Early Childhood Conf there --returned late last night. My first 'big' event post-rads. It went REALLY well. (Despite my luggage being high-jacked by Mary Kay sales reps -- but that's a whole 'nother story: LOLOLOL. Angels got it returned in time for my presentation.)
Linda & Rosebud: prayers and blessings as you continue thru the rads process. May you radiate joy! Linda, be careful of those lightning bugs & their antics: hahaha.
Anne: prayers to you as you mourn while simultaneously packing up boxes. Planet Earth has so many adventures for us.
I know that you'll all be tickled to hear that I have continued to ride my bicycle up here on the hills. Set a personal distance record: riding 30.3 miles one morning, just 3 weeks after finishing rads!!! DH bought me an odometer and I rode 156 miles last week. (Remember I couldn't walk the entire 5K due to the fatigue, so this feels like genuine progress!)
I long to be closer geographically to you.... I have met 2 of our bc.org sisters up here and that's been a thrill.
strength to each of you as you adventure thru -- strength to each on the road to wellness.
debbie -
Hey to all!
Congrats to you Debbie......156 miles on a bike in a week!!
Kay: Glad you're doing okay and look forward to seeing you soon!
Deb: Dinner sounds fine with me. There are alot of new restaurants in Brighton.......haven't been to most of them!
Nancy, you know Brighton pretty well....so feel free to chime in!
Last time we met at Lone Star and I think it was good. We have a Cracker Barrel, Out Back Steak House, Chilis'(I think), Olive Garden (new), and Stillwater (pricey).
Lone Star had a pretty diverse menu........what do you guys think.
Let's do late afternoon, miss the crowd that way! Let me know who, when and where for sure and I'll try to make reservations.
Hugs,
Denise -
Hey, I really don't know Brighton. I saw an Olive Garden at 23 and the Lee Rd. exit, just South of Kohl's and Costco on Whitmore Lake Rd. Is that the new one? The only problem is that is the roundabout exit.
So, I'm fine with the Lone Star. I've never been to the Outback and always like Olive Garden. Just say where and when and I'll be there!
Debbie, I admire your ability to bike ride. I've been a total slug all summer.
I'm not online so much but think of everyone often and hope all is well. Looking forward to Monday! -
Hi Nancy and All:
Just in case I am able to make it on Monday . . . is there a map to the restaurant that we will be going to??? I would be coming from Maple(15 Mile Rd) and Telegraph. I would really like to make it!!
Pat -
Nancy..........you trying to pay me back with that stupid round-a-bout aren't you!!
We gotta decide where we are going........Deb will be here at 5 in the morning! I'm sure she will check in from her friends house and she has my number.
I just said LoneStar cuz it worked out good last time. Yes,
Olive Garden is the new one. Fine with me....but gotta remember that will be only Italian Food. I'm open, so let's get some thoughts rolling!!
Who wants to go:
Me (Denise)
Nancy
Laura
Pat
Deb
Anne
And I don't remember who else.
Oops, Kay!!
Make your choice ladies: Olive Garden or Lone Star.
Hugs,
Denise -
Never been to the Lone Star. What's it's menu like? I'd be open to either, I guess, so long as I can get to it from I96. Just let me know.
Laura -
Lone Star is a steak house with a Texas flavor. If you go to http://www.lonestarsteakhouse.com/MenuHome.asp you can read the menu. I believe it's off of I-96, so you can get there and avoid the roundabout.
-
Count me in!
I thought Lone Star was good last time. They seem to have a pretty good mix of foods.
Kay - Good to "see" you!
Irene -
I'm here...In MI that is
Lonestar sounds good to me and better yet, I even know where it is Do we need a reservation?? If so, for how many?
ANy time is good for me, so you ladies pick it. I'm on vacation, so I'm very flexable
I am SO looking forward to this
I am jet lagged...took the red-eye flight and didn't sleep, so I am off for a nap.
Talk to you soon
SEE you soon **grin**
Deb C -
Yea.....Deb made it!!!!
Let's do LoneStar...we know where it is and we know the food is good!
I know some of you said after 3 or 4 and you could make it. Let me know how many and what time ... I'm flexable Monday.
Irene
Kay
Laura
Denise
Deb
Nancy
Anne?
Pat
Drop me a line and I'll call and see if we need reservations or not. I'm thinking 4ish...but if you can't be there that early we'll change it!
Hugs,
Denise
Anyone else? -
I work in Troy and get off at 4, so however long it takes to get there from Troy is the time I can make it. :-)
-
It looks like 'lone star' may be out of business..........!
Keeping cost and variety in mind this is what I've found.
Cracker Barrel
Golden Platter....kinda new family type place (never been there.)
Big Boys
Olive Garden....I think it is open, but nothing on web site about one in Brighton.
There are a lot..must trying to come up with something that all like!
I can find something I like anywhere and Deb says she is easy to please to.........just want someplace where we can talk and not have to hurry.
Heck....we can order Pizza and come to my house if you want!
Gotta decide by tomorrow, so let's here from you guys!
Hugs,
Denise -
Okay..........no One has posted, so I guess 'no news is good news!'
I called LoneStar last night and got the ole........phone is disconnected thing!
Anyhow, let's do the "Olive Garden", as it is right off of the X-way. The address is: 6870 Whitmore Lk. Rd., Brighton, MI. Whitmore Rd. is just an extension of old US 23. You might want to do a mapquest..I do believe it is on the West side, by Costco's.
I'll get there at 4:00p to make sure we get a table. And the rest just come when you can!!
If you can let me know if you're coming or not..I'll have an idea as to how big a table to nab!
See ya tomorrow!
Denise -
I was writing at the same time!
Here is the Olive Garden in Brighton:
http://locator.olivegarden.com/cwc/apps/...2GI_QVALUE=1712
The map is not that great but the address is
6870 WHITMORE LAKE RD
BRIGHTON MI 48116 (810) 225-8284
That is at Lee Rd exit and US-23. It is just South of Kohls and Costco on the West side of the road. The new mall is on the East side of the road.
You can avoid the roundabout if you take the Silver Lake Rd exit. It is a mile South of Lee Rd. but is easier. Whitmore Lake Rd. runs parallel with US-23.
So coming from the North/East (like most of you are I think), take I-96 to US-23 South to Silver Lake Rd West to Whitmore Lake Rd North.
Coming from the South, take US-23 North to Silver Lake Rd West to Whitmore Lake Rd North.
I can be there about 4ish also.
Xxxooo
Nancy
This map is a little better:
http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result.php?q1=6870+WHITMORE+LAKE+RD%2C+brighton%2C+mi -
I may be a bit after 4, but not much. How will I know everyone??? what name is the table going to be under?? I can hardly wait!! I've had a couple of drinks and laughed myself until I almost couldn't breath tonight...got to catch some zzzzz's before I get the spins
Love ya
Deb -
Nancy, thanks for the map link, and advice on avoiding the roundabout. I plan on leaving Lansing at 3 tomorrow. I hope that should be enough time. I know I can make it to Howell in about 35 minutes. Hope I'm allowing enough time for traffic and getting lost.
See everyone tomorrow. I'm excited to be meeting some of my online support group. This will be a first for me.
Laura -
Can't wait to meet you either Laura! Glad you can make it!
Deb: Let's see, how will you know us.............one of us has blonde hair, one of us has dark shoulder length hair, one of us is very thin with long hair, one of us has long hair that will probably be pulled back.......and, last but not least.........we will all be missing all or part of a body part!!!! Just kidding!
We will probably know each other just cuz we will......but I will put the table under my name.
Hugs,
Denise -
I'm sorry for the late confirmation, but I got permission from my boss to leave a little early tonight, so I'll see you all at Olive Garden shortly after 4:00, traffic willing!
Can't wait to see you all tonight!!
Anne -
Hi,
I'm not going to be able to make it late afternoon. I was really looking forward to meeting all of you; but I'll try next time. I have 10 more Rads to go - so am in the countdown phase. Looks like I laid out in the sun with just one boob exposed. Eating chocolate to stay awake and smathering myself with Aquaphor.
Have a great time with loads of laughter and hugs. You are such a fabulous group. Love and prayers, Linda -
Linda- I'm quite sure we will be there a couple of hours. I'll PM y ou my cell number if you want t o try and drop by later
Deb C -
Yea, Anne! So glad you're coming!!!! Take your time in the traffic..
Linda: Wish you could come too! Like Deb said, we'll be there a couple of hours if you can do it!
I'll grab a table for 8.....if more of you show up, we'll just add to it!!
and Deb......we'll whisper so we don't hurt your head!!!!
See all in a while!!
Denise -
Hey all!
What a wonderful time visiting with you!! Boy, do I feel stupid...........thought it was after 7:00p when I said I had to leave.......I was half way home before I realized I was an hour off!!
Hugs,
Denise -
I had SUCH a blast meeting you all. I have a bad feeling I talked a mile a minute the whole time...don't even remember what I ate
It was great to meet you all.
Deb C -
Hey, I followed Kay out to 23, thinking I'd get right on the highway. Well, got in the wrong lane and ended up on southbound 23. Should have just gone down to the Silverlake Rd entrance. I ended up there anyway.
I was really glad to meet everyone. Had a good time. That's the farthest I've driven alone since I've finished treatment, another milestone on moving beyond cancer.
Deb, you did not talk too much. Thanks for taking my afghan blocks to Pinkstock for me.
Until next time, Laura -
I am so sorry to have missed the get together I just returned from a ten day vacation which was partly spent relaxing and partly spent doing work (ugh). But, it was all spent out of state Debbie you and I were in Dallas at the same time!!! Anyway, it was a family vacation and started with a reunion and later ended with my folks and I driving leisurely home from Dallas, thru battlefields, next to the mighty Mississippi, thru Elviss home, and back home. We truly have a great country to live in.
Deb C sorry to have missed you I hope you are enjoying your trip to MI.
Kay welcome back and great news on your clean bill.
Anne so sorry to hear about your dad. What happened with the live grenade?
Linda good job on making your way thru radiation. I remember those days
Everyone else I hope all is well and that you are enjoying summer time in MI. I am sorry to have missed you ladies yesterday maybe we can still plan the picnic? What do you think?
-
Good Morning All,
I had such a great time last night. See you gals really recharges my batteries!!
NotMe - Sorry you couldn't make last night, but it sounds like your vacation was lovely (except for the work part maybe...) YES!! I think a picnic would be great fun. There are several nice parks up here by me - would that be too far for folks? If you want to look on maps, look at Dodge Park in Sterling Heights or River Bends in Shelby Township for starters. Both have shelters just in case.
The live grenade was a WWII souvenier my Dad had picked up.Here's a link to the story from the A2 News, however it wasn't my brother who found it, it was me. DB just called the cops. http://blog.mlive.com/annarbornews/2007/06/wwiiera_grenade_found_in_ann_a.html
The cats are rubbing, purring and nipping (just a little) to remind me they are ready to get their breakfast.
Hugs,
Anne -
Darn! Deb, I promised you the pictures, but I've lost your email. PM me and I'll send them right over. Sorry!
-
Loved meeting you guys! It does recharge the batteries.
Ok, I'm only a few days late but the name I was trying to think of was "Beatrix Potter" when I was describing the movie 'Miss Potter' when we were talking about children's books.
I hope we get to see some of the pics. Be sure to morph some lips on mine.
Have a great time at Pinkstock. Really like the gifts, Deb. Thank you!
I still like the picnic idea. We should get that rolling.
