Oh my gosh you ladies have been extremely busy. The pictures are lovely.
Vickie, what is a "lapghan"? I think I just knitted one. Mine is 23" X 23". I will use it for working on the computer in the winter. My office is in the basement, it tends to get chilly. Great in the summertime though.
Jule, glad to see you are posting as it must have been really difficult getting through 2 surgeries. Please rest up.
I washed my questionable squares (unknown yarn type) and threw one away as it smelled awful when damp, decided it must be wool. The other one stretched!! So now I have a quandry of whether to rip it up & reknit, or give up on that yarn.
DH was very sweet and upgraded my laptop this week with new memory and bigger hard drive. -
Lisa and Cheri,
So glad you recieved the afghans! We are with you. Wrap up and feel the hugs!!!
Sue -
I was at Walmart (for a change of pace from Kmart, Target or Michael's, LOL) and picked up a Liesure Arts book with 63 pattern stitches to crochet. If anyone wants something different to do, let me know and I will email the directions.
Here is one I have made before, the V Stitch:
(Multiple of 3 + 1 ch)
Ch 28 loosely (adjust so it measures 9" and stays in pattern)
Row 1: (Dc, ch 1, dc) in fifth ch from hook (V-St made).
* skip next 2 chs, work v-stitch in next ch; repeat from * across to last 2 chs, dc in last ch.
Row 2 (right side): Ch 3, turn; work V-st in each ch-1 sp across, dc in top of beginning ch.
Note: Loop a short piece of yarn around any stitch to mark last row as right side.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures approximately 7".
Just a thought if anyone wanted to try something else. -
I confirmed tonight that I can get an afghan delivered to Elizabeth Edwards on Friday. John Edwards will be in my city Friday and I have someone that will hand deliver the afghan to him to give to Elizabeth. Vickie has said that many of you already sent (via PM to her) EE words of encouragement...if you have not done so-but wish to-send Vickie or myself a PM. I will print them out to deliver with the afghan. I told Dh and dd that I may take a day off of work this week to finish the afghan (if necessary).
thank you all, Madison -
Thats good news Madison! I'm glad we can get an afghan to her. Thank you so much for your hard work on this.

Hi girls,
Madison & Vickie - will be mailing squares tomorrow. My aunt who is 76 did some double crochet ones. She was in a tizzy because they weren't the exact size etc. I just laughed. Told her mine are never the right size. She said if you can use them great - if not do whatever you want. It gives her something to do. My Mom (also 76) has torn her one she's done up 3x because it wasn't perfect. LOL
So cool about EE. I'll have to send a PM to you Madison.
Hugs -
Jule, received your squares...I want to use a few in EE's afghan.
In fact, I am trying to use squares from everyone that has contribued in EE's afghan.
You are the greatest!! Madison -
Jule...I got your squares too. Very pretty...love all the wonderful colors we are getting.
I am almost finished with the latest afghan and will probably post a picture tomorrow.
love and hugs to all and thanks for all your hard work!
Vickie -
Hi, Hi,
I am taking the day off of work tomorrow to finish EE's afghan. My daughter wants to have the afghan packaged (wrapped) at a speciality store in town. She will deliver the afghan to a friend that will hand deliver it to John Edwards. (Sounds like he said, she said..)
Does anyone want to PM me messages to print out for EE?
If not, I'll work on a special message to include in the afghan.
Love and hugs to all...
Madison -
