Cardplayer, I couldn't agree more. This time it really means something to have as smany Democrats as possible vote for OUR side period. I'm hoping that the 1/6 hearings will continue to make a strong impact. Almost a shame that we had to have the interuption but hopefully it will all bounce right back in two weeks when they are resumed. I do hope their is enough materials to carry on a bit longer. Would be nice to feel a super-solid impact was made. Ir has made a GOOD difference already but in the case -- the more the merrier, or better for us.
Held my breath in the 2020 election for a short while, and I know I will again. 2020 election was touted as so important ( for getting rid of the Loon ) and it was. I had no idea then that this one may well be quite a cur above even 2020.
I think if Reps. keep up what they are doing, there is a chance for us to do well although the attnetion span does cause concern. Just don't tell that to ignoramus Susan Collins I said it that way. We have a bad attention span and we are just too nice and far too willing to play ball with those who have shown they will steal the ball every time if they get the chance. I am reminded about where nice guys end up usually.

This just came up on the FB page about 10 mins. ago. It hasn't opened for me as yet, but I think if this is the case something has really broken open and maybe enough to keep people on the edge of their seats while the committee is on leave.
-
Now I have the upper statement in here too.
- Occupy Democrats plans to go live.

Begin and end each day with an expression of gratitude and thanksgiving. Every morning when you awake you have been given the gift of a sunrise and twenty-four hours to live. This is a precious gift. You have the wonderful opportunity to take this day and live joyously, with appreciation for everything that you encounter. Take a deep breath and be grateful for this exhilarating experience of breathing in life and love. Similarly, end your day with an expression of love, and a repetition of the word for peace, "Shalom." -Wayne Dyer

Carlin did get this right a long time ago. Why anyone would want such deep and peresonal decisions decided by their religion anymore than by their government is beyond me, but I've ALWAYS been taught that Church and State are separate -- and they should be. Crossed lthat line some time back and now we have Extreme Church Lady on the SCOTUS no less. Time to do some deep repairs. I hope we get the chance -- and if we do, we need to TAKE it and not hold back.
-
Then again, speaking of Church.
-
If that is the case, the rapture can't come soon enough!

Jackie,
In the aftermath of Roe v. Wade being overturned and the elimination of abortion protections for millions, Data for Progress polled voters across the country to understand attitudes towards SCOTUS's decision. Our findings speak volumes.
Not only do voters oppose the decision to overturn Roe by a -20-point margin, but the decision has cast the court as illegitimate, with over half of likely voters expressing their belief that the current Supreme Court decides cases based on the Justices' personal political beliefs, instead of constitutional precedent.
Finally, more than half of voters believe future generations will have fewer rights than the current generation.
We know that voters strongly oppose Roe v. Wade being overturned, and now that the Supreme Court has made its decision, the consequences are already beginning to unfold.
Public trust and legal precedent have both been violated by the Supreme Court. This polling highlights the public's rebuke of the Supreme Court's attacks on personal freedoms—a sentiment we may see reflected during the midterms, as voters (particularly Democrats and Independents) state they are more likely to vote in November now that Roe has been overturned¹.
Restoring abortion rights needs to be a top priority for legislators, and in the coming months we must call on them to do everything in their power to expand access to reproductive care and justice.
This is from Data for Progress.

miriandra, I’m okay being left behind when the Rapture comes if this is what we’ll get. If only …
-
Where do you think trump will be during the rapture? Trying to get a pardon with Rudy?
-
Can someone please explain what the rapture is? I am not Christian and only have a vague understanding of the term. Worthy Christians will suddenly be swept up to heaven, is that it?
-
I thought the good people were supposed to be sweet up, but obviously I was mistaken!
-
I am confused since my DB who is a Jehovah Witness told me that only Jehovah's were going to Heaven and I, unfortunately as a non-Jehovah, would be relegated to hell. In either instance, from the above meme and his lips, I'll settle for hell if it means freedom from his fellowship and MAGA.

Yes, Caryn, that is essentially it: The Rapture is defined as "the transporting of believers to heaven at the Second Coming of Christ."
On a side note, the actor Kirk Cameron, a conservative Christian who now has an evangelical ministry, made a series of three or four “Left Behind” movies, based on a book series. The premise is about what happens to the world during the Rapture: A small group of survivors are *left behind* after millions of people suddenly vanish and the world is plunged into chaos and destruction. Airline pilot Ray Steele struggles to keep passengers calm and the plane in the air after the Rapture strikes mid-flight. Meanwhile, reporter Buck Williams becomes Ray's reluctant co-pilot, and Ray's terrified daughter Chloe braves the chaos of the city streets in search of her brother and mother.”
A lotta cults over the years have predicted what day this second coming of Christ would happen, but those dates have come and gone, so…..
-
It's also spawned lots of cynical jokes and memes about the holier-than-thou christians (the ones who give the kind ones who actually model Christ's teachings a bad name) suddenly disappear - then the rest of us can finally get on with healthy happy lives.
-
I think it is more that the "sweet" and "good" people aren't swooning over going anywhere. They don't seem to be in the hurry that the evangelicals and other types are. I think I'm not much of a 'rapture' person. I believe we go when we go, period.
-
Thanks, divine! That pretty much explains a bumper sticker I once saw that said something like, Vehicle will be unoccupied in the event of Rapture. I must admit that this is an alien concept to me and I didn’t hear of it until well into adulthood. Overall, belonging to a tiny religious minority in this country I am very worried about the future. Actually, these days I’m just flat out worried!
-
Worry has become a constant, hasn't it !!
-
A little levity before I turn in.

Over the years I have come to believe that life is full of unchosen circumstances, that being human has to do with the evolution of our individual consciousness and with it, responsibilities for choice. Pain and joy both come with life.I believe that how we respond to what happens to us and around us shapeswho we become and has to do with the psyche or the soul's growth.

Interesting times ahead. I'm sure there are already rebuttals being formulated about Ms. Hutchinson's latest testimoney. She was obviously being threatened by someone ??? and so rather than subject her to two more weeks of it, they laid it all out -- and the heat is on. If she is bothered more, it will just get worse ( hopefully ) for those who wish to intimidate .
This should bring on great fear for the Loon -- watch out for flying kepchup down there at Mara-Lago.
