    She may not be able to do a lot about some votes, but she is definitely someone we need for the balance I hope will soon ( after the election ) be coiming to our court.

    Oops, forgot to put in the picture of our new soon to come on the court judge, Judge Jackson. First black female Supreme Court Judge. Big shoes but I think she will fill them just fine.

    If I live to be a hundred ( which I probably won't ) but if I did, I'll still be shaking my head that this total lunatic was able to get himself installed in the WH and was almost alble to stay there.

    Another person who might have stayed in the government but got to close to the orange Loon. Why these otherwise bright and seemingly sane people choose to believe they can dance with Trump and not lose the dance contest is beyond me. I know Meadows saw others get close and go under. Maybe that was just how strongly Meadows was convinced that the Loon and cohorts could pull off a coup. What a ridiculous chance to take.

    May be an image of 2 people and text that says 'BREAKING NEWS: 2020 1 Morning Joe warns his longtime "buddy" Mark Meadows that he's in "deep shit" and in the "middle of this conspiracy" after Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony, urges him to"show courage" and finally "tell the truth." DOES MEADOWS BELONG IN JAIL? OCCUPY DEMOCRATS'

    So to that I say -- whatever fate may befall you Meadows and especially if it is jail time -- oh so sorry, NOT.

    Pastor Dave Barnhart, I would like to shake your hand for addressing the truths about most anti-abortion people. Once the birth has been accomplished the child and the mother don't matter because they have achieved their objective, a birth. For those who participate in pro-abortion rallies, perhaps having print copies of this to hand out or having it printed on a placard would make some think about their hypocrisy.

    I had 2 friends who sought abortions before they were legal and the relationships regarding the pregnancies were untenable. One had to undergo a battery of psychiatric evaluations (mandated at that time), suffering that indignity and scheduling delays resulted in her having an early second trimester hysterotomy abortion; the other flew to England (had to borrow money to do so) to seek hers only to be diagnosed with Group B beta strep vaginal infection which caused her spontaneous abortion. They treated her and told her if she had gone to term, the fetus would have suffered developmental damage due to this infection. So I am concerned that, as then, the rich had easy and private access to legal abortion while the middle and lower class did not. Neither friend met the criteria for "rich" and as if the unwanted pregnancy wasn't enough, had to suffer indignities at the hands of others.

    Republicans in Colorado have rejected three election deniers running for statewide office.

    Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters, who pleaded not guilty after being indicted earlier this year on 10 counts related to voting machine tampering allegations, lost the GOP nomination to take on Democratic Secretary of State Jena Griswold in November. In Colorado's GOP Senate primary, voters rejected state Rep. Ron Hanks, who showed up at the Capitol on January 6.And in the state's GOP governor primary, Greg Lopez, who has said he believes Trump won the 2020 election, has lost.

    Some justice does come, but not really enough for the behaviors of those Republicans, Ruth.

    A bit of a caveat on Colorado. Our primaries are open primaries, so independents can vote in either primary as long as they only vote in one. There was a significant surge of unaffiliated voters voting in the Rep primaries trying to vote down the worst of the batch. Our Dem candidates are pretty secure, so unaffiliated votes were less crucial.

    "Nearly 30% of the Republican primary ballots returned as of June 24 were cast by voters not affiliated with any party — double the number reported at the same point prior to the state's previous midterm primary election in 2018. Colorado law allows the state's 1.7 million unaffiliated voters — a larger group than either its 1.1 million active registered Democrats or its 956,904 registered Republicans — to vote in either party's primary election in a given year, but not both." - https://coloradonewsline.com/2022/06/27/unaffiliated-voters-give-colorado-republicans-turnout-edge-ahead-of-primary-election/

    Really with you Betrayal. That is the sort of piece that comes close to verbalizing so much of what I felt while not having the words. I know I have mentioned before that many yrs. ago I caused raised eyebrows by wearing a t-shirt to work that said " Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition. But the fact is for all the time that has passed -- we should have been much farther along than just Roe V Wade.

    Men are I think afraid that we'd actually be able to do it, and not only that but run things far better than they. So, I'm not suprised that they have chosen an 'un-equal ' state since they can't have babies.

    This opinion piece appeared in the 6/30/22 edition of my local paper The Times Union. I hadn't seen this Republican wish list laid out so clearly before. I like that the author, Carlin Meyer, suggests actions to take by those in New York and other states.

    The Texas Republican Party earlier this month adopted its platform, calling on Republican elected leaders to implement the following "through acknowledgment and action":

    A Reject "the certified results of the 2020 Presidential election" and affirm "that acting President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was not legitimately elected by the people of the United States"A Require students to learn that life begins at fertilization; prohibit the "teaching, exposure, and/or discussion of sexual matters" and remove related books or materials from schools;

    A Return Christianity to schools and government;

    A End gay marriage;

    A Eliminate the constitutional power to levy income taxes;

    A Treat homosexuality as "an abnormal lifestyle choice";

    A Reject the Equal Rights Amendment;

    A End all gun safety measures and arm teachers;

    A Withdraw from the United Nations and the World Health Organization;

    A Support returning prayer, the Bible, and the Ten Commandments to our schools, courthouses, and other government buildings;

    A Support the defunding of "climate justice" initiatives, the abolition of the Environmental Protection Agency, and repeal of the Endangered Species Act; and

    A Call for a vote on "whether or not the State of Texas should reassert its status as an independent nation."

    It's hard to know which of these planks is most appalling; together they represent a frightening rejection of principles upon which this nation was founded, embodied in the U.S. Constitution. New Yorkers don't share these views, and we should immediately call upon our state's Republican Party to reject each and every one of the Texas planks and publicly withdraw financial and political support of any candidate who does not do so. Simultaneously, we must demand our Legislature use this week's special session to pass to pass the Equality Amendment to prevent any future Legislature momentarily in the throes of an autocratic majority from undermining our rights and values. New Yorkers deserve to know where our Republican officials stand on these issues. If the GOP does not reject them, we must attend campaign events of every Republican for primary and general election insisting that candidates vow to reject each and every one of these planks, resoundingly — not with a whisper or mumble, as many are wont to do when faced with questions about where they stand. No candidate who declines to do so — and this means you, Rep. Elise Stefanik — deserves to hold office.

    Carlin Meyer of Palenville is an attorney and professor emerita of New York Law School.

    Anyone who requires an AR-15 to hunt, is not, by definition a hunter. They are slaughterers.

    Let's stop with the niceties and start exposing the true merits of being a Democrat trying to preserve democracy. The revisionist interpretation of the Constitution is going the way that some Christians interpret the Bible and not in a good way. They should not be able to parse out those sections of an Amendment that support their narrow "Christian" interpretation but look at all tenets of the Amendment. Breyer has pointed out their hypocrisy in interpreting the 2nd Amendment and warned of the dangers of their narrow vision focus. It does not reflect the true tenets of the Amendment and that does not bode well nor serve well for us.
