Raven way to go girl...Congrats on weight loss...I agree with you I am sticking to points....I can't deal with change and too much work right now...........My brain finally has points down and I am not going to screw that up right now....

Diane loved your poem!! How are you doing??
Marsha I hope your week slowed down a bit..Sounds like you were busy at work..WE miss you!!!!I am stuck this week..My weight remained the same...............
Diva's have a safe and wonderful Labor Day!! xoxo,Patti -
Hello Divas,
Well you'd think after walking 7 miles I would have lost at least 1 pound - NOT!!!!!!!
I had a bad day yesterday, went to see primary dr for the joint stiffness in hands and wrists (onc has me off Arimidex now for 3 weeks thinking that was cause - but it hasn't gotten better only worse!) So saw primary to get a jump on this whatever it is, gave me script for prednisone until I can see rheumatoligist. Had bloodwork done yesterday, my veins are now totally shot. My good spot is trashed after a year of blood draws for chemo - she stuck the needle in and nothing, she finally got some to come out but very very slowly (not enough - so she trashed it). Gave up there and tried the hand - not much better but was able to get what she needed. So I stopped at the favorite mexican down the street from work on my way back (oh - I was at the lab for 1 hr 20 mins - they only had one tech). After work, needed to do grocery shopping to shop for the diet food - veggies and fruit etc. and decided too hot to cook - too tired . . . so got fried chicken from deli.
Happy to report, that today is a new day and I will be good today!!!
Janet, how long will you be in San Diego???? I'm here in So. Cal a few hours away - my Mom & brother live in Carlsbad, which is only about 40 mins from SD. Marsha's down that way too. Be nice if we could arrange to meet. Congrats on your weight loss.
Eileen, good job on your pounds gone.
Thanks everyone for the kudos on my walk.
Marsha, where are you?? Training for your walk???
Diane, enjoyed the poem.
Hugs,
Lois -
Lois: Don't be discouraged. Remember you did have "heat stroke"only a few days ago. Your body might be trying to retain and replace all the fluids it lost. Just think to yourself how great it was that you did the 7 miles. I'll be in San Diego from tomorrow until Monday morning (unfortunately only a short trip since I own my own business and work by myself and figured the holiday weekend would be somewhat slow). We are actually staying in Coronado at the Loews. I'm very excited since I've never been to the west coast. - Janet
-
Janet,
Enjoy your trip - the weather will be great. I'm sure you've got your sight seeing all planned, but one place I always enjoyed was Balboa Park.
You might be right about the retention - makes sense. Problem is I'm on the stupid steriods now - so I'll probably be in "retention" for awhile now! LOL
Hugs,
Lois -
Way to go Lois..I did not loose anything this week..I am going to try like he)) to stay within my points this weekend also!! At least we all get back up on our feet no matter how many times it takes!! I say we are all on the road to weight loss....It may be a long one but I know we will do It... Good Luck Diva's !! xoxo,Patti
-
Hi Divas--hope you are all doing well and gearing up for the Labor Day Weekend. My Birthday's on Saturday (I was an actual Labor Day Baby back in 1961). I'll be weighing in on Sat. a.m. and not expecting good news with the week I've had. Oh well, there's always next week!
Lois--congrats on breaking a new barrier! By the way, steriods do increase your appetite. My 10 yr. old has asthma, and when she's sick and using the steriod inhalers, her appetite is just incredible. Hope your joint stiffness/pain improves!
Patti--you've got the right attitude--just hang in there no matter how long it takes. I have a friend (hope I'm not repeating myself here), she has been going to WW for the last 3 years and is now down 40 pounds (wants to loose about 10 more). Anyway, it took her 3 years but she just stuck with it. She says if she had been perfect the weight would have come off much faster, but she never gave up when she had a bad day or week or even month. So when I'm in a rut like this past week, I look at my friend for inspiration and I refuse to give up!!
Have a safe and enjoyable weekend everybody! Can't believe the summer's over :-(
Eileen -
Good Morning Divas,
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!! I have a new "two-step" partner, I lost a new pound!!!!! I did it, I lost a pound this week and it's one I haven't lost before!!!!! Today is weigh in day and I got on the scale and was at a new weight - 1 pound lost. I even got back on to make sure the scale wasn't acting up. I finally broke the barrier. I can't believe it's taken soooooooo long.
I thought I was back on track yesterday after eating the deli fried chicken, but I got home and kinda binged (I'll blame it on the steriods!) So it'll probably catch up to me in a couple days and that pound will come back, but I don't care - I'm happy I lost a new pound. I'm going to try real hard this holiday weekend to stay focused and eat right and exercise. I've got projects planned so I'll keep me busy.
Hope everyone is doing good this week.
Hugs,
Lois -
Hellooooo, Divas!!!
Sorry that I have been among the missing. I haven't made time to visit...too much going on.
Patti, I was stuck last week too. Do you think eating Chinese food for three straight days could have done it? I weigh in on Sundays, so I am hoping that I will show a loss this week. I'm sure you will start to lose again too. It's normal to have a week here or there where we don't lose. Have you checked out the WW discussion boards? Some of those people have plateaus that last MONTHS...I hope that doesn't happen to me.
Lois, You are my hero with the walking! You are doing so well despite the joint pain. And, you're right...you enjoyed your Mexican food and fried chicken for the special treats they were, but as a general practice, you are eating lower calorie, healthier foods. That's a great way to go through life. Congratulations on your pound loss.
Eileen, Great weight loss!!! And, HAPPY BIRTHDAY tomorrow!!! Here's a virtual cake for your celebration...no calories!!!
Janet, six pounds in six weeks is a terrific weight loss record, particularly on Tamoxifen. Keep it up. I wish you were going to be here on the West Coast a little longer. Lois and I would try to come down to see you. I'm sure you will have a terrific time in San Diego. There's so much to do there and Balboa is lovely.
Have a safe and happy holiday weekend everyone. See you next week. -
Marsha,
Glad to see you post - missed you. Hope you don't have the plateau I had - 2 months. Boy it can be discouraging.
Patti, hang in there and stay focused. I know you can do it.
Eileen,
Haven't been able to walk this week because of the 100+ weather, but getting up early tomorrow for a 7 am walk - should take care of the Mexican and fried chicken I had this week!!!!!
Have a great weekend!!!
Hugs,
Lois -
Hey Marsha....Welcome back to the trenches..WE missed you!!! I am having chinese for dinner tonight...I do not feel like cooking tonight! I am on strike.....I guess I better drinks lots of water tomorrow....Good luck with weigh in on Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Lois my two step partner love your messsage for Friday!! You are doing great!! Steroids in the mix ..No wonder ...They make you retain and make you hungry also!! I still think you are doing just great and you lost a pound..So that is fantastic!!!..And once the weather cools down you will be walking yes indeed walking yes indeed!! CAn you hear me singing??? LOL!!
Eileen Happy Birthday!! I hope you have a big bite out of Marsha's cake...It is fat free!! Wishing you a Happy Birthday Eileen!!!!!!!!!Enjoy your weekend...........
Janet I hope you are off having a blast for yourself..................We need you to get back so you can whip us in shape!!!!!!!!!!!!
Diva's have a wonderful and safe Labor Day!! The two step diva..BAck and forth up and down and hold.....Yes hold that is where I am.......xoxo,Patti -
Hi Ladies,
I have lurked enough. I would love to become a diva. I have been following this site forever and need a little encouragement.
3 and a half weeks ago, I started on a liquid diet except for dinner and have been having a light dinner. I have lost 10.5 pounds.
The sad thing is is that the only place I feel it in is my wrists. My watch and bracelet are hanging. You know everyone notices small wrists(yeah, right). Anyway, I have about 50 more pounds to go.
I can't believe I have done this to myself, I have always been thin. I am very active. I teach physical education and do all sorts of things with the kids each period. I wear a pedometer and usually have at least 15,000 steps on it. I really should be THIN!!!
Anyway, tonight I decided that we should go out to dinner. I only had a salad with grilled chicken and ate about half of it but then, I had some peanuts, a roll, and a big taste of my husband and son's pie. I know I shouldn't have but I am sure I will be up tomorrow.
Sometimes, my willpower just goes down the drain. I really want to lose this weight. It is not healthy and my son is getting married this summer and I don't want to be a fat mother of the groom.
So I am here to confess all of my food cheatings and cheer others on.
Good luck ladies and have a great weekend. Hope there is less of you when I write again.
Judy -
HI Divas as usual on the run here. still doing ww and staying with flex points. Hurt the ankle on treadmill so am sidelined for a week or too but am having physio to that. Hope you all have a restful weekend with your families and enjoy what is left of our warm weather. My weigh in day is thursday so I am a little late inposting. here is agood site for ww points.www.quiddity.cc/rachel/diet/wwfoods

I'm 73 and 3 weeks ago had a MRM with reconstruction. I had lost 60 pounds with a combination of Weight Watchers and Curves over the past 18 months and was in the best shape I had been in in years (no pun intended). I can hardly wait to get back to both, especially if I have to have chemo--which I won't know until this Friday when I see the oncologist.
Exercise alone wouldn't do it for me--I had been going to a gym. But WW and Curves together really made a huge difference.
It seems so ironic that when I was in such good shape the cancer showed up. But I'm sure it is helping my recovery after the mastectomy. I can't imagine what it would have been like 60 pounds ago!
Good luck, all of you. And by the way the WW web site has lots of great recipes..and so do a lot of other sites. Just look for "recipes" and "diet" on the web. Love you all....
Jeri -
Welcome Judy & Jeri to the Diet Divas!!!!
There is nothing sacred here, so confess all your sins here!!!! We all have our weak moments and it's good to get it out in the open.
Well, something is going on with me and I'm not sure what it is. I did walk 3 miles Saturday, yesterday I had such plans to do shopping for the rest of my stuff for the 3-day walk, but I was sidelined with a fierce pain in my wrist so I was on pain pills all day (the steriods are helping some - but not enough) - wierd thing - I weighed this morning and have lost another 2 pounds. Mine you, I'm not complaining, but after 2 months of nothing and now 3 pounds in 10 days ???? What's going on??? Have I broken the "weight barrier"??
Well, just checking in today. Getting ready to do the shopping I missed yesterday. Patti, hope you enjoyed the Chinese - "have you ever seen a fat China woman?" - drink lots of water to flush out that salt!!!!!
Floss, got to watch out for those treadmills!!! Hope your ankle is getting better.
Janet, hope you enjoyed San Diego - the weather was exceptionally hot this weekend.
Hugs All,
Lois -
I started the core plan at weight watchers.I've lost 6 pounds & I really like the plan.I start rads in the next week or so & the dr says I can only lose around a pound a week.My friend & I walk at the mall for an hour every morning before the mall opens.I just read an article about keeping the weight down to help prevent bc so I'll try anything
-
Hello diet divas, I'm back.
Lois and Marsha, you definitely live in an absolutely beautiful part of the country. My DH and I really loved San Diego, Coronado, the weather (even though it was warm), everything.
Now back to reality. I weigh in this afternoon.
Even though I made good choices in food and we did a lot of walking, I'm a little worried, but I enjoyed myself. (Not sure if a strawberry daquiri counts as a fruit.) Now back to counting point, gym and walking.
Eileen: Happy Belated Birthday!
Hope you all enjoyed the long weekend. Have a great week. - Janet -
Welcome Judy and Jeri--there's always room for more Divas here!
Thank you all for the birthday greetings. In honor of my birthday I gained back 1.6 poundsAnd then of course spent the Labor Day weekend going to BBQ's and eating birthday cake--not calorie free like the cyber kind! (Thanks for my cake Marsha--glad to see you posting again!). Okay the party is over and it's back to business now!
Lois--It sounds like you have broken through the weight barrier--good for you! Hope your wrist starts feeling better soon.
Dawn--great weight loss, glad you like the core plan. I'm thinking of trying it one week--just have to get organized and stock up on the right foods. They don't want you to loose a lot of weight during rads (I used that as my reason to not join WW's until I was done!), it throws off the calculations for the machines.
Welcome back Janet--so glad you had a great trip. I think we could allow a strawberry daquiri as a fruit--what do the rest of you Divas think? I'm looking forward to the Jones Beach Walk--I'm going to start "training" with one of my sisters--we're going to meet on Thursdays at Eisenhower Park and walk. I'm hoping all 3 of my sisters will join me at the walk--do you know where I can pick up more sponsor sheets??
Patti--I've been on strike where cooking is concerned for the past 10 months!! My kids are always shocked when I actually prepare a meal these days! I've got to get back in the swing of things. Lots of water will definitely help with the Chinese food! Love your singing!
Have a great week everyone!--Eileen -
Hi Everyone,
I should have joined this thread a long time ago.
When I was diagnosed back in 2002, I was in pretty good shape (around 126 pounds) but once I started chemo and lost my hair and felt like a slug, I ate everything in sight. Every chemo cycle showed more weight gained. I finally ballooned up to about 174.
It was really hard for me to lose the weight after chemo. I tried to lose it during radiation, but my doctor always scolded me for trying so I said what the heck.
This year though I decided to get back in shape since I am participating in the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk in San Francisco (with Lois and gang).
I liked the Weight Watchers points program but I needed something that was easier for me to stick to so I joined Nutrisystems. They send you your monthly food and it costs about $240.00 each month. I know it is expensive and the food is not that great, but my self esteem was worth it. I joined back in early May when I came back to work after my breast reconstruction. I am now down 40 lbs. right where I should be.
It still is a DAILY battle for me to try to maintain my weight - I enjoy eating (and drinking).
I also try every exercise thingie out there on the market but keeping up with a daily consistent exercise plan has helped me too.
Just wanted to say "Hi" - I know how hard it is to lose weight and get back in shape. It is one of the hardest things for me to accomplish!
Keep plugging away every day and be patient with yourself!
Hugs,
-Nancy -
Diagnosed in August; no treatment yet. Terrified of gaining more weight. I've had a problem all my life. I started Weight Watchers & it was seeming to work. Does it work for BC patients? Can they give you appetite suppressants? I thought you were supposed to be unable to eat& to vomit if you did during chemo. Isn't this true? Can you just stop eating? Gaining weight would make me lose what little sense of self worth I still have being so out of control.
-
LuckyAnna,
I think Weight Watchers is fine to be on during treatments. My oncologist OK'd that. My problem was that I did not have enough discipline to stay in my daily point range. Check with your oncologist regarding eating healthy to maintain or lose weight.
I had adriamycin/taxotere as my chemo treatments. I never got nauseated during the adriamycin (just once when I didn't drink enough water). I never lost my appetite either.
With the Taxotere, I had to take decradron (which is a steroid), so I think that added to my already "healthy" appetite. This is just me - you may be totally different during your treatments. I saw gals lose weight during their treatments while others gained.
I know how you feel too - I struggled my entire life with my weight.
Hugs,
-Nancy -
both my onco & rad dr let me stay on weight watchers.I start rads in the next week or so(hosp has no openings)& made sure I asked. She said as long as its only 1-2 lbs a week it is fine.I had a hard time on chemo doing it as I was sick the week of the chemo.I'm doing the new core program

Patti: I just want to remind you of my favorite saying from a Disney book my daughter had as a baby: "Slow and steady, steady and slow, that's the only way to go." I keep repeating this quote to myself with WW. It definitely helps to try to keep me focused even when I have small gains. I also found another old WW recipe that I think can be used on the Core Plan, and definitely on the Flex Points Plan. I'll have to post it.
Dawn: You are lucky your rad onc. will let you lose. I was told no more than a lb. either way for the 5 weeks, or it would throw everything off. Good luck with the Core Plan. I'm still doing the Flex Points, Core seemed to regimented for me. Let me know what you think it. Many people in my WW group have lost weight the past few weeks with Core.
I had a small gain this week (1.2 lbs.) but I know it's from my vacation and it was so worth it. Now I'm back on program and hopefully it will be all gone next week.
Hope everyone has a great week. - Janet -
Janet....Thanks for sharing the slow and steady quote..I will have to post it somewhere...I am having lots of cravings right now..Always that time befor dinner.....Oh well I am going to have a few grapes..............
Here are a few of my favorite diet quotes...
The cardiologist's diet: If it tastes good, spit it out. ~Author Unknown
I never worry about diets. The only carrots that interest me are the number you get in a diamond. ~Mae West
I've been on a diet for two weeks and all I've lost is fourteen days. ~Totie Fields

Have a great evening divas........xoxo,Patti -
Hello Divas,
Welcome to all of the ladies who have started posting here. We are definitely in this together and the more women we have here, the more support we all get.
Patti, your quotes are cracking me up. Thanks for the laugh and congratulations on your weight loss. Have you considered the "Walk Away the Pounds" DVDs? They really are great and you can walk even when it is raining...just a thought.
I'm still losing. It's been so hot that I'm definitely overeating on the popsicle front, though. I can't switch to Core, Janet, because it doesn't have popsicles and I would use up the 35 flex in about 35 hours. I'm glad that you enjoyed San Diego. We had our hottest weekend of the year just for you!!! And, I'm sure you are right that you will lose any weight gained on vacation right away. I always gain a little when I fly because I tend to retain fluid when I'm not moving around.
Eileen, glad you had a nice celebration or two. You deserve to enjoy yourself. Now we just need to invent food with no calories...or figure out how to have the metabolism of a hummingbird!!!
Lois, How are you doing on your training for the 3-day walk? You are fantastic to take on such an incredible challenge. I am really looking forward to meeting you.
Well, onward we go. I can't wait for autumn. Unfortunately, we don't start to cool down until Halloween.
On another topic, I have been off Femara for about two weeks now and I'm already starting to feel more normal mentally. I'm still having some cognition issues, but it's not as bad as it was. No change in the hot flashes, but I took two Benadryl Tuesday night and slept about five hours without waking. That's the longest uninterrupted sleep I have had since I hit chemopause. I couldn't believe how good I felt. Sleep truly "knits the ravel'd sleeve of care" or words to that effect.
And, on even another topic (my, I'm chatty tonight), I'm going tomorrow to see my hair stylist for the first time since diagnosis. I still have bald spots, but I'm going to see if she can put some color on this salty, peppery mess so that I can stop using mascara to color the edges that show when I wear my wig.
And, finally, I am providing the food for a party on Saturday for a get-together of some of my friends. We try to see each other once or twice a year when everyone can get to California at the same time. I hope it cools down just a tad in spite of the weather forecast for no change. (The party is another reason why I would like color on my hair.)
Okay, I'll stop twittering on and on and on. You now are privy to all of the minutiae of my life...That is how I picture you ladies as you read this post...talk to you soon.
-
Hello Divas,
Well just looking at the new "board" - I think I like the new look. Just a quick post, I've been really busy this week. I did get to weigh in with my 2 lb. loss this week - good news!!! Despite that I seem to be eating alot - I'm still blaming it on the steroids, but it is also boosting my metabolism so I must be burning off the food. Haven't walked with week, too darn hot. Going to try for 3 miles tomorrow early.
Patti, glad you register a loss. Just keep at it - we'll get there together.
Janet, I'm happy you enjoyed San Diego. Next time, stay longer and Marsha and I can meet up with you.
Marsha, Well you should be proud of yourself too. You've been doing really well with your WATP tapes and you'll be doing the 5k this month. If you can do 9 miles on your tapes, the 3+ will be a cinch!!! The weather has been very hot the last 2 weeks. I hate it!!!!! I should consider the WATP DVD's, I can do that downstairs where it's cool. Of course, I have the Tae Bo tapes, but been too lazy for that lately.
Well, got to run - hope everyone has a great weekend.
Hugs,
-
Hi diva's trying to learn my way around the new and improved board..So far doing ok....
Hey Lois congratulations !!! That is wonderful...When I was on steroids I ate everything in sight..........You have a lot of will power!!
Marsha I am going to look for the tapes...Did you order them online??
WEll diva's gotta go..I have to learn my way around here again!! Have a great weekend diva's...xoxo,Patti -
Hello Divas,
I stayed the same this week. I thought for sure I would lose. I was very good. But I guess it is better than gaining.
It has been so hot here. I teach Physical Education and it was my turn to be outside. Everyday was over 100 and I am sweating(excuse me-some wonderful lady in the South said that women don't sweat-we glisten). Boy did I glisten this week.
I plan on trying to be very good this weekend and at least lose a pound before Monday. I have a great workout machine and I will record everything I eat on www.fitday.com. It is wonderful and I put down EVERY little bite.
Have a wonderful weekend. This is a great thread.
Judy(I want those great pictures you guys have under your names--too cute.) -
Patti,
Bought them at Target. Be sure you get the set with the Get up and Get Started, High Calorie Burn and Super Fat Burning. She has some old sets out there that I don't like as well. I think you can buy them on-line, too. Check out the Fitness Getting Started forum on the WW boards. They usually list a couple of web sites that people find stuff on.
