    Hey All,

    We're doing our best… really.

The focus of BCO is fixing the current state of the community and then improving the community overall to be the best we can be. We really can't express that enough. You and we all want the same thing in the end!

The goal of the new platform is to be able to not only upgrade to features that have been mentioned (including a chat function), but to be able to more easily engage newbies (and legacy members) with helpful ways to get and give support.

Wonderland, yes we rolled back the deployment that flipped the HER2 status until we can figure out what went wrong, correct it, and then deploy again.

Nipab, thank you for reporting your issue. We are aware of issues with saving edited diagnostic information, and also with misinformation saving. We are in the midst of working on a fix for this.

Serenity, you may have experience with more recent community platforms. Unfortunately the platform we are currently built on is over a decade old -- which, as we're sure you're aware, is ancient in terms of technology. Our current platform was custom built a long while ago on Ruby on Rails (a now nearly-unheard-of platform with a minority of techs who know the system well). While we have made some minor, but necessary, updates over the years, it is definitely time for a new one; which is the entire point in upgrading to an up-to-date system that can handle updates without breaking the platform. Although we have known the platform is old and outdated, we did NOT anticipate that the recent changes were technologically too taxing on the current platform and would cause the issues we have experienced.

We are moving swiftly to select the best platform that will have all the desired features our members, and team, have been wanting and needing to make your experience, and that of newcomers, the best it can be. In the meantime, we are working through – glitch by glitch, carefully – to get us to better-functioning in the current state, as that is all we can do right now to keep you connected, supported, and supportive.

Thank you once again for your input.

All the empty promises from BCO, and only from the Mods and not BCO leadership. Ugh! Over 7 weeks into this fiasco and still a growing list of problems. The word "deliverables" comes to mind. In the business world and in any public organization, gathering data, working with customers, planning for change, leadership during all these stages, and then developing timelines, goals and deadlines, engaging a team, product development, testing, and, finally, following through and evaluating the finished product are essential to stay in business. BCO is taking no responsibility for their failure to gather user input, plan, develop, and test before imposing this on us. It's like they want to build the plane while flying it, and now since they started talking about replatforming, they want us to jump to another dysfunction in-flight plane building project!! That has not worked, and members and new people praying for help find instead, a non-functional mess.

I, too, remember when I joined years ago, the discussion boards were very active. Many days (24 hour period, not the current 5-6 days that now only generate around 100 total active threads) there were over 200-300 active threads daily, and it was hard to keep up with the traffic. With each attempt by BCO to "update" these boards and push people toward their medical content pages (the Learn side), membership is continuing to drop off and traffic is way down here. Maybe their ultimate goal is to drive us who want to hold them accountable away, but since they use our traffic stats in their glossy promotion pieces to their big donors, it appears they still need us. Kind of like the first part of the story of Cinderella--we can use the poor step-child, but we don't have to treat them well! I have long felt used here by the BCO desire to use our traffic data, online connection hours, their desire to collect our diagnosis information, our profiles, and our signing up for "recommendations." I won't ever sign up to upload my medical records, fill out my profile and recommendations, and have over the years eliminated much of my diagnosis lines, but, now with this dysfunction, much of my diagnosis line has magically reappeared, and I have not be successful in correcting that--I suppose I have to wait for the long promised fix before I can limit what diagnosis info I post.

It all boils down to BCO feeding potential and big donors the notion that BCO is the best, the most useful, the most beneficial place for BC information and help. They want that reputation to be from the "Learn" side of BCO and not the discussion boards. It's where they put their money and their premature tooting the horn of the "fresh, now look" of the redesigned BCO website. These discussion boards came as an afterthought. Such disrespect for the BCO "community."

Still waiting for acknowledgement by Wohl and Hollingsworth of the failure of the premature March 1 launch of a redesign no one here had input in or testing of before then. There has been no "deliverables" other that members leaving, endless frustrations with non-working site and features, and a few pats on our heads for "helping" them identify problems--problems created by the lack of planning and tech expertise. We get it! We aren't your big donors, only a voice to help newcomers on the site and to build relationships with others here, but we still deserve more than what we're having to put up with to remain here to help others.

So tonight as I try to log on, my Firefox browser has notified that BCO's certificate has expires and it's a security risk!!! I powered through, but not happy. THis isn't a really hard thing to PLEASE renew/correct. Here's the message:

    Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead

Firefox detected an issue and did not continue to community.breastcancer.org. The website is either misconfigured or your computer clock is set to the wrong time.

It's likely the website's certificate is expired, which prevents Firefox from connecting securely. If you visit this site, attackers could try to steal information like your passwords, emails, or credit card details.

What can you do about it?

The issue is most likely with the website, and there is nothing you can do to resolve it. You can notify the website's administrator about the problem.

Websites prove their identity via certificates, which are valid for a set time period. The certificate for community.breastcancer.org expired on 4/20/2022.

    Error code: SEC_ERROR_EXPIRED_CERTIFICATE

I just had an issue logging in and my computer said the site was "not secure". Do not know if it is an issue or something going on but have not had that issue before.

"Attackers might be trying to steal your information from community.breastcancer.org

    IS THIS ACCURATE?

    Mods,

Your tech team replaced the expired certificate from a valid certificate authority with a self-signed certificate. The new certificate while valid is not "trusted". Is this temporary until a valid one can be installed? A self-signed certificate is not a best practice.

You still think we should trust you with any of our data?

"Thank you both for alerting us to this issue. We are aware of it and are working to resolve it ASAP"

So, did we alert you to it or were you aware already and working on it?

You see how it is hard to trust what you say?

To be clear, we became aware simultaneously as you alerted us. We were alerting our team, as you were alerting us. Thank you

And you want us to load our MyChart info onto this magical-thinking new & improved site? You're out of your collective minds. Let's all consider this a big warning, and a reminder that nobody at BCO has a clue. About anything.

    Alice, Ceanna -

I deleted my details last month. I added a diagnosis just now and was able to delete it. Do you see the Delete button?

Sigh. Only got rid of the diagnosis and treatment part, not the rest. I'll try tomorrow, if I feel like bothering with this site.

    Hi webfolk,

I want to update my personal information by adding a change in treatment. When I tried to do so, I could not find any of my previous information - dx, treatment to date, etc., entered before your new website launched. Instead, site has just some pieces of information about my history, and it indicates not complete. When I try to complete it, info doesnt "take" after hitting update, so that next day, newly added info is not there. Also my choices under various categories are weird. E.g., my first cancer is DCIS, but then questionsabout where cancer has metasized (nowhere then, but no option for nowhere on your list)) or questions about lymph nodes removed begins with 1 (none removed ). It is as if because I later had other diagnoses that included lymph node removal, and metastases, the questions selected by BC website presume those later questions apply to the DCIS. I tried to fix the info today on my Android phone, after being unable to do so on my Ipad. I have the latest operating systems on each. Can you tell me where my info is and what might be going awry?

PS. Aha. Now that I posted my problem Ican see that you have my current information from previous website without the very latest changes I have tried to add. Can you fix the website so one can see what is already in ones personal dx, treatment hx?

Hi moominmamma, thanks for posting! We are aware of the issues with the diagnostic and treatment information not updating since March 1. We are working to remedy this and hope to have a fix very soon. We will alert all here on this thread once this has been fixed!

    So sorry for the frustration!

OK. You may also know that if you put in metastatic breast cancer, indicates missing diagnosis, questions try to ask about breast tumour size, only allows for 1 site for metastases ( e.g. i have it in lymph nodes and bones), cannot enter percentage positive for ER, PR, and that genomic testing options do not include all but system chooses one from your list only(I had mine done at Tempus). At least need NA and other options!

I can add/edit/delete diagnoses now but for treatments section, even though I have a whole bunch showing when I post, when I go to to the profile, none of them show; so I cannot edit them or change whether they're public...all I can do is add new ones. It's been like this for me since the change.

Please get rid of the box asking are you sure you want to log out. With the old site, if you clicked log out you were logged out. Now I have to click on my initial, get taken to another page, click log out and then click again that I am sure I want to log out. As has been stated before, this new design is NOT user friendly.

Well, let's see what shows up since I have deleted everything but my name and email, both private. Oh, and I noticed that when I still had the diagnosis of invasive lobular listed, the recommendation I got from BCO was an article on ductal. If the threads weren't so damn slow, I'd go to each one and warn the new members to NOT put in ANY information.

Edited to add that it seems impossible to get rid of the surgery and radiation information, although it's no longer in my profile.

    Alice,

In the My Accounts > Your Treatments, you don’t have anything showing? That’s where I was able to delete my info. Instead I use the Signature in Settings to display my info.
