Cats, cats, cats

Pywacket is so cute and love the above meme. My youngest cat has become the great cricket killer. I don't even know they are in the house until I see her batting something around on the floor. When I finally get a look it is a splatted cricket usually minus one leg. She doesn't eat them, just flattens them. Great game hunter.

Love the cat in the piano. I have a cat like that who sleeps though noise that scatters the other two. I know she is not deaf because she can hear me open a tabbed can of catfood when she is in another room. Selective deafness? Probably likes the vibration of the piano keys.

Yup, she can be totally out of sight but open that can or the pantry door and she is front and center. The lone male is thin and his favorite hiding space in the basement is on the top of a cabinet that is about 5 inches from the dropped ceiling. He manages to flatten himself and be comfortable there. Neither of the butterball females would attempt that because they would get stuck. He's also my steadfast bedmate while the females are couch only cuddlers. However, if you came to my home, you'd only see one cat, the one who is the chowhound. The other two scatter.

My DB says he is aware I have a gray cat but only because he has caught a fleeting glance of his butt as it disappears around the corner. He normally hides upstairs but even when my DB has spent hours working up there, he has yet to see him. When I went to the rescue to view him (found a posting about him online and specifically went to see just him since I love gray cats), he was not in the cat room. When I asked where he was the site manager told me he was hiding in the console (a huge piece of furniture) and that she would extract him and bring him to the bird room for me to see. She brought him in and I waited until he was willing to take a sniff (about 20 minutes). I talked to him and he circled for about another 10 minutes before he climbed on my lap. Needless to say he came home with me that day to his forever home since he had had 2 previous homes. One brought him to shelter for neutering and never returned; the second adopted him and turned him out on the streets where he was found eating from a garbage can. He was just over a year old when I adopted him. He was chipped and it was a real bear to get the chip reassigned to me which took an intervention for the shelter to do so.

question is how does Macavity get up there in the first place? Does he climb the curtains sinxe it looks too far to leap?

Betrayal - I wish he climbed the curtains (those would be easier to replace) - but no, he scales up the post. He is bad to the bone but very lovable and affectionate. This is #3. Her name is Brie. I got her when Mac was a year old in a desperate attempt to keep him occupied. My grandson, who was 3 at the time, wanted to name her “Cheese" so I would have Mac and Cheese. We compromised on Brie. She is the fattest cat I have ever had and considers jumping on to the couch to be her days exercise!

Janie: My "Brie" is named Smudge due to the smear of black on her otherwise white chin. She is black, white and orange and has never met a meal she did not like (forgot: not true since none of them liked the Fancy Feast salmon). She is affectionately known as "Pudge" due to her girth and she was truly smaller when I rescued her and the reason we abandoned a self-feeder for dry food. Her exercise consists of visiting the other two cars "feeding spots" (they each have a designated area) to finish off what they have left behind. She manages to launch her bulk up to the kitchen island to do so and then waits for one of us to lift her down if we are available, otherwise she seems to be able to do it. She will even finish off the dog's food if she doesn't eat it all. She is lovable, just not a flyweight.

We received our newly adopted kitty yesterday. She's exploring the upstairs bedrooms this morning. She's a real chonk and will need a very slow diet to slim down a bit. Her name is Bella and it suits her gold and brown tabby. I didn't realize she was a Manx until we got her. It feels funny to pet and not have a tail to end with. She was pretty overwhelmed yesterday and ran when she saw us, but today she's just wandering around and will come for pets. I'll post photos when I'm able.
