AlwaysHope,
Your PM box is full!!!!
Denise -
I made a couple with only one stand going across both side of the pegs and they are light and a little airy? but not bad. I think I could come to like them. I started chrocheting another color at work and got about a third of the way through a square during my lunch today.
Oh and I put an add in the Seattle Craigs List about the squares or if anyone wanted to donate yarn last night and already have one reply. So that was a great idea Binney! -
Full??? Okay, I went in to clean it out and have messages all the way back to 2005. How's that for a pack rat? Funny but it doesn't give me any warnings about being full.
-
Okay, I cleaned out some of my pm's and now I have a flashing envelope but no unread messages that I can find!!! How odd is that?
-
I've been knitting up a storm, but was using size 8 needles and seemed to take a long time to finish each square, so I've jumped up to 10. I hope that's ok. I've got some to mail to Madison this week and should have some for Vickie, too. My mom is making some squares, too, so when I get to Alabama next weekend I should have a bunch more to send.
-
alwayshope,
I'm glad you cleaned out your inbox...wish I remembered what I sent ya now!!
It was something about using 2 strands of worsted 4 ply yarn when I make my squares. I like it that way, I made a couple with just 1 strand and I wasn't happy with the way they turned out.
I haven't seen a "Ugly" square yet, they are all beautiful and unique....just like us!
Oh, on second thought, I have seen an "UGLY" square. I bought this really pretty green varigated yarn. My squares came out looking like they belonged in a bunker in Irag. Not kidding, Vickie was the lucky one to get those! They should win the prize!!
Love and Hugs,
Denise -
Shel, I was teasing you. Would I have said, "shhhhh, don't tell her" if I wasn't joking? C'mon you know I was kiddin, I promise not to tease you anymore. And that's gonna be tough considering I like to joke around, I thought you'd have a snappy come-back. Sorry if I offended you. I wuv you.

Well, I tried the purple nifty knitter with just one strand of worsted weight and its so airy you could drive a truck through the loops so I guess I will use two strands. It still seems like it will be very loose even with 2 strands. Still going to go find the pink one tomorrow.
-
Ok first off all...SHEL...get your silly butt right back here! You know how Cheri is when she's had a couple of the blue drinks (shhh...don't tell her I told you but she has a "little problem".)
On a happy note...I HAVE A HUGE YARN DONATION!!!!
YIPPPEEE. Ok ladies...it is huge...15 garbage bags full of yarn of nearly every color. Now here is the funny part. All the yarn is rolled into balls and they are two colors wrapped together. There is purple and white, red and white, black and white, blue and white...etc. Perfect for the knifty knitters!!! PM me if you need yarn because I seriously have LOTS!!! The yarn came from Nates babysitter...she knew a women who had it and asked her if she was going to use it and she said no she wanted it to go to all of us. I will find out her name and send her a thank you from us all.
Back to crocheting. Going to see a play with Nathaniel tonight but I'll check back later.
Love to all
Vickie -
Vickie, fantastic yarn donation!!!! Let me know if you need $ to mail the yard to anyone.
Shel, I agree with Vickie, you know how Cheri is when she gets those blue 'rinks-come back.
Well, I just found my crochet hook....I couldn't find it for about 1/2 an hour...then found it behind my ear. I had put it there like we do pencils....yep, crazy!
Love, Madison -
Now you girls know I'm a friendly drunk! And quite uninhibited...but not as much as Vickie!
Jazmanian, I tell you what I do with the Knitter. It's simple. I'm not going to the trouble of trying to keep 2 skeins of yarn untangled I have enuf trouble with one. If I have real thin yarn I wrap a Total of 4 times, I don't like this as well as the yarn I can wrap only 2 plus the one I pull over. Jaz, you just go through the same motions as the beginning cept you're repeating and adding more yarn and they come out fluffy and so soft and thick. Just figure the thickness of your yarn, you said it came out real thin, I'd wrap it 4 times, that means you'll be pulling 3 strands over the one left on the peg.
I bet that was clear as mud,lol

Vickie, I pm'd that I sent off a package. I wish I knew what I did with the other finsihed square. I guess you are right, it is the lack of estrogen. Anyway, I know you are using black for the borders. I found a load of navy yarn in our stash. I have to see if it is wool or not. If it is acrylic, do you want it for borders? I don;t think it would look good as a square because of putting blue and black together. Maybe I can find another lighter weight to go with it? What do you think? I have baby yarn I can mix in. If not, I can always make someting out of it!
Happy hooking all! -
Thanks Cheri. I've actually got a good start on one using 2 strands from different skeins and I think I like it. It seems to be that pattern someone was looking for previously where it looks like its braided. Its got alot of stretch to it. I ended up using 10 pegs because I like for my 'stripes' to be vertical and I think the afgains have the rectangles oriented as 7" horizontal and 9" vertical. Its an anal retentive issue.
Beth, you could try adding in maybe a white strand with the navy and I bet it would look nice. Or maybe a nice mauve/rose color. -
My gosh! Untangling a big wad of yarn is like Christmas lights. I cannot keep one skein untangled how in the world do you girls use 2??
cheri -
I've only been pulling out very short bits at a time to wrap one way. I have to say that I really like this knifty thing now that I've got it working. Very fast! I've almost got one rectangle done in just under an hour. The crochet stitch I was using took hours.
-
yeah, but you know I enjoy crocheting if I could just get them even on the sides, more than the knitter. Just each persons preference, my dd loves the knitter too. I've been watching one move on the CD that Liz sent me over & over and I still cant get it even and I'm doing it right except for one part. Oh well, the knitter gets them out faster.

Wow, Vickie! That's great! I was feeling really good because I picked up about 1 garbage bag full of yarn from my MIL yesterday, but 3 - that's fantastic.
I'm off to crochet!
Anne -
I think I PM'd everybody who asked for a couple new stitches. If I missed someone, please let me know!
Anne -
Um Anne...I have 15 garbage bags full!!! Oh my I think I'm buried in yarn. Such a wonderful surprise!
Please ladies...if you need yarn pm me and I will send some on its way...I need room to move LOL! Looks like a yarn store exploded in my living room!!
Love and hugs to all

Totally off topic here but here goes...
Hi ladies.
I started a Nukemboobie exchange several months ago in the Radiation thread. I sent out two boxes filled with goodies, the recipients could take out as many things as they wanted, add the same number of things and send the box to the next person on the list. We also had a journal project going and everyone was writing their "story" or their feelings and adding pictures of whatever they wanted. WELL...the boxes have disappeared. I know where they were last but get no response from my pm's to the girls who had them last. Lost in the mail...not sent onward...I don't know.
SOOOOO....I decided to repost under that thread that I would like everyone to redo their journal pages and send them directly to me as my sister has offered to put them in Adobe and I have a bookbinder who will make them into books for each of us.
The journal was the most important and the most anticipated part of this project and there are some heartbroken ladies who so very much wanted to see the finished project as they put their heart and soul into it along with pictures, drawings etc.
I am inviting anyone here who would like to join in to journal a few pages and send them to me. Add whatever you like and we will include it into the book. Just a loving, encouraging book all about us...our feelings, thoughts, hopes for the future, rants...whatever you wish to say would be included.
If you are interested in joining in...pm me and I'll send you my address.
I will probably repost this a couple more times here so forgive me for repeating myself but I want everyone to see it and get as many pages as I can.
Love and hugs
Vickie -
Wow Vickie, that's a donation! I am interested in the journal thing, but am lost. I know nothing about what was going on with box and journal, I'll try to back track and find it.
AlwaysHope, Yeah....another knifty knitter! I love it, cuz I understand it and because it doesn't hurt my wrists. I like using the two strands as one also. It makes them a bit thicker and I think they hold shape good. And yes, it does look kinda like a braid.
Cheri: Keep knitting, but don't gag on the Red!
Hugs,
Denise -
Just had to put them all together..they are so wonderful...
-
Thank you Lisa! How nice. It's wonderful to see all of them that have been made. What a good idea.

Nice Idea Lisa! They are so pretty. I am amazed at how fast this project took off! So many good, generous ladies out there wanting to make other people smile!!
I have to thank both Vickie and Madison, for their patience with me! I had no idea how to even buy a skein of yarn when this started.....and I asked them so many questions that i'm sure they wanted to put a block on their pm's!! You be the bestest!!
Hugs,
Denise -

Jule -
