Fellow catters as I write this I am watching over my old boy, Charlie, who is very very ill. I had him at the kitty hospital for two nights for fluids and medicines. They wanted to do an ultrasound but really he is showing signs of liver failure (he is jaundiced) and has severe pancreatitis that may be related to a cancerous growth so I decided to just bring him home, keep him as comfortable as possible then let him go when the time is right which may very well be tomorrow.

He is so happy in his little kitty bed, I have the door open to let in fresh air so I think a much better choice than the trauma of emergency vet care. I am getting purrs and biscuits but no interest in food.

Charlie's nickname is "Chuck". A family joke was to always ask "whats up, chuck?" because he has always been a specialist at hacking something up - upchucking as it were.

I know you all understand where we are. What amazes me is since my diagnosis is my inability to handle emotions and stress as well so it takes a lot of agonized waffling to come to a decision about things. I sure didn't use to be this way. I am getting used to people thinking I am a little nuts. I will try and post a pic of my sweet boy soon.

I'm sorry to hear that. We kept all our cats home so they would be with us for their last moments too. The last hours/days will be a devastating yet very precious time.

Rah2464: So sorry to hear about "Chuck". Losing a pet is like losing a beloved family member and may he just go to sleep in the comfort of his home surrounded by love.

I hear you about making decisions since your dx. You are not alone in this respect. Equivocation is something I have experienced as well since dx. Hate it but don't care if someone regards me as nuts.

Rah, It's the most difficult time with a furry family member. I hope Charlie passes easily surrounded by love in his familiar and loved home. Love certainly has a price tag in the end. (((((Rah)))))

Rah2464 I had to make that same choice for my 20 y/o kitty Chloe the last week of my radiation treatment. That was so so hard, so I am walking with you as you give your Chuck the exit he deserves. I know that's how I would want to go, surrounded by the people I love, in a comfy bed. Much love to you <3

Charlie in better days. Also known as

    Upchuck

    Chuckles

    Charlie bell

    No-drama chuck

I think the more nicknames you have the more loved you are. I think the name upchuck is pretty descriptive of his biggest talent. Charlie appeared one late Spring evening (it was so cold) huddled in a fence row. My then dog Caesar, found him and started barking like crazy. He weighed 1.5 lbs at the vet. I never did find a momma cat or any other kittens, but it was dark outside so who knows. Still a mystery how he found us because he was a pretty good distance from the road for such tiny legs. He loves loves loves to nap in any sunshine spot he can find. Just goes all in.

Great story about Charlie. He was lucky to have been found by Caesar and lucky to have a lifetime of naps in sunbeams. Think of him when you see them.

Good morning, cat lovers. My tiny cat, Midnight Louie, woke me up a 5 this morning. He just wanted to purr. I was able to go back to sleep for a couple of hours.

Grace has gotten into an odd habit the last month. In the middle of the night she will jump up on the bed and meow to wake me up to either cuddle her under covers or just to get a few scritches before she settles down again.

Princess is still being Princess and cuddling down by my feet once I settle in for the night.

Good morning, cat lovers. Miss Felix had a jealousy fit, yesterday. She was sitting on the couch with cat daddy and I. Midnight Louie jumped on the back of the couch laying behind my head. Felix was hissing and howling at the top of her lungs. Cat daddy had to put her up and carry her into the bedroom with him. She would not stay and went to closed door to continue hissing and howling. Midnight Louie must of thought this is stupid let me out on the lanai and then all was quiet. They are as bad as children.

Ms Felix and Midnight Louie would be bored without each other. It's probably the most excitement in their day.
