Gardening, anyone?

FYI, poisonous to cats. Be sure to keep it out of their reach.

It's discouraging how many plants are supposedly poisonous to cats. For sure African violets aren't. One of our cats ate the back corner of one and was just fine.

I wanted to check in here with some of our Australian sisters who post with their summer updates while we are here in the north are in the throes of winter. You are so on my mind and in my heart during these terrible fires. We have watched them ravage California here the past few years and know the magnitude of yours are far worse.

Our front flat is now Lake Foley - All the snow melts when it hits the ground - so we are very saturated here. No real plants here atm. Lots of birds on my homemade suet though:

I just found this page! I am so excited! This time last year, I was never outside and could hardly get out of the chair having just finished A/C and starting HTP. I have my last HP on Tuesday and cannot wait for spring to arrive. My jonquils are sprouting and will bloom soon. DH and I are planning to redo a flower bed. Any suggestions for low growing, partial sun shrubs? I had hydrangeas there but it is too hot and bright for them.

Mommy- I love the zygo (Xmas cactus) as it is low care and produces beautiful blooms, often twice a year. Spider plants are hardy too!

This pot I had outdoors has a spider plant and it is thriving in my bay window. I put my little fairy house and bridge in here but the plants are overtaking.

TwoHobbie - thank you! I'll look for those! We have been wet and cold for a week. I am craving sunshine!!

We had a warmer than average January here in the desert SW. I noticed a few things are starting to green up along the base of some of my shrubs and perrennials. We still have winter here for awhile yet, so I told them "too soon, you need to slow it down." But the groundhog says early spring, so we will see.

Less than 5 weeks to daylight savings time and then a few more weeks after to the official beginning of spring. I am watching some of the fruit trees begin to really bud out in readiness for their blooms later this month into early March. I see signs of spring....

GMA- oh lovely to see. After mentioning the little springs of green, we have a snow storm here today. We may see our daffs here in another month.
