I took a walk after dinner (which is my breakfast), and knew you'd all enjoy this kitty:

Those Sphinx cats are too cute. I have never seen one up close and personal. My elderly cat has hyperthyroidism, which does make her anxious. She takes medication and labs have her in normal range. She also is diabetic, but no longer on insulin. She has arthritis and on pain medication. Poor little cat. Usually in day time hours she is her cute little self, but may have some meowing outbursts for no reason. At night it can be bad. It wasn't until she was 21 that we ever heard her meow. She would squeak, just tiny little meows. She would sit in my lap and tell me little cat secrets. When it was time for her insulin, she would get in my lap and tell me what location to use. I did a video of it. The vet loved it. LOL

A friend in Seattle was feeding semi-feral cats at her house. When she decided to move to another city, only 1 was tame enough to go with her. She arranged with friends to relocate the wild ones to their home and they would continue to feed. One, named Rocket, would not come into the house or allow petting. He was sleeping under the friend's house so she bought a dog bed and taped it into a cylinder so the cat would have a warm place. One morning, something had dug out the spot where Rocket slept and the dog bed was torn up. Rocket was gone. Three weeks later, Rocket turned up at their door. He entered the house and has not left since. They feed him separately from the other cats to keep the peace, but Rocket has decided his outdoor days are over.

All the above photos are cats met in South West India. I was there as a parent volunteer on DD's school's cultural exchange. Cats there are mostly feral or else the equivalent of "barn cats".

The first photo is a little scrap of a kitten that we met at a roadside cafe. Heartbreaking as it was situated on a really busy road and this little kitten was going in and out scrounging, but so near to a busy road, very dangerous.

There is not a lot to scrounge for as most cafes, restaurants and homes are vegetarian. I suppose the cats get some dairy to supplement their diet. The cat in the middle photo, on the mat was a barn cat at the boarding school we were staying in.

The two in the last photo were barn cats at a neighbouring farm.

Beautiful little kitties. They're tiny! The ones here are also, I think they live fairly hard lives :(

My Snickers, who is somewhere between 16-19 we think, often howls at night but usually only for a few minutes at a time. Seems like she does it more when it's dark, so we think she either is keeping herself company or trying to remember where we are. I usually hear her and tap on my nightstand, and then she comes up on the bed. years go when we first adopted her, she cried most of the night, probably because she didn't have any any other cats around to sleep with. I always felt so bad for her and I wish I had insisted on getting two. But I caved when my husband said one was enough.

That's really sweet Wren. Good decision on Rocket's part.

    What a pretty kitty feelingfeline.

Had to take one of my male cats, Irie, to animal hospital yesterday. He had felt bad, didn't eat for two days. Wasn't sure what to expect but the vet examined and said he had a urinary tract blockage and needed immediate surgery. They called today and said he is stable, unblocked, and doing well and will likely be ready to come home tomorrow. Sure hope he continues to to get better..

Wow those kitties are tiny. I hope that people look after them. They likely do live fairly hard lives.

    FF those sweet kitties.

Kat glad to hear your Irie is doing ok. Sounds like he is very lucky to have such an observant mom!

I successfully captured black barn cat yesterday. She has set up residence in a spare bedroom in a large wire dog crate along with a bed, food and water, and a litter box. She isn't sure this is such a good deal and is still very stressed. But it was so cold yesterday and will be for the week I felt like now was time to try. She has let me pet her and will purr loudly enjoying it, after her initial hesitation. She must have lived on the wild for some time.

Loving all the photos! Such beautiful kitties! You remind me of how fortunate I am to have 9 cats, and a husband that helps me take care of them, even though he often will disagree with that fact.

Rah, awesome work! It's hard to trap them, at least for me. If she lets you pet her and purrs, you can't ask for much more! I am sure she thoroughly enjoys the warmth! Our little spayed girl is living in her heated house inside the dog house and it was 17 degrees this morning. Good for you!!!

Love the little kitties. So cute. Cold today, even for Florida. Louie has no interest in the back porch. Felix slept pretty good last night. No howling in the middle of the night. Felix hates Louie and he ignores her. If she even thinks he is somewhere close she starts hissing. Louie says that old cat is no fun and there is so many fun things to do in the house. Unrolling the paper towels tops the list and if he gets the whole roll down, he can shred it was his back claws. That is the best fun.

    Beautiful little kittens!!

Snickersmom, I also often think we should get Grady a second cat. He tries to get the dogs to play, but they are all old and will only oblige him by occasionally chasing him. Btw, his nickname is Snickerdoodle!!

She is clearly plotting your demise!

Here's another kitty photo from Manila. I'm pretty sure the two snoozing on the left are the same two I photographed earlier in my trip. The one on the right was grooming away--and yes, that's artificial grass. There are strips of it throughout this area:

How's this for whiplash? It's 80 F here in Manila at 9 PM. At home in Kansas, it's 31 F. I think I'm going to freeze my bippy off.

It was 32 here this morning and Snickers is SO glad she's an indoor cat! She definitely does not like cold and even more so now that she's older.

    too cute, Petite! Hi Kitty!

News is reporting iguanas are freezing and falling from trees down there - I hope that is not the case, that is rather sad.

I am too far north for iguanas, but yes, they are falling from the trees in South Florida.
