Cats, cats, cats

Hey, y'all! I haven't posted here in a long time, but I check in every once in a while to see how everybody is and well, the CATS! The cats are gorgeous!!! My Dobby and Piper (little black male and big diva girl tuxedo) are doing well, and though they still argue sometimes, they secretly kind of like each other now. Dobby's 3 now, but still so high energy he runs everywhere. I've never had a cat with this much energy, and he wants to go outside sooooo badly, but there are vultures here, so it's a no-go. I'm trying out a leash with him. At first he was convinced that he couldn't walk when in his little harness, so he would just kind of roll out the door and lie there, obviously enjoying the outdoors but not convinced he could stand! Now we have progressed to standing and actual walking, although it's a bit overwhelming for him if he's out for longer than 15 minutes! Sigh-- It's hard to keep a high energy cat occupied! He still sleeps all night on my hip, staring relentlessly at the door. My little guard-cat! Hope you all are well and taking good care of yourselves as well as the cats!

Oh Fairchild what beauties!! Love the bow tie
-
What dapper kitties you have!
I got to see some parts of Old Manila today and got this photo I knew you all would enjoy. Look closely--see the kitty? Now look a little bit to the left. That's a rooster!
-
Looks like they both know it's an even match, so don't start anything.
-
Sure am loving all the photos!! Cats make me happy! Thank you for sharing!!
Edj3 - be safe, news this morning talking of a volcano down there.
-
Oh yes, there's a volcano misbehaving for sure! We're all wearing masks and staying inside--hope everything settles down quickly. Some of us leave this weekend, I leave a week from Thursday, a bunch leave that following Saturday IF the airport is open again.

My very first video! (nice they make it so easy). Our security camera caught our feral kitty, Porkchop, just a few moments ago. We are coming off a cold and snowy weekend, and today is sunny and near 50. She is a sweet girl, maybe one day, she will let me touch her. This is the mama to our kittens.
-
Aw look at her rolling around! So sweet.
-
awwwwwww! She knows where the nice people live!
-
edj3 - stay safe out there. The pictures we are seeing here are terrifying
-
Fairchild - my Snickers used to cry at the door to go out when we first rescued her so I tried a harness and leash and she was fine with them. We think she had been taken out by her previous owners before they surrendered her. Anyway, it became a problem because any time the door opened by us or anyone else, she thought she could just run out. So we had to stop taking her out. She did get used to being inside and now she wouldn't go out for anything! She's afraid of her own shadow.
MissouriCat - I love the video of your feral! Are those your feet? If she gets that close to you, maybe she will let you touch her if you are down more at her level, like squatting down with food. I'm sure you had tried that but just wanted to throw it out there. She obviously knows you are much bigger than she is. Poor thing. But thank goodness for people like you who are so patient and kind. The world could use more like you.
-
Thank you, Snickers mom. Those are my husband's house shoes!
Edj - worried about you - be safe!
Cats sure make me smile!

Good morning. I love the cat pictures. Louie is running around trying to get in the window to watch the world. Miss Felix is sleeping.
-
Does anyone have an elderly cat with dementia? Miss Felix howled and meowed most of the night. The Vet has given her medication for hyperthyroidism and arthritis, but she needs anti-anxiety meds, too. I think. Now she sleeps.
-
The dog's new bed....Grady test driving it.
-
Petite, hopefully, someone will be by to answer your question. Mine are getting older, but fortunately we have not faced that yet.
Yogatyme - this is TOO CUTE! Big bed for little furball! Looks so comfy!
-
Dogs can get canine dementia, don’t know why not cats too. There are some meds, and helpful tricks for dogs, might be worth a call to vet ask about cats.
-
I would call your vet. I don't know with cats, but a uti in older adults gives them hallucinations and unpredictable behavior. Do you think she might have felt lost? Our last foster was 18 and he sometimes meowed for no apparent reason. I think he was reassuring himself that he was still there. He also became blind and may have been using the sounds to help guide him around the house. But with all night, I would call the vet.
-
MissouriCat, the dogs know who “owns” EVERYTHING! Lol
Petite, I had a cat w hypothyroidism and he was elderly, but never had any howling issues or seemed anxious. However, I don’t know about hypothyroidism in cats, but in people, if you are getting too much thyroid hormone you can become very anxious. You might want to check w the vet to see if this might be a possibility. I’m so sorry. It’s hard to see them like this and feel so helpless.
-
My dad's dog has this... anxious barking for no reason... and he is helped by both anxiety meds and from CBD treats.

I haven't posted in a while but I check in regularly. I wanted to post some pictures of a new pair of cats (Bernie and Trixie)
that I took care of over Thanksgiving and Xmas. They are Sphinx kitties and they are hairless and have incredible personalities. They are very friendly and kind of like little monkeys! Have any of you been around a cat like these?
-
More pics Bernie

last pic (tree growing out of my head makes this photo!)

I've never met/talked w/ anyone who has that breed, so good to know they're fun kitties.
Last night at a client site, I saw the friendliest striped ginger with a lovely long tail. I meowed at him (only proper, right?) and he came running up to me just talking away. One of my colleagues hates cats (I think she's scared of them) so she got a little freaked out and thought I was going to pet him. Well no, he's social but he probably hasn't had any vaccinations and he's probably got fleas. I'm just going to talk to him. He followed us until we went in the building, just meowing back whenever I meowed at him. Super adorable.
-
Edj3 love that you struck up a conversation with Mr Ginger! I just love a kitty that interacts like that
Cowgirl Bernie and Trixie look very sweet indeed. So glad you have them to brighten up your day.
I am making progress with black barn cat. She is still very skittish (understandable because that is a harsh existence) but she now will let me pet her after I feed her. Definitely a girl, pretty sure she is preggers. So I have the cat carrier placed on the wagon where I am feeding and will gradually get her used to eating inside there. Then it will be off to the vet. She is very sweet, talks to me now. And apparently owns a watch because when I drive up to the barn at 4 pm she is there. Not earlier. 4 pm. ha

Rah2464 that is the best!
On my run tonight on the BGC Greenbelt, I passed a ton of kitties and there was an older man sitting on the curb pretty clearly feeding him. Warmed my heart--people are people around the world.
I also read an article in the Washington Post about animal rescues near Taal, the volcano that's misbehaving here in the Philippines. Like I said, people are people
-
Rah thats so sweet, how she waits!!
-
Little female that I use to feed regularly until a dog moved next door would come running at the sound of my squeaky storm door and the sound of my car if I had been out. Warms my heart when she does that.
