Adorable little calico at the shelter last night. They said 2 mos but I think she's younger. Eating well and has a mighty purr.

I went to the shelter last night for my regular shift. My foster had been visiting for a week. He was being bullied by his roommate and the shelter was full, so I brought him back home. I've also learned (because I'm able to read their notes) that he's blind. Back home, it's really obvious that he can't see. I think perhaps I should make catnip trails for him to follow to get to the two places he likes to hang out. They're talking about him coming back in a few weeks for another go at adoption. I'm so tempted to tell the vet I want some of whatever she's smoking because she thinks someone will adopt an 18yo blind cat with early renal failure, high blood pressure, and hyperactive thyroid. He does still like to be picked up and purrs, so there's some quality of life still there. The shelter was absolutely packed and there really wasn't a good spot to give him.

that is so loving of you to take that poor baby into your home. I think any of us would do the same. He deserves to live out his days with someone as wonderful and kind as you.

awwww, that is just precious! Hope kitty doesn't bop that pretty poochie on the nose. Kitties do rule!

This was Sammie, our wonderful outgoing super friendly kitty. I got him at 7 months and unfortunately he had FIP and died at 14 months. But in his short time with us, he was a hoot! Here he is in our German shepherd's bed--she weighed 75 pounds and he was about 7 pounds but boy, she didn't even argue with him about the bed.

Sorry you're dealing with progression and all side effects. I've heard of people putting a baby onesie on cats rather than a collar to keep them from accessing their back and sides. Perhaps a warm one would help your kitty until he adjusts to less fur. They also sell a disk that's microwavable for warmth that lasts for hours. Used a lot for kittens to help keep them warm. It's called something like cuddle safe (not exact name). A shelter might be able to loan you one now that kitten season has wound down.

For any of you who might remember the Whitey Saga from February 2019 (car accident, major surgery, miraculous recovery...)...

Whitey's cat hoarder owner finally moved on so Whitey is fully mine now. We re-named her Cleocatra (Cleo for short) and moved her to our 2nd home with the other kitties. She is a full-time inside kitty now. She adjusted very well and her pudgy little belly is proof...
