Magic, if you google AnneBelmont.com and look at her blog you will get a wealth of info. She is an email friend of mine and what I would consider the premier photographer for the Chicago Botanic Garden. I just a few months ago purchased her ebook on the use of Lensbabys. I am in an ongoing photography contest and I needed to get in a couple of extra shots before the end of this month as snow was predicted which we got yesterday. I was out on a very windy day which is the WORST for this type of lens but it was my last chance to get these daffodils. You have to take the pics in this counties forest preserves and these daffodils were a new addition. I use the Lensbaby Velvet 56. I fell in love with Anne's flower photography and couldn't figure out how she was getting the effect she did and then she started sharing all about the Lensbabys. It is a completely manual lens so that takes some getting used to. It does not record your F stop or data as it does not record the metadata as most lenses do. I have done quite a bit of macro photography with a dedicated macro lens but this takes the whole process to another level. You should give it a try. The nice part is the Velvet 56 lens is very small and light which is a BIG plus for me compared to my macro lens.

Cathy, do you have daffodils in Australia? I think the more common color is yellow and yellow with orange centers. That is what I had earlier in my yard and never got a pic of my own.

Magic Light, Great capture. They bloom so infrequently and the bloom is so brief, you're lucky to have caught it. I think ours bloomed only once or twice over a long period of time.

Magic, I wondered if the photographer knows she shares the same name with this person. LOL I had no idea. I have never had anything but the photographer come up when I type in her name.

I have never seen or heard of that flower but your capture is so beautiful the way the light and shadows on the petals adds even more beauty.

sounds yummy but the rose was mocha colored. That flavor icing might taste good too.

I don't usually take photos of cut flowers, but there are exceptions..
